Feels like shaco was used as "apply grievous and anti shielding w boxes, then dip" and that was his entire purpose
Well imo that is his strongest build, let your clone apply debuffs and have the AoE shieldbreaker and grievous with stridebreaker. Crit takes way too long to spike and lethality shaco is weak after multiple duskblade nerfs and champions getting ridiculous shielding power and stats from items/supports. Wits end is great but they had only 1 AP champ, I do agree BotRK would be better in this game though. Even if they have just 1 shielding support i would still prefer building serpents second.

love the very informative game analysis but pretty sure you should have noticed by the time he finishes the grievous wounds item that he's a support that just applies status effects on enemy.

Honestly, I don’t think serpents rush was a bad play. He probably assumed Nocturne and Leona were looking to go Sterak’s/Solari so he rushed it to path them off it. He knew they’d see it and look to go other items therefore helping his team’s teamfight
But how much value does he actually deny ? Cuz the way I see it he got a turbo lead so if he went a bruiser build - stride - blade - steraks, not only would he be able to actually face someone in teafight, he would do way more dmg to noct, leo, camille, diana. And hed be able to stick on varus for way longer. So in my opinion if his team didnt play and carry the way that they did, the game was completely lost if they relied on shaco to do the work. And not only would this bruiser build be better (bigger ability to fight for a longer period, more dmg towards their whole team), but it also makes you question yourself what ddid shaco do this game - he didnt even dare to fight anyone, didnt make any proactive plays on the map, couldnt even assasinate anyone on their team - which is what he built for. So ye ppl might actually look at shaco this game and say oh hes totally usueless dont pick him, but im really curios to see what would have actually happened if he went bruiser
This would make sense if he got the item after seeing them build components of steraks/solari. Serpants is a really cheap item. If you start buying it after you see them buy components of sterak/solari you'll still get it in time. Like buying it before they get those items will just make them not build those items and you're stuck with a pretty useless build vs them.

yo Mr Chase, enjoyed the video; for future youtube viewings you can smooth out the experience a bit with Jogging keys (J and L to skip back and forward small increments) and Shift + < and > will change the playback speed; space bar for play pause but that way you don't have to make so many awkward clicks :D
even though he was fourth, the utility he provided compensates that in the eyes of his team, they didn't need additional damage dealer, thus his itemization and poke-ish run play style
But he would had more utility if he went bruiser bcs he gets more ability haste and can tank some hits
@@skelet8337 I wouldn't necessarily say he would have had more utility, but instead different kind of it. Can't really say whether it would be better choice or not, but yeah, would definitely be interesting to see nonetheless.

Man, this reminds me of my reactions when Kinessa was picked (It used to be rare as hell) in pro-play Paladins early in its lifespan. They wouldn't build their pages correctly around her strengths at all, and as a result her existence in teams completely warped the teams' playstyles around her since she couldn't be even slightly independent with their builds.
Totally agree about his build. I don't even play Shaco but you're so right about everything. Although, I do (kind of) understand his anti-heal buy as they have 3 conquerors, I don't think you noticed that. But I still don't think it is enough healing to justify building mortal in that moment. Definitely better items. It is clear you know your Shaco pretty well though lol

I know I’m late but around 37:25 he couldn’t do anything with the clone or put it on anyone at that time since the paranoia came out also he is more worried about not getting baron stolen knowing he will be the target of the all in And he tries to distract by by taking clone out it’s hard to manage that situation.
I believe that Umbral Glaive would be actually a worthwhile item, for sure it would outdo a serpent's (of which I'm a big fan) I get the point that he is expecting sterak's on noc and probably Camille, but now they can swap into wits end, ga, or anything

Just a thought about the afk clone in the baron pit! Nocturne had used his paranoia so maybe Kanavi couldn't see what the hell was going on so maybe he lost his clone? Not a Shaco main but yeah the afk clone is very confusing lol

Yo Chase! In this game, I would probably go SB -> Hydra -> Tabi -> Warmogs. Would that be a good build? I play Supp Shaco so I'm not that much into AD Shaco. In my experience AD Shaco gets popped easy, I'd like to be a bruiser and be able to fight them back. I'm trying to broaden my knowledge about Shaco a bit, so why not ask the #1 Shaco ;)
I feel like the serpent's fang was ok, but I woulda gone chempunk for the cdr. The mortal reminder buy was weird since he needs 3 hits to apply the full grievous. The only merit I see for mortal reminder is the 100g cheaper cost, and the att speed for better clear.
serpent is bad here since the whole point of going lethality in this game would have been to look for picks on Varus which he never looked. Also seeing as there are pretty much no shields for serpents to have proper value. Since he went stridebreaker, he really should have gone a bruiser build like Chase said instead of that weird hybrid build.
this video was hilarious to watch as shaco main. You literaly said everything i had in mind, and right before you say it i'm like "hmm those guys are pros, there must be a plan behind it" and then "well ... Chase agree with me on this, so i guess the guy just doesn't know how to proper shaco". After all, not many ppl realize how skillcaped shaco is. I mean the guy never used rubberband tech, one of the strongest shaco tech. The guy is crazy good in general, but specificaly as a shaco, he's meh at best ... Imagine if he just went full crit shaco after that early, varus wouldn't be able to play, the second he'd appear somewhere, he'd get 3shot by shaco. I agree with you Chase, it's a bit soul painfull ...

invading shaco early or at 1:20 is the same right? invading him early will force a fight, hes not able to place his boxses , invading him at 1:20 you will destroy his boxses or get caught by one and lose the fight

Would have been nice if the game was a bit louder. I had no clue what the casters said even when he was responding to them. Legit no clue what was being said and just going off what chase got off of it.

He's not playing ranked and trying to solo carry for kills. he's going for utility/damage for the rest of his team. leona building the supp mythic that gives shields as well. I would agree with the theories if this wasn't comp or they were heavily relying on him to carry.
He would do more damage and offer more utility with a bruiser build. He got a lead and had very little value in fights because he’s playing front to back but gets one shot by their dive champs

Im a Shaco Main in Silver here and im disappointed. Going balls deep into a Crit build would have been awesome to watch, jumping on Varus at every opportunity. Failing that you cant go wrong with just a simple AP build send your clone bomb into the middle of a fight making wins. But yeah his build was so questionable, like Shaco is one of those champs where you dont build preventative damage items like Armor boots, you go for that attack speed to give that meaty burst damage to be the disrupter champ that you are. This guy was more of just a ward clearer and thats about it. He was only needed for his smite and thats it really.

It is sooo hard to play against Shaco if u ever lose the vision game. u cant realistically contest neutral objectives if u lost vision, and rest of the team is on even items.
