Small fix to the shaco box talk, it BECOMES invisible after 2 seconds, minions will target it if they see it and theres no minions around, and players in late game can easily destroy it. so theres some counter play to it, since if he puts it where they can see it right after its probably getting taken down really fast
I think an interesting video concept is reworks you would do for these champs. Haven't watched a lot of your content so maybe you do but would be cool :)
I actually made a shaco rework idea (inspired by someone's fan art of him that made him more of a truely dark murder clown rather than an.... attempted dark murder clown) a little while ago. I made this purely out of passion/fun, so I don't think it really helps with the whole "annoying" factor like you said, but still. (DISCLAIMER: i KNOW some of this stuff is super super dumb and probably giga broken and what not, but again, this was really a passion project and not a "going for actual balance" project. To be balanced it need a *lot* more work. also some of the wording of the passive relies on the knowledge that "shaco" is the DEMON inside the doll, not the doll itself.) passive, corrupted doll:
The map is riddled with dolls of shaco. While shaco is within 1000 units of a doll, he can click on them, tying his old (main) doll up into the air, becoming untargetable and invisible, before he inhabits the other doll for 60 seconds. This secondary doll can use all of shaco's abilities except his ultimate. after the 60 seconds, or if the doll is killed, shaco will reappear at his original spot, dealing damage around him. when the doll is killed, it will deal damage to all enemies around it. you can cast your ultimate at any time to destroy the doll, removing it from the map for 120-30 seconds, and his main doll will be cut from its strings at the location, and shaco will reinhabit it. *shaco cannot recall while in the secondary doll* *when a doll is killed or left un-inhibited, it will stay in the exact location, until shaco inhabits it again* *if the doll is 1000 units away from shaco's original spot, then shaco himself will receive 90/70/50% of the incoming damage, based on ult rank* ^ *the secondary doll receives 50% increased damage, but this does not increase the damaged dealt to shaco himself* *inhabiting a doll or killing an enemy will give you one stack of your w* in addition, while shaco is near a box, he can click on it to go into stealth. While in stealth, he can freely blink to any boxes that are "connected" to each other. *this stealth lasts for 3 seconds, and adds an extra second per blink. There is also an audio queue when shaco blinks.* *shaco can only blink to one box for its entire life span* *If shaco travels more than 250 units away from a box's outer hit box, the stealth will end.* q, makeshift knife: passive: shaco's first auto from behind an enemy will crit and mark them. if shaco has more ap than ad, this auto will crit in magic damage. if his ap is within 50 of his ad, it will deal half magic and half physical damage. active: shank an enemy, dealing physical damage. if cast on a marked enemy, you can blink anywhere within a 500 unit field around them, stealthing for 1 second, giving you a stack of your w. *You cannot stealth off of the next box you place or for the next 10 seconds.* w, jack in the box: place a stealthed box, having a cool down of 15/13/11/9/7, and storing up to 3/3/4/4/5 boxes, scaling with ability rank. when an enemy walks near the box, it will fear all enemies around it, and deal magic damage for the next 4 seconds. if boxes are placed close enough to each other, they become "connected". connected boxes last for twice as long as normal boxes, and while shaco is near activated connected boxes , he will gain 20% bonus movement speed. *boxes last for 60 seconds* *There is a 2.5 second delay between each cast of your w.* e, two shive poison: passive: auto attacking enemies marked by your q apply a poison effect for 2 seconds active: throw your knife at an enemy, dealing physical damage, applying your q mark, and resetting its cool down. this will deal magical damage if the enemy has less mr than armor, after calculating armor and mr pen. ult, play time!: passive: your passive activation range is now 1500 units. active: shaco becomes untargetable, stringing his main doll into the air, and taking three random dolls and spawning them in a triangle formation each 700 units away from shaco. for the next 1.5 seconds, shaco can then click on one of the dolls to inhabit it. *once shaco has selected a doll, both of the other dolls will start walking around either towards enemies or randomly either in circles or in a straight line* the ult seems semi basic at first, but i really like it because of the potential it has. It really depends on how well you can mimic a clones movements (ofc with walking in a circle being very difficult.)
As a Shaco main, he takes a ridiculous amount of mental strength to play well. You have to be borderline psychotic, but also make 200 IQ box placements in order to pop off, and even then your champion has shit levels of damage unless you're ahead. So, playing Shaco can feel like absolute shit sometimes, especially against newer (read 'overtuned') champions, but we can't exactly stop since we lost our minds playing the clown.
@@muscularbanana22 i agree, as a shaco player sometimes i dont even know why i play him. Theres nothing bad about shaco, but he just feels so frustrating to play sometimes.
I confirm, there is nothing more annoying to face but another Shaco on the ennemy team. Cause if you lose to his tricks it gets even more to your head since you're "supposed to know how Shaco works" you feel bad, stupid, and frustrated. Leading to more mistakes. That's the only reason we don't wanna face other Shaco
@@MrKinglydude yep i'm a kayn main and i sometimes play shaco because i just like assasin junglers in general. shaco is probably the best jungler for early game cheese. but honestly unless he is GIGA FED (like 5 kills above everyone else) he isn't very good for anything except tilting others. Like a fed kayn or khazix is a menace in the battlefield, shaco is just annoying :p
Funny thing, i have a friend that mains shaco, someday in a ranked game, someone on the other team picked shaco and my friend absolutely destroyed him, but instead of flaming the other person, he began to tell the enemy shaco the "correct way" to play it, and was the most mental-destroying thing that i have witnessed
Just like Qiyana. Yeah, she talks like an annoying bitch but that's the point. If you hate those 2 things that means that the devs did their job right.
The main thing about Shaco's annoyance is that everything revolving around his gameplay has an element of deceit and underhandedness: - where and which direction did he blink? you cant tell but only guess unless you got detection which you don't always have available - does he have boxes somewhere near ? is he leading me to a brush with boxes? fuck around and find out or stop chasing - which one is the real Shaco? is he moving the clone shaco as the real player and acting as the passive clone himself? which one do i chase? you got a 50/50 chance to get it right no matter the end result, no matter how badly the Shaco player is doing in the game or how stupid and reckless and ridiculous his playing is - *_it feels like he everything he does is to evoke a reaction from you , and he always gets the last laugh_*
and then you get the Shaco Mains. We don't really care about winning or losing, kills or assists. We just want to make you angry. You will remember us in a few days. >=]
There's a multiple ways to counter Shaco, his weak points are not that obvious but once you figure that out, you can just demolish him. A few tips: When you poke Shaco and he goes invisible, if you had a dot effect like RED buff or a Spell that does dmg, you can see where he is, even when he's invisble with the "glimmer effect", the same goes for every champion that becomes inv, even Akali, you'll see their white silhouette moving. Shaco has absurdly fast first clear, if your team did not invade just to fuck his boxes and go away, all you need to do is play safe until your own JG made his full clear. Shaco needs some early kills to keep his clear speed or it drops drastically compared to most JG. Shacos loves to invade but hates getting invaded pre lvl 6, most JGs can actually fuck him up badly to the point all he can do is give up the camp. Some champions like Morgana get's her ult UP when there's a Shaco nearby, all you need to do is press R and he's revealed and slowed... he's dead. If you ping a shaco and he ults, the real one still has the icon on his head, if you apply dots spells on him and he ults, the real one will be under it's effect and the clone wont, even ignite works.
@@euqinemor Not really good for low elo practice, a wise shaco can conter most of these instances. You forgot spawnlings like tibbers or yorick's wraiths will follow real invisible shaco anywhere. Why do you think Shaco should be in the jungle...? I mean short of ganking it's not a great place for him.
1. if hes low hp and losing then he either went as far as possible or he's standing still and q'd in place 2. yes and yes, if you're ever chasing a shaco and he isn't flashing/q'ing, dropping boxes on you, stop immediately 3. the clone is the one that you're having the easiest time to kill, the one that is totally mispositioning and would die if you just rushed him RIGHT NOW. Honestly the best way to deal with him is play him for a bit and learn that makes shaco players sad. like when I q and the enemy stays in the same general area and has dashes up, now i cant stand still OR run away. or when enemies just keep walking over new boxes instead of stopping to fight them, we want you to stop and fight them and get feared. and if you notice that the shaco you're killing is going down a bit too easy, it is pretty much definitely the clone and if it isnt, he has just sacrificed a lot of hp to try to trick you and if the trick doesnt work, real shaco is just dead. a lot of his annoyance factor comes from people not having played him and not knowing how to feel when he's at a disadvantage.
Its easy: - more clones when he ults (up to 3 if he kills all enermie players at least once) - 2 blinks and longer stealths - boxes can be moved - and cause the dagger is the most useless skill let it mark enermies and hit with the backstab bonus - btw backstab does too little so give it a aoe fear effect Btw if riot reads this, this one is for free but for the next one i wanna see full payment!
@@okgut2033 dagger is NOT the most useless skill lmao. As AP Shaco it's the poke and cleanup skill and arguably the most important skill next to ult. More clones, if operated like how it is right now is completely useless, because if there are three shacos and two move in the exact same direction, it is extremely obvious which one is the real one, making the most useful element of the ult completely obsolete. Moving boxes does NOTHING for the gameplay of Shaco. Two blinks is nice but will be completely broken in terms of gameplay, because it means he can safely jump in, do his damage, and run away with Q. I agree that his current passive is kinda underwhelming, especially as AP idk about AOE fear though. Some of your ideas are nice but overall you don't understand Shaco good enough at all.
My friend and I nearly gave the enemy top a heart attack when he walked toward river bush and 4 Shacos ran out at him. It was Shaco Shaco Ult Neeko Neeko W
Neeko underrated as a trickster champ. Yeah we have shaco, leblanc and wukong, but neeko potential is slept on alot. Ganking, pretending to be squishy or low health champs, fake outs with the clone. One of by best one was a darius trying to kill me under a tower thinking I was a nami, only to blow him up right there. Or another one where I sent out so many clones during a siege on dragon that the enemy team caught on, only to dive them pretending I was the clone and get a five man ult and a wombo combo. Good times, and still lost that fight. I'm glad they giving her an upgrade but I'm getting tired of trying hard lol.
Maining shaco has been one of the only things that to this day make me want to play League. He's just so unique. AP, AD, Tank, Bruiser, Full crit, Full letality, trying stupid strategies with the clone, it's just so different. Since the first time I played him in season 4 he's been my main and I'll possibly stop playing if they rework him to be another assassin or control mage that's lost in the multitude
@@maomekat2369 tank/bruiser in tank meta/when new tank items pop up. And being squishy is kinda the risk for being such a pain in the ass for the enemy team, so give and take
Bruiser tank Shaco is really fun. It isn't the best these days but several seasons ago back when tiamat still gave you an auto reset, and glacial augment was an on basic attack slow I played it all the time.
As a shaco OTP i have to say There is 3 things I love 1. Be annoying 2. Be annoying but clone 3. Be annoying but dance and clone Secret Going AP and AD at the same time and making the enemy annoyed
I feel like Ap Shaco is the true Shaco it goes so much with his vibe of trickster, Ap plays by tricking you into bad discussion. He was designed to be annoying and he is doing his job.
I remember a game when we have 2 AP carry in Mid Top and the Sup starts complaining about why I still play AP Shaco. The enemy team has like Pyke, Zac, Malzahar, Garen and Ezreal. Nothing shows that AD Shaco can do anything unless I'm super fed. In the end, I destroyed the enemy team dealing like 50k+ damage.
I think the truly defining thing about Shaco for me is that the champion has so much mobility that almost never in his existence has Flash been the dominant summoner to use alongside Smite. Even in his infrequent pro play picks he almost always runs ignite
Underrated comment. I also believe that is the most frustrating part about Shaco. He is unbelievably good at escaping, not to mention his skillset allowing him to fuck with you if you try to chase him. Gwen has the same "No Flash" playstyle, but you actually know what is happening when she runs/engages. Shaco makes you look like a clown for trying to figure it out.
@@asteriskonline3494 Shaco runs flash 4% of the time per lolalytics. Gwen about 12%. I think the only champs who run flash less are Yuumi and Hecarim lol
@@bmac4 flash is actually pretty good on shaco specifically because you dont NEED it. Because shaco doesn't need flash as an emergency escape, its literally just a free dash for him which opens up so many options. unless youre olaf or hecarim, if you trying to run away from a shaco who has q, flash and rylais, you're not getting away no matter where you go, if the shaco has ghost or ignite then yeah you can turn corners and stuff to slow him down but if he has flash, youre almost guaranteed dead.
hey just wanted to say that for beginners like me your class overviews really help getting a grasp on what the 160+ champions with 4 abilities each are probably gonna kill me with
@@iliesseelhaouari2731 I saw someone write a 12 paragraph abbreviated guide about aphelios' basics and said "hes pretty simple once you get the hang of him" about just under two months ago.
@@peeron6829 Sadly the game has gone quite downhnhill, powercreep has become a massive issue, skins are only really released for champions that are either popular or being buffed that patch, people are super toxic and mentally unstable most games. Really sad to see the state of the game.
Shaco might be annoying to some, but he takes real decision making to be effective with him. Which is why you’ve probably experienced the 26 kill Shaco and the completely useless one on your team. People who think they can just lizard brain and win with his kit like the new champs are in for a rude awakening. You always have been be one step ahead to really make it work.
this, you are loading in with jgl diff already and have to make it up by cheese, agro plays, and good makro, since most meta champs just stat check him to oblivion .
As a Shaco main you’re spot on, play like you’re a planned out killer like Jigsaw rather than a slasher like Jason Voorhes, if you consistently outsmart the enemy you shred their mental and win by default
Im very much in a agreement here. Fighting shaco is far easier if you know how to play him and how he has to trick you into fighting him. Sure he doesn't interact with you, but by the same token you can simply not interact with him. If you keep track of him he becomes a cannon minion with occasional mini fiddle ults (AP) or literally just any other assassin.
nothing is more satisfying that setting up a strategic boxes in the most obscure (seemingly) of places 1min before a teamfight and see the enemy team trigger them....then feast on the ensuing rage and frustration delicious
I think the most annoying thing about him are his old-designed abilities. Every ability is some flavor of instant, confusing, point and click or clunky in a way that half of the time benefits him, and you know he wouldn't release like that today. I understand he's not easy to play by any stretch of the imagination, but the instant invisibility + blink, traps that CC you and the clone which is an amazing and low cooldown tool can make older champions feel powerless agaisnt him, since some of them can't really outplay Shaco. You can only play AROUND those things but you won't catch him, solo him or outrun him ever if need be. Newer champions that have more mobility and better tools can outplay him fairly easy and that's why he's not a consistent champ, but you can definitely ruin some players' life.
I love playing Shaco for a few reasons: 1. He requires the player to be more thoughtful and make real decision to be effective and be 1 step ahead of other players. 2. His kit allows the player to build him allot of builds and change your playstyle according to your items. 3. his whole kit is build to disrupt and confuse his opponents. Nothing beats to feeling of escaping someone in the opposite direction of where the enemy is going or killing someone without expecting you to be there. 4. You have to respect if your facing a good Shaco player because if hes 26/2 he knows what hes doing. The only thing i want to be changed in Shaco is his visuals, his kit is great the way it is. Changing his kit will only kill this unique champion.
I've never played Shaco and I hate playing against him, but I can't help but kind of love him despite it. He's one the champions that embodies his concept the most. You look at his design and expect him to be a demonically annoying shit, and what do you know, his gameplay does exactly that. I almost can't get mad at Shaco players because like, that's just what the champ is.
Last time I gave an opinion on how to modernize Shaco (on the old forum) the devs listened to me and his new ult box triangle was born. I'd trade the fear effect on it for more E ap damage instead of the "execute only" thing it has going now. I miss the DFG shaco days.
8 years ago shaco was my first Main. I’d play him jungle with my cousin and they’d just tell me what to do until eventually I’d just split push the whole game and use my R to help push towers as AD. 8 years later I only play him AP and like I don’t even remember what went through my peasant brain back in the day. But love him.
I love shaco and honestly is one of the champions I always feel like if the enemy wins is trough intelligence and mind games! Unlike other assassin's that can get in one shot and get out and I can't do nothing to stop that, shaco has to prep everything up, put himself in danger and baiting, whilst playing mind games with the enemy. As a jester and a clown I feel like his play style is on point. Constantly taunting and triking everyone. Also the ways you can play with them and itemize are so different from one another. It's easy to pick up as a new champion but also with lots of room to specialize and dominate! Trully an amazing champion! Please never rework. The only critic I have for him is the visual design and story. Those could be better and not so "scary murder clown"
AD shaco doesnt need mindgame or planning tho, Q over wall AA E AA one shot any adc/enchanter and most mages and he just gets out with another Q or R to wait for Q CD.
@@Han-bw5zn yeah true Ad shaco is the most boring straight foward version of shaco I agree. But also feel like is easier to deal with than other ad assassins and it's very build dependant, squishy, snowbally required to get trough mid/late game and very much 100% commit to the kill, unlike let's say zed, Kah, Kayn or talon that can easily get away if they fuck up.
The thing i love the most about shaco is his free use of his abilities, yes people will figure out where you place boxes and where you might flee to, but you can also not do what people expect and still accomplish alot of recource wasting on the enemy team
God i love shaco, i love invading with him, i love the diversity of his builds, i love one shotting adcs, i love being asked wtf my build is and not having an answer. I love shaco
Shaco is designed to be annoying, but he's not opressive or overpowered. (He usually sits near a 50% WR, despite having alot of dedicated onetricks) He's also one of the very few champions with complete build diversity, and who's build actually changes up his playstyle. I really hope Riot never changes him. They could give him some actual lore though.
he is oppressive as AD, he can blink trough any wall and AA E AA one shot any adc/enchanter and a lot of mages, no risk taken, no planning just Q(wich is a flash+invis on low CD) and one shot with AA and pointandclick E. you're saf NOWHERE against ad shaco.
@@Han-bw5zn If AD shaco is one-shotting you from full after wasting his Q to gap-close, you already fed him and fucked up. Shaco relies on exploiting the enemy team's ignorance. If you ward regularly and track his appearances on the map you can predict when to be "on alert" and greatly counter his pressure. The sentiment "you're safe NOWHERE against ad shaco" is exactly what he's trying to instill in you. The truth is the same for any Jungler you face. You should be bold when they're away, and timid when they're near, and if you can't tell which is which it's because your map awareness+warding needs improvement.
@@Han-bw5zn if that happens it means that the Shaco has been fed, same with a GP barrel appearing out of thin air to deal 3k+ damage from behind a wall, or a Rengar jump out a bush that deals 1.5k with what is basically an empowered auto attack. "Every champion is overpowered if fed enough"
@@Han-bw5zn shaco one trick here . ad shaco cant full one shot anymore . if you think shaco does not take risk you are clueless ( no offense ) the main problem of the current ad shaco is even if you are feed your kit cant reflect the value of your ad items . because . e deals magic dmg and the w is useless as ad shaco . you only count with your q and your passive . a passive that is not consistent . because you just can move foward to shaco and by doing that you are lower shaco dmg . shaco is a champ that abuse for the enemy not warding properly shaco is basically the feel of paranoia because if you not know were he is . he can be near you . thats why right now shaco is a champion who only beat bad players
Shaco was my first main, and is still my favorite champ in the game. His kit is so brilliant, based entirely around deception and ambush, the embodiment of chaos for lol.
I think they also made it so the certain skill counters under this model shows on the clone too? Like Yasuo E Udyr E or Qiyana Passive etc. If you apply it on the actual Shaco and then he ults, the counter vfx will be under the clone as well? Whereas it doesn’t work like that on LeBlanc’s clone
Here is the testimony of a shaco otp. Playing shaco is the best feeling i can get from LoL. I can go any role but adc(and even then there is some supports that allow it, but it's very tedious and result oriented, fail your lvl1 cheese and your game is over), every champ is manageable if you're willing to change your playstyle accordingly (ad against squeashy range, ap against squeashy melee, tank against tank or bruiser, tool box if your team is carrying you, etc). Each playstyle feel and must be played totaly different from one another. And each playstyle got their own tweak to adapt to your current game. Shaco is not one annoying champion, it's not the most annoying champion, it's all the annoying sh*t you can think of waiting in your sleeves. It's the alien mother of schizophrenic champion design, you can be whatever your team need, and especialy what the enemy don't want to face. And on top of that, you have the mindgames. When playing ap, i ALLWAYS /laugh whenever an enemy fails a skillshot or trigger a box, thus creating maximum rage over my personna. The more they hate you, the less they will think twice before following you in their death. I can't count the amount of time i spent running in the enemy jungle with 3 to 4 enemies at my back, just f*cking with them over and over until an objective is done. Also, and maybe i'm the only one to enjoy this but i highly doubt it, there is allways something new to learn. When you know your champ will have a shot against every other champ (don't get me wrong, when you're not countering your oponent it will be quite hard and technical to pull off) you have to learn match-ups against every champ in the game (although a lot of champs are similar to play against, there is allways some specificity to learn). And you have to adapt and change your gameplay DURING the game. Shaco has many ways of placing boxs and using clone, and you must not repeat the same patern too often. Maybe start sending your clone first in battle for on or two fight, then leave it behind for the third and go in like a tard convincing them you're your clone and allowing you to dagger a low hp carry, and in the fourth fight you and your clone both flank from different side. You can have 2 boxs set up, 3 boxs set up, wich don't work the same and must be placed in accurate way, and the enemy must then be baited in the good path so that the fears make him trigger successive boxs. You can go through wall with R, and you can rubberband the clone for maximum confusion. There is safety boxs, vision boxs, disruptive boxs, intimidation boxs, zonhya boxs (personal favorite, show me a shaco main that doesn't rub his hand when seeing an enemy trigger zonhya) and so on. The skill cap is pretty much infinite, and so is the satisfaction you can get from shaco ... if you're crazy enough to embrace chaos.
I love playing Shaco in urf...always fun to make someone on the enemy team hate me, my existence, my family and the fact that I'm alive and playing Shaco against them.
A really good counter is that some champions can easily see Real Shaco because of unique cc-cooldown animations. Rek'Sai for example can just flash W and R him before Shaco can use Q or R and oneshot him, especially with EoN, and if he survives your W + R combo you easily identify real Shaco because of the W knockup cooldown, and auto him to death with certainty.
udyr's E stun timers are also a good way of doing this. you can only re-stun the same target every x seconds and get visual indicators for the countdown, allowing you to target ping the real shaco so your team knows.
Also Jarvan Passive, Kayn R, Sylas R, 3 hit passives, Eve charm etc. Also you didnt mention how Reksai can see Shaco while invis due to her passive making it so he cant go in unless Reksai has unburrowed or else he goes in and gets one shot when he comes out of invis
I’ve only started playing League a few months ago and I like to play Jungle. I ban Shaco most of the time after seeing only two games with him on the enemy team. The first time, Shaco was so fed and leveled up we couldn’t even touch him before he would blink away and torment us with his ultimate. The other time it was the player, absolutely played the role of being a Shaco and would be all cocky in the chat when trying to steal dragon or herald from me.
Falling behind with no chance to catch up is the #1 problem with League. If you're down 1 item even if you win the game you're not going to have a good time.
I remember back in the day, they were actually working on a Shaco VGU but they shelfed it bc they had no idea what to do with him. Judging from the fact he's never on the VGU polls despite needing one desperately, I fear the same might be true today.
I keep coming back to videos like this, even months and months after they're posted. "I have more respect for Yone mains..." That tells us everything we need to by itself.
Singed and Shaco can be really annoying, old and bad designed, but I feel like that is the essence of those characters, and a VGU would be heartbreaking. Shaco is perfect because he's Shaco
Ironically, Shaco's greatest counter is ignoring him. Especially AP Shaco is useless if you don't chase him. AD Shaco is sometimes a menace if he gets fed early, but falls off hard late game.
Shaco main since Season 3 here, this vid is like 85% wrong and has complete bullshit opinions. Shaco is extremely weak and has been for the last 4 years. Doesnt do damage for shit. Pick any other assassin. Only reason people hate him is because to play him properly requires explicitly outsmarting enemies and that just feels demoralizing to face. He is still a shit champ.
Quick clarification on the point at 5:35, oracle lense and control wards dont actually disable the traps anymore and instead only reveal them to be hit. This means as a melee there is no easy way to deal with them as you can't auto them at all. This wasnt always the case and we had a small amount of time where they were truly immediately activated(losing the fear effect) when using these but that was removed in patch 9.9. Iirc the reasoning was that it was that it was "too easy" to deal with the boxes taking away from his gameplay. Dont quote me on that as the patch notes are archived and we cant see them anymore to be sure. But this honestly felt like where his boxes became even more awful to play against since there was no (reliable) way to counter it as a melee anymore. Love the video though and feel like it really highlights my own problems with this champion.
Before i watch the vid eo i think the simple answer is that he was just d signed that way.his purpose isnt to be a carry or teamfighting hod its just to be annoying and to tilt yhe enemy squishies
Control wards and oracle lense no longer destroys the traps, it just makes them visible. You still have to attack them to disable them, which only ranged characters can do when the trap is armed.
Imo the easiest change they could make to make Shaco less frustrating is to make his boxes disabled by oracles lens, every other invisible ability like it is disabled by oracle lens i.e. Teemo shrooms. That change plus making his boxes have ward style hp bars would make him both easier to play against and more skill expressive. With these changes he now has to be sure he's picking the right enemy/time to engage or else his box will be oracle lensed and bursted down yielding no cc for him (you might still be distracted by the box but you could now immediately turn on him if he shows his face). Cause right now it feels like his fear is too guaranteed in certain situations where it really shouldn't be - like in a team fight. Also melee champions would be able to actually kill his boxes without taking damage (which ranged champions can do, but a melee has to prock the box).
my thought was to make it more like fiddle Q passive. it cannot CC you if you see it. so strange to have hardened warriors and godlike beings tiptoe around a jack-in-the-box they know is there yet get jumpscared by it anyway
i'd take that deal if they gutted oracles lens. Oracle lens literally invalidates shaco as a champ already, and that used to be the case until they changed it due to how badly it hurt him as a champ.
As a Shaco one trick, I hate league as a game, I just love Shaco. If his vgu changes his abilities individual identities I will quit the game. I know a lot of other Shaco mains who feel the same. We love him for him, not how strong he is.
Good riddance. When you have a design so counter to core design philosophies, its best to just raze it to the ground. A champion should ALWAYS interact or force the enemy to interact. A champion should NOT force you to NOT play the game.
you are completly right when i pick shaco i see my enemy team if there is valuable important targets that i know i can take down i go AD but if i see a lot of dive in champs like fizz, kayn, irelia, nocturne, rengar, riven, camille, ekko, etc i prefer to go ap and basically be a support anty engage, ap shaco doesnt deal that much dmg but his W is a perfect defense you push and with just 3 or 4 boxes the enemy team will never get to your adc, makes it really easy to retreat too, it also gives decent control in objectives like dragon before it comes out some boxes and the enemy cant engage, and shaco can start a fight with a well timed clone explocion playing as shaco, youir life are full of suffering if you think fighting shaco is bad? imagine playing a champ that is as squishy as sona with a E that deals less dmg than an auto atk a unreliable W that the moment you place it in a fight it goes down, as shaco you have to be extremelly smart with what fights you pick because you cant 1 v 1 anyone even supports can beat a non feed shaco, the strengt of shaco is his Q giving him one of the best ganks and making him extremely hard to kill, but that is also his way to start a fight and hist biggest source of dmg. you need to be ahead in gold to have a chance vs any champ and even then there is champs that you will just never be able to beat. as shaco you need to outsmart your enemy make him kill the clone lure him into a trap bait him, etc.
I don't understand why people complain about shaco. He's easy to blow up when you hard cc him. He can get solo'd by most tanks. And not to mention everyone can get a FREE item to counter half of his abilities. UP if you ask me.

I've been listening to "The Jokes on You!", as he's been my perma ban, for about 2 years now. I needed to rewatch this video to remind myself why I must continue.
As a shaco main, we love to hear your pain. We exist to make the world a worse place. We live because the world would be better off without us, and so we continue in spite.
imo, shaco's fear should have an internal cooldown to reapply, something similar to fiddlestick Q for instance... maybe even with the "amplifying damage" part - i mean: first box, applies fear, next will double damage, but will not fear the target
There are three things that make me enjoy playing Shaco, one of which was lost over the years. The first is rewarding players who plan ahead of time. If you read how a fight we break out before the actual fight, you can prepare accordingly and harness the reward. The second: Shaco is a very weak head on fighter, therefore, his player must get creative and find alternative win conditions to succeed on him. Last, but most definitely not least, he was the king of the early game. For a variety of reasons, some connected to Shaco himself, but mostly from how the game around him changed, what made Shaco such an early game threat is no longer around. The rework I have in mind for him seek to amplify those three aspects of his gameplay while inhibiting some of his most boring aspects. For instance, his assassination combo consists of using the most versatile stealth in the game to get in position, then right clicking his opponent to death. P - Backstab If Shaco's first attack is from behind his opponent, the attack is a guaranteed critical strike. This effect can be reactivated if Shaco becomes unseen for 2 seconds or the enemy gets taunted or feared. Shaco has 2 seconds after revealing himself to deliver the attack. Shaco can backstab from up to 600 range. NEW: Backstab executes non-epic Monsters the enemy team damaged it by more than 50% of its maximum HP. Q - Deceive REMOVED: Shaco's next basic attack after deceive no longer deals extra damage. NEW: Passive - Jack in the box fear duration incresed by 0/0.25/0.5/0.75/1 seconds. Active - First cast: Shaco becomes invisible for 3 seconds. Active - Second cast: Up to 3 seconds or Shaco's next attack, deceive can be reactivated to blink at the desired location. W - Jack in the box REMOVED: No longer deals area of effect damage. REMOVED: No longer deals bonus damage to monsters. REMOVED: No longer deals reduced damage to structures. REMOVED: No longer takes 100% max health damage from towers. REMOVED: Duration no longer scales with AP Duration increased from 40 to 60 seconds. Damage increased from 10/15/20/25/30 (+12% AP) to 15/20/25/30/35 (+15% AP) Fear duration: Reduced from 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 to 0.5 seconds at all levels. Health: Changed from 150 to 550 based on champion level to 200/300/400/500/600 based on ability level. Magic Resistence: Lowered from 100 to 50. NEW: Now takes 66% reduced damage from Area of Effect Damage. E - NEW: Frustration Passive: Backstabs and fears generate a stack of Frustration on enemy units. Every 9/8/7/6/5 stacks of frustration Shaco generates allows him to cast one ability free of cooldown. Active: Shaco taunts all frustrated units for 0.5 + 0.1/0.15/0.2/0.25/0.3 seconds per stack of frustration and Shaco's next instance of damage against a taunted target will deal 60/75/90/105/120 (+25% AP) bonus damage increased by 25% for each additional stack. R - Hallucinate REMOVED: Hallucination no longer deals 40% reduced damage to units. REMOVED: Hallucination no longer deals 70% reduced damage to structures. REMOVED: Hallucination no longer takes 50% increased damage. REMOVED: Hallucination no longer deploys three miniboxes upon detonation. NEW: Shaco can execute Hallucination with a backstab. NEW: Hallucination's detonation damage increases by 5% for every second. Hallucination's duration increased from 18 to 20 seconds. Hallucination's detonation damage reduced from 150/225/300 to 150/200/250. What I expect from this purposed rework is to make Shaco's 100-0 assassination less of a priority and instead make him more of an early game threat. At later stages, AP Shaco will stay more or less relevant while AD Shaco will be a worse assassin, but a slightly better duelist when his ultimate is up and a much stronger split pusher by removing the negative modifiers of box and hallucination against turrets. The changes to his boxes will make Shaco's clearspeeds a lot worse, encouraging him therefore to take more aggressive routes, wether that's invading the enemy jungler or a heavy ganking route. I intend both paths, AD and AP, to stay relevant. But if AD Shaco fails to end the game early, the idea is getting him play more like a Yorick and less like a Rengar. Meanwhile, his AP route should have a stronger early game albeit a slightly weaker late game. For both scenarios, the idea is gearing Shaco away from an assassin and back to the high risk early game powerhouse he used to be.
I have no issues with shaco on the enemy team, rather I rage to see shaco on my own team. The champion is a literal joke on bad or low mmr players, literally does nothing but Q in just to throw a dagger, the champion needs to be ahead to be useful, but squishy like enchanters often die to random aoes, but behind he feels like a Zed without ult, just permanently toss daggers from afar with so little damage
I might get some flames for this but; shaco players literary feels like a clown, they care more about being annoying and hahaha and kill people, they don’t care about winning the game or not, ATALL. Which is funny cause when shaco players are laughing at their opponents, their enemy team might also bring laughing st them
It feels like shaco players are just trying so hard to make a joke about something, trying so hard to be annoying and set up for a kill, fiddle just press R and wipes out a whole team, literal clown
Shaco feels like he's not outplayable. The moment you hit the real one, he simply backpedals while having Shaco2 hit you, all the while you can't retalliate because that thing is still a guaranteed damage CC bomb. It's like hitting a scarecrow effigy, knowing that it's the real Fiddle, but the ult he wound up still fearing you. Also don't forget, he always has a box somewhere, or deceive up and no sweeper in the world can help you, especially if you're melee.
i love Shaco, but i genuinely feel like shiv and clone need a tune up, and a visual update would be amazing. reading the comment's a lot of people are scared that a rework would ruin him, but i feel that he needs some touch up's like warwick got. but above all..... cafe cuties shaco when?
11:08 I couldn't agree more. Even when you fnd him off position he has his Q ready, and not getting away with a free Flash + Invisbility is kind of unrealistic.
I play him for 10 years.. i love him so much. If they ever rework him ill stop playing the game. I have over 98% of my games on him in ranked :) i love him
Shaco boxes fear for 1.5 seconds. They take 2 seconds to arm, so chances are you will be chain CC'd with basically no counter play. Kennen can chain CC you, but after the first stun it's basically just an interrupt. Not with Shaco. they are also indestructible while invisible, and too tanky while not. Also, his boxes sets your movement speed to 100. It doesn't slow you, it gives you a specific movement speed which cannot be countered by anything other than slow immunity. This lasts for 2 seconds, the box arming time. Also, the fact that his Q gives him more than Khazix ult is ridiculous. both flash and invisibility is pretty nuts, especially since it only breaks by attacking an enemy. Meaning he can set up traps and use ult next to you with next to no counterplay. When I boot up league, I want to play league. Shaco being picked means I can't play league, I play Shaco's wild ride. Win or lose doesn't matter. It was a miserable time anyway. Make it so his boxes can't chain CC you for the full time, and make his Q not flash and give movement speed instead, or make him invis after the jump, not before
"they are also indestructible while invisible, and too tanky while not" Are you joking? More often than not, my boxes get one-tapped. They're many things, but tanky isn't one of them.
All i hear is whining from a lower elo player that has no ability to predict movement or trap placement. And its extremely hard to set up a proper chain cc on Shaco, you're making it sound way easier than it is. Unless you're placing boxes in advance, then you can get a 4 second fear at max W level.
PROUD SHACO OTP HERE. TBH he is piss useless compared to the meta champs. I can be 15-2 and get 1v1'd by the 2-4 Sett. Once you get above plat the cheap kills from laners overstaying dry up and its hard to climb with him.
Its odd that while you hate champions that win games by not engaging, I love them, the game is so boring without champions that have alternate win conditions to just "Lets fight". I guess a good way of putting it is that I love approaching the game in a way where I can try and use the odd chracters and their odd approaches to win games, more so than just improving my micro skill, since its something I have always sucked at, and Shaco is an example of one of those odd characters.
No one wants to NOT play the game. Its much more than simply fighting or engaging. There's a reason no one likes Singed or Yuumi. Singed forces you to just not play (same with Shitco) and Yuumi can win by not playing.
Never heard about anyone, myself included, saying shaco is his n1 most hated champion. That title would in my opinion fit to king of unfairness and unoutplayability - YASOU.
You should also make a "Why No one Hates 'x champion'" series and cover the complete opposite end of the spectrum; also look at the champions that no one (or at least a very small amount of people) seems to have much of a problem with.
9:06 yeah the point is you have to play the isanity so it exploding without punishing the enemy for being reckless is lazy, so instead: Remain's in control for up to 18 seconds, afterwards dissapearing.
Fun fact about that pool: The most hated champion for Shaco mains was... Shaco. This really proves that you need a completely different mental state to main this champion

To be balanced it need a *lot* more work. also some of the wording of the passive relies on the knowledge that "shaco" is the DEMON inside the doll, not the doll itself.)
passive, corrupted doll:
The map is riddled with dolls of shaco. While shaco is within 1000 units of a doll, he can click on them,
tying his old (main) doll up into the air, becoming untargetable and invisible, before he inhabits the other doll for
60 seconds. This secondary doll can use all of shaco's abilities except his ultimate. after the 60 seconds, or if the doll
is killed, shaco will reappear at his original spot, dealing damage around him. when the doll is killed, it will deal damage
to all enemies around it. you can cast your ultimate at any time to destroy the doll, removing it from the map for 120-30
seconds, and his main doll will be cut from its strings at the location, and shaco will reinhabit it.
*shaco cannot recall while in the secondary doll*
*when a doll is killed or left un-inhibited, it will stay in the exact location, until shaco inhabits it again*
*if the doll is 1000 units away from shaco's original spot, then shaco himself will receive 90/70/50% of the incoming
damage, based on ult rank* ^
*the secondary doll receives 50% increased damage, but this does not increase the damaged dealt to shaco himself*
*inhabiting a doll or killing an enemy will give you one stack of your w*
in addition, while shaco is near a box, he can click on it to go into stealth. While in stealth, he can freely blink to any
boxes that are "connected" to each other.
*this stealth lasts for 3 seconds, and adds an extra second per blink. There is also an audio queue when shaco blinks.*
*shaco can only blink to one box for its entire life span*
*If shaco travels more than 250 units away from a box's outer hit box, the stealth will end.*
q, makeshift knife:
passive: shaco's first auto from behind an enemy will crit and mark them. if shaco has more ap than ad, this auto will
crit in magic damage. if his ap is within 50 of his ad, it will deal half magic and half physical damage.
active: shank an enemy, dealing physical damage. if cast on a marked enemy, you can blink anywhere within a 500 unit field
around them, stealthing for 1 second, giving you a stack of your w.
*You cannot stealth off of the next box you place or for the next 10 seconds.*
w, jack in the box:
place a stealthed box, having a cool down of 15/13/11/9/7, and storing up to 3/3/4/4/5 boxes, scaling with ability rank.
when an enemy walks near the box, it will fear all enemies around it, and deal magic damage for the next 4 seconds.
if boxes are placed close enough to each other, they become "connected". connected boxes last for twice as long as normal
boxes, and while shaco is near activated connected boxes , he will gain 20% bonus movement speed.
*boxes last for 60 seconds*
*There is a 2.5 second delay between each cast of your w.*
e, two shive poison:
passive: auto attacking enemies marked by your q apply a poison effect for 2 seconds
active: throw your knife at an enemy, dealing physical damage, applying your q mark, and resetting its cool down.
this will deal magical damage if the enemy has less mr than armor, after calculating armor and mr pen.
ult, play time!:
passive: your passive activation range is now 1500 units.
active: shaco becomes untargetable, stringing his main doll into the air, and taking three random dolls and spawning them
in a triangle formation each 700 units away from shaco. for the next 1.5 seconds, shaco can then click on one of the dolls to
inhabit it.
*once shaco has selected a doll, both of the other dolls will start walking around either towards enemies or randomly
either in circles or in a straight line*
the ult seems semi basic at first, but i really like it because of the potential it has. It really depends on how well you can mimic a clones movements (ofc with walking in a circle being very difficult.)
The funniest thing about those results was that the #1 most hated champ for Shaco mains…was also Shaco

Quotable quote.
@@nailinthefashion 750 gold and you counter Yi's entire kit
Shaco is such a wonderful being.
The main thing about Shaco's annoyance is that everything revolving around his gameplay has an element of deceit and underhandedness:
- where and which direction did he blink? you cant tell but only guess unless you got detection which you don't always have available
- does he have boxes somewhere near ? is he leading me to a brush with boxes? fuck around and find out or stop chasing
- which one is the real Shaco? is he moving the clone shaco as the real player and acting as the passive clone himself? which one do i chase? you got a 50/50 chance to get it right
no matter the end result, no matter how badly the Shaco player is doing in the game or how stupid and reckless and ridiculous his playing is - *_it feels like he everything he does is to evoke a reaction from you , and he always gets the last laugh_*
We just like to play games....
and then you get the Shaco Mains. We don't really care about winning or losing, kills or assists.
We just want to make you angry.
You will remember us in a few days.
>=]
There's a multiple ways to counter Shaco, his weak points are not that obvious but once you figure that out, you can just demolish him.
A few tips:
When you poke Shaco and he goes invisible, if you had a dot effect like RED buff or a Spell that does dmg, you can see where he is, even when he's invisble with the "glimmer effect", the same goes for every champion that becomes inv, even Akali, you'll see their white silhouette moving.
1. if hes low hp and losing then he either went as far as possible or he's standing still and q'd in place
2. yes and yes, if you're ever chasing a shaco and he isn't flashing/q'ing, dropping boxes on you, stop immediately
3. the clone is the one that you're having the easiest time to kill, the one that is totally mispositioning and would die if you just rushed him RIGHT NOW.
The Problem is, you can't rewor Shaco to be not that frustrating to play against him, without ruining what he is, because this frustration IS Shaco.
Its easy:
- more clones when he ults (up to 3 if he kills all enermie players at least once)
- 2 blinks and longer stealths
- boxes can be moved
- and cause the dagger is the most useless skill let it mark enermies and hit with the backstab bonus
- btw backstab does too little so give it a aoe fear effect
Btw if riot reads this, this one is for free but for the next one i wanna see full payment!

If you keep track of him he becomes a cannon minion with occasional mini fiddle ults (AP) or literally just any other assassin.
nothing is more satisfying that setting up a strategic boxes in the most obscure (seemingly) of places 1min before a teamfight and see the enemy team trigger them....then feast on the ensuing rage and frustration
delicious
As a Shaco Support OTP, it's not about winning the game, it's about making sure the enemy team isn't having fun.
And that people, is the true spirit of a shaco main xD. its not about winning, its about how tilted the enemy got along the way !

The sentiment "you're safe NOWHERE against ad shaco" is exactly what he's trying to instill in you. The truth is the same for any Jungler you face.

He is still a shit champ.
yeah i just watched chaseshaco's reaction to this vid and he was laughing his ass off on how wrong this video is
Quick clarification on the point at 5:35, oracle lense and control wards dont actually disable the traps anymore and instead only reveal them to be hit.
You still have to attack them to disable them, which only ranged characters can do when the trap is armed.
i feel like although hes hated, he genuinely has two different and unique play styles from ad or ap. which is a breath of fresh air
is no one going to talk about the Realm of The Mad God theme music?
That would be a gragas treatment that would absolutely nuke his usefulness.
i'd take that deal if they gutted oracles lens. Oracle lens literally invalidates shaco as a champ already, and that used to be the case until they changed it due to how badly it hurt him as a champ.
That realm of the mad god music was so nostalgic
As a Shaco one trick, I hate league as a game, I just love Shaco. If his vgu changes his abilities individual identities I will quit the game. I know a lot of other Shaco mains who feel the same. We love him for him, not how strong he is.

i prefer to go ap and basically be a support anty engage, ap shaco doesnt deal that much dmg but his W is a perfect defense you push and with just 3 or 4 boxes the enemy team will never get to your adc, makes it really easy to retreat too, it also gives decent control in objectives like dragon before it comes out some boxes and the enemy cant engage, and shaco can start a fight with a well timed clone explocion
playing as shaco, youir life are full of suffering if you think fighting shaco is bad?
imagine playing a champ that is as squishy as sona with a E that deals less dmg than an auto atk a unreliable W that the moment you place it in a fight it goes down, as shaco you have to be extremelly smart with what fights you pick because you cant 1 v 1 anyone even supports can beat a non feed shaco, the strengt of shaco is his Q giving him one of the best ganks and making him extremely hard to kill, but that is also his way to start a fight and hist biggest source of dmg.
you need to be ahead in gold to have a chance vs any champ and even then there is champs that you will just never be able to beat.
as shaco you need to outsmart your enemy make him kill the clone lure him into a trap bait him, etc.

imo, shaco's fear should have an internal cooldown to reapply, something similar to fiddlestick Q for instance... maybe even with the "amplifying damage" part - i mean: first box, applies fear, next will double damage, but will not fear the target
P - Backstab
If Shaco's first attack is from behind his opponent, the attack is a guaranteed critical strike.
Q - Deceive
REMOVED: Shaco's next basic attack after deceive no longer deals extra damage.
W - Jack in the box
REMOVED: No longer deals area of effect damage.
REMOVED: No longer deals bonus damage to monsters.
REMOVED: No longer deals reduced damage to structures.
REMOVED: No longer takes 100% max health damage from towers.
REMOVED: Duration no longer scales with AP
Duration increased from 40 to 60 seconds.
Damage increased from 10/15/20/25/30 (+12% AP) to 15/20/25/30/35 (+15% AP)
Fear duration: Reduced from 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 to 0.5 seconds at all levels.
Health: Changed from 150 to 550 based on champion level to 200/300/400/500/600 based on ability level.
Magic Resistence: Lowered from 100 to 50.
NEW: Now takes 66% reduced damage from Area of Effect Damage.
E - NEW: Frustration
Passive: Backstabs and fears generate a stack of Frustration on enemy units.
R - Hallucinate
REMOVED: Hallucination no longer deals 40% reduced damage to units.
For both scenarios, the idea is gearing Shaco away from an assassin and back to the high risk early game powerhouse he used to be.
looks good to me
I have no issues with shaco on the enemy team, rather I rage to see shaco on my own team.

I play him for 10 years.. i love him so much. If they ever rework him ill stop playing the game. I have over 98% of my games on him in ranked :) i love him

@@realslimshaco Riot please rework Shaco. It's good for everyone, because it means less shaco players.
the use of rotmg music brought me back
Shaco boxes fear for 1.5 seconds.
Unless you're placing boxes in advance, then you can get a 4 second fear at max W level.
i love that you stuck to your roots and used rotmg music
It's great how many people hate him. As a shaco otp he is wildly easy to counter if you know his tricks.
PROUD SHACO OTP HERE.
TBH he is piss useless compared to the meta champs. I can be 15-2 and get 1v1'd by the 2-4 Sett. Once you get above plat the cheap kills from laners overstaying dry up and its hard to climb with him.
Rotmg song? God I wasn't expecting this
Just because a champion's design is not a likable one does not mean it is a bad one.
Based
It’s not bad by any means, it’s just the most annoying to deal with compared to other champs
except shaco is both unlikable and a toxic design saauurr…
True. I'd argue it's pretty bad in this case, though.
@@inmanis2924 thats the whole point. Shaco is designed around creating chaos and making the enemiesas frustrated as possible
Aphelios, the 200 years experience
Shaco, the box
Its odd that while you hate champions that win games by not engaging, I love them, the game is so boring without champions that have alternate win conditions to just "Lets fight". I guess a good way of putting it is that I love approaching the game in a way where I can try and use the odd chracters and their odd approaches to win games, more so than just improving my micro skill, since its something I have always sucked at, and Shaco is an example of one of those odd characters.
No one wants to NOT play the game. Its much more than simply fighting or engaging. There's a reason no one likes Singed or Yuumi. Singed forces you to just not play (same with Shitco) and Yuumi can win by not playing.
that rotmg music in the background tho
Never heard about anyone, myself included, saying shaco is his n1 most hated champion. That title would in my opinion fit to king of unfairness and unoutplayability - YASOU.
?
Yasuo is very out playable what do you mean
You should also make a "Why No one Hates 'x champion'" series and cover the complete opposite end of the spectrum; also look at the champions that no one (or at least a very small amount of people) seems to have much of a problem with.
Vars bustin out the rotmg music? My man
watching the visuals of this video aged me by 20 years. I hate shaco so much, man. Even seeing him played raises my blood pressure.
Let me help you with that.
9:06 yeah the point is you have to play the isanity so it exploding without punishing the enemy for being reckless is lazy, so instead:
Remain's in control for up to 18 seconds, afterwards dissapearing.
Fun fact about that pool: The most hated champion for Shaco mains was... Shaco. This really proves that you need a completely different mental state to main this champion
14:19 where did riot announce a VGU for Shaco? Any sources? He got some changes in 2022 but this video is from 2023.
Realm of the mad god music in the background lmfao
The background music from the start of this video is from an old game called "Realm of the Mad God"
Brings back some memories
It’s been a year or 2 since I’ve played Realm of the Mad God, so randomly hearing the original music honestly made me happy
