The C70 looks like it holds on to more colour information when its pushed. That's something I really like about the C70s sensor, the colours are really well saturated and clean. Also don't forget with the speedbooster attached to the C70, it exposes 1 stop brighter than the ISO would suggest, so if you have the speedbooster you're probably only loosing out 1 stop of clean ISO performance to the C80. I actually like the soft look of the C70 too... it makes me look less ugly :), so I'm hanging on to my 2 C70s. Still really great cameras.
This is indeed a very interesting release. I’ve shot a lot of work with my C70 since 2020 and pre-ordered the C400 as it has the upgrades I really want. RAW, Removable handle for on the gimbal, the triple ISO for run&gun work and the improved auto focus. I want to replace my RED Komodo, not my C70. That is why for me the ability to shoot 6k 60p in RAW is a big reason this is an actual upgrade. It’s why I felt the C400 could replace my RED Komodo and be a better combo with the C70 than the Komodo ever could be. If the C80 could have done FF (6k) RAW 60P (aka use CF Express B) I might have changed my pre-order. However my bullet proof plan to use the c400 and C70 in tandem is now shattered as the C80 is clearly tailored perfectly to be the B-cam to a C400 A-cam setup haha. For now I’m quite excited still for the c400 and I hope it will start shipping soon.
Awesome! This is a huge upgrade from the C70 for me at least. I’m more likely to be getting the C400 to use alongside my C70! Great video, cheers Carl!

There was more detail in the shadows in the C70 test footage while the C80 shadows looked a bit crushed, but I'll sacrifice some shadow detail for cleaner images. Waiting for more tests on noise performance, but this seems to be the next step for me. Great review, thanks!
@moussasah2710 no wave form monitors, no ND filters, you can only output 4k video files instead of the full 6k readout... literally the only thing saving Sony is there Auto Focus for a kids who don't know how to manual focus or that allow the camera to control them and not the other way around 🤡
Notice how much less contrasty the c70 is? Not the highlights, bot the shadows seem to be more lifted. That's the effect of it having having more dynamic range, which is quite interesting. That's about 0.5-1 stop difference in DR
We have to wait for production units to know for sure. (as the noise at ISO 800 tests in this video did surprise me!) But the general consensus is that C70 / C300 III have slightly (maybe 0.5 stops) more DR than C80 / C400 Personally though, the advantages that C400 / C80 bring far outweigh that
