Hard coated Plexiglass / acrylic or even better Polycarbonate / Lexan would have been a better choice for the windows, more expensive but with much higher scratch resistance. Also, the epoxy degrades from UV radiation and needs spar varnish for protection. This is the most beautiful truck camper that I have seen, much like the gorgeous cedar strip canoes and kayaks. @@airlandsea YES test it out and test out the corners... so id advise just running the sheet long when you "soak" it in like when you see us do it BUT when you see us come back the next day and we cut off the overhang THAT WAS A MISTAKE we should of done was when we soaked the fiberglass we should of wrap the edges well wet and went over it agian with the next sheet and should over overlapped seams, you want to "glue" or "tape" then that is the way. glad this helps. i will have to make a video perhaps of "what i learned"

Love your build. In the process of doing my own and there aren't many topper\campers out there. I'm going to be doing my first fiberglassing as well. Hope mine turns out half as good as yours. See you on the road!
this was my first time fiberglassing as well. the internet was very ominous about it "oh its hard" "hire someone" I actually found it fairly straight forward. one thing you dont see is Id advise wrapping your corners rather than cutting them off. we live we learn
@@ianazariah You've hit my biggest question squarely on the head. I am using 1708 and wondering how I can either "tape" the edges\corners or just overlap the cloth. I just don't know how to keep it tight on the corners while it cures. I'm thinking peal ply and tape? Will be interesting to see how it works. I need to try some test pieces, like you did.
@@ianazariah I think I'll be doing some tests over the winter and be ready for warmer weather in the spring. Thanks for the advice.
@@airlandsea no problem, and I found out while doing repairs in nov once that epoxy takes a LONG time to cure when cold
That is a beautiful work of art! Amazing craftsmanship, refreshing to see your camper in the sea of metal truck canopies around
thanks so much, after being inspired by some builds in the first edition of the book I wanted to try my hand at building my own. Lloyds books have many amazing builds
it´s absolut amazing unikat... congratulation...
This is a lot better than towing, u have it molded 2 the truck as a one piece, looks lot better also
Well done! Beautiful! Enjoy the adventures. Cheers ontario Canada.
