Well... it told you guys we are going full send! in today's video we pick up a car to start pursuing my dreams... today we are the proud owner of a Porsche 986 Boxster cup car! This will be the car i learn how to wheel to wheel race in and start my racing journey. We recently got my full competition racing license, so it's time to put it to use.

I’ve been driving my 911 swapped 986 S for about 2 years now. It’s such a good platform with the benefit of OEM and aftermarket parts sharing. You can bolt on fit RSR equipment to these cars! Truly love it
996 rsr mirrors fit the 986/987 and look the part. You should take a look into them. Also Motorsport shifter would look much more at home than the stock shift box. Looks like a good starting platform and I’m sure you’ll make it that much more rad.

Dustin please do a subscriber track day. Each month or whatever, you get subscribers to go to the track and all use the same car that will be used for this challenge to put down their best time of 3 laps. At the end of the year, the top 5 subscribers do a shoot out and first place gets a trophy

Would be dope - but the logistics, safety, and cost would be absurd.
It would be more feasible for him to do that for VIP Legends members, as I'm fairly sure there are less of them than there are YT subs, lol. I couldn't imagine the logistics of offering a track day for over 800k people to show up to, that would be nucking futs!

Miata’s are cheap and fun as hell. They can easily have a roll cage be put in, and just slap a nice set of track tires and you’re good. I volunteer to go first 😭😭😭 and also he would pick maybe a handful of subs at random. Not just open it up for everyone lol

My late dad was a lifer in PCA and SCCA racing. His last couple cars before he passed were a few 996 gt3 cup cars and the last one was a 997 gt3 cup.
My favorite cars were the ones he built back in the day before he got into cup cars… a yellow 74 911s (long hood and done to replicate the 73 RS), and a 1995 993 (that he built from two wrecked cars, welded the good halves together lol)….

Spec Miata is actually more competitive. They literally weigh everything to get the lightest component possible and they go for the color black because it is the lightest paint color with the least amount of coats.
Most cup cars are stripped so you may want to check if the frame/rails are coated, if not you do not want to drive it in wet conditions otherwise you’ll rust the frame from the inside out.
Now the real journey begins

Get yourself another Racetech seat for the driver, with the extra head restraint wings. You can use the seat already fitted for passenger when needed

Cayman/Boxster is a better racing platform than the 911. Mid engine instead of rear, super light weight, and mostly bulletproof. Also +1 for the numeric shifter. I have it and their cables in my 991 and it’s worth all the hype. Transforms the experience.
Full fire suppression system is sick, I was just gonna suggest that. Glad the car already has it 👏🏻👏🏻

Awesome, congrats! Just fyi, a Spec Boxster is not a Cup car though. A Porsche Cup car is a spec car for Porsche Carrera Cup. Typically a GT3 variant.

The car could probably be registered cuz it’s mostly stock. The only problem probably would be the seat belts I think you need a stock belt and a cat of course.

Solo time attack at the lower levels is BORING as hell man...This is the way! No joke youre gonna get 20x the seat time, learn how to race around other cars and fundamentals of W2W, get way more varied experience on a lot more tracks, and start learning more chassis and setup thatll help all around.
Boxsters are more balanced than 911s (porsche guy here with a 911) - nice car 🎉
