I think this car's had 3 owners. The first owner must have been someone with a lot of money and know-how to put it together. After that, someone else bought it from the original, who didn't know what they were doing. Most likely someone young. Now we have a scraplife guys and they can do it right.
@@LeeCI thought that till I saw the condition of the cylinder walls and pistons. That new guy had to be so bad it burnt up on the first start. Otherwise the inside of that engine would surely be beat up, or Steve is just that good. Because we all know someone welding like that and leaving it “visible”, and securing the charging/cooling system like that is beating the shit out of that thing.

I just discovered this channel today. I'm not necessarily a Corvette guy but I do appreciate big HP engines. Looks like that 427 is a real winner. There is a lot of good parts stuffed in there. Good job boys. It's a good feeling when you have that stroke of luck. Years ago, before internet, I found a 327 in Auto Trader. Just said needs rebuild. The price was right so I went to look at it. Turned out it wasn't just the long block. He had every part to rebuild it. And they weren't factory parts. All high performance. It also came with a powerglide and a brand new set of long tube headers. This was 1989 and I got everything for $400. I couldn't get it loaded in my truck fast enough. I was worried the guy was gonna change his mind. I ended up getting a different cam, oil pump, and had my machinest friend do some head work. I was less than a thousand bucks in that motor. It was brilliant. Loads of torque, sounded excellent. Not sure of the HP, but we estumated 450-475.
You're absolutely right, I didn't mean they were "just decent". I meant decent as in one of the good aftermarket alternators! Listening back I can see how it didn't come across that way.
That 19' is boss, only thing I think is missing is a good bass system. It's the last year before the c8, with front engine and rear drive. I'll keep supporting, because I love what y'all do.
What a find, one thing I did notice around 20:00 mark, that looks like the secondary drive system. So rather than most "flip drive" kits (which usually slip and cause voltage issues at WOT), it has a custom balancer with ANOTHER dedicated drive belt to the accessory jack shaft pulley separate from the belt that runs the AC compressor. So instead of 3 belts, it should use 4 belts total to drive everything. Just something to remember when its all going back together, I'm sure you guys would've noticed anyways.

Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose but no guts no glory. If I was going to buy a fun car the Corvette would be near the top of the list, I hope they never stop making them. I was so happy to see them retain the V8 on the current model. If I was GM I would make a smaller V8 maybe around 3.5L and put that in their passenger cars with a truck tranny.

It's a C6 GS manual car so the LS3 that came out was a handbuilt engine with dry sump oiling. The LSX is stronger (and heavier) but the stock motor was a pretty good foundation, too. Also, if you want a really buttery smooth short throw shifter, try a Core shifter.
The way you speak and present your videos reminds me of how horsepower tv used to do it. And I am thoroughly impressed! Keep doing what you're doing, it's refreshing and also nostalgic

If you are hearing a lot of beeping from the Escort its most likely their radar detector / Laser Jammer combo. The beeping occurs because the previous owner didn’t disable the X and K radar bands that are almost never used by police anymore. Escort has a band select function that allows the operator to do this, and the beeping will go away. The two mounted black boxes are the laser receivers but there should also be another receiver for the radar waves.
