Guys, love the comments and suggestions you guys have. For now on I won’t use any audio ducking in the Tool Reaction Vids and to help help y’all understand I don’t watch other creators before I do my reactions. I want them to 100% genuine mistakes included. This channel is about a Journey of Discovery thru Music and all I ask is for you guys help thru the rabbit hole
That's what we're here for! Genuine reactions 😊. Love it! Keep going, and of course spiral out 😵💫🌀
I love it!
Wish you had found the upload on youtube that has the two tracks merged together in one video like it plays on the album.
Love that you love Tool so much. Not a lot of bands i listened to in my teens that i still love. Tool, Deftones... that's pretty much it lol. Rancid, maybe.
This channel needs more recognition. Its not easy to find creators reacting in such an honest way!
True
Agreed. I’ve seen many. There are a select few that I actually watch.
I’ve tried some and just couldn’t do it. Overreacting, talking nonsense. I hate to not listen to a TOOL reaction bud some people are just crap at it.
You sir, are not one of those. Keep it up!
Agreed
agreed...to you, @godzilla928 & also you @kobrakai79...muggs feels ENTIRELY true to life
Yes! You actually feel the sound as a whole. ❤❤
I call these songs "Church". Whenever I feel like I need to connect to the beyond or I'm on mushies, these are the songs.
Some choose alcohol, nicotine, synthetics to cope with trauma...some choose TOOL, mushrooms and DMT to live. X
Bro, on Wednesday I listened to Lateralus on mushrooms for the first time in my life and it was glorious, I can't wait to listen to this on my next trip.
Shrooms helped me get off alcohol, antidepressants, antianxiety, and I haven't had a panic attack or even felt remotely close to being so distressed since I started doing them. Tool on shrooms showed me how much more I am able to enjoy music. It's beautiful ❤️
TOOL is my gospel music.
Agreed
hey brother ive been addicted to anything u mentioned up there im only 26 now and tellin u its not worth it...abusing ur mind with dopamine hits like a fkin mule once u sober up for a year or so and see how much not normal you are
i do mma, smoke weed from time to time to "cope" right? but dmt and shrooms on real regular basis, fry ur brain of "thinking" they empty it by "nirvana" and fill it with ego and nothing, cant explain, theres a reason why James Maynard Kennan said , that he thought "drugs should be a spice and not the main course" and later in life he sad "i wish ive never done anything i would connect to Earth so much more" becuse its true!
HARDEST THING A PERSON CAN DO IS WALK AROUND WHOLE HIS LIFE NEVER EVEN DRINKING COFFE,LET ALONE SMOKING ANYTHING OR TKAING ANYTHING MIND ALTERING!!!!!!!!!!! thats a fact, stop normalizing receational drug use , its NOT COOL even tho i was junkie and now i smoke 30g of weed a month, brian rewired story over forever, never 100% "never me and i dub the unforgiven"
wish you best life my brother from deepness of my heart! dont get mad i was just feeling inspired to tlak to you cause i see myself in u!
Tool started off as a "joke" and turned into...not a joke.
Everything they do is perfection. I never really got into them when I was younger and they were "popular" in the 90's, but now that I'm older...I get it.
Every member of the band is an INSTRUMENT, a TOOL. If you listen to enough of their stuff you'll get it. They're unlike any other band on the planet IMO.
Honestly, one of the most underrated bands of all time IMHO.
Underrated, yes, but those who know, KNOW !
Sounds like we're a dumb kid.
Were*
early Maynards voice was no joke.
Man, listening to this back-to-back... You really get sucked in. The third eye opens. Seeing it live is an outer body experience.
Tool has their singles and all their songs, in my opinion, are amazing. But they’re one of those bands who takes you on a journey, and you need to take time to enjoy them by listening to their albums all the way through. That’s the best way to experience this band.
If you want to do another Tool doubleheader, do Pushit (studio) and Pushit (Salival live). They’re two different versions of the same song, and one is a live performance. Plus, that song is probably in my top 5 Tool songs.
I may be a heretic, but I don't get Pushit (Salival)... I think the album version is head and sholders above it.
(you may commense the stoning...) :D
Disposition->Reflection->Triad is way better threesome.
@@EiriUesugiKun nothing wrong with having that opinion! I at first felt the same but with more listens I felt the saliva version gradually became my favorite between the two but both versions are just awesome to me! 😁
@@Kayfabe922 Yeah.. For me the re-listens have done nothing.. I have tried but the album version is still the best.
But that's because we are different persons. :D And the Salival-version is not "HATEBAD" I just think that the album version is better.
I saw Tool live at an outdoor venue in 1997 or 98 ? The sun was starting to set as they started Pushit. For the whole song there was a red & orange glow everywhere. Just as the song ended, it became dark. It was a weird sort of divine timing. When I listen to the live version, I'm reminded of that.
@@Kathie4 97 Lalapalooza?
That’s correct. He sings around the music. Great insight. He waits until they produce the music then he writes lyrics to it. And yeah, TO IT.
Great Reaction! I am LOVING these Tool reactions. I'm here for the journey. Another full Tool conversion!!!
I've been a tool fan since around 1992. Have always loved their music and the lyrics, but only over the last 5 or so years have I gained a real understanding of the message.
After a spiritual awakening on my part, the messages started to make much more sense. These two songs (really one song split into two) deals with the esoteric belief that we are all part of one "source" energy/entity. Energetic souls that choose the lives we live in human form. Separate only in our experience as humans, but part of the whole.
The message here is to oneself. To remember this duality. The "holy gift" of the human experience, with all of the opportunities to learn and grow combined with the understanding that this physical body is temporary and transient. That's where the line "all this pain is an illusion" is pointing.
Love the reaction videos. I don't usually watch many, but I've really enjoyed watching you discover this music. Keep up the great work. I'm subscribed now.
Tool's about to start touring, go see them live! Best concert of your life! My favorite band!
I just got my tickets yesterday 😊 I haven't seen them since 2003 (?) Too long!!
Lateralus is hands down one of the best albums ever made!
You have such great things to say! A true music lover!
Tool are the greatest band... there's no discussion only agreement or ignorance
I have gone down a rabbit hole with you on these reaction vids, because I have been a Tool fan since the 90s. When I saw you were doing a reaction to this particular song, I dropped everything to watch. I sing Parabol to my daughters as their lullaby, and get emotional every time I do. Thank you for your honest reaction to what may be my favorite song. Also, I'm a lyric guy as well, so love your breakdown of the lyrics. Please keep doing them!
No joke - that just got me teary eyed.
Eulogy, Aenima, and 46&2 are some of my favorites
3:46 "this kinda feels like a buildup to something" yep, yep, intuition is strong with this one. 🎵 😃😅🎶
I love to see people's reaction to this song(s)
Yeah it is a really slow, shallow flange you're hearing there. It sits pretty squarely in the high mids/treble so it's not always immediately identifiable.
At the end of the Parabol… great reaction. I was all like “oh, no. It’s not for meditation… just you wait my friend…”
This is the ONLY Tool song where I would actually recommend the video version. You get the drop between songs and you also get some epic artwork during the outro that some how makes the outro even better
The TOOL army just keeps growing.
I think you should go to one of their upcoming shows!
I'm going to thier show in Milwaukee. November 1st.
Well how was it? I saw them Oct. 27th, watching Danny go nuts on the drums was amazing.@@syntheticvocalist-p472
You keep posting Tool reactions, and I'll keep watching them 😁🤘
I can predict that you will go and see Tool in concert someday! 😁🤘❤️🎼
>"This feels like a build-up to something"
YES.
On the album, these two songs run straight into each other without any break. It’s very smooth and is great to listen to every time. You should be able to hear the effect in the music video for it if you don’t want to get the full album yet.
Just a note on the video making. I think whatever EQ you are likely using on your voice may also be applying to the music you have put in. Not sure if that is intended or not, but it does slightly distort the levels of the music. It’s also not a big problem, I know the song well and I’m here for your reaction, but I thought you might want to be aware!
I can’t listen to them separately. It is such a letdown missing that build up
It one song play thru don't get effect it one song basically
@jackkelly9731 wut.
This is an amazing video collaboration with the artist Alex Grey! You should definitely watch the video if you haven’t seen it!
Thanks for doing them together. I’m 47 and Tool has been my favorite band for quite some time. This pair of songs is my favorite sequence of their catalogue. 🔥👊🏼🔥
Hell yeah, 3 new Tool videos, im in for a treat!
From what I understand he views his voice as an instrument no different from the others, so usually his volume is equal to the others instruments. I believe that is his intention. That is not to say he does not have his moments to shine, clearly he does ❤
Yes, the band composes the song entirely, then Maynard rides the feeling and writes in favor of the music.
Exceptional musicianship they display, always 🔥
When they play live shows he stands in the back with the drummer instead of up in front where you'd normally expect a lead vocalist to be which kinda adds to this
It's hypnotic that's why people love it, nice reaction
Parabol/Parabola combined is my favorite tool song
Masterpiece, i just can't understand why the hell i didn't heard this song on mainstream, radio, is crazy how this music is so good and you had to find it, crazy!
Eternal love. This pain is an illusion.🔥
Great reaction !!!
🌀🌀🌀🌀
So glad you played the last 10 seconds…. Needed that closure to continue my day ! 🤣😂🤣 speaking on behalf of T⚙️⚙️L Army.
“Spiral Out Keep Going “
🔧🌀⚙️🌀👁🌀⚙️🌀🔧
Thank you!! These two together are perfect. If you're brave do wings for Marie it's a very emotional ride and another back to back masterpiece.
Ooof... those are tough. I do not recommend if you've lost someone close to you recently (unless you're alone in your room & sobbing into a pillow. Then you're good to go 👍)
You missed it. lol We need to coach new listeners how to listen to these two without stopping at the end of parabol.
18:09 yeah, one of my fav moments in Tool ever!! I have troubles talking about specific songs :)
When that beat drops…my head almost flies off! 😂
30 years of albums and many of them are several years apart. Each album is looking back at the past and for long time fans it’s fun to watch your reaction and remember our firsts with this collection
I always loved these 2 songs. In the last 10 yrs or so, they took on a whole new meaning for me. I've had chronic pain & illness (we are eternal, all this pain is an illusion) When times have gotten REALLY, REALLY DARK, one of my mantras is: hold on, stay inside ... this body holding me.
One or...two of the best.
Again. Very good reaction! Keep it up man! It is a joy to listen to your views and feelings for these songs I've heard so many time and love so much!
Love your reactions brother. You get it. Spiral out my friend.
Thanks! This was great. I haven't listened to them in a while and I forgot how much I love those songs. Great reminder.
Parabol is a buildup to Parabola. The two songs are back-to-back on the album and its one of the best transitions in music. Damn near as good as the drum fill in "In the Air Tonight." At the very end of Parabola, you'll notice how the tone reverts back to the hushed melody of Parabol.
"I like build-ups"
You came to the right place ....TOOL !!
Welcome to the show bro. We have such wonders to show you. 3:)
Parabol is the build up to parabola 😉
I really don't like the break between the two songs. Parabol is the build up to the next to be played through. When broken into two separate, in my opinion, it destroys the meaning, the groove, the purpose of it all. But in retrospect, glad to see another tool fan.
@@jasonshadley2814 always happy to see another tool fan! Agreed, they should have but both tracks on one so there was no gap. I think it improves the flow in the video!
There are some amazing live TOOL shows - entire concerts - available on youtube. The best ones are HD video with audio direct out of the mixing board. They released an "unofficial" live DVD in 2014 that is multi-cam and soundboard recorded audio. My personal favorites are from the years of the mid to late '90's when Maynard's voice was at its peak power. The power in his voice '97-'99 is just a different thing that's hard to describe.
Def in my top 5 favorite Tool songs❤
In case you're not aware - whenever you talk or make sounds while the music is playing - the music mutes out.
We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
Your body is a vessel. YOU (spirit) are that which occupies the vessel (body)
To me, Maynard is alluding to our spirits existing before our vessels are created, and choosing to occupy that vessel ("This body holding me"). And to be thankful and embrace this holy experience we know as reality.
Currently reading "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle and this song is basically the shorter version of the book! Love it!
A pleasure to see you react to one of my favorite band (my favorite ?...). Welcome with us bro, you really feal them, even if, I guess, it's primarily not your kind of music. And it's better ! you'll never leave this band now, I'm sure of that man. Best regards from France. A huge french TOOL fan since 1994.
Omg, I love this album! ❤
Sorry I don't have anything profound to contribute today but that was first thing that came to mind! 🎼🎼🎼💙💙💙🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤🥁🥁🥁
Your life is a holy experience, embrace it in this exact moment and know you are eternal and all of your pains are illusions.
You have to play them together with no break!
The lyrics for Parabola go over a lot of peoples heads. That and Lateralus. Lateralus is an album that has a little bit of spiritualism built into the songs. Surely from Maynard’s perspective on the matter. Those who know, know and can understand exactly what Maynard is singing about. The music is also very fluid with the lyrics. And awesome to listen to as well. ❤
Dude, I love this reaction. The songs felt new again watching you groove to Parabola. Thanks for the video!
I love knowing what's coming up and waiting for your reaction...
The “watery” warping sounds are from an effect called chorus.
man·tra
/ˈmantrə/
noun
noun: mantra; plural noun: mantras
1.
(originally in Hinduism and Buddhism) a word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation.
The vibes here with you are real man. Keep on exploring tool and all kinds of new music! The one I will suggest to slip into another realm is Infected Mushroom - going insane and then dive into any other song.
INVINCIBLE..please you won't regret it
Your TOOL reactions never disappoint.
You're right, he does do lyrics now how they sound that what they say. This album is twenty years ago and tht production blows anything that I've heard in the last several years. I had this on a CD remastered for 5.1 surround sound. It sounds like it's in surround when it's just in stereo, in actual surround you'll liable to break your neck trying to follow what's coming from which speaker.
absolutely love this tool reaction series so far. would recommend right in two next
Tool is my favorite band. Having said that, I have other group's live performances to suggest as must watches: "God Hates a Coward" by Tomahawk. "Blowing in the Wind" by Stevie Wonder (the Bob Dylan anniversary special performance). "Porch: live at Pinkpop" by Pearl Jam. "We're Not Alone" by Peeping Tom (the performance on the Henry Rollins show).
That's enough for now...
The songs are supposed to be played together back to back without interruption. If they're played like that, they blend together seamlessly. Not your fault. You just happened to pull up 2 separate video/tracks.
I fucken hate that RUclips red or any streaming service doesn't somehow link them automatically when they choose the Playlist!
Wings 1&2 as well...etc
The worst is when your in shuffle mode 🙄
one of their best
It's the Mongolian and maybe the monks in Tibet that do these chants.
Props for not reacting to video, although a masterpiece in itself, it draws attention from the song
From what I know the band records the instrumentals and then Maynard wraps his genius around that= 💥☄️🔥
Do "The Grudge" by TOOL. Maynards best scream of all. Powerful!
Sounds a monk walking behind the our heads, yeah? hahahaha Tool is amazing unclassifiable.
Great reaction man!
2:30 Your voice is nice and this little thing you did sounds excellent my friend. That was cool.
Parabola= a symmetrical open plane curve formed by the intersection of a cone with a plane parallel to its side. The path of a projectile under the influence of gravity ideally follows a curve of this shape....In mathematics, a parabola is a plane curve which is mirror-symmetrical and is approximately U-shaped. It fits several superficially different mathematical descriptions, which can all be proved to define exactly the same curves. One description of a parabola involves a point and a line.
Really enjoying your Tool content bro. 🌀🤘
“Okay you’re still there Danny”🥁😂💀
Celebrate this chance to be alive ❤ I am holding you. Embracing you. For our home. Why I am here. Why I hope
Agh! Go back and listen to two of them together 100x. But your reactions are always🔥
An Australian instrument. They have a program that mimics that sound.
Do you hear the FROGS,FROGS man I totally love FROGS!! seriously when I bought this disc and heard this song I was like god damn, outstanding!
For Ronan, Aidan, Declan ❤🔥from the heart is fire. Fire comes from the home 🔥
2:30 Flangers, chorus pedals, and phasers all use the same concept to do different things but to a similar result.
Flangers: split the signal and delay one of the audio streams, then sum it back into mono to create a frequency shift.
Chorus: split, delay moreso than the flanger, and *detune one, then sum it back to mono.
Phasers: split the signal, invert the phase (flip the waveform), sum it back together - that one creates a freq. space where the two signals cancel each other out, and that zone is shifted higher and lower creating a sweeping effect
Thanks for explaining that too me!
@@MugnifyRTS sure thing, beyond those we mainly have different distortion types, which all have their own character, delay (echo), reverb (more an ambient echo, like the sound of a room or hall), and wah (I think those use the treadle to shift a bump in the mids)
I listened to Parabol/Parabola a lot when i found out my brother died. It gave me comfort.
I'm so sorry for your loss. There are so many tool songs that have brought me some sense of comfort in grief. Pneuma is another good one. Sending you love...
@@Kathie4 Pneuma is a good one.
You need to do a reaction to "Wings for Marie" and "10,000 days", and in that order. His mother Judith Marie Keenan spent most of her life paralyzed over half of her body due to a brain aneurysm that caused her to have a stroke. She could not care for herself, and endured many many years of pain due to this. Her Christian faith was unwavering and for the longest time, felt that God would cure her. Part of this was due to her church convincing her that God was giving her what she deserved and she was being punished. In her mind, she felt like if she was strong in her belief that she would be cured. Of course this never happened. She died in the condition she had been in for years. This was Maynard's tribute to her after he made his peace with her, and after she passed away, he wrote these songs for her... Basically stating that if anyone deserved to go to Heaven, it would be her. Not those people from the church that had her convinced that she was deserving of what she had happen to her. It was a song he wrote out of love for her as his mother.
This is from their album "10,000 Days".
I'll keep posting it: if you've lost someone recently, maybe don't do a live reaction to those.... 😢
These are my all time favorite songs from Tool! Been a fan since 94!
"Vicarious" or "Right in Two" would be great songs to get to next. Based off of what has been grabbing you so far, i think those will really hit for you.
Yes. Must do both.
24:54 - Yeah, because the lyrics are not that cryptic in this one. :) But remember, you can't judge the moment you are in when you are in it. You need to wait for few years and then when you look back you can see how the good things and the bad things have guided you to where you are at that moment.
I'm lucky to be in a place where I can look at my past mistakes and still be happy that I made them because where I am today is a nice place and most likely I woulnd not have gotten here without those mistakes. I know this is not true to everyone. But then perhaps they need to go through few more years and see then where their life has taken them (hopefully a nicer place).
Been watching your tool reacts and digging experiencing the songs I love through your perspective! This album, Lateralus, the whole thing is 1 song leads to the next leads to the next, as you experienced with just these 2 songs. The ending of Parabol literally is the intro to Parabola. IIRC this was also known when it came out as the 1st album ever to 100% take up all possible recording / data space on a CD, and they did so with no downtime between tracks.
This is a perfect album for you to full album review.
5:36 - Yes, Parabol is very meditative for me as well. :)
I ofter listen to it without Parabola.
😂 I thought I was the only one! I sometimes even listen to Disposition on it's own for the same reason.
Love your reaction
This journey is hijacking a soul. It's not about anything but feeling the arch.
I really like you’re analysis, it’s on point. IMO.
Dude the video to this is a must.
