A good man, a great facility, and the type of story and spirit we need more of. We racers don't know quit, but Lyle, brother, you show strength, faith, and a spirit that is for lack of another word, exemplary,
racing is the only thing that makes me live live and it's just crazy to think something you love so dear and has pushed you through times unimaginable can take from you just as quick, Lyle Barnett I don't know if you feel like a hero, you are.
Lyle "Ghost Rider" Barnett. Pure and real American Badassery. Way to get back up swingin and more drivin brother. Keep pushing those boundaries Lyle. God Bless you and your wonderful family.
Mr Barrett, I am thrilled to see an update on your recovery. I am not a nurse, however I was working in the ER the night you came through our facility. I spoke briefly with some of your family. All great folks. I had heard you did make it back to racing, but I hadn't seen anything until this. Just being an observer to only a small part of your transition in care, it does make me happy to see how you are.
Lyle brother I have been on fire a few times in my life and I am not a racer. I'm a 28 yr veteran iron worker and racing has always been a passion of mine. I am now disabled due to a job related accident. You are the luckiest man alive in my opinion. Your story proves that with strength and perseverance as well as will, the most powerful tool in recovery. Mad love and respect to you Lyle. Your story has given me a different outlook on life and for that I will forever be great full. God bless you and your family and have a great holiday.
Seen you run at Shadyside for the first time this weekend and you were great. What a comeback story... looking forward to seeing more of beer money in the near future!
I never knew about this your sacrifices mind-blowing I can't imagine thank God for the medical staff and the doctors and the safety equipment and this gentleman with the will and the fight to live a true American hero such a great sport God bless you and your family I mean the gentleman said it what American in America badass to the Bone
I got a third degree burn to my hand and fingers once…I can’t imagine the pain of the face and the inhalation burns. That had to be awful to go through. It’s the weeks and months of healing, skin grafts and other procedures that are just pure torture. With severe burns the pain lingers and no amount of painkillers completely help they will dull the pain if you’re lucky but that’s about it.
Lack of proper inspection, safety rules and requirements at the facility. Racers die unnecessarily at tracks that know better too many times a year and yet enforce it. Glad you made it and also that you promote proper PPE based on your experience.
As much as I follow and participate in drag racing I've never heard about this. I first have to thank the Lord for your recovery and I certainly thank Him for putting all the people you needed in your life so that it could be saved. I salute all who were involved in your recovery. God bless you all!
I was there for this, I've seen cars wadded up, flipped, motors blown the hoods off, but being at the 330 and watching this, i knew this was not something someone walks away from. Everyone in the stands was praying to what ever god they worshipped, at that moment. I surly was. We come to see fast cars, some people come to see the wreaks, but no one come to see death. I remember seeing that car at mooresville dragway, not long after debute.
A half a second on a small part of your body is a long Tim to burn. 56 times that over 4 sq. Ft. Of your body is horrific and catastrophic. thanks to all the people in healthcare that are just as passionate at patching up burn victims as Lyle is at getting a fire breathing jalopy down the racetrack miracles are performed.
I seen this dude wearing them out on fastest car he drove the wheels off a mustang I was rooting for him to win and believe he would have if the car had stayed stuck
