Just passed my EMT Basic NREMT/State of Tennessee practical today, and this helped me review! I can't thank this channel enough. I start AEMT next semester, and will definitely use these videos again for preparing. I drew Medical Patient allergic reaction, and I just followed this video, and it's exactly what we did in the class labs. I scored a 100% because of this. I highly recommend this series to anyone either taking EMT courses, planning to, or just need a refresher on skills.

Just passed my competency assessments yesterday. I had a postictal seizure state patient and a hemorrhagic stroke patient. These videos gave me confidence to keep my flow going.
Remember that most proctors will want you to not just say that you're going to do something, actually do it! They want to see that you're able to perform the tasks, so if you say you would check lung sounds, actually check lung sounds and say that they are whatever they are and the proctor will correct you with the finding in the scenario.

About to test out on the NREMT skills and written test in two days after doing the armies "accelerated" emt course which ended up taking a whole 13 days to complete. Needless to say these videos have been a massive help to myself and fellow students!
With the pt in tripod positioning they are most likely working for air. Can cause pain to accessory muscles. Chest. Ribs. Neck. Headaches and cramps can also be an associated to radiation due to the lack of o2
I've heard that R can also mean recurrence and also that OPQRST amd SAMPLE can be modified to the patient but on the NREMT our instructor told us to just ask every question. You won't get docked points for asking everything. 6 weeks left of EMT school!
I'm an currently taking a county class for emt and these videos helped me pass my trauma assessment exam. Please keep there updated and continue to add videos for us who need to see it step by step!Great job guys!
Just want to let you you guys know that I just completed and passed my EMT class and cannot tell you how much these videos actually helped me with my final weeks of class. I plan on taking the NREMT soon and hoping to pass with flying colors 👌 Again, thank you so much EMT Prep😊😊
These videos help a lot. My practical exam is this Friday and watching these videos makes me feel more comfortable about it. Thank you guys! Great job.
I'm an EMT student, and I struggle with remembering all the steps to assessments, so I am grateful to have found this video so I can look back and get a visual demonstration of the steps to be taken.
Im gonna retake emtcourses in the future. Events happened that caused me not to get in the field, but im glad i found this. Its exactly what they taught us.
Going to do my first field practical this week. 10 hr ride along shift with the Security FD EMTs and Paramedics. Looking forward to it...but cold and snow predicted. At least it during Halloween DAY. Get ready for the real crazies! Cant believe that Im doing this at 60! Thanks for the vids!
I had to assist with a total of 5 patients but the first 10 hour shift was so slow I only got 2 patients so I had to go back for a second shift. However, my first call I rode on was a code, and it came in as soon as I arrived to the station. Boy was it hell as we got called out for a fall victim and then she went into cardiac arrest about 2 minutes after we got there. The husband was insulting the lead medic, and making his life hell and all he was doing was trying to help. What a welcome to EMS that was! It kind of made me rethink what I want to do with my life. I’m about to take my final exams in the next couple weeks, and I really want to be a certified EMT, because it can open so many doors. But I’m on the fence as to whether or not I want to do this as a full time career, or as a volunteer. You really got to have a passion for this type of work. Never-mind the unresponsive patient, they can’t scream at you! It’s the family watching you work that you gotta watch!!!!
I love these videos. They're very helpful. I just wanted to clarify; The O-Onset should actually be asking "What were you doing when you started to have the discomfort? Instead of asking "When did you start experiencing the discomfort?" This is important because O-Onset is different from T-Time. With O-Onset we are trying to figure out what could have caused the shortness of breath. With T-Time we want to know when exactly did it start. Now for P-Provocation the gentleman in this video asked what he should have asked for O-Onset. P-Provocation should be does anything make your breathing better or worse? Next is Q-Quality which is a description of the pain such as sharp pain or pressure pain. Next is S- Severity which is exactly as he stated: rate the discomfort on a scale of 1-10, ten being most intense and one being least intense? Now I believe the gentleman in the video skipped over R-Radiation which asks does the pain move from its original region to anywhere else in the body? Typically it is not asked with shortness of breath alone but a good question to ask should be, is there any pain associated with the shortness of breath? And of-course T-Time is last which is when did the discomfort begin or about how long ago? Hope this helped :)
Thank you you guys! I finally passed my NREMT for the State Of New York! I now have my Certification. You guys helped me along with a bunch of studying! Can't thank you enough!!! Keep up the great work!!!

What about the last time she took her albuterol inhaler? Have you ever been hospitalized or intubated for your asthma? It's not criticism. They are pertinent, even if they are negative.
@@andrewrobinson2334 yes, but it's also common to ask questions again to clarify. You get credit for asking what you need to, they don't dock you for asking about allergies twice. But yes, it's basically the same thing essentially
Once you get through testing you'll end up needing to find your flow of things in the real world. Some people will be short of breath and you'll want to try and fix that before asking a million questions (or get them out of the environment if that's a cause). Others will be unconscious, and you'll need to worry more about head injuries / if they fell, witnessed vs unwitnessed? Just try to relax and get through the tests, your preceptor will guide you once you get into the field. Good luck!
Taking my practicals tomorrow for re-certification. I'm good in the field, but have bad anxiety when testing :( Just found these videos and think they will help me stay more focused and hopefully relax a bit.
It's funny, you think it will be all step by step regarding national standards and even local MCA protocol. But, then you get out there and find situations where your assessment will be spread out or in some variation of the general guideline lol. But seriously, if you go IFT, don't get lazy. That's what I did, and had a hell of a time whenever I picked up BLS rescue shifts
Great video, it would help me a lot. Just want to point out, when the PT stated she has Albuterol, we should ask "have you used it today? When was the last time you used it?"
i love these videos. extremely helpful. thank you! if i may give feedback, the beginning music is so loud compared to when the instructor begins speaking that i have to mute the beginning every time to avoid my speakers rattling. excellent material that has been instrumental in my learning
I go take the national registry in a month and a half....still trying to get comfy with patient assessment. this seemed to help some confusion I have, it just seems so fluid where I'm stuck thinking I need to go down a list when in reality the list is in the conversation with the patient. I need a lot of work, but with videos like this, I feel confident that I can pass it.
Signed up for 6-months of EMT-B on the website. Love the site and videos! NREMT for me isn't for about 162 days, but it's never to early to get prepared! I'm working at Starbucks until I get my Basic then I'm going for a private service until I finish Paramedic in two years.
That sounds like an awesome plan Caleb. We're glad we get to play a role in helping you achieve your career goals. Never stop learning! Keep your head in the books and get past this test so you can soak up everything this career has to teach you.
Loved your videos helps a LOT! Passed my NREMT about a year ago thanks to your videos! Post more please. If you can make videos at the Paramedic level skills that would be great. Im counting on you... :)

Thanks for posting this and good job. P in sample is "does anything make it worse--provocation or better--palliation?" and the best way to get a blood pressure is to put a hand on the patients elbow to ensure it is straight, almost hyper-extended allowing for best auscultation.
Thanks for this video! I have some questions though - If she has wheezing don't we do neb kit with albuterol and atrovent? and wouldn't he add what intervention he gave (High flow O2) in the report?
I would also ask the patient when the last time was that she administered her albuterol. That helps to see if she has used it 4/x today already, maybe something else is exacerbating her breathing.
Really well done video and I love the graphics for the different sections. But is there any reasons he did not communicate the baseline vitals when transferring the patient to the ALS technicians?
OPQRST
O: Onset- what were you doing when this started
P: Provocation/Palliation- what makes it better and what makes it worse
Q: Quality- describe the pain (sharp, dull, throbbing, etc.)
R: Region/Radiation- where is the pain and does it radiate anywhere
S: Severity- on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your pain 10 being the worst
T: Time- at what time did all of this start
SAMPLE
S: Signs/Symptoms- what do you notice and what does the patient feel
A: Allergies- what is the patient allergic to
M: Medicine- what medications does the patient take
P: Pertinent Medical History- what medical history does the patient have that could be related to the situation or is important to know (asthma, heart attack, stroke, pacemaker, etc.)
L: Last Oral Intake- what was the last thing you ate/drank and when
E: Event- what were you doing/what was going on when this started
Hope this helps

Hey Jay, we're so excited that you got good use out of them. CONGRATULATIONS!!
I'm doing my skills this week and I'm glad I found these. The skills packet is so big and overwhelming!
You got this Dave!! Keep your head up.
@@Emtprep Thanks guys! I appreciate the motivation!
Starting mine in April. Been a while since I've used these skills so it really helps to refresh with videos like this. Thanks a lot!
Taking the Patient assessment tomorrow for medical and trauma. I'm so nervous and this is helping a lot.
***** Great Rodrigo! You'll do great. Just go off the sheets and you'll be golden.
Have my NREMT coming up in a couple of weeks! This answered a lot of questions regarding how it would actually be preformed, thanks!!!
The is the holy grail of EMT videos. The guy is great.
I passed my skills thanks to these videos!!!!!!
as a heavy medical show watcher, these are really fun to watch!
i love these videos. extremely helpful. thank you!
if i may give feedback, the beginning music is so loud compared to when the instructor begins speaking that i have to mute the beginning every time to avoid my speakers rattling. excellent material that has been instrumental in my learning
Just started my Emt course in January, the video puts thing in a perspective that i can watch over and over to prepare myself for the exam. Thanks.
Derek Trubiano You bet Derek! Best of luck on your test. Let us know how it goes!!
Great wisdom and thanks for sharing!
I have my practicals tomorrow morning your videos are a great help im sure I'll pass all
Sounds great, let us know how it went!
Passed the practicals with perfect scores did not miss anything. Thank God with help from you . Thanks
Hey Em, they're in the works being edited as we speak! Look for them to go live here in the next few weeks!!!

You bet Robbie! Glad you're finding it so helpful!!
I have my first assessment tomorrow! This video was very helpful! Thank you!
You’re welcome Ana! Best of luck on your practicals
Thanks for posting this and good job. P in sample is "does anything make it worse--provocation or better--palliation?" and the best way to get a blood pressure is to put a hand on the patients elbow to ensure it is straight, almost hyper-extended allowing for best auscultation.
EMTprep I am always watching these videos because I find these videos very interesting
Samantha brudwick Awesome! Thanks Samantha!!

Hez Bohin That's awesome! Glad you're finding them useful!!!
Thanks for this video! I have some questions though - If she has wheezing don't we do neb kit with albuterol and atrovent? and wouldn't he add what intervention he gave (High flow O2) in the report?
Thank you very much for your videos, I passed all of my skills test yesterday because of them :).
WOW! That's awesome news!! Great work knocking that out. We're so happy we got to play a small role in your career goals. NEVER STOP LEARNING!
Have my instructor signoffs on this and the O2 non-rebreather mask today, this video has helped a ton! Wish me luck!!
Best of luck Mel! Let us know how it goes
why is this the only proper NREMT patient assessment on youtube lol We need more scenarios like this but maybe some chest pain and anaphylaxis

Awesome Daspina! We're excited for you! Let us know how your test goes.
I am going through and EMR class and was wondering if there are any EMR type videos along these lines? This helped get a patient assessment down.
I would also ask the patient when the last time was that she administered her albuterol. That helps to see if she has used it 4/x today already, maybe something else is exacerbating her breathing.
When accessing circulation would you check capillary refill? 3:05
thats mostly done on kids
But yes you should do it anyways
Really well done video and I love the graphics for the different sections.
But is there any reasons he did not communicate the baseline vitals when transferring the patient to the ALS technicians?
+Lukas Smith Hey Lukas, that wouldn't be a bad thing to pass down. Good thinking!
Just passed my Patient Assessment practical and I got a perfect score on the this one!
Congrats Flury!
I’m at AIT as a 68W combat medic, I have two days to learn this and trauma assessment
Go 68W!!!
