    Very technical, would this have worked easier with the Celtic knot path effect or would the glossy effect interfere?

      Like with the path operations, using the Celtic knot path effect would only work if you don't add filters to the rings, so you are correct--the glossy effect/shadows would interfere.

    It seems to me that the size of the circle (which is not given here) influences the shadow effect.
