Sir, it seems that you like to watch Adobe illustrator tutorials and then apply it to Inkscape. That's a really really great thing. When I first started to learn Inkscape, I saw various designs made with illustrator and not with Inkscape. I felt very annoyed. The thing is that Inkscape has enough capabilities to do the work. We only need to do experiments with it that's all. Experimenting Is Learning 😊.
Really nice! The perspective composition of the text on the facades looks elegant and WOW! at the same time. I admit that the 3D tool has always scared and attracted me in the same way. I also confess that I have tried it a dozen times but every time I "created" a cube (or something similar but ugly🤭) I stared at it for a few seconds but then I closed Inkscape completely because I seemed to disrespect "Rubik"😂 Thank you Rick for making this tool slightly more familiar to me🙏
You made my day, Rick! After a frustrating day at work, this is just what I needed to lift my mood. To do a tutorial by Rick means every time to learn something new. Thank you!
Rick, you are a diamond! I've been doing these in GIMP which is a bit more of a pain in the wottsit for the obvious scaling reasons with pixels and general layout. My pre-dawn Sunday coffee has never tasted better after watching this. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks! I tried so many different tools. LPE Bend tool was looking good because you can change the corner bending point in real time, but I really wanted the perspective effect. Slice sped things up, and now I love that little LPE!
Always love seeing what you do man. People doubt when I say Inkscape is one of the best programs out there and your videos just inspire to dig deeper and explore more.
Brilliant Rick. Iv always stayed well clear of this 3D but knew there must be something juicy in there. Thanks for showing me a way to get started with. ( it's not so bad and scary after all. ) Great design my friend. I'm glad I'm not the only one who suffers from the late night typos. 👍🐺👍
Haha- thanks Nik!! The 3D is fun to play with and I know I'll probably have more typos in the future. I bet there are some in previous videos I missed!
Nice effect. Thanks for the video. I would do it with the Perspective/Envelope option in Path Effects, as that would save me from rotating the text in the correct position, since my sense of spatial orientation is more than atrophied 🙃
This is great, but when doing the envelope, I am experiencing small offsets on the corner, so the two faces don't exactly match. What can I do about it?
Your tutorial is very good, man. Congratulation! But my version from inkscape don't have those option: "path effects". Is it necessary to install anyone plugin?
This looks fun but I failed at the step of making the box. I can't get mine to look anything like yours. I assume you have different settings to me. Do you have a tutorial on the 3D shape function?
Thanks! I'm still getting used to the changes in 1.2 myself. There is a workaround for this but I'm not sure if 1.2 negates it. Its from Logos By Nick, and on his channel he has the best explanation on how to do it on his video called Open and Create Illustrator Files in Inkscape. Hope this helps!
Hi, Rick sir, is there any way so that I can store illustration, clipart, designs through inscakpe and import into any other projects while necessary .
Thanks! Great question. I need to get a machine so I can understand the how designs behave in the real world when cutting. Anybody reading this know if this project needs to be mirrored?
@@IronEchoDesign Thanks for responding. I tried it, and I did mirror the image. It came out nice, but the bottom of the cube was unreadable. I'm going to play around with the design to see if I can fix it. Thanks again for a great tutorial!

@@IronEchoDesign I tried it but failed .ai files are directly open in inkscape in my laptop but .eps files are not opening also with logos by nick trick
We once changed the space between letters and now when Inkscape opens, the spacing is always messed up. Actually, the same has happened with the direction of the text- made it vertical once and now it is forever vertical when we open Inkscape. We have reinstalled the program, and even uploaded the new version and it is still distorted. Have you suggestions? Thank you so much for the great tutorial -- can't wait to use it!
Not sure if this will solve your problem, but have you checked the preference? Go to Edit>Preferences, then on the Pref. Window, click Tools>Text and go straight down to "Style of new object". Make sure "Last used style" is not selected.
Thanks, and I have experienced this exact same issue. It seems to happen with the text settings in particular. Hatimi's suggestion below (or above) seems to be the right path. I'll try it as well. For me, sometimes the font settings revert back to a previous project's configuration randomly. I suspect it might be drawing from recently opened files. ???
@@IronEchoDesign Oh now that you mention about settings randomly revert back, I remember that I have that problem with circle and rectangle. Even though I set not to remember previous style, the rounder -ness of a rectangle or the unclose-ness of a circle will always follow the previous project. It's a bit annoying to fix that everytime I want to do a different thing but I guess I got used to it already...haha So most probably some settings will be remembered while some others will be refreshed.
Thank you! I need to get with the program with Instagram. I just post stuff about my kids and I don't have full understanding of all the functionality. Is there a design element that goes with the carousel on IG that you're looking for?
hi IronEcho, that's one nice tutorial I would try.. I have one request, how about you make a tutorial about making a vector dice like LogosbyNick did I watched his video, but since I'm using the inkscape v 1.2 it has something that I don't expected like Nick did in his video. I've tried to round the outer polygon but only two sides that could be rounded, the rest is not change at all and even make bizarre shape, or maybe you could give an insight about what I'm doing.. once again great videos up there, stay artistic my friend
Thanks! I love the Logos By Nick channel. He's the best. You can round corners of a square or rectangle by choosing Edit Paths by Node and look for the circle node on one of the corners. Drag it down, and it will round all four corners to whatever proportion you like. Hope this helps!
There is an issue with the envelope transformation in that it doesn't make things smaller as they get further away like you would expect. Although fine here it can look very wrong in some circumstances. A better way to go would be to apply the perspective envelope path effect to the text path and then use the edit paths/nodes tool to drag the corners to the corners of the 3D box. This also avoids the need to rotate and mirror the text.
Perspective Envelope is my go-to normally, and the first approach I tried to make this effect. The letters wont line up properly at the corner and it distorts the text. I agree with your point that in most applications envelope transformation is a great choice. Modify Path - Envelope is purpose built for this.
Oh, that's bad luck, because of this error I did not understand how to make this effect.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Don't worry, even if it was just a set of random characters, the effect still turned out, everything is clear.👍
