The things you explain are just amazing. I use Inkscape for years now and i keep learning so much from your videos. Thanks for all the Time you put into your videos to teach us an easy and efficient way to use Inkscape.
Auto CAD .... I started out on CALMA doing PCB layouts in the days when we wore bearskins, lived in caves, and daubed the schematics on the walls using woad. Good to see you showing these tools as they seem understated for such powerful items. Nice demo Rick.
You are really inspiring and from an educational point of view as precise as simple and clear: keep it up !!!!! happy 2023 !!! engraved: I follow you from Italy and I share your videos with my community members with the hopes of increasing the use of Inkscape.
Thank you very much!! And sincerely thank you for sharing too. It's my dream that more people learn about Inkscape and make use of the free software. Grazie!
Fantastic tutorial. Just came upon your site and, after viewing this video subscribed immediately. ok I have a question. How would you apply this effect to a word in a perspective view coming forward? I am hoping there is an easy way than applying the effect individually to the base of each letter - for instance TRANSPORTER. Cheers.
Thanks! Good question. Is there an example of the look you're going for? Like from a poster or ad or something? Should be able to do all at once instead of each letter, but I want to give it a try.
@@IronEchoDesign Thanks for the reply. No example unfortunately. Just an image in my head but if you turned the leaf 90 degrees so that the dispersion was at the bottom and directly going down is best I can describe it. I will see what I can find. Have a great day.
I watch a lot of your videos, and learn a lot from it thank you for making such a wonderful tutorial. I have never use the paint bucket before, so I try to do the exercises, but my paint bucket doesn't work. The setting is set as in the tutorial but nothing happens when I click on the image. of course, I can use trace bitmap, but I would like to learn the easier way, thanks in advance.
Thanks! Paint Bucket is a tricky tool. It will adopt the last Fill and Stroke used. Can you create a solid colored rectangle first? Then go to Paint Bucket and try clicking on your image to see if it works. If not, move the Threshold up or down and try again. Does this help? If not, let me know and I'll log in when I get home and troubleshoot some more.
Interesting. I'll see if I can get the "area not bounding" message and see if there is a fix. Can you try a different image? Or test paint bucket on a regular object drawn with Circle or Rectangle?
Love your videos mate. They’ve kept me going to be honest. Inkscape is so frustrating it’s unreal and I’d probably have quit by now if it wasn’t for you. My current problem is I’ve cocked the text up and now whenever I type text it’s all bunched together and unreadable. I would love a video showing how to reset things if you mess the settings up or these are problems beginners will come across that will frustrate them when they first start using Inkscape or the best settings to have etc. Is there a way to reset my text settings? I can’t use text now until I fix this problem. Thanks for your help. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much, and I've felt the same way with text "memory". Mine for weeks at a time will default to the jumbled too-close kerning no matter what. I know it's because I used a negative kerning at a large scale and then Inkscape somehow always starts with that even when I open a clean template with normal text default. I totally get the frustration. Here's a fix that should work in theory: Go to Edit- Preferences. Open the Tools tab on the side of the pop up menu. Choose Text and look toward the bottom middle of menu for "Style of New Objects" Click on This Tools own Style. Before you click "Take from Selection" make sure you have some text selected in Inkscape that has the default size and spacing that you want Preferences to remember. Let me know if it actually works in your Inkscape!
@@IronEchoDesign I knew you’d reply but wasn’t sure when so I just ended up resetting all my preferences back to default which sorted the problem. What I’m trying to do is close the gaps between my vertical text. I’ve typed a letter and pressed return and then another letter and pressed return. I want to close the gap between the four letters that are written vertically. I’m sure you’ve put this in a video somewhere if you can just point me to that video?
Sounds good. You can always try the Alt + arrow trick. Put the cursor between the letters you want to move. Hold Alt and use the arrow keys with Alt held down to move the text in small increments any direction you want.
Given your skill with the starry skies, you are capable of making a Milky Way... I have made some, but I would like to see what techniques you would use to do it, thank you very much for your work.
Wonderful idea. I was playing around with a Pillars of Creation video. Have you seen that NASA image. Maybe I get it looking better by pivoting to a Milky Way theme instead. Thank you!
@@IronEchoDesign That's awesome, I'll try posting the link in another reply to this comment since it may end up in your "held for review" section of your comments/channel
I just found the link and the 3D text example looks awesome! This is my favorite type of challenge because it is probably done better with some type of 3D rendering software, but I bet we can do it in Inkscape. If I can get the steps down I'll post a video on it. Thanks for the great idea!
I've thought about this and I think it could be really fun. For planning, what time do you think overlaps well between the UK and US? I usually film Friday nights, but that would be late with time difference. Saturday morning/afternoon?
I think about this every time I use the eraser tool. As far as I know, Inkscape does not let us choose a shape of the eraser. We can adjust the size of the circle but that's it. Any designers or developers know a work around?
Help! I am getting stuck at 2.23 after saturation 45, -2.0 i cannot get the vector shape with bucket nothing happens, it is a jpeg image if that matters? And my rectangle disappears when reselecting the bucket tool.
Thanks! I don't have an Instagram account for the channel, but you can message me on Twitter or email. It won't let me enter here, but both are in the About section on channel page. Thanks again.
@@IronEchoDesign okay,Hi👋🏻🤲.My there is a question.I already have the bezier tool taking different forms, for example, when I draw a straight line, sometimes it doesn't change the width, I can't zoom in or out, then after I finish the line, sometimes it becomes invisible, it can't be restored, sometimes after I finish drawing a thin line, the line suddenly grows.
Bezier Pen can be tricky! Sounds like something is set differently in the settings for the Bezier tool. First guesses would be to check the Fill Stroke menu to make sure Stroke is on and and not transparent. The Bezier Pen shows a guideline when you are creating the line and its replaced with whatever settings are in the Fill Stroke menu when the line is rendered. The tool is so tricky I made a full video on it to help explain how it works if you want to check it out: ruclips.net/video/ABVLbqeZO6Q/видео.html
thank you for all the great tutorials, I want ask you if there is a way in inkscape to fill grids like in this video using illstrator ? ruclips.net/video/VijlgGEmcbo/видео.html
Thanks and excellent question. That functionality would be great to have in Inkscape. If I'm not mistaken, the developers are adding a Shape Builder tool that would help to make design with that method.
You can always slow down the video's playback speed, I do it all the time-either speed it up or slow it down to suit my time or needs) It's in the video settings/cog.
I've heard this is happening lately. What a strange glitch. Go to the very top menu and chose the second from the left "Edit" or whatever its called in the alternative language. The very bottom choice in the drop down is Preferences. Whatever its labeled currently, choose it. In the Pop Up Menu, you'll want to select the side bar choice that should read "Interface". When that is open, the very top selection box is the language selector. Hit the triangle and look for your preferred language. Hope this helps!
