There is no better teacher than this guy. Thank you Nick, only using yours tips and tricks on RUclips I was able to improve my incomes, learn how to use Inkscape was a game changer in my life.
This is an insane functionality and timely tutorial! Before anyone gets feral with those in prototyping, note that mesh gradients are only getting traction and won't work in the tools like Penpot, for the time being. For the future reference, I'd suggest using guides to make a calculated work with those nodes - you CAN do a perfect gradient, it just takes a good minute to prepare.
The drop down menu on the sidebar where layers, align etc is also has all the panel options in it, you can get align & distribute and things like path effects there.
Thanks for this! Gradient meshes have so far for me not been very intuitive in Inkscape, and add to that in previous versions, I experienced some problems with the nodes not behaving as they should, after much work getting desired results (or at least close) finding a gradient being reset to a basic one with no way to reapply it, and things like that! I sure hope some of the bugs are also worked out too. I will find out one way or another, hopefully not the hard way! Happy editing!
I always admire by your productivity, but more important your content is great Quality. I consider you an expert in Inkscape. Btw, do you know of any simple way in Inkscape to create gradients along closed path, for example like "waves around island"...
I love your inkscape videos and your thumbnails too. Which software you use for thumbnail PS or other. Can we create this type of thumbnail in inkscape
I think Nick already has a video on it, I may be wrong though. And yes you can easily make this kind of thumbnail and even more complex ones with inkscape.
I create the design in Inkscape then I bring it into Affinity Photo to enhance the colors and adjust the sharpness, brightness, contrast, etc. Inkscape alone can certainly create thumbnails like these though. It's mostly just screenshots of the app + text on top of rectangles.
Note to Nick: Don’t think Inkscape knows how to vector these meshes so if you want to save an svg you have to save png 1st then an svg of that. Try exporting as svg see if you have same issue where the mesh was not on output, not in preview box to right but where you save it too, open it with photos or another program not ink.
You're probably using a lower resolution screen. You can click and drag the tool bar to expand it. I have a video here demonstrating it: ruclips.net/video/A9htTluawPk/видео.html
What aro those 4 big color squares next to a palette in the lower left corner of your screen? Can this be used to hold custom colors next to a regular palette (or customized in any way)?
Those are (left to right) no fill, black, 50% gray, and white. Left-clicking them affects fill and right-clicking affects the stroke. I not sure if those specifically can be changed, but the palette to the right of them can be changed by making a row of colors and saving them in the palette folder as .palette file. Then it should show up as an option on the 3 bar menu button to the far right of that bar. Clicking the 3 bar menu button on the far right will also allow you to Configure it, if you're just wanting larger palette buttons or the something. I'm sure I missed a step, but there are tutorials on making your own palette.
Hi, thank you for all the information about inkscape.please l have a probleme with the logiciel ,l can 't do a design with it .present here a personne that have the same problem like me
when i select 30% grey it basically colors the sphere and gets rid of the mesh gradient. if i click again with the mesh gradient it goes back to how it looks when you first make the gradient and won't let me change the whole thing to grey
Anytime I make something with a gradient or pattern fill, if I move the obejct is changes/messes up the fill. Is that just an Inkscape thing or am I missing something?
Great tutorial like always. BTW if you are lacking inspiration for a tutorial, I would appreciate a tutorial on the best way to create a 1024x1024 pixel color palette with 4x4 pixel color squares, and how to automatically change the colors of multiple squares according to a certain rule (for example red from 0 to 255 in steps of 8). Have a wonderful day.
The Tiled Clones feature would be perfect for that (Edit > Clones > Create Tiled Clones.) I don't have a tutorial for it on RUclips but the menu interface will guide you through it
I've never seen a more capable application in this domain, but it is completely unusable for anyone who is familiar with Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Design due to InkScape's UI/UX.
Some constructive criticism. You repeat so many things like, click here, move over her etc. Like we see that you clicked there. Same with 5:45. You just said whats next, and a sec later, you repeat what you just announced. Its so annoying

This was amazing, I thought the CD in the thumbnail was a photo... Great tutorial, thanks!
Glad you liked it
I have never played around with the meshes. I think its safe to say I will be doing now. Thanks Nick
They can be tricky little buggers that take some getting used to, so have at it!
The amount of apps I have learnt that are now second nature is unbelievable so I guess this is just the next in a long line haha

LETS GOOOOOOO, I ALWAYS WANTED THIS
Oh I didn't know you could drag over the nodes to change them THANK YOU
Always interesting and concise.
Fantastic, thanks for the video. I always felt that this tool was a bit underrated. It has a lot of potential. The CD looks great.
The drop down menu on the sidebar where layers, align etc is also has all the panel options in it, you can get align & distribute and things like path effects there.
Thanks, I never realized Font collections were there too, that's the fastest way to get to them.
@@TechieSewing You're welcome, it's also very fast to get to path effects
Damn, you are a legend!
Thank you
Fabulous!
Amazing tool, great tutorial.
Hi I found this lesson very useful.
Thanks Nick! 👍

Wow! I never thought about using the mesh gradient tool like that o.o
Awesome!!
thank you
Nicks is an amazing tutor. God bless you always
Thank you very much.
Brilliant

It's so useful.

wow,, cool!
How to save all your settings when updating inskape?

very 👍
Can you make a video about logo designing with grids
I love your inkscape videos and your thumbnails too. Which software you use for thumbnail PS or other. Can we create this type of thumbnail in inkscape
Yes . We can make this thumbnail in inkscape as well as in gimp which is open source alternative of PS
@@ArnsRidom thankyou for answering. Do you know any practice videos on making thumbnail in inkscape
I think Nick already has a video on it, I may be wrong though. And yes you can easily make this kind of thumbnail and even more complex ones with inkscape.

@@LogosByNick Why Affinity Photo and not Inkscape filters or GIMP?
What you used the green around a cursor? And the corner left bottom for tutorial?
I want to make tutorial using that tool

How to see all tools icon in single line without scrolling down to see all tools in inkscape . As like your screen I can see all tools icon
You can change the icon size from preferences. Also, please check your screen resolution.

So This is why I used to suggest to watch Logos by nick videos.
I understand that even Affinity Designer doesn't have the mesh gradient tool until this day?

Wait until I show them how to make a rotary phone 🤯

seems like when i select with the mesh gradient cursor, it isn't selecting any mesh nodes, what am i doing wrong?
Anytime I make something with a gradient or pattern fill, if I move the obejct is changes/messes up the fill. Is that just an Inkscape thing or am I missing something?
It’s a setting in the Select Tool that fixes gradients to the canvas. It can be changed in the toolbar.
