Why didn't you move THROUGH the layers from back to front so that the globs of color masses accumulate to form the tiger one layer at a time? THAT would have been amazing! It's nice turning but I think moving literally through the layers would have been the bomb!
I was just using Resolve Fusion for this. Since they have script on reactor to split the bitmap into vector paths, and new extrude option lets it extrude. Its well timed. Because just before the new option came out, I was looking at Inkscape to do something similar, but with Fusion instead of Blender. So many options. Kudos.
Nice! I had no idea you could do that! There are also some websites that offer automatic PNG to SVG conversions, but I really like the sliders in Inkscape, especially being able to preview the layers in real time
@@Polyfjord2 Great. Yeah. Fusion has some really interesting things you can do with motion graphics and rudimentary 3D. Or off course compositing ready made 3D and 2D elements. I think your method is probably a bit more cleaner and with more control, but in a pinch of for people who maybe use Fusion already, there is that other way. Anyway, love your creativity and these videos. Keep them coming. Cheers!

Hey! I love you channel and your work. Your passion really shows. I’m new to blender and want to follow your videos but I cannot when you go soo fast and sometimes jump cut. Slowing down would be really helpful! Thank you!!
hahhaaa!! thanks ! love your enthusiastic vibes sharing impressions while making the stuff !!! this is a really great energy-sharing tutorial !!! thank you ! yann.
7:00 "This looks like an art installation". - It IS an art installation, done by a true artist - you! Incredible, thanks so much for sharing! After seeing this, there are so many ideas running through my head. The first thing I will do with this technique is a background for a 2D/3D project. I wanted to do the background in 3D and paint in some stuff, but don't have time to do the whole background in 3D atm. This technique will do great for the background!
Bruh, I really loved the technique And even I have a trick to keep every selected layer to an arbitrary distance without going to chatgpt. So you just have to select all the object you want to move, then go to option button at the right corner of the 3d viewport and select location. And that's it now you can scale with your mouse, it will only affect the location and not the scaling. Thanks fpr sharing the tutorial brother❤
Wonderful tutorial!! I wanted to do something similar with a client's logo but I'm not too familiar with Blender. Is there a place where I can find a step-by-step tutorial for this? Thanks again for this tutorial. Brilliant.
When you say at 5:28, "is this possible?", how did you extrude the edge with the bevel in place? I understand the merge by distance, but it's the step right before the merge I can't replicate.
Because he already applied "Bevel" before (when he extruded the first edge), all you need to do is go back to "Edit" mode and extrude the second edge up and it will already be bevelled.
Great tutorial! Thank you! At 4:45, why do you do "Alt + S" after having scaled the paths on the Y-axis? I know "Alt+S" is to scale on normals for cuves but I dont understand why you applied it here. Thanks :-)
It’s just to reset the scale after scaling them. It’s not super easy to see here, but if I had scaled it like 5 times, the bevel angle would have been a bit deformed
Also a guy named Michael Murphy does quite a bit of this kind of art, my favorite peices of his are portal(tvs integration into the peice for a dynamic experience) and young popes, problem is he a bit of a dick and full of himself claiming the invention of the technique (called it digital halftone or something irrc) but people were making this kind of art for ages for instance a man named Jesús Rafael Soto made his magnum opus a 20 meter squared sphere out of smaller spheres all the way back in 1994 in Caracas Venezuela.
I made something similar to this a couple of months back, it's a brilliant technique which can be adapted to a variety of different use cases, it was great to see your take on this 🙂

Can you use this concept to creat 3D model right away, try---you seem to be like 'Guru' person to me (psst...I need only a few clicks on Blender that's why !)
You could also use the original image on the layers you've imported, to get more detail. Basically projecting the original image from the front. You don't loose the layers, it should be little effort to sample the texture and you get more details. Unless you wanted to go for the single color look of course.

Does anyone know how to to this in illustrator? Every time I try to do it, even if the objects in the layers are in a group, or even if I click to unite in the pathfinder, it always imports to blender seperated only by curves, and not the actual layers that I had previously in Illustrator.. The only way I can think of is to export each layer individually and the import them seperately as well, and that seems like a lot of unecessary work xD
