    Long Distance Relationships are hard to maintain but well worth it. I had a 4 year, 9000 mile relationship. Spent over $2000 in phone cards and took 3 trips. Ended up with my soul mate and now have 3 kids and a happy family. You only get what you put into making a relationship to work.

      rustinpeace gootube Not luck... It's hard work and commitment. I suppose lucky in that they were both committed. Currently living 6 time zones away from my SO. It's been 6 months, with 6 more to go. It's horrible, but barely bearable with daily e-mails throughout the day, 15 minutes on Skype (all you can afford if you work 8-5, and it's midnight by the time your SO gets home from work), and visits every few months. Constantly trying to find time to see each other if only on a computer screen. During the visits you really gotta make it count; don't nitpick about little things or think too much, talk and enjoy each other's company.

      reicirith
      Just to add to that... Having to go such a long time apart... I do tend to be less picky about the little things. Don't get me wrong, my wife knows how to push my buttons but it doesn't compare to not having her around. You just have to weigh what's important and what's not.

      andrei tourubaroff it's hard but if you know someone is worth it then that makes it easier. I also talk with my guy every single night - he lives 2400 miles away. Not ideal but if it's meant to be we'll find a way.

      Mechelle Conrad keeping in mind that this situation is temporary and there is a reachable goal in sight also helps. I don't know if your reason for the distance is the same as ours but it comes down to being work/$ related. The time were spending apart now will allow us more time together later...
      p.s. I'm loving bioshock can't wait to finish it and start playing burial at sea. I play Thief for contrast, a much darker world...highly recommend it if you haven't checked it out.

      andrei tourubaroff currently it's a money thing and there are reasons I can't move yet. We're working towards a reachable goal and it hopefully is not that far off.
      as for BioShock and Burial at Sea - both amazing! I haven't finished Burial at Sea yet but the weekend is almost here lol I saw the previews for Thief and it looks awesome - I'll have to try it out :-)

    long distance relationships really are tough, I feel like it gives you the opportunity to build a very strong relationship because your time spent together is talking to each other rather than just watching tv together or stuff like that. Your learn a lot about each other very quickly.

    Your comment about that book reminds me of this line from John Green's The Fault in Our Stars "Sometimes you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book" (33)

You have help reassure me( espically since ive started to listen to those people) that although its hard its worth it thanks you

We got engaged after 6 months and married and moved in after a year. We've now been together nearly 4 years and have a 8 month old baby girl :)

    I'm currently in a LDR myself. It is hard. The last one i had failed horribly because of mostly bad communication. The one I'm in now though is going well. I make it a point to be very open, and finding new ways to be intimate over the distance is fun and certainly helps bridge the gap and make me feel closer to them.

    It's awful that someone ruined Allegiant for you, but you should still read it, oh my god. It's so so SO good and definitely worth just barreling through, even though you know the ending, girl! There's so much in it that you probably don't know about, now! I'd highly highly recommend giving it another shot. (:

    Only now do I realize how old this video is... wow over a year! Honestly, long distance relationships depend all about the people. One failed within a month for me, the other has survived that time and is still going strong. We actually just talked for 7 hours today over videochat, Skype. (I remember Gavin making fun of Skype on the podcast, so I'm a bit nervous mentioning that. XD ) IPhone's facetime doesn't work well across the ocean, I assume!
    Anyway, again, it depends. The people have to really want it. If you want it badly enough, if BOTH people want it badly enough, it will happen. However, you can't just blame the other person if it doesn't work out. Distance tests relationships like nothing else. It allows you to see if it is long term or short term, for one thing.
    Thanks for the videos, Meg. I just found them today, and have watched several of them already. I hope you are enjoying all your shenanigans in Texas, and best wishes for the future! :)

    But worth it overall. By insecurities I mean like wondering who eachother is talking to or petty jealousy and talking 24/7 and constantly asking what they're doing. Long distance can pick away at you and your partner and cause one or both to lose interest in the relationship but the key is to stay on good terms and try to close the distance and be with eachother properly and work things out. Some things in life are worth struggle and fighting for.

    Some say that relationships that go through struggle maybe even breakups and then reunite are even stronger than a relationship thats just "easy" and there's a difference of it being easy or comfortable. Easy theres no struggle no gain. But comfortable means you are able to be yourself with that person even when times are good or bad. Even if you and your significant other have to be separated or just be friends for a while so the long distance doesn't stress you out with insecurities. Its tough

  • @jenmacq11
    @jenmacq11 10 лет назад

    What I think would be cool for long distance relationships is if you both go to a restaurant "together" by bringing a laptop to the restaurant you like and you can video chat each other while eating at the restaurant. I think it'd be a good idea because you don't have to go to the same one, so you can go to the place you wanna go without having problems picking which one you both would like to go to.

    @Kunosachiaka 10 лет назад +2

    "I'm glad that it was separate; it doesn't pertain necessarily to the Bioshock Infinite story, it's kind of its own thing"
    That's called a sidequest. Game's have had them in the actual game for years. DLC is supposed to come out afterwards to maybe add things the community decided was lacking in the main game. Well, that's how it was meant to work when the idea was still new. Planning for DLC before the game's finished is not a respectable way of doing it, that's just treating it as a cash grab and not a way to actually enhancing the quality of your game.

    • @megturney
      @megturney  10 лет назад +1

      Burial at Sea isn't a side quest at all - it's an entirely new story in a different universe.

    You're so cute, love your energy. I clicked on this video because both of my sons were each in long distance relationships. I think it's hard to be in long term relationships, specially when life events happen (Prom, College) and your significant other can't be there for it. I told my sons to let their girlfriend (and boyfriend) go with someone else (if it's important to them) because if you love them, you don't want them to miss out on life just because you're not there. Both have eventually let those relationships go and maintained friendships instead. Here's hoping they can meet people they can physically interact with.

    Meg ! U are so right about how dealing w/ur mates family !!! OMG ! My in laws are such jerks, drama freaks and flat out mean !! I've tried so hard to please them but just gave up. Theirs no pleasing them. The good thing is that my wife backs me up w/them and takes my side and she knew when I came into the picture they would be harsh (surprisingly she is not like her family at all)....anyway it got so ugly that her family has disowned her because we choose to stay away from them and do our own thing. The funny part is that we're in our mid 30's and they're treating us as if we were 18 !! LoL. And we've only been married/together for only a total of 4 yrs !! Family ! Can't live with em, can't choose em !

    Long distance relationships are more trouble than they're worth, the vast majority of them fail so you just end up wasting a lot of time. Some people get lucky and end up together, but you really have to make sure you have all the ingredients to make it work.

    We should fight for #AskMeg! Like how Rhett and Link, with the help of the MysticalBeasts, fought for #GMM; #GMM stands for Good Mythical Morning. In order for a good clean fight, you have to exchange something like a song, a dance, maybe a jingle or anything that would interest the other Meg to give up #AskMeg. Also with the support of the MegaNerds, we can win. Ask Rhett and Link to help on how to declare a war for #AskMeg and the MegaNerds will do the rest.

Anyways if you like YA books you should check out The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken. Or The Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafia. Or the book Dualed by Elsie Chapman. I have so many books that I just want to share with everyone.

  • @Emily18184
    @Emily18184 10 лет назад

    Ugh I'm 100 pages in Allegiant but so many people who've already read it keep saying they hated the ending and it ruined everything and I'm all worried & nervous about it & I just feel like their negativity is just spoiling my experience of it because I'm so worried I will hate the ending. Not like an explicit spoiler but it still sucks. Happened with The Book Thief as well, someone told me they didn't like the ending so I had a dulled feeling about it compared to people I've heard that loved it. I should just tell people to shut up if a book comes up that I haven't read yet unless they're going to tell me they loved it lol. At least I'm not my friend who had TFIOS spoiled for her on Tumblr by those jerks who made shirts saying what the ending was when the movie came out. But I think Tumblr spoiled Looking For Alaska for me which sucks but everyone loves it so I'll probably still really enjoy it nonetheless.

    You should really read The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. The most amazing three books I've ever read.

    Loving your family means...."There were times when I wanted to kill you, but I sure as hell wasn't gonna let anybody else do it." (Imagine you're saying this to your family / loved ones.)

    I guessed the ending of Alligent and I asked a friend to tell me the end so I know the end (I don't know the events leading up to it, but I know the end) but it doesn't bother mainly because I didn't like Divergent so I only spoil stuff if I don't like it. But spoil something I do like and I get annoyed.
    Also, I'm currently reading Ready Player One. I'm only 18 pages in, but I hope it's as good as people say.
