Damn meg you must earn quite a bit at sourcefed to be able to afford your own place and get both new consoles as soon as they come out. I didn't think youtube was that profitable.
There are some youtubers out there making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. I don't think that's Meg's deal though, since there's so many hosts at SF(N)... and not that it's any of my business either lol.
Sourcefed isn't the only job she has.
Meg is paid by Phil. Phil runs several successful companies, including For Human Peoples. Also, they work in CA, where salaries are inflated, but new systems are the same price.
She does a lot of hosting and other work on the side, not to mention modeling, her own personal RUclips channel, part of sales from FHP, and who knows what else? But its no secret being successful on RUclips means good money. PewDiePie is projected to make more than some Pro Athletes.
I have like 15 jobs.
Power bricks are a necessity to convert the AC current in your wall to DC. The PS4 has it integrated, which is nice from an ascetic and usability standpoint, but bad because it is going to lead to a hotter system because the powerbrick heats up after soo long.
Just want to say Meg, the reason behind xbox still having a power brick is because all of the heat goes to the brick instead of the console, so the console doesn't overheat, thats also why half the top on the xbox one is a fan. But because PS4 has the power block internal it overheats the console itself, thats why some people have taken back their PS4 or shipped it back for a new one.
Meg is tiny (right?) and she was able to negotiate turning it and showcasing the consoles while my friend was live unboxing and dropped his xb1 right on the linoleum. Ah, nerd tears.
To defend the power brick for a second. The most common thing to go bad in electronics is the power supply. Having a built in power supply means you need to send the console away if you need a new one. You could just pick up a new power brick if it fails. And what's up with the PS nails on an Xbox one unboxing?
I got them done for the PS4 unboxing, but they're gel polish - it's harder to remove and redo than traditional nail polish. (You have to go somewhere to have it removed and redone.) I'd certainly have done Xbox One nails if they hadn't come out so close to one another!
Having the power brick is also better because if something were to go wrong with the brick you could just easily replace it. If something happens to the ps4 power you would have to send it in to be fixed.

Well, to be fair, the powerbrick generates a lot of heat so the PS4's might overheat but then again, how many PS3's overheated vs the amount of 360's that overheated despite the PS3 also having the powerbrick inside?
It's bigger than the PS4 and yet they still couldn't manage to fit the power source inside it. The Xbox division of Microsoft is terrible.

I enjoyed your video, but I find myself, an avid gamer, thoroughly uninterested in purchasing either console. Loved the 360, but I think I'll be sticking with my PC for now. Also I'm in college and have no hope of affording either one. But that's TOTALLY not a factor in my apathy...

Never said that. But the spects don't make up for the extra $100 in its price tag, PS4 is much more powerful and is $100 cheaper. Steam Box costs as much as Xbox One, and is more powerful then both PS4 and Xbox One.
Makes sense, but remember that this is launch kits that are sent world wide and that some of these systems aren't even working when received by consumers, so the next batch of systems will have the wrinkles flatten out. But good point, nice analysis there.

AwesomeJausem The Xbox one only costs more because it comes with the kinect already included. The supposed, cheapness of the PS4 is due to the fact you have to buy it seperate! In the end you are paying roughly the same!
I thought the xbox was packaged better than the ps4. It may be just me but I like that the Xbox boxing makes it seem like a big deal.
It's nice to see someone cover both sides of the console war. I am a a middle ground person that often choises PS (do to lack of funds), but I always feel like no one else is ever middle ground. Both consoles have strengths and weaknesses. Good job on both videos too by the way.

Power bricks are used for the xbox one because they dont want it to overheat and the ps4 powerbrick is inside so thats why it gets heated easier
And if you power supply dies then you just have to replace the brick and not your xbox. Your going to have to replace the ps4 or send it in.
I think they've done a pretty good job with the new Kinnect sensor and I imagine it will only get better with future console updates, Dead Rising 3 is a ton of fun too! Great video, Meg.

I won't be unboxing the xbox one as my wife informed me it doesn't fit into our budget :( :`( waaahn waaahn. Nice to see your unboxing though ;). I would also like to see a Meg and Trish get buff vid. It'd be so funny watching you gals or even Steve rocking the 5 lbs dumbbells or the shake weight. Thanks for showing off your toys;)

Look on the bright side, if your Xboxes brick you can lift them repetitively and gain beastly arms. I would watch Beastly Arm Meg Turney do beastly things with said arms.

Power bricks are better as they can easily be replaced. Also, having a power board inside of a console generates more heat. I suppose power bricks are a pain due to their size and getting them behind units or whatever. But I do wonder if Microsoft could package the One with a smaller power brick. In the US, the One is $500 (£300), yet it sells for £430 in the UK. Price drop needed for Europe.

I picked up my regular edition XB1 Friday. Not sure which game I want. May grab Killer Instinct. None of the exclusives got my attention. I am really just waiting for Titanfall. I may grab Battlefield to play with my friends.
Actually if you don't have the power brick and you have a bit too much electricity your console and everything else plugged in will fuse so it is the most important thing in the power catogery.

I will wait a loooooooong time after launch before getting the XBOne, and I will probably only get it for its exclusives, by exclusives i mean probably only one exclusive, and by one exclusive I mean Halo.
yup. me too. I pretty much got my 360 for Halo 4 and I wont get a XBOne for a year or 2 and def not until Halo 5 is out.
So I am a college student (graduate in december, whoop) and I dont have money for either console so I will stick with playing games through the computer. On top of that, I feel as if there aren't exclusives on the consoles that are "must haves" with the exception of GTAV and I can just go over to a buddy's house and play that.

I pre-ordered the Day One edition solely for the controller and achievement. (Stupid reasons really.) And then, since I was able to, picked it up at the midnight launch. Mainly commenting to say-

the Xbox one has a capture card build into it so of course it is going to way more and it is a better console were as Sony is trying to not do the same mistakes as they did with the ps3
Please research the consoles before commenting, ps4 has a better DVR, or as you call it, built in capture card

I initially thought the same thing with the Xbox One and it's power brick, I mean the console is so much bigger than a PS4 already AND a power brick? But someone pointed out that if it fails it's easier to just get a new power brick mailed to you than send your whole console in for service, so I don't hate it as much as I did before. And OMG, you have the same 360 I do. That I just noticed is lying on it's side because of my cat, excellent.

Eh...my brother already has an Xbox 360 and I don't feel like there's a point to buying the Xbox One or the PS4 right now. They are both so expensive. Instead I will hoepfully be picking up a PS3. Basically the same thing as the PS4 but about $200-$300 cheaper.Plus I only want it to play Kingdom Heart 1 & 2 and Last of Us.
The only reason they have the power brick is to keep it from overheating PlayStation is built into the system in the long run you want to power brick just saying
So im standing outside on the street looking at the remains of what my apartment once was, i dont know how this happened, i woke up to find a ups box at the door, excited to finaly get my xbox one gaming console system. I plugged it in and then i realized it was really cool, and i could do anything to set it up. Then it started making a funny clicking noise, is this the hard drive error everyones' been talking about? Within a few minutes however, i knew something wasn't right and backed away from the console. THEN IT FUCKING EXPLODED!
AND I WAS FLUNG OUT OF THE WINDOW AND ONLY SURVIVED because i landed on a stack of PS4s' on the ground level, which cushined my fall.
Thank goodness for the play station 4 , it saved my life!

Well lets see what's inside the Xbone; first thing I see when I open the box is the NSA camera, a piece of shit headset, a controller which still requires batteries?, and to top it all off is a VCR!
ummmmmm..... if it is wireless it is always going to need batteries.... yeah.....that is weird right?

I just don't understand why. From my perspective, you get a decent console that improves on the one before it in basically every way. Better hardware, better software, they didn't change up he controller too much but I am fine with that considering that the 360 controller was really well done. How to address YOUR concerns:
This whole kinect always watching thing is the lamest excuse to bash a console I have ever heard considering that we already have cameras on all of our devices that anybody could access if they wanted to.
The headsets included with both consoles are decent, but neither of them are going to bring home any awards
ALL WIRELESS DEVICES REQUIRE BATTERIES. You can always buy rechargeable battery packs and it is better that you can do this rather than having them fully integrated in your controllers. This way you can swap them around and replace them if they ever wear out.
Finally, IT IS A VCR. Why are we complaining about added functionality? It isn't like this has detracted from any games, it is still a console that runs games. Why not use the processing power in different ways and have all of your entertainment come out of one box?
Ben Nagelmakers Very well said, everyone is going to continue to bash on both systems and it is going to continue until the next generation of systems comes out in a couple years, but I really like they way you said everything. The "Still Requires Batteries" comment cracked me up though... some people... x.x

This is the second XBONE-unboxing video i have seen (I personally won't be opening any next-gen goodness for a long time) and in that video the actual box was black. Was that some sort of special edition or is it packaged differently for some consoles?
Like she said in the video, she had to unbox a regular edition of the XboxOne instead of her Day One edition because it hadn't shipped to her yet. The standard XboxOne box is green, people like myself and Meg who got the "Day One" edition console get the black box.
is it just me or does meg have a really nice singing voice? Yup that's what I took out of this vid...... I should have a sit down and think about how I organise my priorities

People can't understand how both console design ps4 and xo have that half gloss matte finish. Both Microsoft and Sony agree to share certain design features and hardware features with each other in order to stay in competition. They reveal how much ram they will have, but don't reveal what kind, ddr3 or ddr5,
