- It's been a little while since I've done anything beauty/make-up related, so I thought this little haul video would be fun!

The problem with Ulta and Sephora self-service types stores, is the lack of counters for product. Allow me to explain.
All the product is out there for anyone to pick up; unfortunately sometimes people will forgo the tester (or if the tester is empty or missing) and dip into the live stock to try out the products, using the applicator in the product then putting the product back into it's box and on the shelf. Then another consumer will come along, grab that box and make their purchase unwittingly. GROSS. But it's not the fault of the vendor or the store. In a regular store, like most Macy's or Nordstrom, there is a counter and the products mostly are handled by the beauty consultant/representative and aren't regularly handled by consumers.
Knowing what I know about the self-service stores, I ALWAYS check the product before I buy it, make sure the safety seal is in place if there is one. And if I notice that it's broken or used, I'll be sure to take it to the sales counter or manager and give it to them so they can put it in their "Return to Vendor" or "Hazard" bins, whichever is appropriate.
Bottom line, as a consumer, PLEASE DON'T OPEN OR USE LIVE PRODUCT. If there is no tester, ASK if the reps can make one or find one. :)
That's what I was thinking happened. I do the same as you when it come to checking to make sure no one had used a product yet
I've never had this happen at Sephora, but I have purchased used items from Ulta and Target. Usually you can tell once you've opened it and just take it back, so no big deal, right? Well, one time I purchased an eyeshadow that appeared to be new (the cap was taped and it the product looked full). I opened it and saw no evidence that it had been used, so I did my makeup with it... and ended up with pink eye. I FREAKED. I went to the store the next day, and before I went to the counter, I went and opened another one of the shadows and saw what they really looked like brand new. Someone that worked there took the time to wipe away finger prints, tape it up, and restocked it knowing it was used. I will never go back!!

The stores don't have access to the production sealing from the factories. (The plastic with the perforation? That kind of seal.) Tape like scotch tape or packing tape? Is that what you mean? Maybe the person who purchased it and returned it taped it up or something and told them they hadn't touched it. Lots of people think that they can't return product if they used it, so they lie. If the product is completely gone, then yes, they will probably refuse the return. But if the product has been gently used, and falls within their store's return policy, they'll take it back. From what I understand, the stores get paid back (from the vendors) for the items returned, so the workers in the stores don't have a reason to put out used product on purpose. That's why when I see something that's been opened, I always take it to the counter and let the sales rep know I found it that way.
That SUCKS about getting pinkeye! I worked at a counter once where another rep came in with a wicked case of pinkeye, I followed him around with alcohol and paper towels sanitizing EVERYTHING he touched until management agreed to send him home. Extreme? Yes. But I didn't want my clients getting pinkeye!!

I've heard this too, but I don't know how true that is. My mom used to work for a Clinique counter, and if a customer got into a new product and used it without buying it, it would just become the new tester and they'd throw the old one out (they get gross pretty fast). They never sent items back to Clinique. But that was ten years ago, so who knows how they do things now.

i usually grab the boxes in the drawers below (they frown upon that though... but whatever I want the most untouched box possible!)

HeLikechips this most likely isnt the reason idk but she probably doesnt want everyone to see the stuff they have in their house especially if they have a phantom flex camera (I think thats right and its a really expensive camera) around and Gavin may of not been comfortable with a house tour.

A tip for Ulta or Sephora: ask a sales person for a sample from the back-stock tester. You can ask for as many samples as you like. Try the sampler at home, buy the product online. If you buy it online, it will most likely be super new and unused.

My hair was colored pink for a little over a year and I totally miss it. It looks fantastic on you!
Naked 3 is my favorite makeup pallette of all time! But a thing i noticed with the two-face primer (something that made me switch to the urban decay one) is that you have to knead the package and shake it a bunch or else you only get oil and no foundation coming out of the bottle. It happens maybe when you have used 1/5 of it so just keep that in mind.
I don't wear make up, don't really know why but I still love these videos. I put them on in the background and listen to your soothing voice :)

You look so good with the pink hair! I've been meaning to pick up the better than sex mascara. And you will love the naked 3 palette, it is so amazing, along with the original naked palette as well :) but 3 will probably suit your new pink hair better! :)

Smashbox primer is awesome too. They sell small sample sizes and they are definitely worth a try.

If you ever need a new eye primer, I recommend Milani's eye primer (it's a drugstore brand). I used Shadow Insurance for years but this one works just as well and it's only about $8 :)

I'm the complete opposite of you when it comes to primers. I hate the Shadow Insurance stuff but Urban Decay's primers are wonderful. Their original one isn't even a nude colour, it doesn't show at all but your shadow won't go anywhere for like a full 24 hours (long nights out have tested this out for me lol). They also have two or three shinier, tinted ones too if you're into having a fun base for your looks. Try out your sample, I hope it works as well for you as it does for me xoxo!

I work at a Benefit Brow Bar in Ulta. Whoever said we put back used products is an idiot. We send back SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much damaged product to the supplier. Most times it's the customers who open up something, try it out, and put it back on the shelf. Not the associates. I see a ridiculous amount of people open sealed products, put them on, and then put them back on the shelves. We try to damage out what we can but that doesn't mean some stuff doesn't get missed. We're only human.
i don't usually wear eyeliner but that glitter liner is tempting me *__*

I know you were talking about feeling washed out, so I was wondering if you had tried doing a darker, thicker brow? When I had bold hair, I felt like it sort of put the attention back on my face. They were not the scary, black cartoon brows I've seen some girls do... Just a little more dark and naturally shaped than I usually do them.

I'm obsessed with UD I would say that naked basics is actually way to go for people who want to test it out. However, not a huge fan of the eyeshadow primer, I do like the prep spray.
i've been eyeing the naked palettes for a while but have never committed since i rarely use any eyeshadow! just lost of eyeliner lol

When I returned some tinted lip balm the cashier asked if it had been used and I said yes. She then asked how much I used and I told her "Enough to figure out I hated it. So, one application." She LITERALLY said "Ok, just as long as you didn't use a ton of it we can resale it." So I've had first hand experience with their "returns". WTF. Unless it is sealed... never again Ulta. Never again.
