Just a quick tip... when you are checking the (ground to ground voltage) switch it to ohms and see how good your ground is. Let me know if this doesn't make sense. Good Video!!
YES. This fuel pump relay bypass WORKS. Great product easy to install. The Remote start works. Fuel pump turns off when the key is off. Won’t drain your battery. 2011 1500 RAM 5.7.
FYI Justin at 3:18 when you were testing for power to the fuel pump Key on Engine off you will not see voltage! When you turn the key on it only commands the fuel pump on for a couple seconds to prime the system and does not send power again until cranking or running, so not seeing power in that instance is normal! Ahh I watched a little further and see you did test key on and cranking. Sorry if I jumped the gun. Doin a good job brother intermittent things like that are a pain in the ass to Diag!
Thanks very much for the logic video and your thought process. This helps me in trying to figure out what's going on with my truck, which is the same exact model, and almost the exact same problems. It's a real pain having intermittent problems, and S-canning the TIPM without hard facts is really costly. I might just do it anyway, though. Ugh. I would like to know what the U Code for the TIPM was - if it matches mine, it would reinforce what I'm thinking could be right. But your explanations, including the Fuel Pump relay being incorporated to the TIPM, was very, very helpful. Thanks a million.
I just ordered the Zeus. Snap-on hosted a diagnostic class that I went to last week. They went in depth on the pre and post scanning the snap on cloud. I really like the way the 19-2 format works.
My thought is a weak battery or alternator, maybe combo. I can go back about 17 years to the 85 dodge truck I had. I kept frying ignition modules which was simple to replace. One day I measured voltage output from alternator and from battery, measurement ended up over 14 volts. So I changed the voltage regulator which was on the firewall, had no problems afterwards with ignition modules. I believe I heard you read off something about the crank sensor. I have a 17 Ram 1500 with a hemi in it. test your battery and alternator first if you go back at it.
Those tipms are annoying. There is a way to bypass relay. Did it on a Jeep once but forget the steps. I’ll try to look later if I get a chance. Someone makes a kit too. You can google it.
You can check fuel rail pressure and fuel pressure right on the scanner no need to hook up a gauge to newer cars unless false positive. You can catch more info with a scope over dvom for intermittent issues... thanks for sharing man
I did the same. Used a fuel pump relay replacement board from Vertical Visions after spending almost $3k on a new fuel pump, plugs, wires, and engine ECU at the dealer and not fixing the problem (intermittent hard start/no start/dead battery, particularly when it was extremely cold out), and then paid under $150 for a permanent fix. The TIPM, and particularly the fuel pump relay, are usually at fault. MOPAR was forced to recall 335,000 '12-'13 Durangos and Grand Cherokees, when the TIPM Fuel Pump relay failed, but never for the '11-13 Ram 1500/2500/3500 gassers (which use the exact same TIPM): if you need more info, seach for: "Safety Recall R09 / NHTSA 15V-115 Fuel Pump Relay" Link to the recall: static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2015/RCRIT-15V115-2720.pdf Link to the part I used to fix the broken TIPM Fuel Pump Relay on my 2011 Ram 1500 4.7: www.verticalvisions.com/tipm-plug-in-fuel-pump-power-bypass-test-system.html

I left this message the otber day. This morning it reced up and totally died on me. Restarted and went to work. When I got home my 4wd service light came on and I shut the truck off. Restarted the truck and and light went off. My curious mind wants to know could I have a vacuum leak to tbe 4wd to have that light come on. It came on before with engine light on did a diagnostic and it showed nothing. I don't know. I don't want to be stranded. Help with some suggestions. Thanks Lisa Christensrn from Utah
I have 09 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 hemi. It starts just fine but when I get to a dead stop it stalls out. I’ve changed the spark plugs no help. I’ve went to the nearest mechanic in my town. He said he had no idea but I could try his fuel supplement it didn’t help but got my MPG up by 2. And when it stalls a oil can thing pops up on the dashboard I also have misfire on 3-5-6-7 would it be the coil packs?
The misfires are from low fuel pressure it's running lean the oil pressure light is likely a byproduct of the engine stalling out those couple milliseconds or seconds that the PCM still alive but the engine is sputtering out will trip a false positive with the oil pressure sensor
Dodge bought cheap valve springs from China and they are known to break. Dodge will not admit this .mine broke twice so far. Both times it was the #7 cylinder. 1st time in 2012 the spring cost me $4.00. October 2021 the spring is now $20.00. Do yourself a favor before you buy all the sensors. Pull your valve covers and inspect the springs. You'll be glad you did. This is a troublesome issue and a hard one to diagnose without good top shelf scanners. Again, this is a Dodge being cheap on parts issue buying crappy springs for the valve train - Let me know what you find.
Ah ha! So that's what happened?? Had to replace the entire engine due to a blown #7 cam. Mine is a 2012 however sure the same? Starting to start rough now.
I have a 2011 1500 4.7 with basically same symptoms . Found out there is a “fuel pump relay bypass kit” available from the dealer (therefore a known issue to some degree) will try that and see. Just posting this info for whoever else shows up here.
I have the same truck, had the same issue. I didn't want the Dodge external relay and cutting holes in my TIPM box, so I went with this instead and fixed the problem. A little more pricy, but a 3 minute install and it allows for simple diagnostic testing: www.verticalvisions.com/tipm-plug-in-fuel-pump-power-bypass-test-system.html

Can you bypass a tipm? I’m not sure you can.
You can’t bypass the tipm but you can bypass the fuel pump relay inside tipm.
Ram2253spd you mean just bypass the tipm meaning add power to fuel pump to see if it’s good right? Those tipm are pos worse design ever

You won't have power at fuel pump with key on only when crank or running when the relay is energized
Wrong thats how I check my fuel pump you can here it wine with the key on run
That's incorrect... it primes for about 7 Seconds when the key is turned to run
can you tell me what the issue ended up being?
