My 2012 started doing the same thing. No recall on it. Called Chrysler waist of time. Sometimes the fuel pump would activate but not fully and in a couple of occasions not at all. I would just switch her a couple of times 3 without giving it a crank and she would start with some help giving it some gas and sometimes with no help. She started for two days with no problems and then it came back. That’s when I said it has to be the relay. Just took her to my mechanic and showed him your video it helped a lot thanks. He scanned the truck and everything would come up fine. This video saved me time. He said he had installed it in other Chrysler models but not in the pickups. Keep the vids coming if you have any other trouble shootings with situations. Thanks again.
2011 ram 2500 5.7 hemi 4x4 - bypass fixed the problem. Fuel pump sometimes didn’t shut off at all, other times wouldn’t turn on I’d have to cycle the key multiple times. Now it works as should. $15 on Amazon. Thank you for the video man
Thanks for the very helpful video! It sure would be nice if Dodge would include the Ram 1500 in the recall. I had to order the bypass on line from mopar my dealer wouldn't sell it to me. I called the federal automotive recall department and had them put my complaint down on a list of things that need to be recalled. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video, same truck, same durango relay kit. I followed your lead, yes it was a little difficult seeing what you were doing but it was enough. Much better then replacing the relay inside the TIPM! 63,527 views as of today.

Thanks for the great vid! I also have a 2011 town and country. I saw a youtube vid od someone using this same kit on a 2011 town and country. I dont believe the town and country is part of the recall. Does the town and country use the same tipm? They look the same to me. Also i purchased the bypass kit from the dealer for $20. On the way out I stopped to talk to the service guys. They said they never heard of this problem before!!! Thats why I fix my own vehicles. Thanks again for your service
Thanks for the video it was very helpful I got that part at the dealer for like $30 installed it myself and now my truck starts fine thanks for the video

What are the actual pin numbers for these wires? Its difficult to tell the brown wire from the black wires in the 40 pin connector. I am also working on a 2500 series truck. Is it the same? Thanks for your time. Great video.
One change , the last connection of the orange wire with the fuse. Put it on the battery post of the TIPM first, bend the terminal down slightly. Then put the positive from the battery next. Then install the nut. No trimming needed on the fuse box cover. Hope this saves you time and money.
Thank you Kelly; I just entrusted a Dodge Dealer in San Marcos , TX to do this job; I was not happy hearing of the "band-aid" fix w/ a "we saved you money" following it, especially when it is FUEL related! This video has helped me to better understand what they charged me to get my 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 running down the road. I feel a little better re: the repair after watching this and wondered what you charge your clients? The part cost was $54. Also, are you supposed to hear a faint sound similar to an AC or refrigerator running when idling? I've left the service manager a message and so far no return call!! :/
It always does that when you go to make a video it doesn’t want to repeat the same issue again just like when you take it to the dealer LOL. It amazes me how many issues the people of had with ram Chrysler in their TIPM and have not had a recall. Thankfully I do my own repairs on the control board for the relay and I upgrade it with a much better quality relay

I did this 6 months ago and it worked great but my gas cap light has been on ever since. I've had the tank out 10 times and can't find any leaks at all. Have even rigged it up where I can put 10 psi in it and it will hold air pressure overnight. I'm sure it isn't leaking in the evap system (That's what sets off the gas cap light.). What if I hooked the two wires back up that were isolated when it went through the old relay (which only worked on occasion" and the new external relay. The light came on as soon as I hooked up the external one and started it up.

Hi Kelly Jung, great video but will this work on a 2010 Ram 1500? seeing the same thing cranks like it out of gas if you turn the key too soon. Both the plugs and coils have been changed.
Paul Miller the instructions i followed for the recall said pink with green trace on pin 38. My 2011 town and country is running great after the fix. My vehicle had two pink with green trace wires. You can see both of these in the instruction pics for the recall.

My truck had the problem but was able to start with starter fluid in the throttle body. Will this occur and cause the fuel pump to run continues even after truck is cut off and cause the battery to die?
Yes if the contact in the really gets stuck the pump will run even with the key off. When you go to start it in the morning the battery will be dead. If you park in a garage you can hear the pump buzzing. Harder to hear on the street with traffic going by. At the beginning of the video I point out what fuse controls the relay. Actually those were recalled back in 2014. My daughters 2011 Jeep had a recall done to it in 2016 and the warranty period is only good for two years and she just bought the vehicle and it's out of warranty and the dealership is saying that the recalled external relay they put on it is bad and they can't find that part anywhere. Got any idea where that wiring relay kit can be purchased. Only thing I can find is buying a kit which also have to buy the inline fuse wire and putting it all together yourself. Cannot find the complete harness by itself and neither can the dealer. This is only thing i can find so you have to put it together. This i can buy off amazon. www.verticalvisions.com/documents/S1308000399.pdf?fbclid=IwAR2TI44ySgVNPyz6bCsCIuwGYECRNxXTypOk5-Jor6yKVVdX2ibGzHNT5n8

Af Zane just learn to solder. It’s not difficult and you’ll have that skill to last a lifetime. Get a cheap kit, watch some RUclips videos and practice on a wire you have laying around.
Kelly Jung- I have a 2011 Ram 2500 that is doing the same problem as all these in the comments, but now mine is stuck on run. I have to remove the battery cable to stop the fuel pump. Will this same fix work on my 2500 or is it just for 1500’s? If so, I have other similar issues in the same truck! Can you help?
Thank you for your time!
Jacob Cronan. I have the same issue. I was pulling the fuse he was talking about at the beginning of the video to get mine to shut off before i got it fixed.
this is the absolute best vid i've seen about this. I made my own jumper wire with an inline 20 am fuse. Make sure you jump it to the accessory power, check the picture in the vid. Link here .... ruclips.net/video/HcV5oAF1hM0/видео.html
Link to relay
It is a dealer part
@@kellyjung283 I think they discontinued it. I got an aftermarket but the wires are different. I am getting the internal relay replaced now.
Dodge won't sell you that part, they have a crappy one
Why can't they make the relay a simple plug in unit on the TIPM? Makes too much sense and less expensive then charging you for a new TIPM I suppose.
Exactly they want you to buy a newTIPM
where can I purchase the part and what year is the durango because I HAVE A 2011 DODGE RAM
Some Dodge dealers will sell you this recall package some will not.
