Great job on this repair, especially checking for other failed solder joints and not forcing anything. It's crazy how much places want for a rebuilt TIPM, when all it needs is a $10 relay.
Thank you for the kind words and watching.
If I had any experience soldering I would try this myself but I believe this is past my pay grade
@@northwestgaming4049 soldering is super easy my friend believe me you can do it
Thank you, buddy. You saved me about $2000. Very high-quality video and very high quality instruction. I give you 100 from 100.
Glad I could help
The part number is ??????????????
@@margrak-bc1zx link to relay is in the description.
Damn! Thank you so much for the Video...I am pretty good with electronics, building PC's...Taking old laptops apart and upgrading them so i feel pretty confident i can do this and save me a lot of money....2011 Ram 1500 4.7 130,000 miles....I replaced the serpentine belt, AC Clutch, they said i had to buy entire compressor, Alternator, Battery and Starter...Love my truck and keeping as long as i can...New trucks are nuts at $80,000 bucks or more
New trucks are crazy!
Well the task was way harder than I thought and my solder sucked but I still got it done. Took 3 hours but thanks to this tutorial I was able to get the repair complete for $20! Thank you so much!!!
Awesome glad you got it going.
@2TrailHikers hey bro do you have any videos for tipm 2010 journey I don't have spark I'm sure is the tipm
The part number and manufacture on the part is?????????????? Thanks for your help as nowhere does he give this info
@@margrak-bc1zx really link is in the description.
Hey brother from what place did you get the micro relay for the same truck???
Great video on how to fix the tipm fuel pump relay! I’m going to try it out in a few days when I have a chance to layup the truck for a few hours!
This is a GREAT tutorial. Had to do this on my 2012 Caravan and this video was a great help. The relay in Canada was $35 through Amazon and a couple of hours later...runnin' and drivin' with no issues! THANKS!!!!
Awesome glad you got it going.
Just watched your highly educational video, sir. I'm glad to finally 'meet' where that specific fuel pump relay lives. I've worked avionics repair on bench and military/commercial aircraft. I think I can. I think I can! Thank you very much, friend. Keep up the great work! You're saving your fellow man tons of money!💯
Sir, I wanted to thank you for such a detailed video. Followed your steps and ordered the $5 relay and soldered it down myself. Truck fired right up and fixed all of my issues. Glad I saw this before I replaced my fuel pump! My issues were starter would run but no start, after a couple of attempts it would finally start. Occasionally after parking the truck I would hear the fuel pump hum after tuning the truck off and walking away.
Awesome glad you got it going.
Please send me a link of a relay so I can solder it
nvm its in the thing lol
I am so glad I found this video and so grateful to you for making it. I think you saved me about $1,200.00. I followed along and it went very well. I did have trouble removing the module from the circuit board. It's difficult to remove because I'd heat one connection, loosening it, and when I moved on to the next, the solder would re-solidify. So I took the board to an electronics shop and let a pro change out the module. It only cost $55 and I didn't burn up the board trying it myself. THANK YOU!
Can you send me the part link you bought please! The one linked in his video is now unavailable, thanks!
amzn.to/3I9xuZf
I belive this is it but it's a 2 pack.
@@2TrailHikers thank you!
Check out Desoldering Wick Braid. It's basically braided copper that you lay over the solder and apply heat. It transfers the solder from the board to the wick. A little *Electrical* Soldering Flux (Not Plumbing Flux) will help removing, as well as flowing better when soldering the component back to the board. Can't believe they make these relays inaccessible like this...Ridiculous. Great video - Thanks
Thanks for the info and watching.
thank you for this video, i was so scared to mess it up. now my remote start will work again in time for winter.
Awesome glad you got it going.
This is an excellent job! I have a Chrysler 300C and if/when I run into TIPM issues I will take the unit apart like you did and solder in new relays as needed. I am an old shortwave radio builder from back in the day so this is a fairly easy repair with your tutorial! Thank you and all the best!
Thank you for watching and the kind words.
This video shows excellent work and skill. Clean the soldering chemical acidic residue for less oxidizing.
Thank you for the info and kind words.
What a great video without a bunch of unrelated rambling. I appreciate you very much.
Thank you for the kind words
Thank you for doing this video . I did this repair on a 2011 caravan. Everything is working like new !! Thanks again !!
Awesome glad you got it going
Great job and tutorial. I ordered most of the parts from your links and will be doing this on my son's Dodge Avenger this weekend. Thanks!
Good luck.
You're quite brave tackling that job. I have the same problem with my 2013 Chrysler van. I think I'll live with the jumper for now. Thanks for the education.
Thanks for watching
Spot on! Just remember moving solder moving while it cools create cold joints and will eventually crack. Let it flow and remove the heat, adding more solder with give a little more flux if a joint is being difficult. Some larger traces might need a little heat. Keep up the Good work!
Great advice thanks.
Thank you for this video. It helped me save about $2000 in repairs! I ordered incorrectly part #EX1-2U1S, and found in the internet that this part number also works for my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. Yeah, anyways thanks so much and have a great day!
Awesome glad you got it going.
Nice...
i had this issue on my 13 chrysler t/c. I install the after market chip on it. I wish i could repair tipm. I don't have electrical board repair experience and tools... nice work again.
Thank you for watching.
Thanks and nice work. Run your iron a little hotter solder will flow quicker and you won't have to apply heat as long.
Thanks for the advice.
Freaking geniuses..... love utube because of people like this
Thanks for watching
Estás arreglando 100% el problema, te agradezco eres un profesional, saludos desde Guadalajara Jalisco México, yo tengo una Dodge ram 2012 y es el mismo problema y nadie lo arregla, gracias GOD BLESS
Thank you.
Amigo como se pride el relay por number grasias tell agradesco
Thanks! Having trouble with my Grand Caravan, its been a real head scratcher but I'm sure this is the issue, gonna jump the relay to verify the issue but you saved me a ton of stress!
Hope you get it going
Very well done. Clean job and precise instructions. I can see on my older raggedy Ram that I just bought, that my relay has been bypassed. On a newer truck, I'd probably go this route. But since it's a design flaw, I might just install a heavier relay and wiring and bypass the OE fuse panel/relay box. Repairing with the OE design will just allow another future failure. Thanks for posting this video.
Great idea
Excellent! Only comment is to be careful not to overheat and melt the relay - need to be quick with the iron. A little solder flux would have helped the solder flow in.
Got a tub of flux now. Thanks
You really know your stuff
Thanks! Alot I learn as I go but worked as a technician for chrysler about 10 years then ran my own shop 7 years.
1 I really like that video that was interesting to see what's inside one of those totally integrated modules
Not a great design.
Ideally one coats the new work, after cleaning, with conformal fluid as a protection
Thanks for the info!
Very well done video and educational! Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words and watching.
I had same code p0463 low the fuel level sensor voltage reading zero fuel gauge shows empty put new level sensor same issue all wires to level sensor are good is that TIPM fuel relay feeding the level sensor by 5 v?
Thanks for this video. I just did the job. Fairly straightforward. Note, relay on Amazon is $30. same relay on Digikey is $3
Great info thank you.

for the geeks, this is the failed relay contacts under my microscope.
Sir,you deserve a million subscriber ,what a wonderful job, well Done
Thank you. I have a 2011 ram 1500 as well. Been using the jumper wire over a year now. Need to do this repair.
It's still going today.
Great Information Just Replaced Relay in Brothers Truck Running Great Again! Thank You
Awesome,thanks
Great job! Next time, don't use a desoldering pump. Use desoldering wick! You'll never mess with leftover tin! 😊
And never use a hard bristle brush. Use an old toothbrush dipped in acetone or isopropyl alcohol! It does wonders! 👌
Thank you for the advice.
Dude, I love your accent. Great video btw.
Awesome, thank you!
I did same thing on my Ford Expedition I had choice buy new tipm $700 or buy relay online for $12 got it done truck is still running fine 👍🏻
Didn't know Ford did this too.
@@2TrailHikers sure did 👍🏻
Thank you for your knowledge and expertise 😊
Thank you for the kind words
thank you sir beautiful work !!
Thanks
Wow so that's how it's done. Awesome video thank you.
Thank you for watching
Awesome video, thanks for putting this out there.
Thank you.
THANK YOU. I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE JUMPER ON MY BOARD WAS FOR.
There's a lot of jumpers out there
Thanks for an excellent video. Great Work.
Thank you.
i want to have like 3 4 beers with this guy and solder some stuff
😆
Repair is good. You might want to crank up the heat on your soldering iron, so you don't stay on the joint so long and overheat the board.
Great advice thanks!
Nice job! Great detail!
Thank you.
Man this is such an excellent video.....
Thank you.
Do you have any idea how therapeutic that was to watch?? I don't know if i want to tackle that on my truck, but for crying out loud, you sure scratched an itch.... well done
Thanks for the kind words.
I noticed these tipm have more than just a problem with the pump it has other problems with horn and so on . The bypass kits they sell pretty much only work for the fuel pump itself so soldering new relays is the only fix .
It's a poor design.
Wow! Awesome work!
Glad you like it!
Is this the same procedure that I would use for my 2011 Town and Country van? Also, is there a video for making the jumper harness, or a link to buy one, until I find time to redo the TIPM? Thank you for your time and help with this video also.
I'm not sure if there's a video out there. But it should be similar to the ram.
Why the F would dodge install one of the most important relays inside the fuse box and make it a micro. I'm thinking way too undersized for a circuit to be on/feeding a non stop item like a fuel pump. Probably overheats the relay and melts the solder off causing faulty connection. Thanks for showing what's in the box and how to fix it. I'm thinking of taking it apart and tracing inside terminals to outside wires and installing an external normal size relay that can handle constant use/load. Nice video, thanks!
Great idea thanks.
Have you considered making an adapter that you can solder onto that board and then quick-swap a regular relay? I bet it would get popular. I’d buy one cause this is BS 😂 i’ve done solder jobs replacing capacitors on ECUs so I’m not apposed to fixing it hut kind of ridiculous that chrysler/dodge/ram did this on a part that is known to not last. It would make sense if it was a solid state relay that doesn’t degrade over time.
Great idea and agreed it's a bad design.
VERY GOOD INFORMATION THANK YOU
Thank you
i bought a 2011 town and country that was sitting for 3 years without running and said it had the same problem but i just reset the tipm (touched the battery cables together) then put them back on the battery and it started right up.
Cool deal.
My dad's 2006 Ram 1500 mega cab is doing this exact thing
Common problem with them.
Hiya. Great instructions and techniques. Could you provide how many watts you used to solder/desolder?? Thanks for a great video. Be blessed. Be well.
Mark
I'm not sure on watts but I believe it was around 650 degrees f. I think my solder station is 70 watts.
Great Video, do you happen to know what the part number is for the right side headlight relay so i could order one? Thanks!
Sorry I don't know the part number.
May I ask, where you found schematics for the TIPM? Having cooling fan issues and the shop tells me the issue is in the TIPM. Thank you.
Got a buddy that works in the service department at the dealer.
I went with installing an external fuel pump relay following another tutorial, canceling the relay inside the TIPM. About 7 months later the relay got toast again. Currently have my truck on that bypass bridge and my truck randomly dies not too often) when I apply the brakes.
Tempted to replace relay via you tutorial but wondering if there might be a second issue with the wire harness as well.? Lmk what you think
Thank
PS. great tutorial.
Really could be wiring, faulty relay, or possibly pump pulling to much current hard to say. Thanks for watching!
GOOD JOB
👍
Do you have to pull the tip when you do an easy reset for 12 second
Not sure what you mean by easy reset. If your disconnecting the battery to reset the system? Then nothing to do with the tipm.
Very nice thank you for this video I am quite confidant now to tackle this repair. Question because the fuel pump is constantly running when jumped does it use up more gas?
If this is like most fuel injection systems, the fuel pumps in a closed loop back to the tank, through the fuel pressure regulator, which provides back pressure to feed the injectors. So no, it doesn't use more fuel. With the jumper off an accessory connection the pump will run if you have the accessory mode on, no engine running, which will drain the battery.
👍
You are good!
Thank you.
I'm running a pump relay jumper on my 2011 Ram 1500. I have a drain in my system, pulled all my fuses and relays with no elimination of the drain. I pull the battery cable from the TIPM and the drain goes away. Would replacing this relay possibly fix the drain on the battery?
No idea if would or not haven't seen that issue before.
I'm having a issue on a 08 liberty. The power lock fuse keeps blowing immediately when installed. I'm going to open up the tipm. Any suggestions on what to look for. Love the video
First thing that comes to mind is possibly broken wires between the door and body.
@@2TrailHikers ya that's what I've been looking for. I have to unplug 3 harness out of the tipm before the fuse quits blowing. That's what was throwing me off us that I figured if it was one broken wire i wouldn't have to unplug that many from the tipm. I'm gonna keep looking. Thanks a ton
great video hoss, 2015 dodge Durango turns over but wont stay on for 2 seconds, I'm getting the loss communication with PCM , I have checked all fuses that have to do with RUN/START...If i was to order refurbished programmed one is it basically plug and play on replacing it?
The only thing I can think of is you may have to program the vin into the new pcm.
how do I find the part number for a 2011 dodge ram 5.7l relay dealer says they have 2 different numbers i like to buy it before taking it apart as I have no one to help me
The relay listed in the description fit the 2011 5.7 truck I fixed in the video.
Great vídeo. Do you have any vídeo how to replace de coil relay inside the ECM?
I dont. Haven't done one.
Quick question. Are the other mounted relays the same? I have a wiper relay that’s failed. Thanks
I can't say 100% for sure but I belive they are.
Thanks
I will look into it
Where's the link??
?
Just ordered the relay, in my case its to fix (I hope) error P0882 which puts the car into Limp Mode.
Hope it solves your issue.
You can get those little relays for nearly free from discarded microwave ovens btw. 🤓
Lol why would you ever use a used relay that probably is in a nearly non working state instead of buying a new one.
Cool deal.
My 05 jeep started and died 3 times. Now it will not cycle and pump fuse has no power. Will this relay also power the trigger wire for starter?
I would think that would be a different circuit.
dang you anywhere near NC, i need mine done
I'm in south carolina upstate.
can you name the tools you used to remove the bad relay??
I belive the list is in the description.
Yes Sir...I have a 2007 ram 1500(gas engine) I am having this same problem. I looked at my TIPM and i dont have an M25 fuse. what do i do now? I would like to use the jumper just to make sure its not the fuel pump.
I'm not familiar with the jumper locations on all of them sorry.
When the relay is bad can I be intermittent, or does it just not work
Given its electronic I would imagine it could be intermittent
Do u know the part number to fuel pump relay i got 2011 ram 1500 5.7
amzn.to/3vdF4Ov This may be it but research and compare to numbers on oem relay
Why didn't you mention the part number for the relay?
I linked it in the description.
What was your price to fixed it
I think about 12$
What temperature did you use on this board ? Thanks in advance!
I'm usually around 650-675 f
Thank you for this video! Absolutely amazing and incredible walkthrough. Getting the solder off the old relay was a nightmare as you said. Wish I had some solder wick for the job as the solder sucker was a grind, but patience was the key with it. Took the better part of 4 hours to finish, but it's better than spending the absurd amount for a new TIPM.
Thanks. Glad you got it going.
I noticed that nowhere is the part number for micro relay and manufacturer
Link to relay is in the description
Wheres the link for the relay
In the description.
How many of the larger relays had the same part number?
I didn't pay attention . Will next time.
Hey buddy can you help with the ac relay 2006 dodge ram 1500 4.7
I'm thinking it's in the TIPM like the fuel pump relay is.
How do I find the relay number for a 2015 durango? Are they all the same?
I belive most are the same.
💯🔥🔥
😁
Can I use the same fuse for my caravan
I'm afraid I can't tell you yes or no I don't know the part number for the caravan.
How do you pop up the other 2 fuses
Not sure I understand what your asking.
@@2TrailHikers I figured out how it was the two that can’t be removed you just pulled them up. But mine was very hard to pull up. I was afraid I was going to break them lol. I loved your video on how to replace the relay. It was a success but now my fuel pump won’t stop running. I think I got a bad relay.
Your video was good but you never showed the actual damn tabs that needed to be depressed.
The tabs you showed to depress did not unlock the board
Sorry I imagine they may have made some different from the one I disassembled.
I am struggling to get mine to open also. I've tried sliding drill bits to act as a wedge to hold mine after depressing it. My daughters and I are at a loss. Any tips? Any chance you'd do a close up of how you get them to release?
And thank you for the video. Girls and I have been learning to read schematics and how to solder so we could fix this. Trucks been down since beginning of December. Thankfully Walmart and Amazon delivers and RUclips teaches.
Appreciate your help and video sir.
I have problem with dodge ram 1500 2011 getway Configration any body here have Solution
Not sure.
you un soldered a five pin and the board is five pin and the link to the relay on Amazon is a four pin
The link is to a five pin 2 pack. If you are simply looking at the picture in Amazon, it looks like only 4 pins. However, read the description and it is 5 pins.
In the Amazon photo, look VERY closely at the leftmost "pin". You'll just barely be able to see it's 2 pins lined up, where one is along the far edge of the relay and the other is on the left edge of the relay. From that angle, they blend into each other in the photo. The photo would be better if the relay had been rotated just a little bit.
I believe it is a 5 pin.
I tackled this project about a month ago. Had the part forever but was scared to try it. Worked like a charm. Mine had a bypass that was melting the plastic off the fuse without blowing any. Thanks for the video!
@hoaglandjeffry awesome glad you got it going.
These systems suck. My old Tundra goes forever. Replace a fuse here of the. With the TIPM it will cost you $1000 new in installed.. What a rip off designed by idiots.
It is a poor design.
Good video, but get some flux🤪
Got a tub of it now. Thanks.
