    Nearly half the cars on the road are already taking that risk.. There's still a lot of old cars on the road. I think it's probably fine-- probability wise. It's good to know though. I've never seen one of those jumper fuses before. What I have done in the past is just buy an independent relay and mount it onto the fender well somewhere clean. Pull the wires from the bottom of the fuse box and run them to my own isolated relay........ but it's not only for the Fuel pump -- sometimes the AC clutch relay is built into the TIPM also, and I'm sure there are others. I'm not a fan of it: You can integrate too many things and it becomes a problem. Some things are just better left serviceable. I'll remember this tip though -- using the rear light relay.

      Age of the vehicle isn't really a factor. Cutting the fuel pump in a crash has been a part of automotive design since the dawn of electric fuel pumps. Even my 1988 ford has a provision to cut the fuel pump in a crash.

    Hey man, so here are my questions. So is it the fuse box that’s the problem? Or a pcm problem? I ask because I’ve looked at the wiring diagram on a 2015 dodge durango , I Basically have no power going to the fuel pump fuse and that’s because the control side of the computer isn’t grounding out the relay to energize the fuse same with the asd relay. Is that because the pcm isn’t grounding those circuits or is it because the tipm fuse box may be bad internally and that’s causing it not to work? I do have a check engine light so I know computer is alive. What do you think? Have you had a similar experience?

      @@MrRGM10There is an external relay kit you can buy. I heard the official Mopar kit is now discontinued, but you can still buy a Bosch SPST relay kit, and splice it into the harness.
      Doing it this way taps it into the original circuit, and now gives you an external, serviceable, relay you mount outside of the TIPM. That's what I did to my GC crew van. The TIPM relay failed at 70k, and I have 139k currently. Been running like a sewing machine.

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  Год назад

      The fuse this mod takes power from is perfectly safe, the problem is regardless of where you take power from you are bypassing the fuel pump relay which is controlled by the computer so in an accident the computer is going to kill the fuel pump relay but since the relay is bypassed the fuel pump will continue to run which could cause a fire.

    Hello can i ask a quick question... If when i first turn the key i can actually hear the fuel pump for a few seconds before trying to start... Does that mean this fix won't help me? I'm guessing you shouldn't hear the pump at all until you do this fix.

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  8 месяцев назад

      The fuel pump should come on for 2 to 3 seconds and shut off if the computer does not see a crank signal. If the computer sees the engine is cranking it will keep the fuel pump on.

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  8 месяцев назад

      @@durapoker If you are hearing the fuel pump come on then it sounds like the fuel pump is fine. This jumper bypasses a bad fuel pump relay and in that case the fuel pump will not shut off as long as the key is in the run position whether the engine is running or not.
      It sounds like to me your fuel pump is working as it should. With that said even if the fuel pump is running doesn't mean it is putting out the correct pressure.
      What problem are you having?

    • @durapoker

      @@737mechanic it just won't turn over as if it's not getting enough fuel on start up. I changed plugs but not coil packs. I'm also very far from being a mechanic lol so i really don't know what's wrong.

    • @737mechanic
      @737mechanic  8 месяцев назад

      @@durapoker If you hear the fuel pump it is probably getting fuel. The first thing to do is figure out if it is fuel or spark related. An easy way to do this is get a can of starting fluid and spray it in the air filter bax will having someone crank the engine and see if it starts and runs for a few seconds. If it does then it has apart but is not getting fuel, if it does not start then it is a spark issue. Either way you need to first scan it for codes to see if there are any codes that might give you some direction on which way to go.

      @@TheCitrus13 Thats not what the problem is with the TIPM's in the video. The problem that the 2010 and 2011 TIPM's had was the fuel pump would stay on after shutting the engine off because the relay was sticking. The engine would run fine. If you are saying the engine will turn over but not start that is something else.
