But by reframing this loss, living for today and not stuck in the past, and by accepting the loss as natural, I feel at peace, and grateful for the time I had with Poppy. I learned stoicism on my own by accident as a young man, not even knowing what it was. It just made sense. It became a lifelong philosophy. I read Thoreau and other writers like Watts who were stoic teachers but never mentioned the word stoic. It is similar to the practice of Zen. But it's not for everyone, only those who are introspective.

It took time to process but once I started moving I found I was able to thrive in my changed life. For those who believe they can't make it through difficult times, you can and you will. The next is me :) Embracing life is a magnificent dance of surrender and acceptance. It's the art of gracefully releasing the burdens that weigh us down, like shedding the heavy cloak of worry and judgment. It's about letting go of the unnecessary, unfurling our hearts, and allowing the beauty of each moment to envelop us in its tender embrace.
To truly master this art, we must learn the exquisite balance between holding on to what truly matters and liberating ourselves from the trivial concerns that can consume our thoughts. It's a journey of discovering the profound wisdom in not caring about the opinions and expectations of others, and instead, focusing on our own authentic path.
As we navigate the intricate steps of life's dance, we find that letting go becomes a form of liberation. It's the freedom to savor every sunrise, every laugh, and every tear without being entangled in the chains of attachment. It's an invitation to surrender to the symphony of existence, where the melody of acceptance and the rhythm of release create a harmonious masterpiece.
In the end, embracing life means allowing our souls to breathe, to revel in the magnificence of the present moment, and to gracefully release the rest. It's the art of not caring about the inconsequential and choosing instead to immerse ourselves in the beauty of being alive."
Embracing life in this way is a poetic and profound journey towards a more meaningful and fulfilling existence.

First "vibe" is the first step to wisdom: getting things known by their right name. That is, the dichotomy of control. What can I control and what I can't. Oh, how often I get wrapped up in reacting emotionally to the opinions, choices, of others. Damn, this is hard.
Control what is within. Release what is without.
Traffic patterns. The choices of others. Damn you, Seneca, for being right over and over! How easily I'd give up precious moments of my life over the actions of others and how I interpret it.

"it's not the cold pizza that disturbs us, it's our interpretation of it" this one stuck to me because in a way, it highlights that it's your quality of thoughts that have control over how you feel, but it doesn't mean it's actually true ( im not sure if that makes sense ) and i realized how the 10 principles link together and, especially how you shouldn't worry about having control over the external, but instead, the internal. it basically means that it's all up to ourselves to be happy, life will always throw curveballs, it's up to you, how you react to them. i found the video helpful and im a new subscriber :)

the bit about how the quality of your thoughts caught my attention. Lying in bed fretting about things is futile. I’ve begun noticing this and simply choose to focus on something more neutral or positive. I’m new at this and way past middle age and my mind frequently pings back to ruminating but I have felt how true it is - that my thoughts create my experience - and by being more aware of my mind being hijacked by my imagination I can see how this awareness brings in some inner peace and calm.

I think my dad is unintentionally stoic. He doesnt care what others think or how they live, he have his own morals tho not perfect and he has his own flaws regarding specific things... he's calm, he likes peace and loves to be alone.
I've always been told i am like him, but i kinda have anger issues and can he severely judgmental. I dont interfere in others lives but i do have my own opinion on specific behaviors esp when it boils to misogyny and unfairness. I tend to act normal and dont give enough fck to care if someone talks badly about me, id still smile and talk to them if they did approach me.
I struggle with over thinking and inner hating of others and their behavior esp with things that triggers me and as stated before, isnt fair.
(I know no one cares but ig this is self reflection)

I completely relate to your words; thanks for sharing! Over the last three years, I've struggled with complex PTSD, and had I not embraced stoicism combined with my therapy, I am confident to say I would not be here today.
Albeit, I have moments of wearing a narcissistic mask fueled with anger and resentment as my thoughts run wild, judging those around me and hyper-focusing on their faults, especially when individuals cease to present morals, ethics, values, and principles centred around humans and our society. Religion is not part of my life; however, I am bothered by those who follow a religion, so be it; they aren't justifying hurt to others because they belong to a faith different faith.
I sincerely overthink so much around other humans' poor behaviour and actions towards other humans until I'm raging within, my blood pressure increases along with anxiety and ending with despair and disappointment.
      I often reflect on the words of Jacques Lacan, so much so that I framed a mountainscape view with the following quiet;
“I think where I am not therefore I am where I do not think. I am not whenever I am the plaything of my thought; I think of what I am where I do not think to think.”
      ― Jacques Lacan
There are a few people who do care, and clearly, these people are like unicorns. However, after a deep breathing session and reflection of Lacan’s quote, I can stomach the situation as my anger dissipates, resulting in sorrow; I feel sorry for these individuals who take pleasure in others' demise. All I can do is lead by example by disassociating from them and being as kind as possible towards others. And it's within the simple act of kindness that I sincerely feel better.
      Be well!
