See I was fully aware of TVR as a kid growing up in the UK. Instead this taught me a lot about US and Japanese cars - it made the Viper my brother's favourite car but my favourite was already the Impreza from Colin McRae rally which released in the same year.
You and your brother rocks😜
@@Driff97 cheers 😁👍
Gran Turismo made me like TVR
Many a gamer tend to forget that GT1 was released on a time when all other racing games had a total amount of 20 cars, in the best of cases. In comparison, GT1 had nearly 140, as Ness stated. That'a about 7 times more cars than any other of its contemporaries and if we take into account that every single car has different driving physics, then we're talking about a game that basically revolutionized the genre. I don't know about others but I'm really grateful to Sony and Polyphony Digital for giving us this beautiful game.
The Viper really shined for me in Test Drive 6, the Viper was really hard to drive as a child in Gran Turismo. But today, it's a joy to drift the Viper in the Stock championship
For me, The one thing Gran Turismo 1 has done better than any of it's sequels is the OST.. That's not to say the others have bad ones but GT1 just has the most memorable to me.. Many good memories of Racing to Lose Control by Ash and Sweet 16 by Feeder.. The Game itself is perhaps a little outdated now but I have no doubt I could still have fun with it.
I miss the used car choices. It was most fun winning with a not so fast car, and barely any credits for upgrades.
Well some music in Gran Turismo is literally Garbage! If flesh could crawl my skin would fall off from my bones and run away from here... as far from God... as Heaven is wide... as far from God... as angels could fly.
I remember playing the Arcade mode split screen with my father.
This Game Brings Back Memories
Fun Fact: Actually this isn't the game to test out, Motor Toon Grand Prix the game also develop by PD release in 1994, the game was to test out the simulation such as suspension and dynamic force. Great video by the way.
Trial Mountain and Deep Forest were my favourite tracks. I would give up a toe to shred those tracks now. I wish the devs would bring those back..
Somehow using the Forza 4 menu music, is very fitting for GT as well.
Cubante... lmao sorry that made me laugh. You typoed it, it's Cuban*a*te x)
GT1 JP's music was remixed all throughout the series. It's in GT2 3 and 4 to some extent.
GT1 PAL/USA are the only ones in the series to have their own unique menu OST too.
About the A7 license test. Actually, the reason why it's easy is because PD gave it upgraded tires instead of stock. The Japanese version has stock tires, and so much less grip and is harder to beat due to that.
Yeap. I pretty much asked for it. And wow another fun Gran Turismo fact with A7.
Where have you been man? Experiencing RUclipsr burnout or something? Barring that V-Rally video I totally didn't have to look up and edit this comment wtf are you talking about?
@@Driff97 No burnout or anything but i moved away from where i was previously last year around august and then landed a job, so my free time has been drastically reduced. I'm still tinkering here and there when i'm not sleeping fatigue away, but it's all slow progress.
The V-Rally videos were short and easy content i could produce and feel like i'm still active lol
I don't get what you mean at the end though ? You edited and... i'm talking about what ? I'm confused lol
Basically, I stopped at "something?" posted the comment, then looked at your channel, noticed your latest video, then edited my comment to add afterwards because I like to rush comments.
@@Driff97 ah heh
Ah yeah i get it now. I was reading it wrong xD
The end made no sense at first because i was reading it as an actual question lol 🤪
There is a reason why Gran Turismo 1 was the most sold ps1 game at that time. It's the best game of all time in my opinion.
I’ve never played gt1 or gt2, but seeing these facts is making me want to gt1 and gt2
They're great games
I loved both games, but from today's standpoint I'd recommend to start with GT2
GT2 has more content but GT1 was always more fun for me. It's the soundtrack and the handling that made the game for me. GT2 has way more cars but it just didn't feel as cool as 1 imo.
love GT1,2,3,4,5&6
I'm glad Ness is still making the kind of videos that brought me to the channel in the first place
Well I'm glad I make you happy
There is another license trivia/fun fact I noticed as well. Gt1 maps in Grand Valley/autumn ring and other tracks doesn't have spectators in the stands whatsoever.
Gt1 had made it's own maps customized for licenses rather than just taking part of track.
The B6 and B7 tests on High Speed Ring also used an earlier version of the track, that was set up in a more sunset-ish time of day (that version of HSR is present in the Test Drive build of the game)
Greatest franchise. I've been playing it since it came out and made many friends around the world racing with everyone.
2:05 for those who want to enjoy it again!
I mean who doesn't want a Toyota Corona in their own garage?
I don't want corona haha
@@draganivanisevic5182 unless you have a Corolla or a Camry you have it already. Or a Crown.
The Wuhan Warrior
@@1985toyotacamry my grandpa used to own a black Crown, Super Saloon... he loved it so much he saved up to get another, golden one.
This takes me back I did buy the A70 Supra in game and I love it with other Japanese cars that I never seen before. Even the TVR I'm not familiar with it. It does expand my car roster. Even some cars I mispronounced. Even the music I love in the NTSC version.
Gran Turismo 1 started it all!
I recently played GT1 and GT2 on my PS2.
Music is better in GT1, there are bands like Feeder and Cardigans. If those bands are in GT2, I hardly hear them.
Controlling the cars in GT2 is better than GT1, but is still difficult, I’m always adjusting my steering, then adjusting after I made an adjustment. That is using an old PS2 controller. Maybe car control would be better on an emulator, and a modern controlled. But this game wasn’t intended to be emulated on computers.
PD should release GT1 > GT4 on PS Store, it would satisfy my nostalgic needs, sell it as it was released originally, they shouldn’t be modified because of licensing issues, unless it is a remaster
Ps2 comtroller is trash because every single button is analog. Including the x, square, triangle, circle, and d pad. Play GT2 with a PS1 controller and youll realize its thr controller not the game.
@@7James77 old tech
@@stagger225 just got a brand new ps1 dual shock with out the pressure sensitive buttons and GT and GT 2 control noce and easy.
True on starting with Toyotas (IIRC I used Mark 2 as main starter), and then going with GTO for its absolutely Suzuki Escudo levels of domination here. But the coolest thing was that different versions of the same car, i.e. 1992 GTO Twinturbo, and 1995 GTO MR, would have different liveries when using Racing Modification on them. So I collected unique GTOs of each type, buying one and checking if it has a different look after weight reduction and R, and reloading the game if it doesn't.
What a wonderful game
I think I mainly discovered TVR in particular thanks to TopGear, but yeee, GT1 did put it on the radar for some people
Autumn Ring Mini is low-key the best track in the game. It's pretty much a go-kart track. You need a car which handles really well to race on it, but it's also a track you can enjoy a lot with a slow car.
It's also the best track for earning cash!
GT1 soundtrack still my favourite. I also loved the handling of the cars.
EDIT: Goddamn looking at you preview the car list gives me so much nostalgia, I loved all of those cars
Never played GT1 and GT2. But GT3 was the one i had the most fun with. GT4 im still completiting it (since january). GT5 is the one i spent the most time on, because of the amount of content the game had. I only play GT6 noe because im too lazy to switch discs and the more cars and tracks it has, the more customizable the game is
Kaz said that not many people within his team & in Sony believed in such an amazing success of the game back in the day, so they pretty much concentrated on Japanese cars, believing they're making a game targeting a domestic market.
I love gt1s simplicity and the endurance races on ssroute 11
Played GT2 on PS1 still remember the music of the menu
Route 11 Was the best. those chicanes!
..i just bought a ps1 with gt 1/2 ..boy did i miss out !! was more into street fighter
Love how he plays Forza Motorsport 4 music in the background
BTW, The background music comes from Forza 4.
Damn, I wish we had the racing music from the Japanese version. That said, GT1 did introduce me to the bands Garbage and Feeder, so I can’t really complain.
Awesome video bro!
Thanks!
Love this video
Now Playing it in Emulator, I must admit it seriously easily ate hours of my time, just like GT4. The number of things to do is decent to me. Comparing it to PSP Gran turismo, this just far excels it. GT2 also easily ate hours of gametime.
"Cue-bah-nate"
i was surprised by the lack of your movie-trailer voice, lol!!
hah
Surprised me too. And even more shocking, we got a new member as a result!
@@HSGAutomotive I'm still missing the "Hi, gaming guys" intro 😢
@@krazycharlie Not really, considering it’s not even me speaking lol
You really deserve more views
We can thank RUclips's bullshit system for that
Mhmm
By far, MITSUBISHI THEME!!!
the game looks so real said everyone in the 90s
Especially the replays
It is! Or, it was!
It's the same effect as the movie Independence Day. I remember watching that and every single piece of CGI was realistic. Nowadays not so much! 🤔😔
> Video is about Gran Turismo
> Video has Forza Motorsport OST as background music
🤔
Because that just how we do
and now I know why its called "Mr. 4WD"
I am here waiting for more content on your other channel 😳
Ooooh...yeah sorry about that. I just have way more things to do other than video production. 😂
I was just wondering which other channel they were referring to...xD
TVR was famous, i remeber as a little kid, in middle 90s knowing about it, im italian maybe you are american, here Gran Turismo he make us know alot of japanese cars, like Supra, Skyline, Silvia etc who never make it out of japan
Best soundtrack ever
If you love GT1, you would love my AI project focused on GT1 ;)
Updated Tune On 2016 Koenigsegg Regera PLEASE! 🙏🙏❤️
I still think the fastest car was the fully tuned ‘92 Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo... that car couldn’t lose!
Speed-wise the '95 Supra was the fastest. But the R33 Skyline had the fastest acceleration. The GTO (3000GT), and especially the '95 MR was a good middleground.
The best overall race car had to be the Viper GTS-R. That thing was both fast and had good handling. It was also one of the few cars that came equipped with a 7-speed transmission, so you could really fine-tune it.
The best player-built race car on the other hand had to be the RX-7 A-Spec. Decently fast, with great handling, due to its light weight. That said, the pre-built dealership model (RX-7 LM Edition) was also a great race car.
Did not know gran turismo 1 have the corona…
Only 133 views after 30 minutes?
Man what happened to all of those active viewers :(
RUclips's bullshit channel throttling happened. 75,000 people and 10% get shown my new videos, then a lower number of those choose to actually watch it.
original GT, japanese version that's what's up
I don't understand why the cars in Arcade Mode move much faster than in the same cars in Simulation Mode even if both modes have both stock cars.
Isn't this the music from Forza Motorsport 4?
I believe it's pronounced Cubante. Hope this helps.
I love this game. I don't usually like racing games, but this one I really enjoyed. (Except for the licensing, f*ck that)
It's pronounced Cuba-Nate. Cuba (like the country) and Nate (like Illuminate).
Hey man what happened to your beautiful voice
Nothing, lol
No NSX appreciation? Disappointing.
Good video though.
Bro the camera... 🤢 dont tell me you actually like the stiff fishtail
Gt sports is bad
