Mission 34 has to be the most brutal. Every time you restart, you have enough time to graduate school, start a business, and retire before you get to race again. He also shows off the easier PAL version where you could be about 4 seconds slower.
My father watch the time so he watch TV that 2 minutes. Some times it was off...so, he restart and go again waiting two minutes. The day he complete it was like magic...and after like 10-20 minutes of watching the replay...he put it back because he want it to win again jajajaja
The PAL version of the game has 8 seconds fewer of wait time. I didn't realize until he was passing the 5th place car way earlier than expected. In the non PAL version one had to be in 5th coming out of Karussell at the absolute latest
To be fair, they're not difficult if you take your time and just go for bronze, which just requires you to simply finish. Saying that, "taking your time" is the exact opposite of what you need to do to get gold, which can get pretty dang frustrating. And from what I remember playing as a kid, I don't think you even need to complete the coffee breaks to get your license?
Man I swore off Gran Turismo after I got gold on that with a controller back then too. I got burned out so much. That was NOT meant to be done by a controller but I guess we did it. I hope they never put it it GT7

I was on my way of getting gold in the nurburgring test, but got excited and touched the gravel and lost control on THE MAIN STRAIGTH AFTER LAST CORNER. Luckly got my G27 days after, which made things A LOT more easy
The red bull challenge took me 2 weeks of a couple of hours sessions every day, it required almost perfection for 2 solid minutes at one of the most technical tracks in the world. the thing I remember the most from it is you had to push a lot harder than you’d ever expect to just get within a few tenths of the gold time, getting the bronze at first was difficult cause you only use 70% of the car, especially with the controller. I repeatedly got within 2 tenths for a few days and then it finally happened, got 2.09.9xx and I screamed at the top of my lungs. Greatest feeling ever and still have the replay saved to my ps3.
Crazy, I don't think I have that patience (as a patient person). I need to gold the 3 tracks and relearn everything again but I will do it eventually I hope. Gotta use a wounded controller too lol, but at some point I'm gonna do it and never again after. So close to 100%.. Weirdly though I found bronze easy to do, I guess they did change the times on a later update but still. I could complete laps kinda easily
and then, aryton senna came from the heavens, emanating an absolutely angelic aura, it was a miraculous moment as he moved next to your child self, knowing your dispair as you couldn't get those precious seconds in gran turismo's tribute to the late driver, he kneels next to your ear, just to utter these holy words: "cry about it lmao"
I also felt that pain. The old brands hatch layout has 4 long medium-high speed corners and its soo hard to turn correctly using a controller, and to make things even worse you're driving a fast open wheeler car with mediocre downforce
The redbull challenges were the hardest challenge I've ever had in a video game. I spent a ridiculous amount of time on them. The number of crashes was insane. Well done dude
This is divided because of one good factor: People who drive with a wheel will have a lot better time driving the Red Bull X2010 than pretty much any other car. For controller users, especially BEFORE the sensivity patch, the Red Bull X2010 in Suzuka is likely the hardest challenge... IN GAMING HISTORY. It was possible to get gold, but oh boy you wasted the amount of 10.000 retries doing the same challenge over and over and over and... over again... To finally get the consistency to nail 2 LAPS of one of the most technical circuits in F1 and while driving a car that was 20 whole seconds faster than any F1 car made in history. I remember for the first 2 or 3 hours on the Nurburgring alone I was struggling to even get silver times... The patch made a whole difference, but it was still ridiculously difficult to get gold in Nurburgring and especially Suzuka... Which btw Nurburgring GP Red Bull X challenge should be in this top 10. And the Murcielago challenge in GT5 WHICH ALSO WAS PATCHED because you couldn't even see the road when night time came by. Yeah you literally had to follow the map radar to know where to brake and turn in this challenge.
The last thing.. I remember me and a friend going on the Nordschleife in GT5 with Go Karts with day/night circle on it was hilarious and stupid at the same time.. yeah we also had to make the map as huge as possible and just followed the map. 😂

I remember feeling like I was gonna rip my hair out as a kid trying to do the S license in GT2 with the viper on laguna seca. I can't remember what specific one it was since it's been over 20 years, but I do clearly remember constantly spinning out since that car was so touchy on throttle. I was stuck on it all night, but somehow woke up the next morning and beat it first try. I learned the value of sleeping on something that day.
S-7, I believe. I remember having to skip that one for a while and finished it last. The last hurdle from finishing Arcade Mode. That was going to be one of the two I mentioned. The other was IA-15 on GT4. Not crashing for ten minutes was unlike anything I'd previously attempted. My second complete lap was about a 9:57, good enough for bronze, and good enough for me.
For me, S-10 on GT7 was the hardest for me as a wheel user. Most of these challenges I would find hard with a controller, but are pretty simple with a wheel.

Kudos to the players who completed the GT4 Mission 34 on NTSC version (where you wait for 123 seconds instead of 115 seconds) without being dirty. I completed it back then with quite few dirty moves and it was the only challenge to go to get 100% game completion.
Gt3 is the only game i conpleted 100% and #4 arcade trail 10 qas the last mission for me to complete . 16 year old me took me 3 days to finally get gold . Good times but now with work and being a dad i could never do this again . Fun times thanks for the good memory

I just started playing gt4 Gran Turismo mode because I only played the arcade mode in my childhood and now seeing this just showed me that I'm in for a roller coaster of pain...
Check a video to how to do the mission with Skyline at test course so you'll not have anger issues like me in understanding how to trade slipstream with AI cars.
Yeah that was the hardest test in GT6 for me. To be honest I never found GT6 tests difficult, so it definitely caught me by surprise at how many tries it took me the first time I did it
My biggest nightmare was obviously the mission 34 on gt4 but it was also the license test that involved an r32 and some very tecnical corner on gt4 (I don't remember which number it was but it was really tough imo)
Nothing will ever be as hard as the two laps at Suzuka under 2:08:00 of the X RedBull Challenge in GT5 That stuff was and is insane to this day, specially on controller. Way harder than the famous Mission 34.
The thing with mission 34 is that it is harder on the NTSC version. I spent like 2 weeks trying before I finally got it, and I overtook the 200SL barely before the finish line while my time was way better than what I was seing on RUclips. Also, Eiger Norwand with the Alfa is way harder than it should lol
What about the Jeff Gordon's NASCAR School at Daytona - Last 2 laps mission in Gran Turismo 5? I don't know, but for some reason I can't overtake anyone ahead of me (except for the first car), despite how much I'm drafting. And the corners just slow me down even more, since having a smooth driving line at Daytona is nearly impossible to do with a DS3. Because holding the left stick all the way to left is too much oversteering, and finding that sweet spot between oversteer and understeer is nearly impossible. Which forces you to slightly tap the left stick over and over again, so that your car isn't oversteering and/or understeering. But using the tap method results in a janky driving line, which slows you down, and isn't consistent 100% of the time. Basically any NASCAR event at Daytona is super difficult, but I found the last 2 laps mission to be the hardest of the bunch. Even if the 10 lap NASCAR race at Daytona is super hard in its own right.
I did it with a setup I borrowed from someone on GTPlanet or something. Basically he cranked up the diff accel sensitivity to 45 which makes the car not want to turn at all lol. But it keeps up the acelleration high when coming off the turns so you can keep up with the AI and pass them. Got it within a few tries after changing the setup. You just gotta get used to it.
There was one license A test in GT1, on Trial Mountain aboard a Skyline R33, that I couldn't clear in an entire month and even led me to just drop the game. I later returned after getting GT2 and getting license IC, and lo and behold, after applying my GT2 theory that test became easy. So it was more of a matter of GT1 failing at properly explaining that stupid test.
11:28 I have yet to beat that challenge. I've come close but no luck at the end. Damn it all! You're gonna making me want to pull out my old system and play that challenge all over again. 😤
Totally agree on the number 1 spot. Out of all the challenges in all the GT games, that is the one that brings back awful memories. I did end up getting it after a few weeks of trying, probably around 70 attempts.
Red Bull 2010 on a gamepad is not only one of the most difficult challenges in Gran Turismo, it is one of the most difficult things in the history of video games. The most difficult, if you don't count some Shmaps like Gradius 3.
IA 15 It made me suffer when I was a kid, for a long time I didn't even dare to have that mercedes EVO II in later Gran Turismos, and after a few years I came to love this car.
I had a lot of headaches in the game, like the final Gran Turismo 6 License test, with the Bugatti Veyron at the Ascari Circuit, and Ayrton Senna Tribute at Brands Hatch, but considering the equipment that I had at the time of the challenge, for sure, was the the Gran Turismo 4's Mission 34, with no doubt! I had only the DualShock 2, it took me several weeks to complete, had a lot of moments of sadness, frustration, anger, but when I completed it, it was like if I had won the biggest lottery prize in the world.
GT1 Licenses are quite hard. Maybe it´s because of the digital steering inputs. I personal ranked 3 Gt1 License tests into Top 10 hardest licenses ever. ruclips.net/video/EIX61Bn00uM/видео.html
I found GT1 tests pretty tough personally, but luckily I didn't spend too long on them. And there aren't many to do either. Wouldn't say hardest but not the easiest. GT6 licenses are the easiest in my opinion, I don't think there's that many either
A childhood ptsd trigger warning would've been nice lmao I hated and remembered every single one of these. Especially the rediculously stupid "having to sit and wait for 2 whole minutes for the other cars to start the Gring in the SLR". You killed every challenge here though. GG
I don't know, one or two of these look like a piece of cake to me compared to one that I remember - Bugatti Veyron at Ascari (GT6); it felt like driving a boat with wheels in a go-kart track, made me seasick...
GT4 Driving Mission on Test Course was the hardest of all time. Although I had every other Mission or licence completely golden, it took me years to get the last one and finally 100% in GT4
I consider none of the first 8 challenges as too taxing. Once you got the hang of it, it was quite easy to beat. But the last two challenges: Oh boy, that's where I definitely had to put the most time into it. I probably needed around 8 hours to gold the X2010 Suzuka Trial. Nürburgring was hard as well, but Suzuka was even more frustrating. And the Lewis Hamilton Challenge in Willow Springs is also very hard to master, I had to do it with the bonnet cam and activated ABS. I was able to beat the rest in cockpit view and without ABS. I would also add in GT7 S10 into it (of course the video came out before most people had GT7 or were able to go to this challenge). Not because it's particularly hard to beat the time, but because you need to know the dry line inside out to be fast.
Man, the 98T was an *evil* car in GT6. I can see why the complex string lap is here, but it's more about patience and learning the track than about difficulty.
Ah i remember the good old days of GT5 Sebastian vettels x2010 challenges if you earnt all 3 golds, silvers or bronze the challenge itself was a nightmare and a half but picking a car for you when everyone wanted the carbon fibre edition rather than the standard or sebs livery version. Not to mention that no matter how much i wanted to yeet the controller soo far in the air everytike i was a millisecond off on suzuka and also nurb GP 😂 when litterally i traded someone a suzuki pikes peak escudo for one of his x2010s lol 😅 easiest that anyone couldve ever done to save their own anger and frustrations of how small the tracks were trying to not hit the apex corners too early or too late 🎉
I get anxious every time I see mission 34 and the x2010 in Suzuka, the only thing I wanted was that f***ing Red Bull car. Gran Turismo 5 times were so good…
I actually had it harder with the Last GT7 mission than a couple of These... Worth knowing that I played it completely without any support of sorts, and actually ended up turning TC on to 1 only to make a time of 2.23 straight out, idk where that 1 lap came from... The rest, of license in GT7 was sadly not that challenging 🥺😂
As someone who decided to gold all of GT2 once: A license is Gehenna, IC is Avīci. I weirdly found IB to be the easiest one overall though. Not sure why.
Mission 34 wasnt done full justice here. In the NTSC versions of the game, the wait timer was 8 seconds longer, which would've made your run just barely pass, and also made each countdown that much more painful to endure
@@zocker1990 Yeah haha idk why they went easy on us EU folk. The game was released in EU a few weeks after the other regions, they probably heard complaints about the mission from Asia/US players and made it a bit easier
The Opera Paris challenge in GT4 took me about 5 days of playing just to complete. Personally the longest I’ve ever had to commit to a challenge in GT and I absolutely lost it
The hardest challenge of Gran Turismo Series was of the Dodge/SRT Tomahawk X Vision Gran Turismo on Nürburgring Nordschleife on Gran Turismo 6, as the vehicule's insane performance force you to either develop lightning reflexes or time your movements as you fail the challenge as soon as one tyre goes off-track, not only that but you had to do the lap under five minutes without mistakes to get bronce and even less to get gold and reconfigure your horn button as the car's Variable-Fin Quad-Stage Pneumatic Power Units and Active Aerodynamic Systems were activated by that function as there was no boost nor nitro function in the game before that car, and had to use it only on the straights of the track for short times unless you want to slam into the guardrails.
Its gotta be said. If they insist on drip feeding us cars on gt7 rather than giving us some absolutely insane cool custom tracks from og games at the very least give us a track creator like gt6
The GT5 Red Bull challenge is up there - brutal using a controller , the car was too fast you had to re-adjust your mind to the grip levels and speed lol
Funny story for the IA 15 you need to do a guided lap in the 190E at nords unfortunely 10 years old me did not knew what a nordschlife was so i proceded to get stuck for aprox. half a month on that license, every day after school go back home and try to not run into the pace car or lose traction or go wide on sector 3, but even if that license cost me 1 joystick and going behind the GTR safetycar was the biggest pain in the ass i ever had in a racing game after completing the license i was able to do the green hell with my eyes close in any sim/game after and made that mission 36 felt easier so thank you polyphony !!!!! 😂
If you know the route, the Honda Beat mission isnt that hard to gold. All the others were pretty tough and I hope that GT7 can add some missions to this list
Arcade Time Trial 10 in GT3 is the only one of these I've actually accomplished. The toughest part of the challenge is actually learning Complex String and the Ruf RGT (the only RR car in the game) well enough to complete it without going off course.
that S - 8 license in gt3 was the only time i felt i had to drive with manual transmission as the car would choose the incorrect gear for the turns and lose too much speed.
no way the complex string time trial belongs that high. its challenging sure but i golded it without too much trouble and meanwhile i cant even get gold on most license tests, even the easy ones
the miracle lap in GT4 while driving an slr i think around the nurburgring was pretty intense if you ask me lol, in gt7 i think the one i had the most trouble was the super license formula 1 around laguna seca.

My license nightmare was GT6 S-5, te Bugatti in Ascari circuit, that Bugatti is horrible to turn, I got stucked on that license for like 1 or 2 years
The thing with mission 34 is that it is harder on the NTSC version. I spent like 2 weeks trying before I finally got it, and I overtook the 200SL barely before the finish line while my time was way better than what I was seing on RUclips.
Also, Eiger Norwand with the Alfa is way harder than it should lol
The Vettel redbull events were just insane. Some others have been brutal but those..... and had to do 2 laps. Ugh!
Hated the daytona races or challenges! So hard
Ever driving mission (I-A) on GT4 was extremely difficult I'm kinda glad you put some on this list
So? Did you end up doing it?
Mission 34. 4 hours straight on an Easter sunday. I will always remember that race
The last S license test in GT6. Holy fuuuuuck
I remember the Vettel red bull challenge getting all of them on gold. I was so proud of myself that day
Também consegui. O segredo era encontrar as configurações de condução perfeitas. Mas nem foi fácil
I'm just saying GT2, 5, and 6 made me really good at racing games.
IA 15 It made me suffer when I was a kid, for a long time I didn't even dare to have that mercedes EVO II in later Gran Turismos, and after a few years I came to love this car.
That Red Bull challenge was legitimately unbeatable on a controller
One of the hardest was a mission on gt4 where u had to follow a Nissan GT-R with an old Alfa Romeo Giulia in a city circuit; it was a nightmare.
Getting ful gold on all licenses was my claim to fame in the local game shop on gt1, 2 and 3! lol good times.
Glad I Archived Gold at Hamilton's Time Trail at Monza 🔥
I had a lot of headaches in the game, like the final Gran Turismo 6 License test, with the Bugatti Veyron at the Ascari Circuit, and Ayrton Senna Tribute at Brands Hatch, but considering the equipment that I had at the time of the challenge, for sure, was the the Gran Turismo 4's Mission 34, with no doubt! I had only the DualShock 2, it took me several weeks to complete, had a lot of moments of sadness, frustration, anger, but when I completed it, it was like if I had won the biggest lottery prize in the world.
The first slalom in the I-B licence test in gran turismo 2 was hell on earth to me
Is it me or is it funny how the GT1 licensees are so universally easy compared to the rest of the series? lol
It's probably just you.
A childhood ptsd trigger warning would've been nice lmao I hated and remembered every single one of these. Especially the rediculously stupid "having to sit and wait for 2 whole minutes for the other cars to start the Gring in the SLR". You killed every challenge here though. GG
I practiced so much Mission 34, that now it became easy.
GT7 S-10 is the hardest in the game. Nothing else even comes close (in GT7)
That Ayrton Senna Thing make me broke my controller I never played gt6 since 💀
I don't know, one or two of these look like a piece of cake to me compared to one that I remember - Bugatti Veyron at Ascari (GT6); it felt like driving a boat with wheels in a go-kart track, made me seasick...
For me, it was coffee break for IA license in Gran Turismo 4, it was hard to gold it. (especially on USA version of Gran Turismo 4).
Its pretty easy once you find the right line in between the cones. Also don't forget to launch at about 6k rpm, saves a few tenths.
GT4 Driving Mission on Test Course was the hardest of all time. Although I had every other Mission or licence completely golden, it took me years to get the last one and finally 100% in GT4
That was literally flawless driving on Mission 34, and to top that, it seems to have been your first try, too! 🤯👏
Honourable mention: GT7 A-9.
OUCH... you had to start with the only thing i couldn't do in GT5.
GT 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, passed every license in gold with controller. 🙋♂️
I get anxious every time I see mission 34 and the x2010 in Suzuka, the only thing I wanted was that f***ing Red Bull car. Gran Turismo 5 times were so good…
The endurance events. Before you could save halfway.
You make the nurburgring challenge look easy... I could just feel the anxiety from 15 years ago... 😂
As someone who decided to gold all of GT2 once:
A license is Gehenna, IC is Avīci. I weirdly found IB to be the easiest one overall though. Not sure why.
Mission 34 wasnt done full justice here. In the NTSC versions of the game, the wait timer was 8 seconds longer, which would've made your run just barely pass, and also made each countdown that much more painful to endure
Thanks didn’t know there was a difference in this mission between PAL and NTSC! 👍
100% agree on this. I don't know why this one is not in that list. I managed to place #8, but was only able to complete 3-4 full laps lol
18:16 first place before the straight? That’s insane
Yesterday i played the IC-4 in GT2 it was the hell... Took me one and a half hour to gold... The rest of the IC license was done in about 20 minutes 😂
SLR on Nordschleife! 1 Night, 2 Guy's, 3 boxes Marlboro and a lot of energy drinks.... 🤩
For #9 I had to turn off TCS completely to get out from corners faster lmao
I did the Ayrton Senna Tribute with a dual shock. That took some time..
If you know the route, the Honda Beat mission isnt that hard to gold. All the others were pretty tough and I hope that GT7 can add some missions to this list
yeah if you know it. the game came out before youtube tho, so figuring it out by your own was very annoying
@@keisuketakahasi4584 GT7 S1 license is quite hard
@@granturismoracingkart125sh3 huh? i was talking about gt 4 last coffee break. what does that have to do with gt7 s1?
@@keisuketakahasi4584 I expect he meant to reply to the OP
Arcade Time Trial 10 in GT3 is the only one of these I've actually accomplished. The toughest part of the challenge is actually learning Complex String and the Ruf RGT (the only RR car in the game) well enough to complete it without going off course.
I dug GT3 out not too long ago and gave the Time Trials their real first try. I was frankly happy on Complex String to get a first-try "didn't crash".
Wow, where did that come from? Mega lap.
that S - 8 license in gt3 was the only time i felt i had to drive with manual transmission as the car would choose the incorrect gear for the turns and lose too much speed.
all of the Super License Tests in GT4.
Number 1 should be buying cars without paying real money in GT7
Wow, where did that come from ?
M E G A L A P
Redbull at sukuza looks so ridiculous it looks sped up
Forgot the damn GT40 at Rome in GT2 >:v
no way the complex string time trial belongs that high. its challenging sure but i golded it without too much trouble and meanwhile i cant even get gold on most license tests, even the easy ones
I never even seriously attempted mission 34. I was just happy to pass the hot lap in the Mercedes EVO
Never understood how anyone could drive the x2010/2011
the miracle lap in GT4 while driving an slr i think around the nurburgring was pretty intense if you ask me lol, in gt7 i think the one i had the most trouble was the super license formula 1 around laguna seca.
Try S-10 in GT7 using zero assists and a wheel with an H-pattern shifter and a clutch. It took me about 60 tries to gold.
Platnum on gt5 using a ds3 controller toke about 3 months to be able to beat the vettel challenges by far the hardest challeneges i had in a game
Struggling so far in GT7 with the Laguna Seca full lap Circuit Experience, 1.28.6 is whats needed and only gotten a 28.9 as my best,
Using the nitrous ?
@@dominicfranklin6215 not the license test, the circuit experience in the viper Gr.4
6:28 I always thought that the designer who designed this track was drunk.
Couldn't beat the suzuka and nurburgring vettel challenges and only bronze at Monza. Only thing I couldn't get gold in.
Omg I totally forgot about that atrocious track. The string complex
Jeff Gordons NASCAR school of Nightmare (GT5)
Damn I forgot about the Frankenstein complex. Gross. My nightmare was definitely the GT-One at Monaco
