Agreed! Steve's tech analysis in approaching this challenge: Breaking zones, entry and exits and power strat were super helpful. It really helped me shave over a second on my initial laps. I do find the GTs have great mid and high range power. Not as delicate in cornering though.
5:47 I didn't actually save a single drop of fuel. I went full beans the whole race. Kie and I worked together after you pitted which is why we gained so much.
I just love Super GT. Even if I never play racing simulators. But the way he makes his vids is perfect. First, a random race to get started and fell how its like. Then qualifying, but also explaining what he is doing/how he driving, especially seeing the breaking refrences is always interesting for me. And then he goes tryhard mode for a real race. Hats off
"I've seen many races here change right on the finish line ..." I remember the epic race you had with Kie here a couple years ago where you pulled out the win literally in the last couple hundred meters.

Hello Steve, long term viewer here. May I ask something? You are running one of the few channels without sponsorships. It's so refreshing to watch your videos without you having to advertise some mobile game, car thing or food service. Other than the odd Fanatec giveaway I don't remember being pushed any products by you. How come? Surely you are getting lots of tempting offers to the contrary. I definitely appreciate it :)
I really love these videos. They display your dedication, patience, good sportsmanship, and just the fact even the best of us are still human and racing in a game even at the levels you do still have mistakes often. And there’s no need to feel bad as those of us that bomb multiple laps even when we’re trying our best. Because you’re here doing the same thing while getting better. But such a fun experience in the end 😊
You need to delay your shifts more so when you downshift you dont rev the car so high. Also avoiding first gear and taking corners ina gear higher helps. Getting a bump draft also destroys fuel because he’s pushing you into very high rpms. Its actually an anti strategy for you in this case. Hope it helps.
I've done a race twice as long on this car/track combo for a racing league. I actually did quite well, and I really love this track because of it. Gonna try the race myself soon and see if I've still got some pace. Too bad I'm currently learning VR and am very slow
Many thanks for your response. Interested specifically on this circuit with the Ford GT. Already getting pretty good lap times (in the 44’s) just trying to get in the 43’s!
I don't play or even really like Gran Tourismo, but I really enjoy your videos. The commentary is really nice, and you know so much about the game, it's like watching a professional race driver analyzing their work.
19:16 Ironically, I've fallen asleep while watching Super GT videos. I just so happen to get tired while watching stuff I like, for some strange reason.
I've only dabbled a little bit in endurance racing, but the best fuel saving tip I was ever given was to lift a little bit just before braking (increase lift duration for more saving). It's the best place to coast, as you're at high speed, and it won't ruin the rest of any other straight. It also is at the point where the car uses the most amount of fuel. It also helps with overheating breaks I do wonder about the effectiveness of the fuel map stuff... why not just lift a fraction instead? Then again I don't play GT, so I don't know much about fuel maps
🎉 Liking your gran turismo play offs pretty much. You do such excellent job, with playing on strategic and explaining the folds. Love it man. Hope to see you more in the present future. Greets man ✌🏾👍🏽
I won this race last night from pole. But I used the Ford GT Spec II TEST car. I did no fuel conservation whatsoever. Full power all 10 laps, maybe I short shifted a couple of times. Maybe. Each of the other Ford GT's, I HAD to conserve fuel, the test car is the car for this one. Love the instructional vids!
More fuel saving next week too - Grand Valley, 1x Tyres (RH/RM, both required), 7x fuel! Assuming Gr4 based on the current trend of PD rotating race B and C between Gr3 and Gr4. Most likely going to be Ferrari and McLaren dominated.
You are better off taking more fuel in the pits as you suggest. You lose more time saving fuel on the long straights than you gain back with a shorter pit stop.
It's about strategy of where you are and where you want to be and not want to be. As you see in the final race he managed to have more fuel left compared to other players who had been bump drafting eachother, so he must've done "something" right. It's about planning where you end up when you come out of the pits, and hopefully not have anyone close enough to catch a slipstream from you. You also got to understand that 1 second is a lot when you drive with good players, and the first couple races failed for him only because of planning really. It's finer nuances, and trying to save fuel where you do not need full power, and the one who wins is hopefully the one who have managed his planning the best, as you see he did end up doing in the end.
Nice driving. I wish I didn’t stop playing GT. Used to do endurance race league. Raced with one of the GT academy guys. I miss it I wasn’t too bad. I’ll keep up!
Hear me out, Ford GT for the time trial C7.R for the race. Started 7th finished 3rd but when I pit I only needed 2% fuel with zero fuel map changes. Let the GT's draft be your fuel saving
Used the C7 as well, love this car. Problem, I'm loosing time in the infield since I have problems getting the power down when accelerating out of corners. Shortshifting helps, but the two meta cars always catch up then...
@TCR_710-Cap it's the last day for the race but you smoothen out the infield/bus stop chicane the C7 is faster I guarantee it. Definitely gotta be there for draft but vette is most underrated car in the game IMO
@@Frz900 My saying, HA! I had the idea to do every Gr.4/Gr.3 race in the Vette, hoping that I'll become better and better, getting used to it, my own meta. Did quite well with this approach in the Gr.4 Vette, and at least I can have exciting races with it.

It's especially going to be hard for some people if you aren't going to eat throughout the entirety of the race. No restroom, no nothing. Jut a few things to keep you alive as your body shakes from the constant vibrations of the steering wheel. (btw in gr.1's ofc)

But You Steve, held way more speed on entry, carried that speed & throw the car out! … & the car seemed to appreciate it! Is smooth, not necessarily meaning faster in this game then?
Nice one! What I would like to know, and there seem to be a few misconceptions about the slipstream range. Other YT'er on this very track this week talk about 1.200, another about 0.750, another about 1.500 and then another about 1.750. Where's the truth? Does it depend on the track (low, medium, high speed?). I could understand this, but on the same track so many opinions about the slipstream range? Can someone please enlighten me/us?
I just wanted to say I managed to do a barrel roll (yeah you read that right) at the sea side Sardegna track, after the two first sharp corners you got a big curb and if you aim right, you manage to flip your car.
Changing to a leaner fuel mix during braking shouldn’t realistically save fuel. During engine braking the injectors don’t squirt fuel into the cylinders. Unless race cars do it to cool the cylinders or something, which I doubt they do. Downshifts do use a little bit to bump up the revs but I don’t think that is affected by fuel mix settings. Talking realistically here, the game might function differently ofc.
