Always love these. When it's just races it can come across as "sim racing is easy" but these time trials really show the time, effort, and skill needed to be good.
I'm loving the uploads. I don't know what it is but your race craft and just the format of your videos makes your videos the choice for me to watch while I'm having a meal in front of my PC.

yep, I think I've done maybe 100 laps and I've sweated it down to 1m 57.999s - SuperGT just effortlessly destroys that AS A WARM UP!!! lol - different planet.
Hahahaha for sure. I spent over 4 hours in various sessions just to get to 1:55.327. I guess I should be happy since I have only been playing GT7 for a week and I use a controller?!
Trial Mountain really is one of those "don't think about it too much" type of tracks. Don't know you history with GT but if i had to put money on it Lap 1 was pure muscle memory and a bit of on the fly correcting to the changes
I’d say GT and Sega Rally are largely responsible for making this car so iconic. This is definitely one of the first cars I think of when I hear “Gran Turismo Car.”
the 4th gear out of the corner is helping with traction because the power delivery is weaker until the engine gets into his powerband that way you can accelerate earlier.
What you said about taking a break and coming back later is so true, feels like driving numb and robotic. Not paying attention to the little things that make the time.
This was a super difficult time trial for me. I'm not good at Trial Mountain, and the Supra's handling does not compliment my driving style very well. Glad I could pick up some top tips from the GOAT
I don't play much anymore but I always enjoy watching your videos, especially these time trial ones. GT7 isn't the greatest but I have to say it has some of the best online racing and modes of any console racer

Thanks for posting! I have been hoping you would post these time trials so I could see what I’m doing wrong lol. Good gracious. I spent 4 hours in various 1-2 hour sessions trying to get gold, and your first lap beat my absolute best by 2 seconds! I can see so much of a difference in having a steering wheel & pedals (your video) vs a controller (like I use). Granted I know you are way better and more experienced than I am (we got PS5 for Christmas and GT7 for my sons birthday last weekend), but many of the turns you make just seem so much smoother and easier to make the right angle of braking/attack out of the corner with a wheel. Also watching your brake pedal and gas pedal sensor, definitely see a huge difference vs controller. Controller braking is very much all or nothing with little room for much variance in the middle! Btw, Loving the content! I came across a video from 7 months ago, where you said people watch you to fall asleep!!! Absolutely agree with you on getting fixated on the delta at the bottom of the screen. I feel like I'm legit faster in VR with the HUD turned off (so I can still see gears and rpm in cockpit view and maintain good vision)
It's actually comforting that you made the same mistakes as I did. Only you are more than 2 seconds faster than me ;) just managed to get to 53.3sth, struggled a lot with it. But should be enough for gold... awesome video and nice driving
I absolutely loved this. 53.1 was my best so I'm not looking forward to you showing me up but I was back on this again today. So much fun chucking this car around here.

I don’t now what your session timing was like that first day at this trial, but a practice structure when I was a music major that REALLY was a gamechanger for me was this: Practice for ~40 minutes, and break for 10-20 minutes, closer to 20 full minutes. Repeat that and I could practice all day with consistent momentum, progression, and and not overthinking my play. I bet a similar setup would work out for time trialing.
It really do be those laps that just feel okay, not good nor bad, that turn out to be the smooth and quick ones. After coming off the track to see my times the ones I went full send into are the quickest but the flowy sessions are barely 10% slower

Not sure if you know this or not, but the Anti Social Social Club Supra is actually one of the 5Zigen GT500 Supras. An old editor for Import Tuner bought the car (minus the drivetrain) from someone that purchased it through someone at Tanabe USA almost 20 years ago. It sat at the Import Tuner garage for years and collected dust while the owner sourced parts to try and replicate the drivetrain. But life happened and some time later, it ended up in the hands of the guy who owns ASSC. They re-did the livery for the GT7 25th anniversary capsule collections. Can't remember if he ever got it running under its own power, but the base car they used was a real deal race car back in the day.
I want a Daily race with the castrol Supra vs the Nissan Gtr GT500. And at the return of a classic track. Maybe Midfield Raceway? Apricot Hill? 🤔😄. A recurring nostalgia car class that only takes place at the classic tracks perhaps? 🤔

Gentlemen, a short view back to the past. Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us ‘take a monkey, place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car.’ Thirty years later, Sebastian told us ‘I had to start my car like a computer, it’s very complicated.’ And Nico Rosberg said that during the race - I don’t remember what race - he pressed the wrong button on the wheel. Question for you both: is Formula One driving today too complicated with twenty and more buttons on the wheel, are you too much under effort, under pressure? What are your wishes for the future concerning the technical programme during the race? Less buttons, more? Or less and more communication with your engineers?
would like mechanics would adjust the car not the driver because before driver just said to mechanic "it's understeery" and they fixed that, drivers didn't have to think about that
This "mood" is so ralatable, sometimes i had a break for a few days and when i started doing something again (like a time trial) i nailed it on the second lap sooo much better i did not understand how xD But a good break can help :)
8:20 this corner always makes me paranoid and think that I'm going to lose traction going over that dirt. They should either remove that dirt entirely, or make it so you lose grip on it, as it is now, it's very confusing.
Without being critical, if you’re manually shifting, I’d personally shift up slightly earlier than letting the engine bounce on the redline too long. You could be gaining a few extra mph shifting ever so slightly earlier than taking the engine to the very end of the limiter. The engine works harder to gain the very last few mph out of the gear ratio than it would shifting earlier to gain speed out of the next gear ratio. I’m saying it respectfully, your driving is very good 👌🏻. When you’re trying to gain 1/10th or 1/1000 of seconds, those earlier shifts might help you achieve that. I see the frustration for trying to get this great lap. I recognise it to myself. I want to ride lap after lap but sometimes it's a better choice to take some rest and try again later. Concratulations Steve!
You really drive me on to improve my driving and to drive faster lap times. I'm still WAY slower than you (playing with a controller, no space for a wheel....), but my own driving is improving through your explanations of how to attack these tracks, thank you!
Epic watch, my Thrustmaster recently broke so im on the controller for a while until my new Fanatec set up arrives. Once its here im gonna get back on the grind for fast laps 🙂
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who was spinning at the start of the lap, I need a lot more practice as I'm only in the 55's. I think I'm pretty terrible at the last chicane in particular and the left hander in to the tunnel
ah yes the supra that got rid of its 2jz in favour of a four cylinder what a legendary machine i loved it in GT5 but always spun it when the tyres got the smallest bit of wear
I see that 83 miles, it’s is true next day come back your muscle memory is still there and you just find it(time) fun watching you struggle like like rest of us.
I think less aero on the rear and a softer suspension might actually help pivot the car better through a lot of those corners, then get comfortable slipping the rears a bit more, my theory is the guys who like oversteer will be faster on tracks like this because to get more time out those long corners you need to let the rear pivot more and then slip out of corners, super hard to do in gt7 tho
Watching your struggle the first day I was thinking you needed to stop and come back later and as you mentioned that was what you did. It helps to get out that repetitive mindset you described. I really enjoy your videos on GT7, I am not way as good as you but enjoy your uploads.
but what happened to keeping the 4th on the last sequence? did you try it out in the end and it did not work for you? or have you just forgotten about it in the hear of the moment?
There is so much time to be gained and lost in those first 3 corners. Honestly glad that section is so early in the lap so I could retry without wasting so much time😂
I've been struggling with this one all week. Was using it for practice and ended up just getting discouraged because I kept invalidating the lap by going slightly too inside at the tunnel. Plus I'm still a full second off the gold time, and this is a track I'm usually very confident with...
@@BleedingOath yes that's precisely the issue. Idk what you were trying here, was it to make me upset? Give me a degrading comment? I already know I'm not good enough, no need to remind me
I grinded this for HOURS and got a 1:51.8. It's really hard to keep the rear end straight when the boost hits, I did not enjoy driving this car even though I absolutely love it.
They should release classic versions of these tracks. Classic Trial Mountain, Classic Grand Valley, etc.
That would be great but I like the new version on Trial Mountain more than the old one. It’s really the best fantasy track in GT7.

Skyline R33 on Trial Mountain : mild traumatic experience
22:45 The rental guys are now definitely not happy !
Brother, you crushed my hopes and dreams on that first lap lol.
Thank you steve for makeing this type of videos, by watching you I'm always able to improve my driving skills
Aight. 3:30 am here in India. Feels like a nice time to fall asleep.
I raced against you yesterday on red bull ring. I don't know why but my car wouldn't start from the line, it just stands there
Watching your struggle the first day I was thinking you needed to stop and come back later and as you mentioned that was what you did.
Honestly glad that section is so early in the lap so I could retry without wasting so much time😂
100% agree. I must have done 100 restarts alone for those corners.
I've been struggling with this one all week. Was using it for practice and ended up just getting discouraged because I kept invalidating the lap by going slightly too inside at the tunnel. Plus I'm still a full second off the gold time, and this is a track I'm usually very confident with...
Skill issue
@@BleedingOath yes that's precisely the issue. Idk what you were trying here, was it to make me upset? Give me a degrading comment? I already know I'm not good enough, no need to remind me
Love your stuff man if race this track a million times thanks man
I grinded this for HOURS and got a 1:51.8. It's really hard to keep the rear end straight when the boost hits, I did not enjoy driving this car even though I absolutely love it.
