Tragically missed
Thanks for sharing... Y'know, I often enjoy the solitude of backcountry camping and conversation with friends around the fire. Apart from the gentle sounds of an acoustic guitar, the music of The Hip is really the only foreign interruption I tolerate amid the natural silence. Every song a memory.
@@PMunkS Man, this is one of my favorite YT comments of all time. It's closing in on 1:30 am, and after a few hours of Hip videos, your words and Bobcaygeon (studio) are the perfect off-ramp into a deep, peaceful sleep.
"Every song a memory". Indeed.
@@aquariuslxiii I been binging on The Hip recently too. The lyrics often sound like conversations I would have with friends.
"Maybe I'll go to New York... I'll drag you there... you said no one drags me anywhere..."
Bobcaygeon hits me with settling in to a setting sun across the lake, a flickering fire, a wine-tipped colt, and fresh lake trout on the pan.
Hip fans are the best... peace! ;-)
What a set!!! Wow that’s a long show!! Thanks for this!! ❤
They were one of those bands where you didn’t want the show to end
This concert was where my wife and I celebrated our 8th anniversary (we are approaching 32 years now). It was absolutely amazing. RIP Gord.
Cheers 🎉❤
Wow, they are on form this night, makes me proud to be Canadian and i am not even Canadian...
I think the 2000s might have been their strongest decade. They had all the maturity from all the touring in the 90s and Gord's voice was so good in the 2000s (I thought it declined a little in the 2010s - a bit too much yelling. I saw an interview he did once where he talked about working with Bob Rock in the mid-2000s and how Bob made him sing with restraint - I think it worked well). The band was super tight through the 2000s as well. There is a concert from Abbotsford BC here on RUclips in 2009 that is amazing as well. Great bookends for the decade.
Filmore is a historic venue that pioneered the very musical spirit that made the Hip.
I’m sure it was not lost on the band.
Probably some titans sitting back stage. 😉
Me either eh.
passed away 6 years ago today. What a legacy he left.
Can’t believe it’s been six years already 🥲
❤
I'll never forget watching their last live performance.. they televised it all across Canada.. You could tell how frail Gord was, but he still gave it everything he had
When I’m alone and put this music on to go back to the good ol’times. Once and a while it makes me tear up thinking, what has this world come to I wanna explore the fun we use to growing up. I understand memories are meant to be memories but sometimes I wanna relive those once and while, I’m sure you do to.
Oh Canada, Oh Kingston Ontario, Oh Tragically Hip!
One of the greatest bands to ever grace the stage...and Gord was truly one of the greatest frontmen to ever exist. Much love forever gentleman 🌲🌛🇨🇦🌜🌲
And the survivors went terrorist. Still no apology & I still won’t listen to them again. FUCK YOU GUYS. BEST BAND IN THE LAND EVER & you went full blown woke Terrorisim. Why don’t you just suck 💩’Os cock?
And the survivors went full blown black lies matter bull shit & woke terrorism. FUCK THE SURVIVORS for destroying Gords impeccable reputation. You might as well just go “Fully Completely “ support of 💩’O.
100% yes.
I don’t disagree but..suddenly.there’s another “Beauty” band from Kingston called “The Glorious Sons”, which are also incredibly talented and making their way! ♥️🎶
@@mccauleyprop I'll definitely check them out, and thank you...I'm always open to new bands and music...always 👍 All the very best.
Gord Downie's impact on Canadian music and culture is immeasurable, and he should ALWAYS be remembered as one of the greatest musicians in Canadian history. He embodied the spirit and essence of Canada in his music, lyrics, and performances, and his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come. We will never forget you Gord and the impact you had on our country and our hearts. Rest in peace, Gord Downie - there will never be another like you.
Well stated ❤
he is.
He will be
But there's soo many..and in no certain order..BTO, The Guess Who, Neil Young, April Wine, The Bare Naked Ladies, Sum 41, Death From Above, Lover Boy, Alanis Morrisette, Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan , Sloan, The Hip, Blue Rodeo, THE BAND, Shania Twain and ultimately RUSH! (Of course there's many I don't like such as Drake, Joni Mitchel, Celine Dion, Justin Beiber, Shawn Mendes, anne Murray, Nellt Fertato...blah blah blah..Glad my musical taste started in the 80's and is selective today!
he is pretty fucking good but he is no Neil Young
Blessed to see them in Cleveland late 95, Top 5 bands of all time, worldwide. RIP Gord
This show is amazing. Fucking epic upload.
Long Live The Hip.
Wow.
Man who walks among the stars. ❤
Nautical disaster ( and other) Hip tunes make me cry. Im not sure why Watching Gord somehow makes me think of every person i let down, every mistake I ever made.
But i still play them every day. My pennance i guess.
Long live The Hip.
Detroit fan.
Force of nature, Gord was. RIP 🇨🇦🍁☮️
Such a unique voice, and completely irreplaceable......................................Canada lost of lot of legends that same year, but never to be forgotten.
Miss you Gord, a true Canadian Gem.
Miss you Mr. Gord Downie. And The Tragically Hip. Marusha here from Lakota House. Your house which I dedicated to you
And Chanie Wenjack.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢😢
Definitely firing on all cylinders for this one!!
Thanks for this, this was my brother(deceased)Mikes favorite band. It is because of this that i listen and appreciate the Hip more and more all the time!!!
RIP Mike and GORD!
Who knows? Maybe they have met on the other side😢😊
I loved Gord's little rambles he'd go on at a live show. Sometimes poetry, sometimes literary references, sometimes pop cultural, sometimes I had no idea. I miss him. Greasy Jungle is a seriously underrated track. Also mentioning "Wheat Kings" was enough to anyone who grew up listening to this music.
Sometimes they would be lyrics from their upcoming album.
Was lucky to see them live and it was awesome
Saw them in '86? at the Horseshoe, in TO. Footage from that night is in the Little Bones video. Just one great live memory from this band. My personal Grateful Dead. Love 'em, saw 'em soooo many times..
I was at the Buffalo thunder storm l loved every minute of that gig 2:06:33
Same here so lucky to have seen them live!
@@paulstallonedoyouremembert9268 Me too. And they appreciated us fans enough to do a make-up show shortly after.
Unfortunately Gone BUT NEVER FORGOTEN- R.I.P -Gord Downie February 6, 1964 - October 17, 2017
No one could ever replace him!!!❤
The Best Canadian Band Ever !
Period. ❤
They are great but the band was at least as good.
Uuuuh... Top 2? 😅 They are stellar! ❤🍁🎸🇨🇦
I'm sorry with all due respect I listen to 15 minutes of the spinning it's okay it's not great but it's okay but to say Canada's best band I don't know about that I think rush and the Guess who and triumph would have something to say about that
nope@@joemanna491 the Hip were the best songwriters and best live band.
best BAND ever
I will never forget the War Child concert outdoors in Winnipeg. 40000 strong
I saw the Boston area show on this tour (Somerville Theatre) on kind of a whim. As an American, I knew a little about The Hip but don't think I really knew any of their songs. The show made me an instant fan for life. I also remember never seeing so many Canadian flags in one place in my life as much as that night.....
Canadian fans travel well. Ever been to a RUSH show south of 49?
Was it this show?ruclips.net/video/XYY7N5ePbPc/видео.html
@@swise63 I hear you, but I differ. RUSH was a self-proclaiming Canadian Band. YYZ. Subdivisions.
@@billdimitroff898 Totally valid comment. Funny aside: It wasn't until I was an adult that I understood the YYZ reference...
I am Canadian and lived in the Bay area during the time period of this recording. There were at that time 250K Canadians living in the area. Whenever TH came to town the crowd was pretty much all Canadian. I remember they played in the area for 5 nights in a row at various small clubs. The show I saw had most of the Canadians playing for San Jose Sharks in attendance as well. lol
This is a great performance from Canada's band
Canada's best band, at least in my opinion. Who else did Canada have that was better than the Hip?
@@jamesfarina5764 Bryan Adams would be better
I admire how they can play electric or acoustic and still burn off the roof. Most bands cannot pull that off. Think about it. This is TALENT!! Miss the boys every day. RIP Gord. Fifty cents for an eyeball and a buck and a half for an ear.
Saw them play live in 1991 and 2009 - Gord was definitely one of a kind. When I hear all this extraordinary music, I can only think, “The past is never dead. It's not even past.”
Truly a Poet. RIP Gordie.
Love you guys and always will. Best shows I’ve ever been to and I still remember when and where I was when finding out about mr Downies diagnosis, being struck with emotion and sadness. It’s hard for me to watch him to this day and reminds me of just what we lost Oct 17 2017. RIP Gord Downie you will be remembered for a long time.
I woke on the morning of the 18th to celebrate my birthday, then I heard the sad news, didn’t feel like celebrating after that.
Know one could ever replace him!! 😢❤
Definitely grooving music, this band was fantastic live. Shout out to JOHNNY FAY....rock n roll drummer extraordinaire.
I took my wife to the Vic Theater kicking and screaming we saw them in front of 1000 people. The best. My fave at least bar none.
Vic Chicago?
"Live" 3x, Dallas Texas, front row each time, beyond blessed indeed RIP Gord Cruel that USA completely missed the best
Not all of the US missed them. Not by a long shot.
I worship Gord Downey , only second from God himself - since rediscovering The Hip circa 2006. God's speed to The Hip and long live you all 🤗😘💕🎶🎹🌠
Oh my god. I’ve been looking for this specific performance of “Last of the Unplucked Gems” for several years since it was last taken down from RUclips. Thanks for sharing this and I want you to know you’ve made my day (and most likely, my week). Cheers.
Christ, you can't beat this band. Remember the days when they first started out doing the university pub circuit ( can still remember Gord bouncin' around on stage with his long hair) - blew you away and continued to do so for their entire career. Thanks for the upload!!! ✌❤
OH, yes. Lynn.Chicago radio (WXRT) got a great dj from upstate NY who knew and supported them really early on, in the 90s. I was hooked; and every trip to GTA or Buffalo coincided with a show. People still give me wierd looks when I go on and on about them. Their loss!
I remember seeing them in 92 at lakehead university….. unreal shows
@jimg.8020 wonder if there any recordings anywhere?
I had Gordo land on my head in the mosh pit after hecdid a stage dive at the Commodore in Van in 1989 on their first tour out West. 2000 standing only venue ... it was WILD!
We picked him up by his belt and tossed him back on stage ;o). Great memories.
@@jimg.8020I miss T Bay
I knew San Francisco was a little strange but bringing Gord back to life is a good one
Now that I have gotten older, I want to keep exploring music, but instead of trying to keep up with all the new stuff that is out there, which I also enjoy some of, I am going back and listening to bands and performers that I missed growing up or growing old. The Tragically Hip is a band that I heard of but don't think I ever listened to their music. I am REALLY ENJOYING it now! Such a shame to hear of the passing of the lead singer. He truly was a gifted musician. Very cool stuff. Thanks for sharing this concert.
Tiger the Lion. Good god! Johnny was pounding them so hard.
This concert is amazing.
I miss seeing The Hip live in person so much.
This one will get played out until the grooves on the You Tube internet album are worn out.
Thank you Gord. RIP
Thank you Johnny, Gord, Paul and Robbie.
A day doesn't go by when i dont listen to you guys.
And thanks to your crew too!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤The Hip 4ever!!!!
RIGHT ON !! 🌲🍁🌲
They took over my #1 spot and never left. It's artists at work. 🤔
Breaking sticks at 53:53
I like that... "wearing out the grooves on RUclips".
I've been back here a dozen times in the past week alone... working in the garage, driving the back country, sitting out on the deck. Perfect band, unbeatable music, great performance! As far as I'm concerned each and every Hip tune is a Canadian anthem... but better!
After the few 12 or 13 times I got to see The HIP perform live, I wish there could have been hundreds more...missing the band and Gord has taught me a lesson about taking this life for granted. We always thought he would be around forever. One verse stands out for me from the last show in Kingston..."I've gotta go now, it's been a pleasure doin business with you!" Man I lost all composure until I heard that. Miss you guys💜
Tightest best band of all time with the greatest frontman of all time.
Happy Canada Day, nothing like the Hip on Canada Day.
Opening a lodge in Bobcaygen for your video was the best!, we were all fried and ate the cheese that was for a lasagna!! 😊😅. Thanks for the music Gord!
This is amazing. Thank you so much for this upload, thank you to the HIP and Gord. "The most worthy men and the fiercest guitar techs"
Glad to see them in 1997 at Maple Leaf Gardens, and later I got to work the stage at their show in Peterborough (2 blocks from my house). Always a great show. Sad to see both Gord and Neil Peart leave us too young.
Lived in p patch 84 paroled from Warkworth read Warkworth Penitentiary Canada A. Clark on sale on kindle amazon now. Raised daughter cared old mum. Sold silvrr jewelry from Mexico. Etc. A Canadian in Thailand A. Clark on sale on kindle amazon.
Miss you so much Gord..RIP....The Hip is the best...Love you guys🥰
Saw them in Berlin in 2002 at a very small venue and grabbed the setlist. Still my favorite concert to date. RIP Gord.
Thank you!!!! I have not seen this one before. Oh so sweet!!!
Most awesome Voice I have ever heard
BLASTING 'Putting Down' right now ..... shivers !!
EPIC setlist.
What a blessing to be able to enjoy Gord and the crew, the greatest Canadian rock band ever and its not even close. This show is some of their best live work in my opinion, thanks for posting and reposting.
I appreciate and respect your opinion but I believe RUSH would be up there with them
The Hip were really good, but no Canadian band will ever be better than RUSH.
I love, love LOVE The Hip!! We Miss You Gord RIP❤❤❤❤😊
An over two hour performance, and no Pigeon Camera? Oh well, I have seen them play it live a few times. I miss this band. Thank you for the upload!
Wow. Thanks for the upload. Saw them in the UK each tour (and Amsterdam a couple of times) and always in small venues. Fantastic band.
❤❤❤❤ The Hip 4-EVER‼️
Thanks for sharing. Gord's verbal improv blows me away.
Nostalgically revisiting Tragically Hip is getting me through a first time diy stairway remodel. And I only now realize how much I missed out by not seeing them live.
Jim Morison was American Poet, but Gord Downie is Canadian Poet
Whoa I didn't know this performance existed. Thank you for the upload so many great songs on here last of the unplucked gems is always been one of my favorites
Tiger the Lion in this set is probably one of their heaviest ever! Change of shirt and right into an eloquent acoustic Wheat Kings. Incredible 💕
I was lucky enough to see these guys live in Burlington Vt circa 1994. Never really been the same since.
What a gift! Thank you.
i miss him
No one plays the Banana like Gord... no one... Love this band.
Gift Shop, Unplucked Gems, Ahead by a Century - what a Trifecta of awesomeness.
One of the greatest Canadian artist who we lost too soon RIP Gord we love you,,, 🍁
Unique Voice! Love it
I used to see them when they were doing the Toronto bar circuit. First time was a place in Kingston. Before they got popular. Love me some Hip!
So many special, unforgettable memories. Thanks for the high quality share.
Tragically Hip helps me to feel better. You guys are truly a blessing .
Thank you for the upload! I've missed this show ever since the last was taken down. Wonderful performance, Tiger the Lion and Flamenco with Kate being the highlights for me. Gord was an absolute gem, one of the great lyricists of our time.
`Just the mention of Berlin makes me sexy` . Love you Guys - BIG hearts from Germany !
that version of stay is fantastic, that 2000 tour was amazing with the backup vocals added
All i can say is Thank you so much for this upload!
An absolutely incredible performance, it should be conserved in our national archives as significant to our nation. Long live the Hip
What a show
What a fantastic document of one full show, much obliged to the poster!
Supremely tight performance from the the best band north of the equator.
This is soooo good!!! ❤
Wow...just found this. I was at this show, and the one the following night. It was a treat to spend my vacation following the lads around. Does anyone have video of the show at the Aladdin in Portland a few days later?
I remember seeing them downtown Montreal at Foufounes Électriques back in 88 and it was clear af they we're on their way to the top
awesome band awesome music ✌
Saw The Hip at DTE just north of my hometown Detroit.. Since we are close to Windsor Canada there were a lot of Canadiens there it was a great concery and The Hip hit a harder rock than i expected. In my top two bands of all time.
Ill play Tthe Hip and QUOTSA untilmy times up. RIP Gord.
We miss you Gord 😢
Yeah, me and a few fellow friends in Austin. Long ago! Just listen.
Thank you for posting it's appreciated
great sound, great set list. what a band.

The cow shirt is very representative of Our area! We just traveled back through Millhaven.
Beautiful. Amazing. Passionate. Powerful.
Different.

Gord is gone now,but look what the hip left us , magical high powered sound. They were so tight in this concert they were one of Canada’s great advertisement of what we listened to up here. Thanks to ever posted this.
Frikin awesome!!!!
kind of really sweet one of my top 3 fav bands playing San Fran on my birthday...! What a sweet gift!!!! I dream of jamming with former band members,,,. it's a small country, pass it on!
Saw the Hip a few times in SF and Santa Cruz , too! The Fillmore... they hand ya a poster on the way out! Awesome! The poster for the two shows was a snarling dog at the end of a tight leash! Chris Brown n Kate Fenner opened. Thanks for posting this vid! Bobcaygeon...still get teary-eyed.
Thank you for this!!
Early 90s @ Care Free Theatre in WPB then the Cameo in Miami for their next show because I was soooo blown away I had to see it again!! Loved it then and always! Keep it HIP ya"ll!! Columbia SC USA
Hip forever
when Kate sings it gives me shivers , that comment before the song starts is for her
Who is she? Do you know anything about her? You called her Kate so I’m assuming you know a little about her. She’s very beautiful as well as having a great voice.
@@mikemurphy8996Kate fenner
What an increadable performance of grace
Tragically Hip as it may seem, I AM The One aNd something about a lost place & I AM dancing as you are playing to stop Myself fro.m.crying, & your music is at work to help Me smile &, I must say you sound incredible & incredibly like REM.
The amount of times my friends and I would drive up to Muskoka for a cottage weekend, grab a case of Moosehead and listen to the Hip under a camp fire is amazing. In my teen years it was the best. I live and grew up in the beaches area of Toronto and Gord and his wife have a house there. Sometimes we would see them with their daughter, most times people would just wave to him and smile. Funny enough, Ed Robertson of the Barenaked ladies also lives in that area of Toronto. We would always see him buying CD’s from this little music store that is Lon longer in business. Apparently there is a popular band from Toronto called “The Beaches” which gets its name from the area I grew up and all these guys live. The Beaches band are getting airplay on satellite radio in the U.S.
Great live band weren't they? Really good harmony vocals and that's not easy!
Great Canadian Band 👍👍😎🇸🇻🇨🇦
great band, period.
