    I'll likely change the thumbnail in the morning. I spent the entire day editing this just to get it uploaded ASAP. EDIT: The video seems to be doing fine without a custom thumbnail so I won't change it. At least not now. If I get bored & decide to try throwing one together, we'll see, but I think it's OK as is. Shows full transparency. I'm happy with it. I hope everyone else is too.
    EDIT 2: For everyone commenting about my not putting 2 & 2 together with my tired mind on "Super Counter", yes I know it's Z Counter renamed. 😂

  • @Aigis31
    @Aigis31 Месяц назад +3

    27:00 I think spinning the analog stick might only happen if you're on Classic controls. I've seen the same type of clash from several creators and some will have a stick spinning minigame while others have to mash a button. It's either RNG or tied to the control type.
    28:33 I think it was used against Rosie.
    32:20 I think maybe a short cooldown would be nice, but I don't hate the overall idea. You're expending a Blast Stock/Skill Count to be able to retain your standard Ki if you only use your Sparking Ki on a Super. Considering Skill Count is going to be a much more precious resource (thanks to Revenge Counter and Skill Perception), I think this is fine.

    Yo! Just letting you know. for the tagging system, it's intentional. They said that there are actually combo routes where you can switch into other characters and keep the combos going. I don' t think it's as broken as you think it'll be. I think it's just to help the pacing and add some extra risk/reward to the combo system (do you want to lose your ability to switch out for a few minutes to get some extra damage on your combo?) also seems pretty high skill so I'm personally fine with it.

    that Trunks follow up was just the regular new auto string rush combo with square. if you keep pressing square every character will do that combo where they extend and then hit you up in the air and then vanish and smash you down into the ground. The step in just interrupts that now kind of like a cancel but ive seen a few different types of cancels already so the melee combat in this game probably feels very fluid and responsive but like you said in another video there is potential for infinites for sure but i mean they did add alot of new defensive mechanics for a reason lol i think they just want this game to feel super fast paced and crazy like the series.

    Note that the ki blasts being able to combo is a result of a longer hitstun. It seems like they made hitstun a bit longer + combo counter is more leniant akin to other new fighters out today (Edit: There's no perfect blocks, it was just a block against a smash that stunned Vegeta and others like the previous games)

    • @warhawk059377
      @warhawk059377  Месяц назад +1

      Considering it didn't contribute to the Skill Stocks, I'm going to assume it's a new block & stagger animation that's been given to attacks that have been charged. In BT3, even if you let go of punch before the perfect timing, it never broke guard or sent you into a stall, so this time I think they've added that in, looking back on it now.

    I really apreciate them putting in work to make the game more anime\manga like but as you said it would be really sad and no point to keep dash canceling if there are no stun barriers and that clip of frieza bouncing of the wall straight down scare me. I feel like my coverall concern with the new combo system is if it is too easy. Its already hard enough for Tenkaichi to beat the "its just a button masher" allegations as is to the casual person lol i like the new extensions but dk everything having a free press squre follow up window. Again great breakdown your hard work is appreciated

    • @warhawk059377
      @warhawk059377  Месяц назад +11

      Tenkaichi can beat the button-mashing allegations if the people making the allegations become open-minded or simply open their ears & listen. Many Dragon Ball fans are ignorant &/or stubborn, and even egotistical to the point they don't want to be educated about a game that they had irrational disdain for. It could be any factor. Either way, auto combos & Battle Assist will definitely make that task 85% harder to accomplish, but it's still doable. I will be doing a full review of the game when it comes out.

      You'll see it in the skill list at the end but it is indeed when 2 throws collide. It just seems that they didn't bother to give it a certain timeframe of activation because in that clip you timestamped, again, Gogeta must've been in frame 1 of starting his grab & the Power Impact (what it's called) ensued. To me this is very dumb but I get that a LOT of people don't have the reflexes to grab when their opponent is going for one as well, so it was a way of making it easy to do, making it feel more like a Dragon Ball game which is the focus for Sparking Zero.

  • @cswirls
    @cswirls Месяц назад +1

    1:32:04 After looking at some more footage (Dotodoya’s specifically), I think the Sparking! Combo is more so relating to just being able to do Supers/Ults mid combo (or cancelling rush combos into Supers/Ults). If you look at his Trunks vs Beerus battle, he does a ground slash into Ult relatively fast, way faster than in any Tenkaichi at least. He then does it again not too long after that and looking back at this specific spot in your video I think it lines up. The Blast Combos you’re mentioning usually show up in the Combo section for characters in the past games.

I want it to be a great game that we can all enjoy for several years & even match BT3's currently-ongoing record. Or for the sake of this comment; match Xenoverse 2's longevity, at least. Look, I really like to see a professional player's comments about the combat so far, but I find it really funny when a bunch of them is "X thing is different/missing from BT3, that is EXTREMELY B A D." Almost like the game is trying to be a Remake from BT3, and not a sequel... I understand there may be a few issues with them changing some aspects of the combat that may open paths to some broken maneuvers, but them REMOVING some maneuvers is not a problem whatsoever. I mean, the combat is already 95% close to BT3, why should we be concerned if the rest 5% aren't the same? Let them be different games, please.
    And this isn't meant to sound rude, but you really sounded to me like you, being a pro player of BT3, is more concerned with this game being "BT3 Part 2" rather than a "BT4". Lots of your critics are valid, tho. I hope they change some grab and flying kick animations, doesn't sound too difficult at all.

      Let me begin my response by saying I was one of the first people who said that the game is going to be different both visually & gameplay-wise while other people were complaining. I'm one of the biggest advocates for that mainly because Tenkaichi 3 is an old game with an unexpectedly solid formula.
      In no way am I expecting Sparking Zero to be Tenkaichi 3 "part 2" as you called it. The game has already been solidified as Tenkaichi 4.
      That all being said, I have to point out one of your sentences here; "I understand there may be a few issues with them changing some aspects of the combat that may open paths to some *broken maneuvers*, but them *removing some maneuvers is not a problem whatsoever*". Now, allow me to clarify this.
      - Changing aspects of the combat that may open paths to some broken maneuvers; the maneuver or whatever combat-involved mechanic that leads up to the maneuver, if it is *broken,* it is a problem. It's very rare, at least in arena fighters, and just DB for the moment, that a broken mechanic is beneficial to a video game's growth & longevity. Tenkaichi 2 for example, all of its advanced mechanics are technically considered broken, but it's also what makes the game so much more complicated & entertaining.
      - REMOVING some maneuvers is not a problem; ordinarily, yes, you would be correct in saying it isn't a problem but if we take stun barriers & the current Dragon Dash speed as an example; if even one of those is gone, a very big percentage of Tenkaichi's essence, is gone. Combat in Tenkaichi 3 is not the biggest field in the game, it's also movement & ki blast techniques.
      - Why should we be concerned if the rest 5% aren't the same; I wasn't initially going to respond to this one (no negative energy here, just didn't feel like I had to respond to this part, is all) but I think I should by saying, because casuals will get tired of the game sooner than later. Part of what made Tenkaichi 3 so great was its MASS depth mechanics. And unfortunately, without someone even reasonably experienced to play Sparking Zero, we have absolutely no clue what the game has to offer outside of the casual aspect except that one situation I found w/ Revenge Counter.
      You're not sounding rude. Even if you were I'd address it without any animosity.
      No, I'm not concerned w/ the game being BT3 "part 2", I'm just concerned about it retaining an ENORMOUS aspect of what made Tenkaichi so great, because let's face some reality here; NOBODY in North America decided to give BT3 a second look (most people didn't anyway) until Sparking Zero came into the picture. Up until this point, BT3 was nothing more than a childhood game to most where people would mash a couple of combos & Supers, and call it a day.
      EVERYTHING that I've been pointing out is to *help the game's longevity for the developers, the casual aspect AND whatever it may have to offer for the competitive aspect*. I care more about Sparking Zero being a game *everyone* can enjoy for YEARS, rather than a game where people play it for around 2 years & then drop it for various reasons.
      I hope this gives you some insight to understanding my thought process & standpoint.
      Thank you! I really do hope they change them, too.

    • @kauaaraujo7341
      @kauaaraujo7341 Месяц назад

      @@warhawk059377Sorry for being late to respond, I didn't get any notifications about your answer and didn't bother opening this video again, but here I am!
      - First, I think you may have misunderstood my point about maneuvers: in no way I'm saying that having broken mechanics is good. I meant to say that changing the BT3 mechanics in a way that open paths to broken maneuvers IS (probably, unless it ends up being like in BT2 case) bad. What I DON'T think it's bad is them removing some of these high-level maneuvers, because the game will inevitably have new ones. How I look at it, it isn't a case where "Oh, they have removed these maneuvers, now the game lost it's depth!" But rather "Oh, these maneuvers are gone, but we have new ones... Let's explore these!". And I'm certain no one will figure these things out before the game properly launches (even because these things may very well change before release) and people have contact with it for a few weeks/months. English is not my mother-language, so it might've been miscommunication on my part.
      - About the Dragon Dash speed, I think it still falls on my previous point: some aspects may change, but they won't invalidate the high-level gameplay. Rather, they'll only make old players adapt to these changes and formulate new strategies and maneuvers based on this new game's changes. Tenkaichi is a 19 years series at this point, I'm not complaning if the game's high level play changes completely as long as low and mid level stays the same. And we know that's the case with all the gameplay footage so far.
      - Third point, again a misunderstoodment. You're taking those 5% being changed = removed. Like the whole competitive scene will be dead because those things were "removed" rather than "changed", just like Raging Blast did. While all I'm saying is that those 5% are being "renovated": they depth is still there, just in another way. And here's where my whole "You want this game to be BT3 Part 2" sentence goes: forgive me if this seems rude again, but it seems that you, being a long-time BT3 player, can't conceive the idea of the competitive scene being different because some things are different (like the Dragon Dash speed and stun barriers), ignoring that the game is fundamentally a different one, that's adding and changing lots of things. The competitive scene may not be based on the same fundamentals as BT3, but that's not a bad thing. I mean, we had 17 years to play BT3 at this point, might as well embrace the new game and adapt to it's combat in order to build a brand new competitive scene that, without nostalgia glasses, may be even better than what we have now? Or at least fun enough being something new to do after so many years.
      - Well, for the last point, I figured that I should start by stating this: I'm not a North American. I'm a South American... Yeah, you probably know what that means. I didn't "play this game in my childhood": I played this game almost my whole life. Granted, I didn't go to tournaments or anything like that, and while I think I do fairly well in mid-level play (i.e someone who knows everything the game tells me, but not mechanic-exploits that most high-level players rely on), I'm sure I would be no match for someone like you who plays the game in fundamentally different ways than I do. But I'm certainly far from someone who only looks to BT3 as a shallow button-masher with flashy special moves, and I'm above 100% sure anyone that says this never bothered opening the combo list: that thing has everything you need to know for mid-level play and probably isn't lacking much, mechanically-wise, from high-level play.
      I think that's mostly it. Even if all SZ had for it was everything that's said in the combo list and the tutorials, I still think the game's competitive scene would last as long as BT3 did. It is a brand-new game with brand-new graphics, mechanics, modes, characters, moves, everything. But even so, I'm still confident people will find things about the game after they properly play it that will allow the game to build it's own competitive scene, even if it doesn't share the same foundations as BT3. Again, as I said, I think it is way more important (specifically for this game) that it maintains it's core mechanics and up until mid-level play, or in other words, for it to stay the game those developers envisioned: a fun, casual game, that even if not having a proper balance among characters, has lots of depths to it's combat. It's not the button-masher people who only played it in their childhood pretend to, and it's not the competitive EVO game that some (not you!!!) wish for it to be, but instead something perfectly in the middle of these two things, and I think that's precisely where the Sparking! Series have found it's place to shine. Cheers from Brazil!

    Man unless they make the right tweaks and changes this game is going to be a hot unbalanced mess lol…and one of the developers already praised how they want the game to be unbalanced so they’re putting emphasis on this game. Rushing attack supers can travel all the way across Snake Way and I just know the exploits people find in matches are going to be annoying online especially with that team switch out that is just crazy if they don’t change that. Somehow I’m a find some way to enjoy this game but man this gonna be a anticipated headache 😂

      Unbalanced mess is why Budokai Tenkaichi is the most popula rDragon Ball game franchise though. I don't want balance touching my game with a ten foot pole ^^

      @@RancorSnp There were things with even Tenkaichi games if we had the technology of today that game could’ve used something touch up….the nostalgia goggles gotta come off at some point none of those games were perfect and there are things with Sparking Zeros development that they can still clean up before it’s release it’s not even about post release patching it’s whats to come as they are making and presenting the game

      @@c0wboys4life No no, I'm saying that lack of balance and concern for these things IS the appeal of the game for me, Budokai Tenkaichi series is the only dragon ball game franchise I care about. Of course I won't know how it plays until I play it myself, but again - this is what I enjoyed, what made me buy these games, I couldn't care less about competitive Dragon Ball games - the balance is ruining the fun. I actively WANT the game to be imbalanced so it's just stupid fun, and not yet another sweaty competitive arena fighter

    1:28:00 I'm surprised you did not know what that was. That's the Z-Counter, renamed to Super Counter (because we now have DBS and it sounds fitting I assume). Done by pressing Up+Square (⬆+🟪). And in my opinion, that's probably the most badass parry in all of gaming history. You can Z-Counter while down on the floor and for free! So OP and difficult to perform.
    I still hope it is a frame-1 counter so it is hard to abuse. Also, it was modified in DBSZ and now it does not cause a vanishing struggle when performed. It now works they way it was supposed: as a parry. It pushes the opponent back.

      My tired brain didn't compute it when I read it because I didn't properly look at the inputs after reading the description. I added it to my edited pinned comment. xd And thank you. 😊
      EDIT: And yes, I agree. It now being a parry into a counterattack is great. I just wish it were a bit faster.

    14:09 tbh this could be a broken mechanic, but at least you can’t switch whenever you want anymore, because if you look under there health bar there’s a switch thing or wtv (meaning that needs to be lit up so you can switch to a character)

      There's a possibility this is that switch combo we saw in the skill list. It makes me wonder how big the window is for your character to spawn near the enemy; while the damage is still on screen? Before the hit counter disappears? It should be a factor related to those.
