    A throw-in is awarded to the opponents of the player who last touched the ball when the entire ball passes over the sideline, whether on the ground or in the air.
    In order to take a throw in, there are a few rules to consider:
    Rule #1 for Throw In Rules for Football - You must stand facing the field of play at the spot the ball went out-of-bounds.
    Opponents must stand at least 2 yards away from where the throw-in is to be taken. If a player, intentionally throws the ball at an opponent in order to play the ball again but not recklessly or with excessive force, the referee may allow play to continue. If done maliciously, the referee can award a free kick to the other team and potentially a yellow card to the person who took the throw-in.
    Rule #2 for Soccer Throw in Rules - Have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline, but not past the touchline.
    Keep in mind that the thrower must not touch the ball again until it has touched another player because it will be an indirect free kick for the other team if they do.
    Rule #3 for Throw In Soccer Rules - Throw the ball with both hands from behind and over the head.
    The ball is in play when it enters the field of play. If the ball touches the ground before entering, the throw-in is retaken by the same team from the same position. If the throw-in is not taken correctly it is retaken by the opposing team.
    A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw-in. If the ball enters the opponents’ goal without touching anyone else from either team, a goal kick is awarded. If the ball enters the thrower’s goal without touching anyone, a corner kick is awarded.
    Pro-Tips for How to Throw In Soccer Ball
    Pro-Tip #1 for Soccer Rules for Throw Ins - Have your team’s outside midfielders, wingbacks, and fullbacks be the designated throw in takers so that they will not be far out of position when they leave the field of play and to let the players who are better with the ball at their feet (normally the attacking midfielder and forwards) try to get open to receive the ball. Also, because their positioning is along a sideline, they can quickly grab the ball when it goes out for a quick throw-in to catch the other team not paying attention.
    Pro-Tip #2 - Since the ball does not need to go up the field when doing a thrown in, don’t be afraid to throw the ball to open defenders on your team to ensure your team maintains possession.
    Pro-Tip #3 - Exercises in the gym like the pullover will help you improve strength to take a long throw-in, but in all honestly, you should not be lifting weights only to improve how far you can throw the ball. There are more important aspects of soccer than the throw-in. So, if you are going to lift weights, focus on the squat and deadlift especially.
    Avoid raising one or both feet when doing a throw-in because this will give possession of the throw-in to the other team.
    Also, avoid throwing the ball over a shoulder. It will result in an illegal throw-in and possession for the other team. The ball must go over your head using both hands.

    Important clarification on the line…..both feet can be in the field of play as long as both heels are touching the line. Some famous goals have occurred where ppl though it was a foul throw cause the thrower stepped over the line. Refs called them properly because the players heel was on the line.

    I have a question and I want that answer. If a thrower throw the ball and no on touched the ball and ball hit the ground can thrower himself kick the ball or not. And if he kick the ball and make a goal is it score or not plz give me answer .we face this problem in a match

      The throw-in taker can not be the first player to touch the ball after a throw-in. If they did touch it, it would be an indirect free kick for the other team. (Therefore, they cannot score from their own throw-in if no one else touched the ball.)

    Important query: Can a player plant half of his foot inside field of play if his some portion of foot is touching the sideline?

    • @UnderstandSoccer
      @UnderstandSoccer  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yep! You can have just your heals along the sideline and you are good. However, most refs don't know this rule and they assume you have to be behind the white line along the sideline.

    2:36 On the wikipedia page about throw-ins, it states that you can be offside during a throw-in and that you also can't be penalised for an offside offence from a throw-in. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throw-in and also a video that says the same ruclips.net/video/4C961hfCY6I/видео.html
    is this correct?

    I have a question, in the situation where the thrower is completely inside the field,no heels or part of both foot is in the touchline, what is the correct decision? Is it retaken or awarded to opponent???

    • @UnderstandSoccer
      @UnderstandSoccer  5 месяцев назад +2

      It should be awarded to the opponent. But ultimately, it is what the ref says...

    You are allowed to lift up your front foot for the run in, right?

      What do you mean by lift up your front foot?

    • @fireflames3639
      @fireflames3639 Год назад +1

      @@UnderstandSoccer It might be hard to explain, but what I'm getting at is that sometimes players will be several feet back so they can run up to throw in, and they will lift up the front foot from the ground as they are getting ready to release (for more power) and then put it back down a split second before they throw the ball. The back foot, however they do drag across the ground. Is this illegal? If you don't understand the question that's fine you don't have to answer.

    • @UnderstandSoccer
      @UnderstandSoccer  Год назад

      @@fireflames3639 Thank you for explaining your question further. They can have the front foot off the ground or back foot off the ground as long as they have not released the ball yet. But when the ball is released, part of both feet must be touching the ground.

      ⚽️ is a massive part of the culture in 🇬🇧 , 🇩🇪 , 🇪🇸 , 🇫🇷 , 🇮🇹 etc or south America. In the uk go to any park on a weekend and there is a strong chance you will find a bunch of kids or a group of blokes playing football ⚽️ using jumpers (not sure if you have a different word for jumpers lol 😂) just checked and you call jumpers sweaters lol. Anyway where was I ? Sweaters for 🥅 goal posts. Whereas in the states it’s obviously not the number 1 sport.
      Guessing you are more likely to see kids playing 🏈.
      I guess The standards of play will likely be a bit better too in europe / south america as there will be more leagues and more competition. Though this is just a guess.
      Worth mentioning that five, six, seven a side ⚽️ is also very popular if you have never played that format.
