I was wondering how far a professional football player can shoot directly with accuracy? the most distance goal in this video are around 95-96 meters from the goal post, but the ball was not directly got in to the net. It bounced at least once, unlike half field goal which shows perfect parabolic trajectory toward the back of the net.

The further away the goalkeeper is from the goal the more area he effectively covers. That's why it mathematically makes sense to step forward when the enemy is far away.

You shouldn't be able to score a goal in your own goal from a corner kick if it goes in directly. If nobody touches it and it goes in, it is a corner kick for the opposing team.

I find these 40-50m goals where the goalie is standing on his line infinitely "more ridiculous" then the long range shots where the keeper is out of goal.

Standard weight of the ball for both is virtually the same, but the shape of an American football pretty much guarantees less aerodynamic efficiency... It's truly tough to say which is the more impressive athletic feat. Both are truly incredible in their own right! :)

As a defender in high school, I struck a long distance goal behind the half-line. Truth is that the ball bounced once or twice before it went into the net. I mishit the shot and the ball popped way into the air - the sun got into the goalie's eyes - and the rest is history. But a goal's a goal, right?

8:12 - Tim Howard's goal... I was there for it. I was behind the goal in the Gwladys street end. I had a packet of crisps on me. I looked down at it to grab some as it was passed back to Howard. I looked up and couldn't see the ball. Then I saw it hit the back of the net. In the midst of cheering I turned to my mate and said "who TF scored that?!?" and he screamed back "HOWARD!".
I always find it funny watching it back and listening to the commentary when the commentator says "everybody in the ground could see what was going to happen" and I'm always thinking "yeah.... everybody but me"
