    One bit of feedback is that the ball actually "clearly moves" in the part of the video where you say "it's not enough to just step on it." While the words you say are correct, the video shows you stepping on it and clearly moving the ball. That might confuse some people. Some might say if you can move the ball by stepping on it, you've done more than step on it, but in any case, as long as the ball clearly moves and satisfies the definition of kicked, then the first touch is good. I understand recording on turf made that part difficult so not being critical just offering clarification that seems appropriate.

      Absolutely! You are definitely correct! Ty for the feedback. 💪

    I had a referee in my kids game today say the ball had to do one full rotation with the first touch before the ball could be direct kicked into the goal by another player which overturned my kid’s equalizer in a tight game. The ball clearly moved but only a half rotation. Completely made up rule based on FIFA Laws of the game. So frustrating.
    This was after they had called it indirect when it was a hand ball. (Note: hand balls are always direct)

    I have a question for u? If suppose indirect free kick hit direct to the goal post and ball touches goalkeeper body and entered into the goal then it will be count as a goal or not?

    • @UnderstandSoccer
      @UnderstandSoccer  2 года назад +1

      Great question. That would be considered a goal because it touched one other player from either team (the other team’s goalkeeper) before entering the net.

    Last weekend at a tournament for 2015 girls we had a ref insisting they pass the ball on an indirect. He stopped and restarted play trying to explain. The girls haven’t been taught the indirect laws so naturally, they were kicking it directly at the wall which is legal from my understanding the ball needs to move wether touching, a teammate or an opponent before a shot on goal is taken or in the process of ?

    • @UnderstandSoccer
      @UnderstandSoccer  5 месяцев назад

      Yea, it does not need to be passed. It can be shot. As long as it contacts a defender or teammate before entering the net, it counts as a goal. Sounds like you know the rule better than the ref. 💪

      @@UnderstandSoccer No, but I coach youth soccer, and I was just talking with a ref. Formerly, on an indirect near the opponents 18, I would have one player tap and another shoot. An official told me that was no longer legal and basically that the ball has to move in earnest. So, very helpful and up to date! You earned my subscription!

    so why in so so so many soccer posts out there it says ... Touch. It should say the ball must move. Touch to me is just that, touch. I know a team now that is trying that sneaky trick with a indirect kick. they have two kids stand next to the ball. the first one runs up and taps it and moves away and right away the second kid kicks it. So i saw your video and that is 100000 percent wrong for what they are doing ? thanks

    • @UnderstandSoccer
      @UnderstandSoccer  Год назад +1

      According to the FA, the governing body over the rules, yes, the ball must move. A touch is not sufficient. However, different leagues have different rules and it is ultimately up to the ref. So ask them before the game to make sure you do what they say...

    • @davidb.7040
      @davidb.7040 Год назад +1

      I even you tubed the rule after I ask you for help some professional games one could see a player just tapped it and then the next guy kicked it. Other games maybe different location. Different League? Same thing. Older adults the guy tapped it and moved the ball. Then the next guy kicked it so it must be up to the individual leagues

    • @UnderstandSoccer
      @UnderstandSoccer  Год назад

      @davidb.7040 Yep, definitely based on each league because their rules may differ and all the refs differ. 🙄

      It’s funny how so many of you make this football/soccer thing a huge deal 😂 let it be already. In the United States if you say football, 99.9 percent of people think you’re talking about helmet football so just relax..we can say soccer and it’s not a mortal sin ok ?
