I want one (or rather the Samyang clone in my budget), but the heft kinda puts me off from buying it. If I manage to go professional, then yes, bet as a hobbyist it is difficult to justify. But just last week I wish I had it at a doctoral defense
I’ve had the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 for 7 months now and I love it. It is heavy but it never comes off my camera. I first had it on my a7c, I know, 😂. But I bought the small rig cage with the grip for the a7c and that made a huge difference. I recently bought an a7iv and I added the peak design hand grip clutch and now it is an absolute pleasure shooting with this lens. The grip helps distribute the weight so well that I don’t feel all of the weight on my wrist anymore. I don’t shoot video so I can’t speak to that. I shoot mostly portrait and event work and family pics. I also use an FE 20mm f/1.8. highly recommend this lens.
I'm in a similar position looking to add this lens as a travel set up. I've been using the Sony 24/1.4GM and 40/2.5G for street and urban photography in London, but want to add a versatile zoom to cover the mid/tele range as well. have you noticed how the FE20/1.8 renders images differently from the Tamron 35-150/2-2.8? I'm curious about how this lens renders colors and contrast compared to Sony's own lenses. Thanks!
@@Sparky_oto I haven’t noticed a difference in the colors or contrast compared to the FE 20mm f/1.8 or FE 85mm f/1.8. I’m sure there might be a slight difference but nothing stands out to me while editing.
thank you for your review!! it really took me some months to really consider getting this lens due to weight~~ but my order will arrive next week! I hope my back will not break that much!! time for strength training!!
I like the video.. exactly what i am facing.. I need to use lens support 😢plates can’t afford this long lens.. even more counter weights to make barrel expansion less noticeable..so setup is very heavy even with using tilta advace ring grip. I think the lens is perfect for hand held.. having long lens.. give you better grip.
This reminds me of the fx30 and 18-105 setup I used to have. I got some incredible shots with that combination. The only problem was it was an f4. I have the ZVe1 now and really want this lens. I think I may rent it as you suggested.
Cool skin on the lens and camera. I'm a believer in this lens as well. Yes it's heavy, but in use I don't mind the weight. For me, I notice the weight more when just carrying it.
@@thb5505 I wish I can but aliexpress doesnt do any of that and If I recommend you an amazon one or someone else. it might be marked up substancially high. so I'd rather give you my source so you can enjoy it.

@@lawrencelam1820 since you have the 16-35 then I think the 35-150 is a good combo and have more reach. I think you won't regret getting it except for the weight. Also please use my affiliate link 🙌
If it's your GM Lenses, I would definitely keep the 35mm F1.4 and sell the 50mm 1.8 and 85mm f1.4, because I think an update for the 85mm F1.4 is around the corner, and the 50mm F1.8, I'm guessing it's the cheaper one is worth the trade-offs.
how about the way the Tamron 35-150 renders colors and contrast? I've been shooting with the Sony 24//1.4GM and 40/2.5G, but contemplating getting the T35-150 as a travel set up. Before I joined Sony, I was a long time Fuji shooter and never liked how the third party lenses render images as they tend to look flat / muted compared to Fuji's OEM lenses. @enerico would you be able to share how this lens compares to Sony's own G/GM lenses? Thanks!
@@Sparky_oto Based on my experience I have the 35mm GM and the Tamron is contrasty and colors are nice (A bit in a warmer side). It is sharp but the prime GM lenses are sharper.

Thats for sure, thank you for the encouragement sir.
What about the Samyang 35-150mm? What do you think after 6 months?
I would also recommend that too as its a cheaper alternative but of course its slight heavier and auto focus is a little different from tamron.

Just aliexpress tbh

Where do you buy the skins for your lenses? That’s a really nice look for them 👌
I usually buy them in AliExpress because it's almost the supplier price and they fit really well.
I have this lens and it’s great. I have the rsc2 and that gimbal can’t support it to the lenses full zoom range.
I think the C2 version won't because of the 3lbs payload limit. I think the RS2 & 3 Pro are about 12lbs
Even on the RS2 Pro, When I was balancing it, the space between the camera and the roll axis is tight so the RS3 Pro is a good pair for it.
