    A sad but true point on how the need to win can dangerously replace the need for justice. This is another most timeless performance by Al Pacino.

      Justice? We don't even have truth anymore. There's no way to have justice without truth. When you can't say true things because of reprecussions, harassment, or fear of those things we're lost.

Hearing him say “both sides just want to win regardless of the truth or justice” smh that’s the law system today because defense lawyers literally lie to get a guilty client off knowing they are guilty just to win..twisting justice saying “everyone deserves a defense” um yea they do but everybody don’t deserve to be free hurting & killing others! completely unrealistic on so many levels but Pacino performance as usual, flawless. Great acting, great movie, judge Fleming also was excellent.

    Special mention to John Forsyth's silent performance.
    Firstly, he has that smug look, knowing that he's going to win the case. Then the expression changes to surprise when Arthur says the girl isn't lying. He then looks angry & disgusted when Arthur finally has his meltdown, before slumping in his chair with the look of defeat. It may be a mistrial, but Fleming's career is as good as over.
    Al Pacino has the dialogue, John Forsyth has the facial expressions.

    I'm confused wouldn't this just create a mistrial and wouldn't that be good for the judge?

    • @EricaNewGirl
      @EricaNewGirl 5 месяцев назад +13

      It will yes. But public perception will forever be tarnished for the judge making the next trial more difficult. Arthur will also likely be disbarred. It’s the best option bc the judge had dirt on Arthur that would get him disbarred anyway to force him to represent him. The reason the judge wants Arthur to defend him is bc they have a long history of hating each other. So in the judge’s mind “if the lawyer who hates him proves he is innocent, he must really be innocent” in the public’s perception. Also the whole movie is about Arthur’s innocent clients getting screwed by the system. So he’s given up caring now.

    I'm gonna go on record and say that Al Pacino had a stronger acting performance in this scene than the man playing juror no. 1 over Pacino's left shoulder at 6:17
