Fishing line is actually a pretty good thing to use for suture material. It's very similar to the actual suture material you'd put in skin (i.e. synthetic monofilament). You don't wanna use something like thread because bacteria can wick into the wound between the fibres. His problem was almost certainly that there was a bunch of shit in the wound and he didn't flush it first. If he'd done that he could have been fine.

Things were different back in 82. I was 15 and I decided to buy some clippers and buzz all the hair off my head. The cool thing, at the time, was to have long hair, preferably, in a mullet. So I went the other way and got rid of my mullet hair. It made me a pariah, and I was accosted by strangers and got into several fights. I either got called a "faggot" or a "Nazi" before the fight started. When I got home, my parents grounded me for being a skinhead. I told them that there are no skinheads in our little Oklahoma town of 40,000 people, and that I was just a guy without a mullet. The next day my dad apologized and said that if he had come home with hair like that when he was my age, his dad would have probably raised his allowance. It was like everyone hated me as soon as they saw my hair or lack there of. To this day, I have yet to see a barber. All I need are some shears ;)
    Peace

Times have changed a bit, I'm in my 30s and still shave my head. I get asked almost every night out "Born and raised?" or "Where are you from" and I know the next question or comments going to be some ignorant racist garbage. One of my friends told me to just ignore ignorant people because they're not worth the time. When I explained how they approach and I have to shut it down harshly or I'll end up hearing some racists life story they said "I never thought about it like that, yeah it makes sense"
At least where I live people are way less likely to be openly racist now, but if they think you might be then all the freaks come out of the woodwork.

There was a party house of punks we used to go to in the nineties. Punks from all over the world seemed to come visit. Every month there was exotic people that were into the lifestyle. So these boneheads started harassing a girl and the biggest dude that ran the party stood up for her and when they got physical he tossed the guy out. So one day they showed up with an entire crew and found the big guy that stood up for her and they took a sledgehammer to his skull. I was not there for that but a good friend of mine told me how he took his shirt off and wrapped it around his head and saved his life. Last I heard the big guy was forever mentally altered and the house was condemned by the city to be demolished anyway so it become abandoned. It was such a shame how all of us looking to have a good time goofing off got assaulted by hate looking for a fight. Out come the wolves I guess.

That's awful. I'm in Oklahoma and I've never met a white supremacist. I've been all over the US and it's hard to imagine a sub culture of white supremacists manifesting out there in I'm assuming California? What decade did that happen? Are they like, idk, I dunno how to even ask it. Like, what's their aesthetic? How do they find each other on the streets? In prison, I kinda get it. But like... idk.
Those tales of boneheads always confused me. Then again, a lot of stuff confuses me. Lol.
It seems to me like when people find out im a Native American with, like, prowess, idk, they kind tighten up their behavior and just drop all the nonsense. But, like, in Oklahoma, being Native isn't really all that unique.
Like im in my 30s and I've got some experiences of my own but like in the 80s when punks fought with nazis.... like, that just doesn't make sense to me. I'm like that sounds like organized crime, why didn't anybody bust it up?
We don't really take much shit in OK. It's a little different. Lol.

@@lejay7511 I only got caught off guard by them very few times in life. It was rare but those few times were always an awful fight. Way back in high school was my first experience on a bus to school. I was maybe 15 and was already wearing leather denim and studs to protect myself from the street violence that was going on in the area. One of them started poking fun and I was not in the mood so when he shoved me I knocked him over for daring to put a hand on me and half the bus lunged at me. So I used the kid as a shield and his tshirt had a swastika on it so I assume they were young boneheads. My leather and stud jacket made good armor against the kicks and lunges. When I made it to then front of the bus I grabbed a fire extinguisher to unleash on them but it didn't work. They chased me into a nearby resturaunt and threatended to kill my entire family. The dean had to convince me to come back to school and I eventually did but I never rode a bus again. I got up an hour earlier just to walk and I always carried my cheaper guitar as a self defense weapon if needed. I have no idea what happened to them but hopefully some form of karma.
The worst one was many years later I was almost 30. I went to a local metal show and we were all drinking and having a great time until this one huge dude covered in muscles and scars like all he knew was a battlefield started elbow smashing everyone in the forehead knocking them down instantly. I was drinking whiskey and when he came at me I lunged down instinctivly into his gut and launched him up over me out of the crowed towards the bouncer. I figured the bouncer would handle it but instead this big dude came over and slapped my nose so hard it broke sideways and got blood all over the floor. He had a big swastika tatood on his neck. The bouncer did nothing. Everyone just hoped he would leave and he did after kicking everyones ass. The owner of the bar asked if I needed an ambulance but I figured I just needed another shot of whiskey so I wouldn't feel myself about to break my nose back into place. All I knew is I had work in the morning and I still made it in on time.
The hate is terrible and toxic. I don't want any part of it. It was the Boston area which is full of various culture and that's cool good but sometimes that variety doesn't like all the variety. People man. I can't make sense of it. I just wanted to enjoy music with anyone who just wants to enjoy music.

They were not really Right-wing, unless you want to designate them far-Right fascists, which might be accurate especially the current Skinheads in Germany now that relish the term “Nazis.”
What is great about this story was his reference to his getting stabbed during those drinking-drugging years. I love how he’s telling this story with no grimace at all; about how he his brother’s sewing him up with no anesthesia, the subsequent infection, (he could have died)…well- there’s the pain!!! Hell, the stab wound wouldn’t hurt as much as the sewing it up with a fishing line!!! And, then taking it out!!! lol
He tells this so matter-of-factly - just crazy. You gotta love this guy! He so passionate and genuine! I love the way way he talks about his son, too. What a life! Loved the Ramones stories, too.
During my 1983 San Francisco one man show, lots of society types were there. Then, a very tall, young guy with long black hair, walked by me and said, “Nice work man.”

Huh? I'm a little confused here.
    1. Why would Lars' mother being Danish have any influence in any way on him having run ins or interactions of any kind with skinheads? I mean maybe if his mom was black and he was a mixed punk or skin, that might be an obvious reason a nazi skin would beef with him. Or how about maybe the fact that he was a punk / sometimes skinhead himself and hanging out in that scene being a A-1 for sure way to run into skinheads, punks, bikers, dope fiends, hesher metal heads etc.
    2. He had never heard of super glue working for wounds? You don't need the fishing line. (Unless its real deep or near a vital area them u need ER) you just CLEAN the wound, then hold it shut, then lay a layer of super glue on top of wound and boom done.

I thought you might be interested in hearing about the Collinwood Gang, who were interviewed by Daniel and McGuire for the book "The Paint House". They were the original Skinheads who started the fad involving tens of thousands of British kids within a year. Then the eight month period known as the "Fad of '69" began the diversification of Skinhead. Today, of course, there are White Power Skinheads, anti-racist, gay, and so-called "trads," short for traditional, among others. The various groups operating beneath the Skinhead banner debate whether the original Skinheads were racist or listened to reggae. The Paint House, which precedes modern debate by many decades, definitively answers both questions: The original Skinheads were actually VERY racist and did not listen to reggae, because it was was black music. The original Skinheads ranted mostly against blacks living in England, but also against "pakis" and Jews. Skinheads were violently racist from the beginning. Anybody wanting to learn the origins of the worldwide racist Skinhead phenomenon, must read The Paint House. Saying that the original skinheads were anti-racist is simply not true.. regardless of how anyone feels on the matter or what they tell themselves to make themselves feel better. But reality is reality.
