Jesse, I really hope you read this. You looked really nervous up there. I don't think you've been on stage in a while, and doing such a classic Op Ivy must have been nerve wracking. BUT PLEASE PLAY AGAIN. Please read all the comments. We love your music. I'm 45, and Op Ivy was the soundtrack to my youth. Now it's the soundtrack to my kid's youth. You made something very special. Thank you for sharing it with the world.
Absolutely!!! Please work with Tim and do a operation ivy reunion. 🙏🏽 it was so amazing to see this. Those people didn't know how truly special this was.
I thought he just need little warm up before up to the stage 😁 coz in the end of part he started jump and more enjoy it. Love them since 97/98. Cheers from Indonesia 🍻
There was moments where you could see Jesse forget about the crowd and lose himself in the song, and start smiling. I wish him all the best, there's an entire generation of people hoping to see this again, he's a legend among legends.
Fuck me this is awesome. What a legendary revival. I'm a 40 something dad, but I will never not listen to Energy end-to-end. Op Ivy was such an important part of my teenage years. And everyone saying Jesse looks nervous, but he warmed up fairly quickly and was spittin' those rapid fire lyrics as well as he did in '88. I really hope Jesse keeps doing little mini-reunions like this.
That and Blatz/Filth Shitsplit was always on heavy rotation with those three bands playing back to back in some order when at LEAST one of those records landed on the turntable. I too am in my 40's, pushing LATE 40's, like three years from 50! In the very early 90s, this was good. I was never a fan of Rancid tho. Talented with out a doubt but it just wasn't the type of music I was into. I think by the time Rancid put out their second LP, I was more into the Crust Punk scene at that time.
Jesse being human on stage. This was a reminder to me that the people who made these iconic pieces of history are sometimes nervous and self-critical just like the rest of us. Jesse killed it though. You can tell how much this meant to him. At the end of the day, road-worn musician or a man stepping back into the spotlight after so many years outside of it, punk rock will always be a community where everyone who gives a piece of themselves to it will be treated with equal respect. Makes me proud to be a punk. Op Ivy stands the test of time. As a teenage punk rock kid in 2009, even I had the Op Ovy logo painted on the back of a leather jacket. Timeless legends.
As someone in my mid 40's I'm always happy to see the people I was influenced by as a kid still alive and doing well. I loved Op Ivy starting back in the mid 90s and haven't seen Jesse since, so to see him perform was a real treat. Tim looked good too, I'm glad to have seen this.
Jesse you still sound completely awesome. I'm 42 now and have loved Op Ivy since I was 16. I still wear my op ivy shirt I got when I was a teenager. Your music has stayed important to me all these years and I think it's even more important today.
when i was a dumbass teenager i stole an op ivy cassette from a local chain music store... i just donated what i should have paid for it then. rock on!
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Tim Armstrong is my favorite artist/songwriter of all time and Rancid/OpIvy have been the soundtrack to my life since I was a child. 31 now and been listening since the 3rd grade. It pays to have older brothers & cousins who listen to great music lol
There needs to be an official Op Ivy reunion... And goddamn does Jesse sound GREAT !! Man he sounds just like he did when he was a kid. Energy is a timeless classic that will live on for generations to come...as long as us fans pass it on to our kids. My 5 yr old son loves this song... And his favorite is "Bad Town".... Op Ivy forever.
So jealous this is amazing 💛💛💛✨✨✨ Their lyrics were so special too, not just a good danceable punk/ska band. They were just kids when they wrote that way. I’d love to see them on tour. What an impression to make on the world for only being together 2 years
I started listening to operation ivy when I was 15 (1995) and I haven't stopped. I always listen to op ivy on the first sunny day of the spring. It's my yearly ritual.
Jesse you sound great! So wonderful to hear you again. I'm 38 and have been listening to op ivy since I was 16 and listen almost weekly. Thank you and good luck
You can see in Jesse's face at the start he is quite nervous but as he gets further through the song the memories of being on stage and how much fun he had came flooding back and he really got into it. I hope to see an Operation Ivy reunion.
Was contacted to do an interview with Jesse (Common Rider) on the take action tour 20 years ago. I wasn't prepared. Showed up to the venue and hung out on the patio talking and what he called Junkie Reggae.
I can imagine. He goes up and down. In the 90s he would just spin on stage and jump everywhere while Lars carried what he could. Then Tim would just play random parts it was so weird but I’ve been a fan my whole life seen them in every stage.
Holy crap I've wanted to see this moment happen since I was 15 years old! I'm 35 now and still rockin out to Operation Ivy, Rancid, The Interuppters, and anyone else with a sick ska beat!
I have been here on planet earth before today. I used to really love Julie Ivy, shared a house with her. Did some Transcendental Meditation with her too. But that USA TV show Punky Brewster & local Anne Brewster better known as Rooster in that Republican pictures movie True Grit & Bob Dylan also, when your rooster crows at the break of dawn look out you r window and I'll be gone almost stopped me being human. Been here on this planet before though. Tanks to RUclips and the band Operation Ivy!
Michaels still has that lively and raspy sound to his voice, after over 30 years. I never held my breath for a proper reunion but it's nice to see they haven't lost their touch.
Tim and Jesse have a new band!!! Doom Regulator - their single 'Raid' is on RUclips (it's reggae!). It looks like they were originally going to be called Bad Optix but it was too close to an existing band's name.
I was about 9 when my older sister introduced me to OpIvy. Now I’m 37 and still blast these guys everywhere I go. I even have the energy man tattooed on me for life. Keep rocking boys 🤙🏼
Jesse was SUPER nervous, but he still killed it!!! He sounds the same as he did on the record! But by the end, Jesse started bouncing around, the holy ghost got him! 😃
Growing up, Op IVY was a thing of the past, a Brief and Brilliant flash that was there and gone before everyone was able to enjoy it. Seeing this 20+ years later, is awesome
I'm 45 & I've put this song on every fucking mixtape (the OG DIY cassette mixtape) and every playlist since I was in 8th grade. Because it's just that awesome. 🖤🖤🖤
This was 100% classic, and brought back so many great memories too. Took me back to 1994, in middle school, when a friend at school let me borrow the 27 songs of pure gold, that made up that Operation Ivy CD. I had just discovered Rancid, with the release of Let's Go and its first single, Salvation, and I'll never forget him saying "you have got to check out Tim and Matt's earlier band!". Needless to say, I loved the whole CD, and went out that following weekend and purchased a copy for myself. Those songs changed my life, that CD changed my life, as did Rancid's music as well...I miss those times, and I miss those years as well. So crazy when I realize, that all was 28 years ago...where has the time gone to? Time flies, unfortunately...🤷
I'm 40 and have been waiting to see this since I was a teenager! Please tour Operation Ivy again! I bought an op ivy tshirt in LA a few years ago and still think its my coolest tshirt ever
Jesse That was Great same With you Lint (Tim) Reunion Show saw ya play with Leftover Crack and sang Sound system and Unity and Love it the play went crazy you have so much energy and Op Ivy is the Soundtrack of my Youth Thank you for this. But Operation Reunion Tour Come on just one go If not well ty for the inspirational music you have gave us.
I would not be able to contain myself, i know alot of opivy by heart and im only 29 xD, to be able to actually see a legendary let alone any legendary band play.... wouldve been amazing probably life changing. like any rancid show or one of the misfits reunion shows or something....
Hey Jesse, No disrespect to dudes comment below but I don’t think you looked nervous at all. Every last one of you spot on fucking nailed this song! No matter what shitty mood Im in I hear this song & it takes me back to the days of carefree & youth! Life before my dream crusher kids😂🤣😂I’m kidding I love my dream crushers more then life itself 🖤🥰😊🫶🤍
Oh, I am back again. Come to find an old friend was there…not as old as I am, he didn’t see it first time. Anyway this old dude is tearing up. Be back next month I am sure- thanks for this guys
Epic! An Op Ivy reunion would rule the world. And just for the record, my two year old has requested "Op Ivy" and "Wanna Stop a War" so much, I straight sewed an Op Ivy patch on his hoodie a couple months back. The boy grinned from ear to ear when I gave it to him.
Tim is aging gracefully, he has a lot in him still. Good to see him in good health and still active in the music scene whether its onstage or in the studio. Fan since HS days, from his early 90’s Rancid to Transplants, solo and later Tim Timebomb…. bound to find really great songs in each transition. The man is a legend! 🔥

Lokks like the mic was fkd up and he was agitated
I think it is because that he had some issues in his voice, i read it in a post some years ago
To be fair, I’ve only waited 25 years to see something like this.
Jesse played with Matt and Tim in 2006 in San Francisco
@@rsplatpc I was there to witness that 2006 magical moment

Me too
Tim looking and sounding really clear and healthy here, good for him!
Yea fuck yea Tim it's good to see u back bro 💯 💪
Doesn't make him less of a pedo
I probably would've fainted if I saw this live. I don't go to shows anymore but I'd see an OpIvy reunion in a heartbeat
I would’ve been pumped to have been there! Fuck! This is amazing
Same first thought after hearing this! And also probably the best audio quality available for this song. Lol.
💯
Nah, keep legends in the past so they can continue to be legendary
Hell yeah! I still go to shows, but I'd run to see operation ivy too!

Imagine how awesome this was for the interrupters. Getting to be on stage w two musicians than legit shaped their sound.
I know right that is a dream come true for them and a testament to how good they are
Yeah they've been around for a while keeping it alive
Kevin was a touring musician for Rancid and Transplants years before the Interrupters. That's how the latter got Tim's attention and mentoring.

Haha! Nice
Very nice lol
To all the OGs who were in Op Ivy and who loved them from back in the day, bless up! From Australia.
Jesse looks so nervous, and it’s cool to see him get really into it toward the end.
This wasn’t a perfect performance by any means, but it’s fun.
That’s what I thought. He cracked a smile and did his leap near the end. Nice to see him enjoy the moment!
Probably tough to get back into that frame of mind of back when they used to play back in the day after that many years.
I wonder if much of the blame just goes to the sound board.
It's punk, it's not about playing perfectly
Fuck perfection, we ain't about that shit. The beauty is in the humanity.
The love I have for Tim Armstrong, his bands Operation Ivy Rancid and Transplants, his solo songs is beyond words. Thank God for punk and ska💕🖤💯

He has lived a poet's life.
