If I may add another solution: Where the brake line enters the reservoir on the right side of the handler there is an elbow that the brake line fastens to. All you have to do is loosen the banjo bolt that holds the elbow to the reservoir. You only need to slightly loosen it. Twist downward on the elbow. This makes the hose move forward, clearing the view of the instrument cluster. Re-tighten the bolt and you are done. Takes less than a minute. I rode my CRF250L with this same solution for over 14000 miles and it never caused the hose to kink or any other problems. Not as elegant a solution as yours, but it does work.
Brilliant! I ordered the part you recommended, and fitted it in 10 minutes. Complete solution!! Problem completely sorted. Thanks so much for this Sir!
Hands down the BEST solution I've seen! Some people suggested to zip tie it to the handle bars... This is 100x better and wont tug at the line when your front suspension moves up/down
Amazing - thank you so much! Another fellow CRF300L user... installed so quickly, and took the bike out on the trails today. Works beautifully. I wish Honda had this installed stock from the factory
Feeling kind of dumb about not coming up with an idea like this myself. Couldn't find a standoff in town, so I just got a 30mil m6 bolt, a couple of washers, and a piece of hard line and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the idea!
A wonderful solution. I do see one potential problem. Guys that may ride tight trails with trees (enduro like trails on the east coast) may have a snag hazard with the hose standing so proud. Most likely won't affect very many people...
Good job. I'd have liked to see a part of the video where you bounce the front suspension and demonstrate that it still travels freely. I take it that it does, as you seem knowledgeable.
Excellent idea. Thanks for that. I was considering zip tying it to the handlebar, but don't really like that idea. That being in the way really bugs the hell out of me.
I agree that’s why I bought the Kawasaki instead of the Honda. It made Ms think Honda engineering has gone way down hill. If something is that bad that I can see why wouldn’t there be things I can’t see. Goneda
A bit late to the party here & own a 2017 CFR250L. Funny it had the same issue but I found after riding it for some time.... break in.... magically all of a sudden the brake line no longer obscured my view of the instrument panel... No fix required, just put some miles on it, preferably on terrain that works the front suspension.... ;)
I really like this method! Great idea, Thanks! I have actually used a heat gun to soften up the vinyl shroud of the brake line where it travels through the guide. I put a gentle bend over the length and it actually holds its shape keeping it out of the way. But, I think I will still adopt your method☺️🇨🇦
Thanks, I tried your “gentle bend” using a heat gun…….Worked perfectly. Iam still going to add the spacer that Moto Noob USA to make a good thing better. Big thanks to you both. Big problem that EVERY owner of CRF300L has. Thanks for the solution.
Just be aware that brass really doesn’t like aluminium alloy, and that it would be a much better solution to use a zinc plated steel or aluminium alloy spacer bolt than that brass one.
I installed the same, but again I can't see the upper display, now I took the M6 22mm, I guess it will be a little better, only the cable fishes in the blinker.
Thanks for the idea. Looks like a god fix. Parts ordered. I have a 2021 CRF300L. No ABS. I have only 1 brake line. I see yours has 2. Is this because yours has ABS? Thanks again. Good video. 🙏👍🏻
@@themotonoobusa9710 Thank you. Again I appreciate your direction. I’m looking forward to the fix. It is indeed annoying to have the hose in way of the screen.
Thank you, and thanks for watching! And to answer your question, no, stacking two wont work. I actually wrote this in the description: WARNING: do not exceed 20mm length as it will force the brake line to rub on the turn signal bracket. 20mm is just right and provides about 1/8 gap between the brake line and the bracket.
Meh...I bought and installed the hardware, and it made a little bit of difference, nothing like in this video though. No matter how much I tighten it I can still move the plastic "ring" up and down. I have 2023 and my brake line seems much shorter.
@@themotonoobusa9710 yes, I watched the video as I did it. Mine also touched turn signal bracket so I put some electrical tape in a couple places and will keep an eye on it
Brilliant ideea !!! Bravo from Romania !!! I will for sure do it to my bike as well, although I have a self made fairing (you can check it out on my channel) and I don't know if it will obstruct my zumoxt, but I will try. Thank you
@@themotonoobusa9710 I changed my bars to Pro Taper Contour High Bend and did your mod. It is longer in my way of speedo view, I did notice when I stand on pegs on pull back on bars the front brakes make noise (bottoming out?). It does not seem to be a big deal .....I think. Your thoughts? On the throttle side I have no throttle free play anymore and can't get any more slack on cables(due to higher bars). Everything works fine but I know its recommended you have 2-3mm of free play. I really don't want to switch the cables to longer as everything seems good but Im curious if you have any thoughts? Appreciate your help and great tip on this brake line fix.
Hey Jon, regarding the brake noise it is likely the spot where the soft lines meet the rigid tube that travels down the forks on the left side clicking on the guide hoop which is no big deal. Mine did that before the mod. And the throttle, if it works good than I wouldn't sweat it.
The first thing I ask myself before changing anything is “ why did Honda do it like that?” They have some of the best engineers. Currently the hose slides pretty freely within the guide. When spacing it out the hose is going to rub one side a lot harder causing wear.
Tried this solution but did not work for me. When using a 20mm stand-off the brake line starts to make hard contact with the turn indicator bracket. Over time the line protection would wear. 10mm works but is not worth it (in my opinion).
It's supposed to be that long because it actually travels with the suspension. Any shorter or zip-tied the bars, and could literally rip it out of the caliper.
I don't think that anybody is staring at the dash, but for me when I do glance down to check my speed I don't want to have to bob my head around to get a good look.
They sure act like it. If your not looking in front of you 99% of the time you will be a organ donor. Off road or on. On your part nice work. It doesn't bother me at all the cable. Now let's talk about the suspension or lack off it. 👍
I installed k -tech front and rear. Now you can grip it and RIP it, launch like a missile and front doesn't bottom out at all yet, back shock doesnt launch you off the pegs on it's rebound. Again nice idea for some. I ride mainly single track and I really like my 2021 crf 300L base model.
@@michaelcrosby6071 I've only been riding for a little over a year and even with that I don't have much time in the saddle. There are a lot of people that don't have a problem with the cable but it seems mostly the ones with the ABS like mine.

I used a spacer and a longer bolt.
Excellent simple solution that doesn't compromise the line.
Pure genius!! Can’t thank you enough. I ended up finding a fatter one in steel on Amazon and didn’t need the washer.
Got a link to that?

I just did this today on my 300L
Thanx for the great solution
My pleasure!
Great simple engineering solution, thanks! The break line is distracting to the point it’s a hazard.
Didn't have this problem with my 2014 CRF250M supermoto, but with the CRF300L I just bought.
Will track down those parts.

Nice video. You'd think honda could have factory fitted this so riders could see the instrument cluster properly
I think so too
Unbelievable the factory would ship these bikes without taking care of an obvious problem.

How come it cant just be zip tied out of the way. Just a tick? I was going to but i wasnt sure it that was a good idea
Good question! Because the brake line needs to move freely as the front suspension moves (especially with the ABS model)
@themotonoobusa9710 thank you! That's the one I have to, glad I didn't do that now
On my 250L, I tucked it between the speedo and headlight shroud. Now on 7k miles and no issues still.

To accommodate the front suspension being fully extended. Like if you do a wheelie or a jump.

Why is it so long in the first place
If you are referring ti the brake line, it is so it doesn't bottom out when the forks are fully extended like in a jump or wheely.

Strange!? Mine has plenty of clearance, it never touches the indicator bracket. Sorry it didn't work for you and I agree 10mm wouldn't be worth it.
Wrapping some electrical tape or similar product over both the cable and signal bracket would work as a sacrificial barrier and easily replaced.
I had the same problem. Guessing yours is the LED version like mine, there's a metal bracket close to the cable.

great work…paint it black and it would be appear to be factory

Great solution. Still there has to be a way to reroute that entirely. That’s some silly engineering having it run over the top of everything.
Love it

So we both found a solution.
