  • Well after spending a few months with the CRF300L and talking about how great it is, it's finally time to share some things that aren't so good about this little red dual sport. Don't get me wrong I still love the bike but everything has their pros and cons, in today's video we focus on the negative and go over the top 5 things I HATE about the 300L.
From the ergonomics, to the frame design, you may be surprised as to what rubs me wrong with this motorcycle but I think most of you riders will agree with my points. Feel free to leave a comment down below and let me know if I am missing anything!

The CRF 300L seems like an extremely good platform to grow with if you're a beginner. Rather than paying for features you won't be taking advantage of out of the box, you can upgrade it as you upgrade your riding ability.

The whole video was pretty much why isn't the 300l a 450 lol if he wants to ride aggressive and is tall buying an entry-level 300 with a low seat hight is questionable to say the least.

It’s not just for beginners but it’s a practical dual-sport bike that can be enjoyed by seasoned riders for leisure & commuting. I’ve been riding for years & traded in my 600 for a 300. Probably going to transition to a CRF300L or 390 Adventure.

This happens when you wanted to buy an agressive moto cross bike but mum said "no".
The CRF300L is a dual sports bike, so if you are looking for a KTM EXC, you should buy one. Don't blame the bike for choosing the wrong one.

Here's what I've learned from many of the youtube motorcycle review channels that I've ever seen. 1) You must by the latest model motorcycle. 2) You must discover that it has underlying flaws. 3) You must cure those flaws on you brand new motorcycle by purchasing at least $1.000.00 worth of replacement parts. (for your brand new motorcycle) 4) Those replacement parts that you spent so much money on will TOTALLY transform your brand new motorcycle. And that's because modern motorcycle designers are either stupid or unable to overcome government regulations, and you are well justified in spending all that money on brand-new aftermarket doo-dads to replace those brand-new factory installed doo-dads that were so useless. (this is the very reason I stopped buying motorcycle magazines 16 years ago) And here's what I learned from my real-life experience: take your custom, performance-enhanced bike to your favorite track or riding grounds and inevitably you will be SMOKED by someone who spent their time learning to actually ride hard and fast. And they'll do it with a bike that is nowhere near as "special" as yours. There are better ways to waste your money. Nevertheless, I do appreciate the fact that we still have a choice.

Not really, Some bikes it’s just essential to put more parts on it to make it a perfect bike. The OEMS Aren’t going to add stuff like skid plates since that will raise the price while some people won’t use it. You need to fine tune the bike for what riding you do.

    • @doylegaines1319
      @doylegaines1319 2 года назад +3

@@bikez7641 No. You don't "need" to fine-tune your bike, you "want" to fine-tune your bike. And that's okay be me - it's your bike, your money and your choice. And one more thing I can say with certainty, it will never be "perfect". It may be better or it may be worse, but it will never be perfect. Perhaps we can agree that it could be "perfect" for you.

After lots of consideration I ended up going with a KLX300. Thanks for affirming lol. Suspension, frame, gearing, and other minor gripes tipped the scale for me, for my uses at least (ADV and single track). A downside of KLX300 is the availability of aftermarket parts. Yes it is mostly similar to the KX250 but things like a larger tank aren't possible yet. Only a 2.7 gallon tank is available, .7 increase for a few hundred. It seems like generally companies are quick to make AM parts for Hondas, probably a bigger market.

Ultra reliable engine 60,000mls or 100,000km now on my old 2014 CRF250L.
I bought it cheap a few years back with a massive 68,000km but well kept with regular oil changes. Its never had the engine openned and it runs like new and not using oil. Power is all stock excluding FMF4.1 pipe with a Db killer inside so it has more power than stock but its less noisy. Without the Db its even more power and instant crack on power but loud when openning it up.
With hard off road abuse and potholes I also cracked my rear frame off at the same place in the photos, it was from a heavy rear rack/box full of tools, tubes, air pump, first aid kit, water etc.
I welded steel strengthening plates to the inside and its fine now.
Agreed ... the stock honda rear tail light / indicators / fender setup is ridiculously heavy and unnecessay.

What i really really would really like is a lockeble toolbox at the front of the skidplate. Keeping the weight as low as possible. Because it is a lighter bike you are instand feeling the weight of what you put on the bike. With all my heavier bikes like the 1190R this is different. But now the weight of my luggage becomes quicly to a point where it takes the fun of riding away.
Do you guys have this feeling also ? And how much kg of luggage do you all

If you frequently maneuver to redirect the bike by locking up the rear wheel off-road, then the NonABS model is the perfect option. But if you use it for dual sporting, then the ABS model can be a life saving, especially on the road. You can, however, disable the ABS if you trully fancy for off-road use by getting rid of the fuses and fixing of the wires. Cheers!

The overall ergonomics is way better too with the tank and seat section that is narrower, hence the bike easier to maneuver. In the end, you may want to change the handle bar and the suspension springs (cheaper option) for a little more agressive riding. I think the 700I would be a better fit for your use because I believe it dose better on road navigation and has a bigger screen then the 66I and they also double as a satellite communicator with an SOS button in case you were to get hurt well riding in a area with out cell service and it can automatically send out a tracking point every 10 minutes so your family and friends know where you are and how your trip is going. Also it seems like all of Honda’s bikes come with suspension that is way too soft

Quadlock also has a damper set up you can buy so the mount doesn't destroy the optical image stabilization in your phone's camera. It just stacks with the regular mount. I have that along with the Quadlock USB charger setup on my Z900RS. All three stacked together makes it a bit bulky, but clean. I think it's the best current phone mounting system available.

I enduro a 250M. The suspension works fine for me. The part numbers are different to the L so im guessing the spring rates are harder. I just did my 3rd set of seals in 6 years and now the crank is coming out as i think its getting itchy to do an alien on me.

I called Honda Powersports Chattanooga TN 9/28/2001 looking for the 2021 CRF300L Rally. Was told two to three months wait. They called next day and delivered it to me 9/30/2021. I saved $1700 over another dealer in GA. No dealer fees, no delivery fees. MSRP and $30 administrative fee only. I called 10 other dealers and no one had one of these in stock and did not know when they would get one. My salesman was Gus and very pleased with this purchase/service by dealer.

I was wondering the same. I’m 6’2” and 230lbs. But I ride a Ninja 400 with stock suspension setup and no issues so I guess it will depend on how hard you intend to ride off road. I will mostly be on seasonal roads and two track roads with occasional single track trails. I’m in Michigan so we don’t have anything too crazy to begin with. lol.

The KLX300 seems like a better choice. The stock suspension is moderately better, a bit lighter and a bolt on subframe. The important part though is that it is the KLX250 in most regards and accepts its accessories/upgrades.

I have never had much issues running different apps offroad like Google maps or on x hunt. I can see who owns what property as well with on x. Just save an offline map on either. There are other apps as well you can do the same with. I try to avoid apps that kill battery life like polaris ride command even if i can plug in. Also use an extended sae chord for all your bikes with a usb adapter. Can use for phone, gps, camera, even a small power inverter and run off your battery. Can also run it on bikes with no battery.

I sold mine like a month after I bought it and went with a wr250r, the biggest thing I found was the twitchy throttle which isn’t a problem on the wr, and along with some other things that just made the bike feel cheap, the seat on mine wouldn’t sit properly and the the washer wouldn’t sit flush so the seat would just move around, much more happier with the wr250r but maybe if I gave it a shot I would like it more but the quality assurance on mine was terrible, plus having the fully adjustable suspension is amazing.

Have to add a note about mounting your phone to the handlebars. I have damaged two iphones by mounting them to the handlebars and hit the trails. Its okay for the street, but not good for offroad. There are some shock absorbing products you can purchase, but I went with mounting my phone to my tank bag with a window to avoid damage.
