The Ultimate CRF300L Handlebar Setup!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 авг 2021
- Ever since purchasing my brand new CRF300L I have been wanting to upgrade the handlebar setup. The stock bars are way too short and have a terrible bend. This is a mod that can completely transform the look and feel of a motorcycle and in today's video we make it happen. Using all of the parts that Rocky Mountain sent out, we take this boring, mediocre cockpit and turn it into a highly capable, off-road battle station.
After the install we take it for a rip so be sure to stick around!

At the end of the day, it all comes down to whatever works for you. Love the integrated signal lights...
...looks awesome...
Dude, I bought my 300 about 2 weeks ago. I'm literally copying your setup, part for part. I love it.
You will definitely love the Double Take mirrors! I like the Adventure ones best for the larger viewing area.
Looks so clean now, glad you found what works for you. Side not, those zeta mounts are awesome, gonna have to cop myself a pair. Cheers!
Looking sharp Tanner! Also love these videos of you wrenching in the garage!
Looking forward to the rest of the upgrades.
Will be getting this bike, awesome video, thanks for taking the time to share!
Great content man! love the blinker elimination, cant wait to see the tail cleaned up aswell
I had never seen mounts like those Zetas. It really does keep the bars looking cleaner.
Amazing how bars change the whole look
Love to see the braided hose upgrade . great channel keep it up!
6'2" here! first mod on mine for sure...if i ever get it lol
Exact same here. 6’2” and haven’t done anything with mine yet. But this and tires about to happen. Hope you get yours soon.
Im 6’3… y’all are short. Haha jk but I’m hoping to get a CRF300l this summer too
@@DLayman3315did you ever get it?
@@thewhitevanman6251 no lol I scared myself with the possibility of getting injured
Looks and must ride fantastic I've just brought one of these on a 2023 looking fwd to fit sum upgraded parts to mine good video pal cheers and happy days and safe riding enjoy fella regards Terry 😊😊😊
Another great video, thanks for the walk through on the install. I have the 300L as well and would love to get new bars, I’m not tall by any means, 5’8, so not sure what to choose honestly, just don’t care for the factory bars. Thanks again!!
That setup looks pretty dope on there!
Thanks for the vid. I finally got my 300l Friday evening. After only 50 miles I realized these factory bars were shit lol. Like you said to low. Grips are super hard and plastic feeling. I like a nice soft grip. This will be my winter project.
I've been using those same Zeta mounts myself. They've taken a pounding and keep the guards right where they ought to be.
Good day. What is the zeta mount model. I did not seen the link. Regards
I'm diggin' the corporate mullet, dude. 🤘😎🏴☠️
Man, thank you so very much for this video, its exactly what I was looking for. you`ve got a new sucscriber, and yes, it looks absolutley fantastic. 2 thumbs up!
Great video. Woodsman Adventure has a good video to fix the brake line issue
Itchy Boots is riding a CRF 300 Rally through East Africa at the moment. Was browsing for light dual sport reviews. She kept popping up in the recomms. Now I am here.
Quad lock has a vibration dampener you can install with their phone mount. It works great. Thanks for the video!
I will definitely do that set up when I get a CRF300L.
I did this exactly setup after seeing your vid. Feels great!!!
Great to hear!
i added the zeta hand guards which are similar to the tusk with integrated signals and used the 12oclock labs running light adapter so i could use them as running lights. i also added a fixed rate flasher so the leds in the hand guards wouldn't hyperflash. for the rear i added the 12oclock labs integrated rear tail light. works great and removed the ugly stock signals front and back.
I'm loving how its starting to look. Needs a skid plate added as well
great footage and editing!
I like the Touratech Folding Mirrors. They fold out of the way when you hit the Trails.
That looks so much better!
They look great and along with the riser are really essential for any upright riding on the 300. The mounts are better than the ones I chose which mount to the bar itself and tend to interfere with the cables on both sides. Well time to finish my coffee and take my Rally out to the woods and see how much better the Motoz RallZ tires are than the stock rubber. Cheers !
I just put the pro taper evo high bars on my 300. Had to reroute everything, but love the way it came out.
Great build! I stayed till the end and I'll do it again... Ride on bro. Peace!
Great video on the these bars. Thanks. Garmin Zumo XT has been great for me. Weak cell reception where I ride so a gps is needed. Also thanks for the alternative Zeta mounts, I've been interested in seeing them in use.
One thing I would like to see if you have the video of before and after difference in both bars. You did get a good look at the new bar from the seat looking forward. 73, Mike
I use an older phone and Hotspot to my current phone in my bag.
With that being said, the trail tech voyager is so awesome.
I love the handle bar set up you created. Strong clean potentially good for those extra's. I will be fitting Oxford heated grips and my spare mount I have for my Tomtom I use on the AT. I reckon the bike would take a bigger hit with the top of the forks making more of a triangle with the handguards. Because of that the bars don't whip as much and absorb the vibration which concerns me with a throttle hand that's been wrecked once two often. Haven't made my mind up on that yet. I got the Rally 300 to go where the challenge is beyond the AT. Love your vids. its 18 months since you made this vid but no worries, I've been waiting for my 3hundy since January and its just arrived. It's going to be one heluva remote moto bike, "yeeha", bring it on. Pity they don't have the ktm style oil air filter system. I do rivers over here in NZ and water and paper don't mix. There are some good ideas out there for enlarging the snorkel and having oiled prefilter, am working on it. I'm starting to ramble, Keep the good work up my friend.
this video has convinced me to take my stuff to a professional. I do not have those tools or knowledge. I'm coming up on my service interval
Great video , good information for sure, thanks , seems like a nice setup .
Your open on the 250l handlebar video was classic.
haha thanks man glad you remember that!
The bars are usually one of the first things I changed, mostly used some sort of CR bend Renthal’s and then added some sort of full wrap hand guard’s. I always wanted to try the Flexbar’s to see if it would help with my Rhymitoid arthritis though.👍🏁
Great work!
100% agree with the Bars ! CR High/KX High/Windham is the way to go if you are a tall person....
for the GPS i would go with a Cheaper Phone, the possibilitys are great/more usefull compared to a garmin or whatever
have you found already the Auxiliary power plug behind the Light ? its switched on/off with the ignition and you can charge your phone or whatever... its fused with 10amp
It would be cool to see a shot of you on the bike and how it looks with the new set-up. CR High, got it.
Yo, get the Quadlock system with the vibration dampener. My phone's camera broke twice before buying the vibration dampener from Quadlock. Using the dampener for 4 months everyday and the phone never had a problem again!
I’ve been running a Quadlock with the vibration dampener since March and after ~6000 miles I’ve had no problems with my phones camera. The only problem I’ve had is sometimes the GPS on my phone gets a little iffy so I’m definitely considering the Garmin Zumo for my 250 Rally.
Man once you get the GPS / usb outlet setup, this thing will be good to go! I can attest to Ram mounts ruining your camera. I used my iPhone X in a ram mount on my CRF250L and now the camera cant focus and has a warped effect. Something to note with these mounts!
I recommend Garmin Montana. easy to use. Small(er) footprint and cheap (used) only about $200. I love mine. Thanks for the video.
Looks great!
Just finding your channel. Good stuff! I'm looking to get back into the off road sport and the CRF300L is looking good. I have HUGE issue with the crap suspension, when the Kawasaki KLX300 is out there. I have need seen the 2022 CRF300L, but hoping HONDA steps up the suspension and raises the price slightly. If so, she will be about perfect for a starter dual sport.
RM ATV FTW!
Beautiful setup my friend👍 it’s coming along nicely! Exhaust coming soon?
Chub...my brother's nickname since about 50yrs ago!
I really like the handle bar setup. I feel I want about the same thing. Wasn't sure everything would reach on high bars, I'm getting a 300l soon...
I want to know whatever I can so I don't waste time & money. Thanks man
Great motorcycle bro
Super clean man. Def going to consider this setup, Even tho im a shorter rider haha
Wow! That looks really great! Try tinkering with the sprockets next..I dropped down to a 13t and love it.
i have a 13t front sprocket on the 300l and its much better off road. after adding the 13t sprocket speedometer was reading 10% higher than actual. added a speedometer calibrator to correct.
@@2012theravenIt is better in the dirt but also allowed me to lope along in 6th at 45-50 mph. Before that 6th was to high for my around town usage.
Looks great 👍
Ive found that the emig pro lock on grips are the perfect grip to run if your going to run barkbusters. since there solid and they have a end knockout in the throttle tube and the other grip it gives you the cleanest finish resultI I've ever seen.
Right on!
😀looking forward to this
Awesome, I am looking at a dual sport. The Honda is at the top of my list.
Good choice!
Looks nice man
Thank you brotha!
Did you drill your bars or grind off the raised section in the instrument clusters? Keep up the good content 👍🏼
I was wondering the same thing
I drilled my Renthal, grinding off and using tape will slip I figure
Want to see the ride with the new bars and your comments on how they handle
Suspension - like rear shock and fork springs. Looks like YSS and/or some others goin to get one and waiting for it to come in.
I second the quad lock with the vibration dampener I run that on my ktm 890 and have had no issues. In 4000 miles I’ve running cameras before with a ram mount just spend the money on the quad lock and use your good phone. I know for a fact 100+mph down gravel and my phone works flawlessly
I wish RM atv would update the dropdowns to show the 2024 crf300L.
Looks good..👍
I didn’t think that bike was that easy to wheelie. You made it look easy
It's all in the clutch!
Hey man! I've been watching your videos and it's giving me motivation to invest into a dirt bike! They look fun! I do have a question, hoping you could give some insight. I don't have many dirt roads/paths around me so my purposes for a dirt bike would be for commuting with possibility of getting it onto dirt over the weekends. Are there a few bikes you can recommend? Thanks!
I'd love to see the Trail Tech GPS setup with it replacing the factory gauge cluster. I've seen it done many times on KTMs and Betas but never on a Japanese dual sport. I've been wanting to try that setup on my 250L
I got a 250L also I've been thinking about it as well
Try Kyocera mil spec phone for navigation. Quad lock vibration mount with induction charger is a good option I think.
I put the 1 1/8” Chub bars on my CRF250l and like them, except for the hardware on the bar clamps. One rain and the bolts are rusting! I’m going to have to find some stainless replacements…
The set up looks great! Are the stock rims D.I.D. ?
For GPS, I use an old S8 without a sim card. GPS works fine. You just need to down load the offline maps.
Very good sir
Great video. 👍
Do u know the difference in height and pull back from stock handle bar?
Try a small android tablet with GPS and just download any map app that lets you storage map data local. Works for the AJP PTR 7. I really love that bar setup I will probably mirror it on my rally.
"Thin rubber might be good for some things"
Brooo 😂
sweet set up does the thicker bar still work with the stock throttle tube just thicker in the clamp area right then thins out
Finally lol. Let us know the lighting/signal setup as well. Seen lots of rear signal plastic busting with large holes. Seems to be a weak point on the bike
Once you grab those DSports you won't go back. They hook up way better than they should even in paved twisties. 🤙🏽
Sweet setup.
What’s the torque on the 300 forks (zeta handguard mounts)?
Thanks.
Love the setup! Im 5'10"...would this bar setup be too tall for me? Also, which bar mounts did you use? The Tusk universal mounts i see online are silver😕
Great videos!
Btw, witch brand of frame protectors. Can’t find them for the 300l ..??
Using an Android phone with OSMAND as your GPS, you won't need cell service. You can download all of the map data over WIFI. It won't have live traffic data or routing info though but the OSM map is pretty great in most areas.
My mistake, you ground it off with a dremmal but aftermarket grips are shorter then the OEM and can be seen when installing aftermarket grips
Get Older phone , load Gaia GPS APP for off line maps via wi fi, no phone/data plan required. Works great and cheap. Garmin over rated.
Good video content. Cheers
Lovely bike..looks awesome..just need to tidy up or shorten that front brake line...that's the only thing that would bug me dude! Hey from 🏴
What did you use for risers? I'm also trying to run Chubbs and even without risers, I can't get enough slack on the clutch cable, throttle cable and that darn brake line. I'm 6'3" and still need another inch at least. Thoughts?
Adding tusk handguards n changing levers right now on my 2022 300l rally...thought i saw you riding in columbus couple weeks ago pulled up next to you on mine honked n waived but you pulled into gas station n i continued to my friends track, was trying to tell you follow me! Thought about the chubby bar or the renthal green one but dont think i can drill the holes right rhe first or second time..is rhat what you did or did you grind off those tabs in the controls?
there was no where to enter the affiliate coupon code during my check out. I enjoy your videos and had hope to support you that way. You should renegotiate with rocky mountain.
Did you have to drill a little holes in your bar to fit your Celebrator and blinkers
Did you have to drill holes on the bar for the controls? Or you did you flatten the small bumps on the controls?
I would like to ask a question what did you do for the lil hole one the bars for the lil switch!??
Don’t worry Tanner I haven’t forgotten about sending the mirrors I just need to find were I put them 😩
No worries Paul!
Being that you swapped forks on this bike you would probably know. Can you run the front brake set up from the Rally on the base model?
@Adventure Daily
Is it possible to rotate/adjust the handlebar when you installed these ZETA mounting points? Having the hand-guards installed to the handlebar from one side and to the triple clamps on the another side - is it still possible to rotate (adjust forward/back) the handlebar without having to bend the hand-guards aluminium core?
Hey which Cam adapter do I use for those grips? I am brand new to riding, and a little unfamiliar with throttle body installs. @adventuredaily
Did you ever get around to installing the accessory plug? I have a dual usb with voltage display one but the directions were written by a 5 year old chinese kid. I would have went to cutting wires but you said something about a wiring harness.
If you had to pick 1 modern dual sport bike and that’s all you had what would it be? I have owned a CRF450L, XR650L, XT250 and ridden several more. But I’m currently doing all my riding on a Grom and Monkey. Going to keep those but I’m looking for a do it all bike. Don’t need to to be perfect at any particular thing. Just want it to do everything decently enough. Would that be the CRF300L?
Is there any drilling of holes required when installing new handlebars?
