    Magical clutch replacement. I see now its much more of a product review than clutch replacement instruction.

      Liked this vid. I have a 03 Jetta with BDF engine and 6 sp manual. I'm pretty sure my clutch is slipping. besides that, Would you know what would possibly cause the car to die at 1/2 and 1/4 tank of gas? Like since i changed the fuel pump and battery cables, the car just dies and i will have to turn ignition off then on a few times just to get it to clear, while driving in traffic. (kinda feels like vapor lock).

    4:00 i have a 06 mk5 jetta tdi BRM 5M. I have not found online the bearing and seal for the shifter tower, but some people said i should get the mk4 BEW kit, wich i did, but havent tried to install it yet, since i need to know for sure if it will fit... cause if i go in there and take the old one out, i will destroy it for sure, and if the mk4 doesnt fit my mk5 i will be stuck on the lift.. Do you have an input on that?

  • @V10PDTDI
    @V10PDTDI  9 лет назад

    It's probably overkill for a stock engine output but if you have a application that have more power and torque than stock it is the perfect kit it feels just like a stock clutch I know I have driven some Japanese cars with modified clutches and they never feel right I don't know if it's the brand of clutch kit or just the way that they are with non stock clutches.

  • @semecristian

    Did you use special press for rear main seal ? I have mk5 BRM , have a whinning noise when i get off the line, so my throut bearing is gone soone, clutch doesnt slip, but i need to change it. I have Malone stage 2 tune also... Was debating either go with Valeo SMF kit, or Southbend daily ( double more expensive). Howcome you didnt replace the fork ?

    • @V10PDTDI
      @V10PDTDI  6 лет назад +1

      semecristian Hi on this car it has the BEW engine so it has a normal seal so it doesn’t need a special tool just the plastic tool to help protect and install the seal on the crankshaft but on the BRM it’s a different story you need the special press/alignment tool because the engine speed sensor needs the seal to be at the correct place or else the engine won’t start. And about the fork I just replaced it because I did not want to have a failure later on and if you have only a tune I think the Valeo or a Sachs single mass kit should be enough.

    fitting a single mass flywheel will shorten the life of gearbox and also make the car vibrate like crazy when starting or switching off the car

    • @V10PDTDI
      @V10PDTDI  8 лет назад

      I have never seen any early failure doing this and as an example the first generation TDI cars had a single mass flywheel with a very close in design transmission.

    • @evansmarts775
      @evansmarts775 8 лет назад

      +V10PDTDI agree with what you saying but the reason they have dual mass not single is cause its not the same as first generation, either way as a mechanic I wouldn't fix those flywheels on customers car been fixing clutches and flywheel's for very long time now.

  • @ArnoldvanKampen
    @ArnoldvanKampen 4 года назад

    I used a single mass flywheel where there should be a double mass some years ago.
    It was on a Golf VI TDI 1.9 diesel
    It was a bad choice and it really really really had to be removed again.

    • @thresholdose336

    How reliable are the BEW ENGINE?

    • @V10PDTDI
      @V10PDTDI  6 лет назад +1

      Alan Ramirez thé BEW engine is pretty good not as good as a ALH but also better than the BRM engine the most important thing for PD engines is to use the proper oil specifications this is because of the cam and lifter wear but the BEW engine is better than the BRM engine on this point I don’t know if they had cheaper cams and lifters or not the EGR system has issues sometimes on the BRM engine the EGR cooler leaks exhaust on the bypass valve the pivot wear and this lets gases leak and then the EGR valve sometimes stick partially open then the engine doesn’t run good and the BRM has problems with broken wires in the engine harness close from the oil filter housings.

    I just bought an 05 Jetta TDI from a salvage yard. In neutral it has a rattle in the transmission, when I step on the clutch it goes away. Could they have installed a single mass flywheel in the past or could this be a sign of a bad dual mass flywheel ?

      @V10PDTDI  7 лет назад

      Matheus do Golf GTI Yes it's normal to hear a rattle at idle when the car is idling in neutral with the clutch not press in but when you press the clutch to the floor then the noise should go away this is normal too.

    Had a Southend pressure plate fail on me, don't have much trust in this brand despite putting the same replacement in. It was never the same though, significantly harder shifting than with the dual mass...

      the one i put in has a super soft pedal and great feel. but i did have issues with south bend with my 7.3L ford zf6 clutch.

    • @HugeVictor
      @HugeVictor Год назад

      @@dsruddell The clutch feel was ok (unchanged actually), it was the increased weight of the friction disc that made getting into gear harder. I attribute my first gear synchro exploding as a result of this extra strain but I can't say for sure that was the cause.

    • @V10PDTDI
      @V10PDTDI  4 года назад +1

      mr stas no only if the clutch is slipping because of wear of you tune the engine for more power and torque or the duall mass flywheel is vibrating otherwise it should be good for more km’s than what you have now I have a customer that drove his clutch for 600 000 km but it wasn’t slipping it was that the flywheel vibrated for so long that the clutch fork and pivot ball was worn thru the clutch fork .

    What can I do to identify whether I have SMF or DMF clutch before removing transmission? Got new transmission about 14 years ago and new clutch. Not sure what is in there. This video ( ruclips.net/video/lR0YKFeiH6A/видео.html ) shows a DMF failing...my car here ( ruclips.net/video/PWqe8kv62a0/видео.html ) sounds the same...Based on a pic ( www.dropbox.com/s/14gp68x7rp4bamd/Photo%20Feb%2008%2C%204%2039%2015%20PM.jpg?dl=0) I shared on the TDI forum, one guy said I have a SMF. So my questions are: would a SMF sound the same as the failing DMF? If i do have a DMF, and I want to upgrade to the SBC Stage 2 Endurance clutch, will I need some sort of conversion kit, or does it already come with it? Lots to think about but I want to get all the work done in one shot and not have to wait for parts once transmission is down. Thanks for your info!!

    Where can i get clutch kit

    • @V10PDTDI
      @V10PDTDI  3 года назад

      If you are looking for a OE type clutch kit then they are not hard to find but if you want a kit similar to what is in the video they look on south bend ‘s web site we rarely order this type of clutch because theses cars are getting quite rare were I work. And the car has to have some power upgrades in orders to justify this clutch.
