That's a great video, you can see how much labour is involved and why a main dealer charges so much. And you did it all with a smile and a few laughs, great!
Nice job.I really enjoy your vid's.Nice and clean action and no time loosing with bla-blai I hope you continue upload these nice informative videos. All good.
Ronnie Coleman my clutch is very very firm is this a sign of a bad clutch, because my friend has the same polo as me and his clutch pressing it down is effortless
Superb tutorial. The actual clutch replacement seems to be a really simple job, but getting to it seems to be where all the time and skill is. Thanks very much for putting all that together. It is much appreciated.
Hi guys. Ive done this 3 times now as wrong clutch was fitted. Easy way to remove and fit gearbox is with engine hoist. Took me about 4 and a half hour's start to finish. Great video's by the way
had a look at your vid before doing my clutch today on my 03 Bora..same job....I have a ramp and garage facilities and it was still a job..respect for you doing it on the floor,,,,please note there's two clutches on these, an LUK and Sachs unit..if you are not changing the flywheel like in the vid, you need to know which unit you require but obviously if you get a full kit including the flywheel, you'll be ok..the box is very heavy, do not attempt yourself without a gearbox jack..good luck
Great video! Have been looking everywhere for step by step instructions to change my clutch slave cylinder on my 2007 Jetta GLI Fahrenheit. Thanks so much for the time you took to make this video. Will be tearing mine apart as soon as my clutch kit comes in.
I am surprised by how clean th surface of the flywheel was. It is clean without burn marks. I wish mine looked like yours! Nice job! I am fitting my new clutch today. Car has been in pieces for some days...
nice vid, enjoyable to watch. Not sure I will be trying it on my 1.9 tdi, it seems quite involved ha. its a step above anything I have done with cars before. but thanks none the less
im planning on getting a 2000 golf tdi going to do a garrett turbo stage 2 or 3 clutch and intake coils body kit rims all the sorts this will really help in the futer
Nice job.I really enjoy your vid's.Nice and clean action and no time loosing with bla-blai I hope you continue upload these nice informative videos. All good.
Top video man! been waiting for this for so long. Any ideas why my rear suspension/brakes creak when I lower my car once I have had it raised with a jack?
I'm not sure if you know but should your tutorial work the same with a beetle. Some things looked a bit different looking in the engine but they still looked pretty similar (the car you worked on and my VW Beetle) because I thought you showed ow to replace this clutch really well and I want to use it if it will be useful for my car. The year of the car I have is a 1998.
Great set of videos, you have a natural talent for this. I think Discovery Channel should get you to make a series of DIY films! ... I wish you had a MK5 R32 though :-).
Great video!! I'm working on a project with jetta engine. Replacing the old clutch system, I want to know what's the size of the bolt that is used to fit the pressure plate onto the flywheel. It would be great if you can help out
You don’t need proper lifts, I did this today for mine, all I used was axle stands to hold car up then jack to hold engine, then wiggled transmission out, it was a bitch job but I did it on my own outside my house
@@jm4gaming886 and I give you props for doing that...after rebuilding my entire front end...I don’t have it in me to take this on...it definitely is fulfilling to pull it off...I just don’t see it in my future 😁
and you teaching your son how to work on cars, Dad's of the year to you, here in USA most of kids are just into video games like 24\7 ,i have a 4 yeae old boy and already teaching him
Loose if you use specified torque? With locktite haven't you the risk to strip them next time you have to remove them? They are not big bolts I think they cannot bear a huge torque. Which color of locktite? Dry or wet? Thanks
Will every single thing from this video work on my GTI 1.8t golf?? I need to take out my engine from 1 car and the clutch from another, combine them and have a running motor
Been following your video, really struggling to get the gearbox up and back in, 3 people around me trying to lift and get it on a jack its just not happing
Hello, if i have my skoda octavia 2 remapped from 105 bhp to 140 bhp, what clutch do you recommend? Stage 1,2,3? PS, i have to change it as it's slippery. Cheers
I have seen that you lubricate shaft clutch and the clutch disc is from LUK. in instruction the shaft should not be lubricate. wont be any problem with it?
Hi mate, I have a very Passat that needs a new flywheel. I am planing on doing it my self. Is it going to be exactly the same process and I know reaching the gear box is like a mission will it be that same as your golf?
Hello, I brought a clutch for my MK 5 golf 2006. I ended up buying 2 separate clutch and the 2 do not fit and when you try to close the box it is not closing so Can you help me out and tell me what's the problem please
Again enjoyed your video, good quality and well explained but I have to ask, what's with your you-tube name. I know "VAG" is VW (I think) but the rest I don't know. Cheers from Garry (Australia).
Hi My VW golf mk4 1.4 (1999) petrol. manual gear is hesitating when I release or press the gas pedal while driving in low speeds. Spark plugs, airfilter, petrol filter and oil are new and OK) the engine starts fast, car doesnt shake while parked or at startup. My clutch was replaced since 15 thousand km. It is high clutch though. someone said to me that maybe it needs to be lower (the function of the clutch starts when 3/4th of full press releasing) do you know what might be wrong?
My clutch is very firm and requires a bit of effort to press, is this a sign of a bad clutch, a friend of mine has the same polo and his clutch pedal is effortless to press down and it's like nothing

Thanks for a great instructional video. Alone I succeeded after many hours replace clutch. All with the help of a jack, slings and stubbornness.
Love to hear this stuff
Its feels great to know that you can fix your car

Hi great vids as always can you plz do one on how to bleed the clutch on mk iv golf cheers
Working on a ‘14 Jetta SE (water pump AND clutch). Your videos are very helpful, but I have one question- was there a pilot bearing to replace?
brilliant.would suggest blocks of railway sleeper or blocks of wood to jack car safely. exellent demo.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video . This was very Helpful !!!
Thank you so much, this video really help me out and it's very well explained in detail. Keep making videos, Much love.

Great set of videos, you have a natural talent for this. I think Discovery Channel should get you to make a series of DIY films! ... I wish you had a MK5 R32 though :-).
Mate i know this is old but did you do a vid on bleeding that valve? I just did my clutch and breaks finishing it off tomorrow 👍
Thanks for the video, it will be very helpful for my next project. Just one question, what kind of chuth do you use?????
Fantastic video step-by-step stage great relationship with son
Great video!! I'm working on a project with jetta engine. Replacing the old clutch system, I want to know what's the size of the bolt that is used to fit the pressure plate onto the flywheel. It would be great if you can help out
Did you have to replace a lot of o rings and seals? Stretch bolts?
Should i bleed the slave cylinder after replacing the clutch or it's not necessary ??
Great informative video all the rest start with the gearbox already out, the best video I,ve seen, brill!
Great job I'm about to start on 08 Skoda Octavia 1.4 petrol the same engine and gearbox thanks
Thanks for showing the process....and helping me make the decision that I'm never doing this...I'll just get rid of the car when the clutch fails!
It’s only worth doing yourself if you’re a proper car person who has all the tools and knowledge
@@jm4gaming886 I agree...def not for a regular garage do it yourselfer...need a shop with a lift and the proper supports...I’ll pass on this one.
You don’t need proper lifts, I did this today for mine, all I used was axle stands to hold car up then jack to hold engine, then wiggled transmission out, it was a bitch job but I did it on my own outside my house
And mine is a TT Quattro so there was a propshaft and a transfer box in the way which made it difficult to manoeuvre

great job! I am about to do this on my passat. Could you please give a link for that impact wrench? Thank you
Well done, good tip about wire curves
Glad it was helpful!

and you teaching your son how to work on cars, Dad's of the year to you, here in USA most of kids are just into video games like 24\7 ,i have a 4 yeae old boy and already teaching him
My one is the same unless I drag him out. Life is so much different today, they are much more lady than before.
5:30-5:40 use locktite the allen bolts can run lose some times!
Loose if you use specified torque? With locktite haven't you the risk to strip them next time you have to remove them? They are not big bolts I think they cannot bear a huge torque.
Which color of locktite? Dry or wet?

Excellent tutorial! Great work.
Clutch alignment: how much effective is the alignment by inspectioning the disk edge through the 3 windows in the clutch pressure plate?
excellent video.Thanks so much!!
Will every single thing from this video work on my GTI 1.8t golf?? I need to take out my engine from 1 car and the clutch from another, combine them and have a running motor
Good video as always, wearing the north face on the floor though
Been following your video, really struggling to get the gearbox up and back in, 3 people around me trying to lift and get it on a jack its just not happing
Do you reckon it will be easy for me to do it on my 2003 tdi polo? I know on a golf there will be alot more wires to disconnect. Cheers man
Can I ask on your first clutch vid you used an impact wrench. Can I have details of that or link where to get it from?
What degreaser is it you used I’m going to attempt it
Any remarks or benefits in replacing the flywheel to a single mass G60 flywheel?
Helpful video man cheers for uploading!
Hey man, thanks for the video. I just can't seem to center my clutch on my 1.4 Polo. What can I use? I do not have a centering tool.
At about 5.09 on the part 2 video he said use a 16mm socket to centre it?
Loud and clear ,where do you lock the flywheel while opening?
There's a tool
Did ur clutch plate have a little play?? Because im doing my 1.8t but i notice that it has some play
Good job.thanks for video.god bless you

if the rear main seal is gone arent you just going to have the same problem with the new clutch>?
Hi, do you have to release the hydraulic pressure to re-install the slave cylinder? Thanks,
Ok you did answer this. Thanks, 7:46 Thanks,

But son smashed it (banging noises)😂😂

what's the torque spec on the clutch allen bolts? also does the 16mm socket align the clutch correctly or should i use a tool?
I'm about to swap in a 02m into my wagon

can I perform the same way clutch change on my vw golf mk4 automatic gearbox?
by the way, good job, man. Respect :)
Auto doesn't have a clutch, but I think all the mounting bolts would be similar
What are symptoms of bad clutch? I have a b5 passat 1.9 tdi with 240 k on clock, its not fast as it used to be,should i consider replacement
+Mirko Nejašmić if your clutch pedal starts to recede then you need a new clutch
Mirko Nejašmić maybe your intake manifold is clogged from exhaust gas recirculation
Hey man, where'd you learn how to do all this stuff?
Why do you clean off the anti-rusting agent? Is the clutch a sealed assembly?
Nils Guillermin you want a clean surface without any residue that could burn up and create a varnish
So how do you bleed the clutch ?
Your transmission is the 02M 6 speed, right?

+BMAC VAGS Why do you use the engine support bar? Did you loosen any engine mounts? Is there a way to do this without needing to support the engine?
The gearboxhas a mount that supports the engine, otherwise it would be hanging on one mount like a dislocated shoulder.
Thank you for the beautiful video
how did you get the air out the system
verry good and nice video thanks brother...
Your videos are great but dont use anti seize on the input shaft, a fine grease instead
It was a different type of anti-seize
