      @@christopherswanson1628 the l60e transmission Works absolutely fine unless you modify the engine or abuse the vehicle. Everybody schitts on it and there's nothing wrong with it. If you actually make some effort to treat the vehicle the right way and keep the transmission from cooking, it works just fine. The issue is everybody keeps adding horsepower to their cars and the 5.3 is pretty much already putting out with a 4 L 60 can handle. If you're going to add a Turbocharger to it then that's what you get. When you leave them alone they work just fine. People forget that a lot of GM Transmissions are in heavy-duty off-road and commercial vehicles. Nobody has an issue with them. It's just the Ford Fanboys talking shit...meanwhile they can't make a work-related reliable V8 engine since literally the 351.

    The transmission went out in my brother’s 4x4 Silverado at 103,000 miles. Neither GM, the dealer where he purchased the truck or extended warranty company (purchased 100k extended warranty) would repair the truck. They wanted just over $8,000 to repair or replace the transmission. My brother sold the truck and went back to buying Dodges. That was his first and only Chevrolet. Transmission had a whining noise.

    • @Thundarr995
      @Thundarr995 Год назад +5

      That's why I'd never buy an extended warranty ever again. Back in 2000,I bought a 95 Chevy S-10 4cyl. The head cracked,or it was cracked when I bought it about a week prior. I took it back, and they said they fixed it. I marked the head with blue paint before I brought it back. All they did was dump stop leak in it. I drove it for a couple of weeks,and I found the crack & it was leaking into the #3 spark plug hole,causing a random misfire. Brought it back down there. This time, they replaced the head, but they had the freaking detail shop replace it and didn't tell me. I was pissed when I found out,but I needed the truck to get to work. They assured me that it was done correctly, but they didn't. They had the spark plug wires mixed up. Believe it or not, the 94 & newer Chevy/Isuzu 2.2L will run just fine with the spark plug wires mixed up because it fires on both the intake and exhaust stroke,but it won't get out of its own way if they're mixed up. I figured that out about a month later when I gave it a tune-up. I will never buy an extended warranty ever again. You're better off just saving the money you would have spent on the extended warranty just in case you break down. They always come up with some damn reason(s) why they won't cover it. They're a waste of money and a false sense of security.

    From what our gm field rep explained it to me where it’s a cross cut gear design and not a straight cut gear design where it’s running in a angle it’s putting too much stress on the bearing it self and allowing it to wear out and walk off the race

    The most common Trans failure we see with the gm trans in the aftermarket is actually the v4 to v8 cross over creating a Trans converter failure. That's the actual cause of the drive gear issue

    • @esoterictransmissions
      @esoterictransmissions  Год назад +1

      That is for 6L80 transmissions not 10L80s. The converters rarely fail on the 10L80/90. The 10L1000 in the Duramax-equipped diesels have way more converter failures.

  • @davepaturno4290
    @davepaturno4290 Год назад

    There are typically two ways to prevent this from happening. One is a properly designed interference fit. The second is the use of a cylindrical bonder like Loctite 609 or other variant, and possibly a primer. Of course, operating temperatures should be factored into the solution. Cleanliness of mating surfaces (if bonding) is very important.
