Workers unhooking an edge girder in Windsor, Ontario.
Each edge girder weighs 99,000 pounds.
Gordie Howe International Bridge will be a six lane bridge with a width that wide enough for a future expansion to eight lanes, and will still include a pedestrian lane. It will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America and will also set the world record for longest composite steel and concrete cable-stayed bridge deck in the world.

Those iron workers are a special breed.!👍
They sure are.
Yeah just there I want to be standing - on the end of that beam 185 feet above the river. Safety harness or none - NO THANKS!. Hats off to the guys who do this for a living.
It must be a cool feeling.
@@michaelanthonyvideos How much do you think the average IRON WORKER gets per hour on that project?
@@patrickwhelan5703 That's a good question.
The guy is tied off. At 1:16 you can clearly see his lanyard and retractable.
Yes truly incredible workers on this bridge! Bravo to their skill and courage standing above the river!!
best show on youtube
ironworkers are the gods of all trades!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for watching!
Makes my stomach sink to my feet! So brave!
Now besides the music. Those guys have nerves of steel to do that.And. the fact you covered it. This people will watch in the future. Great Job
Thank you for Thomas!
Really well engineered lifting attachment, wham bam thank you ma'am, next! Don't drop that pin....... In addition the crane operator held the lifting attachment away from the deck until someone was ready to take control of it and no one was surprised by it. Team work above and beyond. Good one Michael.
Thank you for watching!
Amazing fun watching this span come together - literally.
Thank you for watching!
Seeing those giant heavy brains perched out on the ends of the spans is crazy. And to meet at exactly the right height and angle in the middle. Just amazing.
One question I would have is on cable stay bridges how do you do maintenance or inspections on the cables when they are at such angles?
Epic opening shot. Ahh, to be an high iron worker. The pride they must feel.
That would feel really cool.
dang, that guy standing on the end is BA
Yeah he is. 💪
way, way beyond badass
Nicely done (yet again). Why does my brain tell me the bridge is shaking when they wrangle those clamps...
Yea me to at first I thought it was the camera but then realized it was the beam moving up and down with the guy on it
Thank you! 🙏
He does have a safety harness on. Tough job.
My back hurts just watching them trying to maneuver the clamps out of the way, once they are released!
Right!
Well done !
Thank you!
Very cool...
👍🙏
I design steel buildings for my job....fairly jealous of these guys that get to put them together
How much weight do you think the cables are holding from the point of the towers to the end of the partially completed bridge? How much will the bridge weigh when it's all done?
I bet those clamps are nothing lightweight either! Whew!
I wonder how much they weigh.
How that 99000 pound girder just hangs over without support is amazing.
It's unbelievable.
The bolting on the one end is more than sufficient to hold the beam as a cantilever until the cable stays are connected and tensioned.
That guy's a lot braver than me.
How does the edge-girder hold if it hasn’t been connected to the stay cable?
Magic... 😏
Big ass splice plates.
The bolting on the one end is more than sufficient to hold the beam as a cantilever until the cable stays are connected and tensioned.
looks like 3 or 4 sections until they connect up the two sides
Hey Curly!
@@michaelanthonyvideos nyuk nyuk nyuk. I have used this avatar for almost 10 years and you are the first person to ever comment on it. I think that The Boys should be mandatory viewing for all of our young people.
@@dalevalentine1721 I love that idea. Everyone should really watch all those old episodes and the movies too.

Just saying
Why don't you get up there and show them how to do it. Just saying
they don't pay these guys enough
It’s a reality easy job… just 100 feet about a river that’s all…
with this segment we are down to 50 feet until we connect the gap is getting shorter and shorter every day.
Yes!
🫣
May be you should use your JET PACK for bridge INSPECTION at altitude. Especially cable stayed bridge and suspension bridge. NO RISK = NO WIFE.
A 99,000 lb cantilevered beam ? Iron workers are awesome, but who’s giving credit to the engineers ?
Thank you for watching!
Dude you are creating a safety hazard by the distraction of loitering the drone so close to workers performing a dangerous job.
🤣😂
American Bridge rocks
Yes! Thanks Bobby!
