Remember seeing a video of this train station when it was abandoned and derelict a few years ago and it pained me recalling the many times I had been there in the 1960s when I was a boy with my mother taking train trips to visit her side of the family in Maryland and Ohio.
Glad to see this Detroit icon getting a second chance, it really was a work of art.
Beautiful ❤
My twin brother and I have been in every inch of this place, except the basement, because it was full of water..
Im so happy to see it restored 😊❤️❤️❤️ Love this video. ❤
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. It’s a good thing!
4:38 - I explored MCS many times before 2014 and it feels like a miracle to see her look this clean. I have a video on my channel from 2008 for anyone curious to see the contrast. Hats off to Ford for saving her!
Thank you Chris for stopping by and leaving a comment. I’ll check out your video for sure. I also explored the depot before and after it closed. Awesome place.
Ahhh, remembering the "good-ol-days" when my Dad and I used pick up my Grand parents around Christmas time back in the early '60's when it was the Michigan / New York Central Railroad station. What a majestic building ! Thanks to FoMoCo for keeping the dream alive, (though on a completely different level). 'Can't wait to see the interior.
Thanks for stopping by.
Love, love, Love your Videos! Thank You! You are Greatly Appreciated 🙏🏽👍🏽

Wasn't Ford the reason the whole city got abandoned in the first place?
The first gateway... this building has so much meaning for the people of Detroit and Michigan

You know, watching this, I started shedding some tears. Not because I’m sad but because I’m happy for the City of Detroit and the station to see it all lit up and being fresh from what it was. I know the car industry did a lot of damage when it started leaving Detroit but Ford buying the station is a start to help it come back. There is hope. I’m so happy to see it live again.
Thank you sir for stopping in and leaving a fantastic comment on my video. Being a life long Detroiter I’m also very happy to see the progress
Tears. Beyond beauty.
Thanks for stopping in. Glad you enjoyed it
Just came across this video. Excellent work. It is so good to see this building saved. I have no connection with Michigan but it is a great glimpse of past glories and what the future holds for the building and Detroit.
Thank you for giving it a look and leaving a comment. I’m with you. Quit the demolition of our landmarks and repurpose them.
Obviously freight trains still travel from Michigan to Canada, yet the opposite rail looks rusty. No international passenger service and still no local rail transit in Detroit from this station.
Yes correct. Only CP freight traffic. The Ford Motor Company is renovating the old station to be their electric vehicle and driverless car development headquarters. All the tracks leading to the Depot have been removed. Only one porthole has been enlarged to handle the dubbestacks and the other portal sees little traffic.
@@bentrail The building is likely high-end condos with no legitimate connection to rail travel. The globalist Ford electric affiliation is a sad new existence of the 2020s.
Its train station days are over…
Thanks for stopping in.
State of Michigan should subsidize a spur going cross Michigan and linking AmTrak in Toledo opening up Detriot to the National Rail system.Califorina has their own AmTrak and Maine supports the Down Easterner.
this is a happy moment for Detroit !

Good looking building. Not crazy about the electric-blue lighting outside.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. The former train station has been taken over by the Ford Motor Company. Their company color is, you guessed it. Blue.
There’s really no other way to appreciate the details of the architecture by night otherwise
This is a very beautifully made video. Thank you so much for sharing it with us out here in RUclips land.
Thank you once again Dean. Just an update on the progress of the old train station in Detroit. The project has been going on for a few years now.
It would be awesome if it could get passenger train service one more time. Like a high-speed train from Detroit to Chicago, or even Detroit to Cleveland. One person can dream. But I never thought I would see this beauty renovated, yet here we are.
I totally agree ! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Enjoyed the video! Nice to see the building saved from vandals and eventual destruction!

I caught the Amtrak train back to Chicago there in the early 70's . Sure looks good now even if it has lost it's railroad connection. Are the upper floors occupied or just lit at night?
Thanks for stopping by. Nothing is occupied yet. Still restoring the building but should be completed by the fall they say. The Ford Motor Company is doing a great job!
i love it...
Thank you for stoping in and leaving a comment.
Nice restoration - but it looks like there's no front entrance, or it has been altered? Too bad all the additional tracks are gone in the rear!
The main entrance (front door) is in the middle under the canopy. Same place it has always been. Thanks for stopping in and leaving a comment.
Very nice drone flying. Good music but a few CG's to point out landmarks might have been nice.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I agree with that. I never thought that this video would have had so much interest at the time i made it. It was a short clip that i put together for a railroad club that i belong to and at that event i had the opportunity to narrate. I may redo in the future with other footage of the progress /restoration and will include more information.
Excellent! Are you using audio from a cam or a drone mic?
Thank you for stopping in. I used a camera to capture the audio of the train.
@@bentrail that’s what I did when I was in La Grange Kentucky. That’s a great train town.
Is this building going to be Ford’s international headquarters? Ford has so much history in Detroit
No. This will be Ford’s autonomous car headquarters. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Opening soon 2024!

Nice video, beautiful building, lot of history, good vibration but i don't see the purpose.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Look back in the comments and I explain what’s going on. Thank you.
Nice

Not sure WHY this video is NOT playing 😒
