Windhand, one of the greatest bands of all time, and I swear only a hand full of people in my hometown know of them. One of the good things about the internet is you find people who care about the same things that you do and are actually passionate about them. What criminally underrated band.
I love how long these songs are... it's magic. I've been literally crying tears because this is the most beautiful sounding music I've ever heard. I've been looking for this sound. Took me 30 years to find it..

The heaviest of the heaviest. Amazing eerie singing, great lyrics, unreal distortion, awesome drumming, humongous riffs and solos! No wonder why Windhand has become my favourite doom band and why this song is my ultimate favourite! Long live Windhand!
I love the use of F.W. Murnau's Faust in this video-a classic of Weimar era German expressionist cinema. It complements the massive as a black hole riffage of Windhand nicely.
I'm 50 and I loves a smoke whilst playing COD zombies (lambflaps) and some Electric Wizard, Sleep, Mastodon. I'm adding Windhand to the mix, having discovered them today. In fact I'm the phone to my man right now.
Anyone else feel like the music and those visuals, especially at around 3:10 are unlocking some kind of faint memories from the collective unconscious, or subconscious? It's so weird and so hard to put in words, but i really believe that this kind of music can take your mind into some very bizarre yet familiar places that feel utterly psychedelic and universal.
I loved this song from about the first time I heard it and have listened to it about a million times since. But I never watched the video until now.......whaooooaaaa!!!!!
One of the greatest doom bands of modern times. I saw them in Baltimore at a fest at sidebar probably 12 years ago now and this album I know wasn’t out yet so it’s been awhile. They have the best female doom vocalists since acid king. Hands down! Has a folksiness to it I can explain but if you know Appalachia you might understand!
I discovered this band watching the animated comedy tv series "Animals." (S01E06), so random to find this there compared to the light humor used in the show. I had to shazam it, well worth it :D.
What separates this from so many contemporary heavy music songs is that you can hear the lyrics and they are AWESOME!! I love grinding vocals that are completely unintelligible. But part of the reason why is that I don't really want to know what the stupid lyrics are! These lyrics are poetry, set to a doom riff, and so far beyond your average metal intelligence, that you feel as if you have been granted access to a secret society where singing and poetry are living with doom and metal in the sort of biblical harmony prophesied in the end times. Excuse me....but I have to go cry now.
BRUH SAME !!!!!!!!!!! god so many people dont understand this lol, thats why i go towards instrumental more cause you cant find good songs with unintelligible lyrics often
No doom metal has grinding screeching vocals man its all kinda clear so if youre comparing thisto thrash it's a bit unfair or biased because they are different types of metal just like tool is progressive metal right these guys are a type of the genre not the genre get over it
I’m a 80s metal head and still am, I like the death metal music, but hate the vocals, what’s wrong with lead singers that can actually sing? Where’s the next Ronnie James Dio
The Haunted, a Sicilian doom metal band with a female vocalist brought me to Windhand. They are equally excellent. Just got my vinyl copy of Soma in the mail. The draw for me is the vocals. I'm a very, very long time Sabbath fan and this music definitely resonates with me.
I'm so glad I discovered this spectrum of subgenres. Kyuss, Sheavy, Electric Wizard, Windhand, Sleep, Dope Throne (The Canadian band), Bongzilla, Weedeater, Uncle Acid, Acid King, Goblin Cock, it just keeps going on and on and I can't get enough of it. All because of that fateful night I was on edibles and thought "lol let's listen to this ironically".

This song lives in my head rent free, has a drinking problem and keeps raiding my fridge

AWESOME job!!!!!!!!!!
nicely done !
there are lyrics in the description but there's no way those are correct, they don't even match the song.
to the top you go!

After Cathedral bro

Kayla V. Stoner doom is the best. You should check out The Well from Austin, Tx which is fronted by a female vocalist as well.
🤘 same here

Kolton Primeaux Will do, thank you!
Kolton Primeaux Anything similar to Doom Mantia by Electric Wizard?

Fuck yeah me too.
I don't get it. It just sounds like early sabbath to me. Minus the catchy tunes.
@marcel0000 What do you not get.
@@kickstar1 Maybe Black Sabbath?
Dorthia Cottrell is living proof that female metal singers do not need some super airy loud high voice to sound awesome...
KernelKaramilk2100 yes this!!! She sounds amazing and heavy. Not that I don’t love other powerful girl singers of a different style, example; IN THIS MOMENT
I don't think anyone was asking for proof? Scientists have more important hypotheses to formulate, guy. 🙄
@John Doh yah I don't think he'll ever recover from that one, probably why it's been a month and still no reply from him. Well, I hope he's ok.
Bro this is everything metals been needing
I didn't know anyone thought otherwise
Never will get sick of this banger
🤣 was her name Brittany?
Windhand, such a huge sound. Like a siren calling across the barren plains of hades.
insane new sound they created digging deep

This is by far one of the greatest songs ever made
You could shake the whole damn street with those riffs
One of those rare bands where I don't want to skip a single track. Perfectly heavy, perfectly beautiful.
First time hearing this band. Glad I did.
absolutely beautiful work here Windhand! Goosebumps at those dirty sexy huge riffs and brutal drums xxx
I love the use of F.W. Murnau's Faust in this video-a classic of Weimar era German expressionist cinema. It complements the massive as a black hole riffage of Windhand nicely.
I was wondering what this was. thx

Fellow 50+ game here, add Dopethrone to that mix.
I'm only 47 but I totally hear you. I'd add Acid King and Saint Vitus to that mix.
47 I listen to black metal while gaming.
I’m jealous of every soul to have heard this band before me
Perfect music for psychedelics if you're a metalhead or if you like Dark Souls lol
Try both
Good thing I'm trying dmt for the first time today :)

I always love the videos that are made for Windhand's music. The video for the song "Crypt Key" off the new album is equally moody and dark. So sick.
A Tinder date turned me on to this. She left, but my love for this band remains.
tits are temporary, windhand is forever
😉👍🤘
Just goes to show, metal is the true love of us all.
Fuck tits and walk away. 😈 unless you prefer dicks. Either way, dont let it mess with your metal.

damn too bad. she was a keeper
OH, GOD, IT'S HEAVY! I'M DOOMED!

Gonna see these guys opening for Sleep in one week. Can't wait!
I also was at the Portland show. It was amazing!
stuffandjunkanduhh Yeah it was windhand and sleep. Amazing show
Nice, mellow tune. Sort of getting nostalgic here. Reminds me of music my grandmother used to play when I was a child.
Feels like a long time ago
One of my favorite bands.
This song and video are perfect. It makes me feel so good inside.
That angel in the beginning with those riffs is so eery. 0:03
Best female rock vocalist.
I was picturing a nice orchard. On a farm with fun hay rides and fresh glasses of apple cider. That isn't the vibe I'm getting here.
mmmm apple cider
Think hard apple cider, maybe some bourbon close by.
Que manera de relajar el cuerpo las canciones de esta banda...
52 years and ive found nothing better than Windhand. Takes me to another place with every listen.....(try Libusen, and Amaranth from them)
Indeed, their very first eponymous album (Windhand) is still my fave of their discography 🤘🏻🖤
@@jinabrasser9439 libusen for sure, but black candles and winter sun rock hard.....heck all of em, but heap wolves is just ok

Like the scenes from Murnau‘s Faust being used in a music video 👍
this band rips and then slays in that order
This song is perfect
