I have always loved the juxtaposition of an impossibly heavy or brutal sounding band with the fragility and overwhelmingly connected to the earth sound of a woman's voice. The band being powerful in a physical way and the vocals powerful in spirit and soul. Thank you Windhand for putting your music into the world.

Just re-visited this album after only really liking First to Die and Grey Garden. Finished loving nearly every song and only just realising how much Eyeshine is the bomb
from all those sabbath-esque bands that have emerged in last decade or so, I like yours fuzz the most. looking forward to see you live this summer, cheers!
Probably one of the first to say this in a comment. But Channel 33 RPM brought me here. I'm glad I watched that episode. I usually take my sludge in small doses, but this stuff his highly melodic and I'm really digging the singer. Especially since you can understand what they are singing. Kinda reminds me of Alice in Chains or Stone Temple Pilots but with a really sludgy sound. Will definitely be buying this on vinyl asap.

Listened to three songs. Bought this album cover band shirt on the website. No regrets. Trying to see them live now, gonna have to get up to TN in September!
I remember playing with them at a small club in Maryland, a doom festival, right when their first lp came out. Nothing has changed, masssssssive sounding, catchy, perfect. Windhand > cough
great album, I also like how they mix it up have less heavy songs like Pilgrim's Rest (which sounds like it could be an Elliot Smith song), that makes it more than just an 'Electric Wizard-core' album which is a trap many bands in the doom genre fall into, fortunately Windhand has its own sound and identity.
If you enjoy the more mellow Windhand songs you need to go track down Dorthia's two solo albums, 2015 & 2023, (both on RUclips) they're absolutely fkn incredible, especially the first S/T one. Not an electric guitar in sight. The girl (she's around my daughter's age) is truly gifted. And this reco is coming from a boomer who normally listens to the most extreme underground black and death metal. I just have a soft spot for Windhand. This one's great, and their first three albums are just as great.
Was listening to Crowbar and this album started playing. I'm 3 songs in and i love it. It has a 90s feel and a little Dax Riggs so far on track 3. I needed this... Edit: I thought there was a little Nirvana in it too. Track 9(feather) confirmed it for me!!
First time listening on a recommendation from a Brother. Great stuff, I definitely need to check out more. Favorite bands are anything from Mike Patton, Devin Townsend, Melvins, Napalm Death, Yob and Neurosis mostly.
i was listening to Ritual Knife by Uncle Acid when this album popped up in my recommendations too. haven't listened to Windhand before but I'm halfway into the album and I'll definitely listen again. 👍
I'm hearing it for the first time and the very first thing that came into my mind was: "Nirvana!?". Unfortunally it bothers me a bit. I already had my fair share of Nirvana when I was a teen lol.
Dude, like my mom and I, we made this pedal, and it glows in the dark if you spin it counter clockwise when you play Candyland.... in the nude. It's a distortion/fuzz hybrid.

Sweet, they are playing this summer in Denver!!!
Can def hear the grunge influence but also 90s post-metal at times. And dooooom, of course.
So much more soulful than most doom bands. Like she's actually heard a Muddy Waters record before. The soul sets them apart from the pack.
Yeah, Nirvana and AIC vibe pops out all the time. But I wouldn't compare it with Doom, rather with Stoner. Nice band.
And I think there is some Shoegaze too.
Perhaps that could be tied to the producer, a genius, a sound smith above all other sound smiths.
Oh my gods.... this is a masterpiece of divine proportions.
yes it is
absolutely... they nailed it on this one aaaand it was even really promising on their first release summon the moon etc... pure doom love
