the song just wrings the tears straight out my eyes. it's not sadness or crying, it's just the sheer weight of the wall of sound and emotion being pressed upon me.
You described my explanation of Windhand perfectly! At my grandparents' house on Christmas night, freezing cold outside but the hearth is warm. Rural Appalachia, nothing but dark mystery outside, amid the immense pines.
Damn those practice space demos sound as good as the actual album. Back in my day, "rehearsal space demo" meant boombox in the middle of the room with a Radioshack microphone and sounded like shredded garbage.
My world was changed when I happened to a Sleep show that windhand opened for. High as fuck in the crowd just zoning out watching the fog machines roll and the band just groove on stage. Shit was epic as fuck. Bern diehard since that night.
Best band I have heard since 97. And yes I know there is good music out there. This just hits me right. I've been looking for a sound like this. Grunge Doom
I'm an old mf and seeing Windhand is on my bucket list. So if you lady and gentlemen come to New Orleans and I don't know because the nursing home has me doped up, I'll be really disappointed. So I'm putting it on you guys. Let me know. Seriously. Love this band.
This is a great album too very heavy and smooth I love the bone chilling riffs and how long the notes are Its like a bowl of ramen like really spooky ramen.
Oh sheeeit! You’ve never listened to this album before?! Fuck me, this album is straight up SOLID all the way through and their best, imo. I’m saying, the others are great and all but this one, this one brought Hell with it. The first time I heard it, I listened to it nonstop for days. Still do. Matter fact, I’m on my first play through now lol
@@smasher.338 while you’re not wrong at all, I’d take this over that one every time, simply bc I don’t skip tracks on this one but I do on ER. HOWEVER……Kingfisher, amirite?!🥹
Had to post again. This is Soooooo good! Heap wolves was the only track I thought was just only ok before, the new mix makes that track and Winter Sun just as beastly as the others. Amaranth is a nice add. You roll em out, I buyz em!!!! Dear windhand, go back to a 5 piece.....the tones just melt faces.
Love you guys! Unfortunately missed the opportunity to see you live in elsewhere in 2018. But Was able to see you some months after in Berlin, loved every second!
Idk but I’m envious that you’re experiencing this for the first time, as I wish I could go back to that inaugural spin, smoke and sit just amazed and zoned.
haha....I understand what yer sayin`. I personally usually prefer those "Digipack" CD`s cuz the don`t have easy to break cases like regular CD`s but in the case of this band, I seee how runnin` that ole needle through would sound exceptionally badass, specially since the needle on my record player is in tip-top shape!
....yeah, but its very minor and its overshadows by the SERIOUS DOOM metal sound which is what this band. There`s some grunge bands I like since I lived through the 80ties & 90ties the 2 main bands that from the days of 90ties grunge was L7 and friends grunge/riotgrll band callled Squat and I do like several Veruca Salt but I also think there were a lot of sucky ass bands to come out from Grunge that just mainly safe college rock (as opposed to RAWK).....like I always thought Soundgarden and Pearl Jam sucked.

For some reason I am noticing this remaster much more than other remastered albums. I am second guessing my decisions to dismiss the presale for a physical copy because I already have it. Surely I shouldn't buy the same album twice? 🤔
if i could go back to hearing winter sun for the first time in 2011......
the song just wrings the tears straight out my eyes. it's not sadness or crying, it's just the sheer weight of the wall of sound and emotion being pressed upon me.
Just an incredible album. Like being all alone in a cabin in the woods in the dead of winter. More hours of darkness than daylight.
perfect vibes for my isolated arctic town. very dark and so cold
You described my explanation of Windhand perfectly! At my grandparents' house on Christmas night, freezing cold outside but the hearth is warm. Rural Appalachia, nothing but dark mystery outside, amid the immense pines.
Cant wait to play Windhand at my remote hill cabin in woods when my health gets better

I had everything from radio shack
Amp, turntable, headphones
Even roachclips.
They had everything 👀
YOU THINK THEY MIGHT HAVE A BLACK SABBATH INFLUENCE?
Still have my RadioShack STA 2000 audio receiver...😊

Sleep AND Windhand? You are a lucky bastard! I saw Windhand live 9/22 in a small venue. My favorite show ever, hands down
@@gurugoat8298 yeah it was insane. Amazing night.
Jealous.
When you push the play button on an Windhand album, you do it cause you already know that you ll listen to good music.
Agree completely
Lol, braindead observation my stoner
I mean, that's typically how it works whenever one listens to any music that they like, but I agree with your sentiment.
I never push play on albums that I like. I just put them in and that's it.
Amen to that..😊
Best band I have heard since 97.

smoke weed and listen to windhand, goddamn 💥
incredibly deep and true music
The Winter Sun Remaster is just pure insanity.. soooo good.
The guitar solo on Winter Sun is probably one of my all-time favourites. Absolute legend.
idk libusen is fucking great too
Yes indeed but the one that gets me amped is the Libusen solo. POWERFUL.
It is sooo brutally good.. the whole song is insane..
This first album was so good. I glad they re-released it in 2023.
Nice to see Jack Endino still contributing to awesome music in the world.
man oh man this is terrific...only gave their second record a spin, which I liked, but this remaster is awesome.
Thank you Relapse! This is the deluxe edition we didn't even know we needed but can't live without! Hail Windhand!

Windhand + Soma are epic albums. Can't wait to get the Vinyl. :)
Soma is hella underrated and under appreciated imo.
Fuzztastic!

Such an atmospheric heavyness. I was so hooked on Practice space, I instantly knew that the album was gonna be great as was the demo.
These songs blow me away every damn time.....amazing......
