I'm beginning to suspect these gentlemen may be under the influence of marijuana cigarettes...
LMFAO!!!!
Never!
How dare you slander the name of gentelmen with such claims.
Edge Harper or brownies
Edge Harper I fell like I am when listening to this
8 or so hours of Sleep a day is a necessity for all mankind!
So, what your saying is that we should listen to about three sleep songs a day
Now I have milk in my sinuses...thanks for that :)
lol
Wise advice
this should be the pinned comment.
I don't usually ride the dragon, but when I do, its towards the crimson eye
NE BU LA CRIES OUT TO ME YEE

and right through the crimson door.
Thats the funniest thing i heard in a long time excellent
Yesssiiirrrr........
Ozzy himself gave Sleep the golden seal of approval. Could there possibly be any higher compliment from anyone else on the planet? Me thinks Naut
Super, is it naut?
Id settle for matt pike and be jazzed about it
Source?
and did he also bite the head of that poor seal ?
I give them the golden seal too. Chris Canfield,Captain Howdy, Pay it forward.
I love stoner rock riffs. They’re just so badass.
This is metal
@@somethingsomething9008 lol
@@somethingsomething9008 isn't metal technically a type of rock
It's just rock and roll man
Creo que Sleep podría decirse que es una banda de stoner/doom
I haven't heard anything more Black Sabbath which isn't actually Black Sabbath!
I think Peter Steele (RIP) would approve.
Electric Wizard is pretty Sabbath-esque at times
oh no, there is "tefra" and "sHEAVY"... them sounds even more like sab and ozzy then themselfs, haha
Try this: Stoned Jesus - Black Woods
My thoughts, exactly.
Never heard this track of master of reality
is a bonus track I think
Yeah this is Lord of the world actually lol
Brings me back to my youth.
Yes, it's not very popular since they recorded it with another vocalist while Ozzy was asleep.
I laughed at loud to that
Not a huge Sleep fan BUT this track is an absolute classic. It combines that Sabbath late 60s/early 70s vibe with a modern twist. One of the stoner tunes. Top 5 certainly.
🤘😈🤘
listen to dopesmoker it's the best thing they've ever done
Resembles me Blue Cheers
A modern 90's twist?
Take some tried and true Sabbath 'vibes' -whip that together with a pretentious or modern twist and you got some 'stoner rock' -whenever that happened, the late 90s or 00s.
Found this song last year, I was 14. Now it’s this year, still 14 soon to be 15. But this band Sleep along with Black Sabbath has changed my life forever. Thanks to these guys I’ve started playing bass.
DUDE same here. I actually found this band last year when I was 15 but that outro made me realize how cool and groovy the bass could be so without Sleep I’d still be a talentless little kid lol
Sabbath was the band that got me into guitar when I was around 13 or 14 too
Wise choise
Al Cisneros is a freaking beast slappin that bass
bless you kiddo
I love the bass line so much in this song, especially with that wah-type effect too
I think it's actually a phaser
Zach Harvey it’s the Tycobrahe Parachute Wah, the one Geezer used on N.I.B ( it might be a different wah for recording, but Al has been seen with it on his pedalboard as late as April last year ). I could be wrong, but to my ears it’s definitely a wah. Being that this album was influenced by the first 4 Sabbath albums, it makes sense.
@@EmptyDomoKanti99 nah bro thats definitely a phaser

+Quorthon Venom sleep dont look like that
well im confused
i guess i was wrong. these guys are SLEEP !
Most stoner rock and doom metal bands look pretty much like you imagine.
I love me a simplistic music video with calm editing and still camera. Its a rare treat.

As Ozzy said, the natural heirs of Sabbath at their best and the forerunners of stoner metal.
Ozzy knows about Sleep?
@@johnblake2045 They arent underground
At that time, it was really Electric Wizard, though.
I love it. Why wouldn't Ozzy love Sleep!?
@ushnicyuvnikof2748
Sleep pre-dated Electric Wizard. Electric Wizard didn't form until 1993. This track came from Sleep's second full ength 'Sleep's Holy Mountain' that was released in 1992.

good beginner song to learn
Sorry to say I just recently found this band. That’s a lot of sound for 3 dudes. Awesome
Fucking great.
Agreed✌🏻
hi graham
dude i just kinda stumbled on this ...an i like ...it sounds ike old black sabath
Yo have fun going down this rabbit hole.
Welcome, my brother to the wonderful, marijuana filled world of doom metal!
Totally agree me too pretty cool sound !
This is like sabbath on a hit of acid and a upper, or two.
enjoy electric wizard, my friend
Remember watching this video on some old Earache VHS back in the days. Performed it with my band in front of the whole school when I was 18. Interesting moment to say the least.

Always wondered what mashing “ Money “ and “ Lord of this World “ would sound like .........lovin it tho’
lord of this world?

funnily enough, Sleep did a cover of Lord of this World :

Money yeah for some reason I never made that connection before but just thinking of it now 10 years later, then here's your comment
Yesterday I had a horrible bad trip so today I'm listening to Sleep to relax a little bit.
Oh shit....syd? Mesc is a lot better!

Matt Pike for President. 🤘🎸
Sin Diablo I read that as Mike Pence lol
Is that him playing on this dude ?
Yes
Fvck politics man, just enjoy the music...
... and Al Cisneros for Pope...
Man when this record first came out. The "cool" kids who were into heavy rock music all listened to Morbid Angel and Paradise Lost or Black Metal and despised everything else, because that was what you were supposed to listen to. I found that so amusing. I listened to Sleep and Kyuss and Swervedriver. They were wrong. I was right. Ha, ha. A couple of years later the music that I listen to was given the name stoner rock and the people who never listened to it said they've been listening to it all along. Yeah right!
How were you "right"
This is an extremely idiotic comment through and through
This beat sounds very similar to Lord of This World by Sabbath.
They do a cover of Lord of this World on Vol. 2.
Tummler’s got what it takes to be a legend. He’s got a marvelous persona.
One of the coolest songs I've ever heard.
anyone else getting a contact high from watching this?
Me.
already blazed so cant tell
Yes
Lmao
I also can't tell because of the high THC dosage thats in my bloodstream.
This is so true to it's metal roots that's it's hard to truley appreciate.
I don't often listen to Sleep.
But when I do my neighbors get contact high.
I live 5 houses down right now from where the band was formed in Cupertino, CA on Bollinger Road. I remember when they would play Italo's Pizza and Saratoga Lanes Bowling Alley. Great times.
I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song. I love Sleep so much.
This song crushes. I mean, the best rhythm section in rock and Matt Pike on the guitar... How can it not? Three piece goodness for the win!
I come back to this often, and every time it makes me want to pick up a bass.
Black Sabbath's invention of clean voice vocals and slow, heavy performances was great.Sleep and Electric Wizards are their legitimate successors.
Sleep are far more melodic and better vocals than wizard
Gummo is the absolutist the MOST insane movie I've ever seen and I love it
I get the chills just thinking about Gummo - fucking genius mix of music and film - and I've always hated cats
This is all I remember from high school is this album on repeat not much else
This has 1.5 Million views! For some old-school stoner, that's quite impressive. Good job, guys!
The riffs that we need for wake up in the mornings.
Sun Crow 👍🤘
This came out in 1992? Damn, if they had been from Seattle instead of San Jose they'd be rock icons right now.
Instead they’re stoner icons
Its amazing how good they were while being this young. I mean the bassist was only 19 !
They are in different ways. The bass player has his own band called OM which has a big following and the guitarist started a band called High on Fire who just won a Grammy for best heavy metal album a couple years ago.
WTF?! They are rock icons right now... They are one of the most referenced and respected bands in the Stoner/Doom metal scene. Wake up!
@@vinyldiary6664 most certainly I agree with you they are icons.....So is Kyuss.
Woah, it is really fascinating to see the true inspiration for "Space Dragon" Mae is playing on her bass in the game "Night in the Woods"!
Finally found something that's more Sabbath than Sabbath itself.
my 24 yr old turned me onto these beasts. props kid.
One of the best heavy metal songs still that I've heard ladies and gentlemen
It's almost been 20 years since this album and it's never gotten old.
And further more Susan, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to learn,
That all four of them habitually smoked marajuana cigarettes... Reefers!
I love that the amps are featured instead of close ups of the guitarists fingers.
This band is my absoluthely number 1
This + Weed = Awesomeness.
As good as this, Spacegrass by Clutch while stoned is better :p
Nick Fifis thats a fact
Its called stoner metal/ stoner rock for a reason! :)
this shit is so good i do not need weed
Makes me feel high while sober
I love the grunge it reminds me of listening to some Black Sabbath cuz it has that raw sound to it love it
Was playing TF2 and someone was blasting this in voice chat. They also played bewitched by candlemass
That someone has great taste
The fact this only has 2.7 mil views is crazy. Deserves wayyy more than that. Absolute classic song
I remember when I had to write this opening riff and the whole song. Trying 1 take was task but at the end I/ we made a masterpiece
Helping with the drumming was a day of work in itself.

Yes, and this is why I'm here
I still remember the first time I heard Sleep, it was in the Earplugged VHS from Earache. I was listening to DM like crazy (still do) and I saw this video and loved Sleep and doom/stoner since then!!
One my favorite memories of live music is getting into a little moshpit to this as Sleep closed their set after standing and headbanging all night.
I've always wondered what this looked like in colour
I found this song by accident and got hooked
I remember seeing this old as fuck video appear on youtube and being completely and utterly blown away by this. I had never heard of these guys. massive fan boy ever since :D
This drummer is what Lars Ulrich always wanted to be... Good.
GhostNeck its a shame he retired. Jason is equally great
Boooooo! Lars Ulrich was good! Very good! I feel he got older and lazier (notice his kit became less and less as time went on) But he was very very good!
So kitsch to make fun of Lars. Real oOhG GhostNeck. Who gives a shit what other people do no point in comparing Metallica to Sleep. Apples and oranges.
...but this dude is actually good at playing the drums!!
GhostNeck Metallica know better if Lars is a good drummer or not....
This band is just perfect. Best trio
This is the epitome of stoner rock in my opinion. It has it all!!
Perhaps one of the best music videos ever made
One of the best ...of all time!!!!

I ALWAYS FIND MY WAY BACK TO THIS VIDEO. SUCH A TIGHT DOOM SOUND. CHILDREN OF THE SABBATH!
I know they have been around for a wile, But I have been in a bubble of own youth and gave up on music for the last 20 years... or maybe 30?... cause everyone kind of just sucks. and I just found these guys. I'm back. I might have to put "SLEEP" under my Sabbath tattoo.
Over a million views as well. Never realised Matt played through Laneys in those days

I think it's because the orange or120 and one of the Green models are widely regarded as very similar in architecture. Also, I have read that the first run of Orange Amps was produced by Matamp, the company who manufacturers Green Amps. So there's a murky connection
It’s still weird to see Pike with a shirt on
That barely qualifies as a shirt. I suspect an imposter Pike.
My Gawd! I should have listen to you guys during my high school days instead of indulging myself to Korn or Deftones during the mid 90s.
