Just bought the v6 Amarok what an awesome machine. All I can say is its soooooo effortless both on an off road .
A year in, Any trouble with it?
4 years in over here
Only trouble we’ve had with our 2016 model is the tires
Then again, I’m 12 years old and I don’t know much about the payments of the vehicle
But never has it ever broken down on us before so I would go for it!
Any comments on long drives, 500km and further??
I just picked up a 2021 Adventura. Awesome machine. Unlike other 4x4’s, it’s a pleasure to drive in urban areas
😊😎nice. German engineering. Das Auto
I own a Ranger for every day use in the city (Athens) and I can say that this is absolutely the best car I ever had!

Glad your happy but jeeze you musnt of had any good cars before...

I have just spent 6 months test driving vehicles each one of the following for an entire weekend on and off-road., Nissan N trek, Mistsi Toby Price and Premium plus, Toyota Rugged x and Rogue, Ford Wild Trak and Wildtrak X, Amarok Ultimate and Dark label. It was tough between the Ford Wildrtraks and Amarok they were my finalists. In the end, the Amarok won for handling as it feels so much tighter on the road, both on bitumen and dirt. When I am hammering home from a long days work it simply feels stuck to the road in a way the others have not been able to capture yet. But what a time to live in we have such a range of 4wd's to choose from now that our parents and grandparents would be loving it. We are spoilt for choice. Merry Christmas.
You spent 6 months test driving utes on and “off-road” and in the end you went for the Amarok? When was the last time you saw a mental doctor?
I own a Ranger Wildtrack, having previously owned an Amarok and I can whole hardheartedly say the Ranger will run circles around the Amarok off road. The Amarok I had was useless off road but lovely to drive on it. It is far too car like for commercial use but does have the provenance of a German brand. The Ranger is a lot more practical for working, feels more rugged and robust, better value for money, cheaper to own, the only down side I have experienced is that the Roll Top cover is rubbish (and an expensive option), it is not water proof and does hinder your load space but otherwise good for keeping your tools out of view. .
Tried them both - bought a Wildtrak. Love it. Ranger every time
I test drove so many cars including the new Merc as I’ve already got an AMG and wanted the ute to go with! However when I drove the Amarok I was blown away by the engine! Needless to say it wasn’t a hard choice to buy the Amarok! Love it and with a tune it’s as quick as GTI’s just about! With the upgrades on the engine etc it’s now at 230kw and 720nm!! It’s an absolute weapon!!
Amarok is better than anything
Hi Ross, any issues with ECU upgrade and were you able to keep warranty?
Any advice appreciated.
Amarok is a no brainer to me as it has the best constant 4x4 transmission.
I am all over the ranger, yeah it may not be as powerful but it is more efficient and has loads of standard safety equipment.
Always the Amarok! Best by a long shot!
Drove both back to back went with the Amarok, smooth and powerful
I'd chose the Amaarok..... IF it had a bigger infotainment system and safety features that should be standard now days.
Amarok, I pick mine up next week, test drove both of them, I'm not a family man, I'm not to fussed about the rear air bags, Amarok drives better and goes harder. IMHO of course :D
You do know that it struggles off road, they tested the amarok on the grand tour and it couldn’t get up a muddy hill
@@liammclean7532 *shrug* Had mine for a month now, had no issue with muddy hills. I prefer to live in the real world than believe what I see on a show the likes of grand tour. :D
warhamsterful how would you suggest they faked it, CGI? . It’s a fact that actual 4x4 with locking diff is better of road than AWD. And if you aren’t going off road you shouldn’t really have one anyway
@@liammclean7532 that's way to many assumptions for me to bother replying to. I have no issues with mine. It handles what I use it for better than or equally to my friends ranger. Buy what you want but fuck off with your bullshit attitude.
@@liammclean7532 that was a bullshit test.
Great way to finish off. Well done and great review. I've driven both and love the wide planted stance on the Amarok. The engine is in a class of it's own. The Hilux is the best off road but not so on road. The Ranger has the bells and whistles and sells well, it leads the high end 4WD sales. The Amarok has full time 4WD effectively and rear disc brakes and that's a massive safety feature over all of the 2WD utes that only have usable 4WD off road. I'll take full time all wheel drive all-day everyday. Horses for courses as the The Editor said we all can pick what we want.
Thanks Dean. Much appreciated.
@fukthegoog hilux is plan and simple rubbish
vevohoeyo you are rubbish
Very good and unbiased review. I still do not think any UTE compare to the comfort and driveability of the Amarok.
Hi, for me the Ranger is the one i would pick.
Why?
-Cause i would buy a pickup truck just because i like the style of such a vehicle. I don't care much of the max speed or the acceleration, it's a truck an not a race car.
-In general I like the equipment (interior, functions, safety) of the Ranger more than the Amaroks'
-The Ranger is cheaper then the Amarok and here in Germany you pay less taxes if you have a smaller engine
-And the strongest argument for me, you can get a manual transmission in the Ranger and i would never buy an automatic transmission because it's so boring to drive:)
The ranger is horrible to drive and is not safer the amarock v6 is way better 😄
Tuned my V6 and it now has 228Kw - up from 175kw (53Kw gain)
632 Nm - up from 523Nm (109Nm gain). It’s crazy.

My Amarok 580 comes in this week, can't wait!
My ranger is in my garage
Nice :) (For the Amarok, not the First on rubbish dump :) )
Typical Ford dribblers 😄
Ive had an ultimate 580 for nearly 3 years. It’s had engine issues and little gremlins. However it is similar to driving an expensive European suv. In fact its better in a lot of ways. Extremely quiet on the highway and handles awesome. It absolutely eats the beach and soft sand even with the low profile tyres. One of my staff has a current Wildtrack and it feels like a small truck when being in the passenger seat. Looking forward to the new model next year.
Tried both - Had the Test Drive of the V6 Amarok for the weekend. The V6 is a beast. Bought a Highline almost 2 years ago.Brilliant vehicle. Only suggestions on a 58k vehicle - needs mirrors that retract, and rear air bags and leather seats. Beautiful to drive, can take a huge load. Though if Ford bought a F150 Raptor here I'd think about one. The Aussie modded V8 RAMS are great too, but just that little bit bigger.
I drive an Amarok V6 Ultimate. Easily the the most comfortable and best handling Ute I have ever owned. That V6 is a sleeping giant killer!! With a custom tune the power and Torque figures are simply stunning.
Well where do I start, I previously owned the 2 litre Amarok with a six speed manual transmission, on the road and off it I thought at the time was the best car I have ever owned (had fords, Mitsubishi tritons and Padjero), that was until I drove the latest VW Amarok, NOW I DO DRIVE THE BEST SUV ever made, by day it could be forgotten that I am driving an SUV, and once off road it does what others do very well. Love my Roc.
It's not an SUV.
Hi I own a VW amarok v6 3.0tdi extreme, it really awesome it has got power, speed and also a huge space. Between Ranger wildtrak and VW amarok ay khona VW amarok is the best
Just grab the V6 from the Amarok and put it in the Ranger and you have the pickup we all want
Thats actually not a bad idea..
That´s it! But with the sorry excuse of a motor in it the Ranger it´s only good for driving to the junkyard. Besides -I own a Ranger now , but with a 3.2l. And the way, it´s put together in SA it´s far from reliable, most of the first 30000 km it was going to the Dealer and back. Never again!
@@hans-joachimripke506 really, so between Hilux 2.8 and Bi-turbo which one would you prefer?
@@vimak8875 always the Hilft, unfortunately the 2.8l isn't available in Germany, otherwise that would be the ride of my choice.
Well Ford and and VW are way ahead if you. The next Ranger and Amarok models due in 2021/22 is an Aussie designed Ranger with a VW V6
After extensively test driving both engined Fords, I just purchased the Amarok. Same colour too. The VW was just so much better on the road. Purchased the Ultimate mainly for the comfort of the drivers seat. Disappointing I then need to pay for a tow bar and ‘Ute lid’ that are standard equipment on the Ford. The Amarok is quite basic in the electronic bells and whistles department. Previous vehicle was a Navara STX 550. I found the 4 cyl Ford engine tiresome to drive and the 5 cyl unrefined in comparison to VW’s V6.
Amarok...all the way, got mine and loving it, that transmission is so smooth...and the POWER
And the cost....when things go wrong
@@carba8606 same as the others
580 Highline in order for delivery mid next year. All the active safety stuff is more of a hindrance than a help, can’t stand lane keep assist. Rear air bags are a shortcoming, but it does flawlessly, what is important and that is drive, handling, performance and transmission. Amazing this is a 10 year old platform and yet feels newer than everything else in the segment! Can’t argue with German engineering
@Duncan. Couldn't aggree m ore. All this lane keep and blind spot monitpr crap. People can't drive and lazy to turn their heads. Rather have the power and awd on the tarmac and good German engineering in the rough stuff
They are both fantastic vehicles, but for me the Amarok has the edge. The Amarok V6 is more comfortable on and off road, more powerful, has better throttle control off road, larger tray with less wheel arch intrusion into usable space, and by far the better wearing of the two vehicles. Yes, Amarok needs rear airbags, but you also have to consider why the Amarok without rear airbags still has a five start ANCAP rating? There’s good reason for this as airbags are only one part of the safety story. The Ranger would definitely be my second choice though - Amarok 9/10 Ranger 8/10
The ranger can fit a way bigger tray though with its longer wheelbase
I have both of them since 2017
And until now I can’t decide which one is the best
It's the same for me asvel the amarok is a more posh car but the ranger is the off road master
Good review. Would be very happy with either. Just picked up the V4 Amarok for $39,000 (Australian dollars) Fantastic vehicle for the money.
But what about its reliability?
I4 not v4
Value for the money - Ranger.
Premium price minus the basic safety stuff - Amarok.
Suit the vehicle to the driver and thier needs.
Great review but you make it clear that you like Amarok more.
I owned a 2016 Wildtrak and just updated to the 2019 Wildtrak. I mainly drive long distance mountain alpine roads and I can't speak high enough of the Ranger Wildtrak. The 2lt is more agile, faster than the 2016. Down under VW is expensive to buy and service and not enough VW service centres for me to even consider one, plus resale Ranger will on sell within a day, where as VW will sit around for ages.
should of kept the 3.2...bigger engine,less stress.i wont buy anything under 4.2..tech is great,till it stops..i wont sell my 2002 f250 4.2tdi.gets 13lt 100..700nm,170kw..no tech..145lt tank.work it out...& runs 35" tyres.nothing else....low range is to kill for,,maybe better than the old f100 granny..i also have among others,a 1962 f100 divorced transfer case f100,4x4.352FE..no rust,still drives,no probs..
@@phantomwalker8251 Your American version of the Fird Ranger is totally different from the Ranger we get. Our version is far more refined from what I have observed. We have very little need for F250 here in New Zealand and I replace my vehicle every 3 years so I don't need a fuel guzzling fat dinosaur. I am currently on a 3,000km road trip and the Ranger is perfect for my needs, absolute pleasure and it's running at 8.1litres per 100km.
Milk comes in 2ltrs
@@aulord80 I am lactose intolerant and you obviously haven't driven the biturbo 2lt deisel powered Ranger. It is far better in all aspects compared to any other Ranger power plants by a long way. The tech is impressive...But you keep drinking your milk, it suits you.
@aulord80 coke also comes in 2ltrs. And that is what everyone said about the Amarok. I have driven the 2.0ltr BiTurbo and the 3.2 Rangers and by far the BiT is better and more stable.
i like watching reviews like this, but one think i would prefer to see is if reviewers would also take into account the deprecation, resales and cost of maintenance/ parts. if you take those things into consideration the outcome is clear
VW?
Amarok for me is the best. However, vw need to give it an interior and safety update
I choose the Amarok as its more outstanding than the Ranger. Comfort ride, spacious, faster, better MPG among other things. Just the extra safety the Ranger and the price and if you getting a vehicle like the Amarok then nothing wrong in spending a few more bucks.
Amarok. There are only two types of utes available in Australia, the V6's and.... the rest.
I drive Hilux for work, have driven Colorado's for days and owned three fords, great engines but shit steel, rust buckets in no time. Amarok standard 6 year rust guarantee...biggest tray area, best interior, 5 year warranty now, best handling, very similar service costs, cheap to run, I can keep going for days. Mechanic friend of mine has two Amaroks, never missed a beat and sets the pace, laughs at fords 5 cylinder....WTF???? How can you truly balance 5 cylinders?
Amarok wins hands down. Eat my dust.
the ranger,isnt a ford.its just badged.only ford is f250.made by ford.f150,made by ford.ect.are you buying a city,useless ute,or a 4x4.which,should have 2 diffs,NOT,IFS..
have you checked the rear hilux diff,,to see if its still part of the housing.???,they come loose..japanese steel, studs too small, makes it lighter.,,there a joke..
Let’s explore you rust claim any data or justification or just your opinion after days!111111

Great review! I’ll be putting my $ with Amarok
I got one, they are superb.
Driven both towed with both VW all the way as overall feel safer on the road. Also easier to clean in side.
When I test drove both of these back to back it made me realise these utes are total opposites.
The ranger has everything going for it except the engine, then you jump in the amarok and the engine has everything going for it but everywhere else it’s lacking.
I purchased the wildtrack after driving both, on long dirt roads the ranger rides way better.. plus I love two wheel drive coz sideways action is living!! I just wish the V6 was in the wildtrack!!
Easy to please
You Should have get the 4x4 wildtrak for the viewers, just to get it more comparison vs Amarok's AWD.
Ummmm he did have the 4x4 Wildtrak....... Not sure where you can buy a 2wd wildtrak in Australia.... or the world for that matter.
I have test-driven both: I chose the Amarok. Very smooth to drive like an SUV than a bakkie. Very comfortable to drive.
EXACTLY
Ford always throws in a ton of extras to make the package more appealing. They have to. VW have a solid
brand and they know it. People that own VW know why they drive them. German technology is superior. They don’t need to add tons of extras to make their products appealing.
Ford finishing and build quality is still years behind VW. I tested both VW and Ford and my wife owns a ford. VW all day.
Literally everyone I know with a vw amarok has had transmission issues.
I'm in South Africa where the Ranger isn't equipped with those safety features either. So Amarok takes the win for me.
It isn't yet, there is a facelift on the way. Which will have all the standard safety tech. It had already been released in Aus and will arrive here in the second quarter.
@@quintinjordaan5973 Actually, New Ranger has just been launched in South Africa. And previous Ranger Wildtrak sold in South Africa did have all the active safety features mentioned in the video...
@@irvinelehloo6628 It didn't have all the safety tech. It had ACC but it never had the auto emergency braking. Had a system that could detect it and flash LEDs on the HUD and precharge the brakes. It did and still does have the lane keeping assist.

I'm a Ford man but I know the Amarok will work, the Ranger will spend most of it's life back at the dealer.
Ranger, because it gets the work done , is cheaper and looks nice! That's all I want out of a Ute!😋
The ranger is more expensive
Ranger all the way spoke to a few guys who purchased the others and they have been very disappointed with the electrics breaking down just saying
They are both obviously proven capable and reliable vehicles and I'd probably be happy with either but - Basically, If you intend to use it as a family vehicle as well as work, want better value for money, and prefer a more aesthetically pleasing vehicle in your driveway, Ranger is it, if you need a little more grunt and think that AWD on the road is more important and worth forking out quite a bit more for, Amarok.
Well my wife and I were totally torn so we got one of each lol. I have the Amarok ironically went for the same colour Amarok green. My wife got a black Ranger! We are sorted for all conditions 😂
So what’s your verdict?
Own a V6 ROK 165kw and love it. Test drove the lot before purchase and nothing else compared to the ride quality and power. Yes they sell more wRanger's but that's because everybody can't afford an Amarok.......doesn't mean it's worse. Love the AWD for added traction. Have another ute which is part time 4WD.......at traffic lights after its rained, on an incline, go to take off and all you do is spin the rear wheels.........completely unnerving. Those who say.........there's no low range........phfft!! I've crossed the Simpson Desert in my ROK on 19" wheels and it smashed it. Amarok everyday.
Amarok wins. Has been in front since 2011 and unchanged bar the extra kw. Ranger on its third update and still doesn’t present as well.
Get T-bones at 80kmh in either of them and your not walking away so curtain airbag aside is irrelevant. Pick the bigger stronger body.
I'd agree with that. What's massive too is the Amarok is full time 4WD effectively, the Ranger is 2WD. 4WD is only useable off road and the Amarok has rear disc brakes. The engine is a non argument. the Ultimate 580 is a weapon and returns great fuel economy and is more comfortable IMO. If your looking for bells and whistles buy the Ranger but lane departure and radar are for drivers that dose off behind the wheel. Not everyone can afford the Ultimate 580 but those that can will enjoy the best driving experience and after all thats what cars were designed for.........
fukthegoog german cars are overall more reliable if you didn’t know...
fukthegoog you had shitty luck then. All the german cars i owned never gave problems but as everything in live premium comes at a cost
@@deanrwilson these are not cars they are utes dipshit if you want a on road vehicle then buy a car. Put a trailer on the amarock off road allday and its fukd in a kms

I prefer the wildtrak
I prefer the Amarok because it have more cabin space. I drove the new Ranger and was disappointed on how uncomfortable their seats are.
I drove both cars and honestly even the 2.0l amarok drove performed better than the 3.2 ranger and this year i drove the new updated ranger but i still pick the amarok. Amarok is all the way up they is no way any other pickup can beat that
We have a wide track and an Everest. Both have the bi-turbo. There is a noticeable difference in range and fuel economy. The fuel time four wheel drive Everest being the worst. Both have been dependable.
um ,why didnt you compare the amarok bi turbo 2.0ltr 10 speed auto with the ranger bi-turbo 2.0ltr 10 speed auto ????
Because he's got a Ranger stuck up his arse, I drive new Utes everyday for work and all types and the V6 Amarok is now by far the best on New Zealands market-- People just like to say its a Ford, just like some people would rather say its an iPhone.
Graham Lockett true
Ranger is my pick. Better price point and you did not talk about fuel economy, kind of relevant now and Ranger wins that.
Volkswagen Amarok all with wider rear track than front track bodyworks : 0.7g the lowest traction, extreme tail flick, extreme slide, 20-100 l/100km, over 100 l/100km with F1 speed 160 km/hour to top speed, all speed on all circuits.

Volkswagen databases all
End report.
Dem K. Nah bro ford all day
Quite interesting how Rangers have to have have many new models in last 10 years to stay some form of relevant. Amarok does a couple of tweaks and still in the game and top if you ask me. Rather have awesome power, excellent gearbox ,awd and good German engineering.
Ranger has only had small updates like the looks, screen and instrument cluster, the actual ute is still exactly the same
This now depends on where or what you intend to use a ute for.
Having said that, I have not seen an Amarok in any 'serious' off-road scenery.
its physiclly wider so you often run the risk of not fitting between the trees and the wheels dont fit in the tracks left by other 4x4's.
thats the biggest thing iv noticed with mine.
deep ruts between tight trees risk body damage
amarok all day BUT It desperately needs an interior upgrade, more safety and tech and its by far to best rig if they do that going forward
That's what VW needs to work on next.
I just have one doubt: why VW is going to borrow Ford platform technology for their truck?
Then why does Mercedes need the Nissan platform for theirs.
An we no that how who told who wat
thats for commercia/HD work trucks mainly
I love the Amarok, but i smashed my ankle getting out of the car on the seat rail tracks. Did anyone else have this problem
Good no bullshit, no wankery review 👍 Hard to go past that extra power and performance on and off road, for that reason gotta be the Amarok, guessing that was your actual opinion too, but just didn't want to trigger the Ranger army.
One huge flaw the Amarok has in not having low range is the reverse is geared to high and makes it virtually impossible to reverse a heavy trailer, boat or caravan up hill, speaking from experience.
Don’t get all emotional! Go and test drive both, and then decide witch one is best for you? In addition, if you are brand loyal, then why are you watching this video?
Deff the vw, how can you compare gold with silver. Yes the ranger has more features and is more up to date though its ford build quality that lets it down. 3 years later all the ranger enthusiasts will be like should have bought the vw. It drives better it holds its value better and its a more solid built ute. Not saying the ranger is bad you just have to way up all options what is cheaper in the long run, maintenance, ease of use, comfort and re sale this all pegs the amarok in front. I think both are great test drove both. Walked out with a amarok based on the above
No rear airbags. That ruled it out for my family. A pity as everything else about the VW was good.
No rear airbags for the ranger either ?
Amarok please
Own one and loved it .
Just bring that amarok here in the philippines, i like speed and good acceleration...
Ranger please
We have both these trucks as company vehicles and at the end of the day everyone wants the Amarok’s
I like the Amarok more as a UTE but the lack of safety will lead me to buy the Ranger.
Wildtrak all day everyday. Value for money
He wasn't talking about value, I drive new Utes everyday for work and the Amarok hands down is an incredible beast.
whilst they r both great rigs ,value for money u gotta b fkn kidding 65-70 odd grand fuck me better come with blow job attachment had a wildtrak till recently boom at 117k no mods just mags the ranger styling inside and out is killer but would I buy another as much I as I loved it don't know just too many issues everyone knows it but few will admit it
Amarok for me, almost bought a wildtrak but was put off by the amount of really serious issues people were having then had an Amarok on hire for a month or two and that made my mind up, absolutely amazing motor, especially if you are doing big mileages! One of the comfiest vehicles I’ve traveled in.
I'v got a 2014 Amarok BiTDi. The one thing I don't like about it is the rear leg room. The accelerator and brake pedal are set quite far forward, and I do think that these could be moved back an inch or two to give more rear leg room. I was thinking maybe they could be floor mounted (with protection to stop stones etc getting in the way) which could allow even more room.
Good review for someone who sits on the fence
Wish you could get that green for the Amarok in lower spec models can't afford the ultimate. And that green is so nice
I have seen it on a core model of a 2014 so I would assume you still can

Why would you compare a 3.0 V6 to the 2.2 4cyl? Don't you get the 3.2 Ranger in Australia? Would like to see how the VW V6 compares to the Ford 3.2 4cyl....
the 3.2 is a 5 cylinder
It's a newer 2.0 engine in the ranger. he's comparing the two as they are the flagship models.
Did try both and hilux as well bought Amarok...Amarok every time!
Did same in 2013 did try all three,no comprison Rok did drive better and still does!
Well I'v got a Hilux, mate's got an Amarok.... Mine tows better, goes further off road... his is a fraction faster, but doesn't even have a gps or proximity entry wtf
Abu7929 Something very wrong there either with your mate or his Amarok
@@pred8512 he can make the windows wind down remotely, for some bizarre reason, so points for that
Abu7929 😂😂😂👍🏻
ford ranger is my favourite truck
Who has bought 2.0 Bi-turbo wild track, can you tell us in details how it's tech is equipped, efficiency of gear box, off-road and towing power, consumption compared to Hilux 2.8cc, speed and stability on road, and any other merit and dimerit noted. Will really appreciate because I'm organizing myself to get satisfied before putting my money thanks
It is an awesome ute, a big step up from a Hilux.
Ranger!!
No low range ............nuff said. I'd love to see it pull a boat off the barge at the islands.
The Amarok will pull the boat better than the Ranger all day.
I see hundreds of amarok going on sand pulling everything, boats, caravans... and I never saw one struggling
What about the 3,2 Ranger ??
Or, the 3.2 old engine give 10 speed automatic gear box... will be nice
Ford Ranger anyday
I'D like to see a 'work mate ' VW . V6 16'' wheels .. duel speed transfer case . Propper hard points . And propper ground clearance. And possibly a live axel front end . I'd buy that
4.2tdi,f250.2002,does it all.
Honestly I love VWs but there is something about the Ranger that just makes it stand apart that little bit.
Lee Parnell Wildtrak is beautiful
Tell me, what makes Ranger stand out better please?
@@vimak8875 It's snout.
wondering how much VW pay this guy ? till he can twist Plastic Vs Leather become BETTER/GOOD quality plastic
me too. I mean how does someone just pick the plastic over the leather stitching the ranger is one hell of a pick up truck I mean it's got all the qualities that a pick up truck should have whereas the VW. It's great but it's still lame coz how do you just put an off road button in a car and brag that it's capable it doesn't have no diff locks, no low range, just a damn off-road button. The ranger has diff locks, low range, traction control and many other cool off-road equipments. So I think the ranger is just the winner by a really large margin....
@@koenigre2170 it does have a rear diff lock and it doesnt need low range so m8 do ur research b4 u say ur complete bs
That’s exactly what I was thinking. This guys made a clown of himself
Mate is all about the engine and since wen utes went full leather amarok was designed plastic so you can wipe just with a wet cloth if germans want to put more luxury on the inside trust me they can do it better then Ford i mean vw owns audi lamborghini porche bugati so yeah
The poor safety in the Amarok basically rules it out for a lot of people. Though it technically has a 5 star safety rating, it is a really old rating from when it first came out. If VW had to re-test it now it would only be a 2 star safety rating.
I like both in NZ ranger has 5 year warranty 150k VW Amarok 3 year warranty 100k Ranger Wildtrack right now I can get for $NZ64500 on road with 10k RUC + $1000 free clothing vochure, Amarok will cost me $NZ90k+ thats nearly 30K more is it worth that much more........I love the VW but 30k buys a nice boat too so for me probably go the Ranger this time. The adaptive cruise is also a great feature on our over policed roads, my other car is a Audi A8 punching 800NM that's what I go faster in, driving a 4wd ute fast is dangerous at best.
2019 Ranger doesn’t have blind spot monitoring in Australia.
Blind spot, cross traffic, autonomous braking, adaptive cruise should be standard on all cars nowadays.
What about proximity Central locking and push button start. The ranger is the most advanced 4x4 ute ever. Amarok is great but misses out on so much.
I drive for a company in New Zealand that makes canopies for every ute in our market and I get to drive daily every ute that passes through work and that's 20-25 a day, and here the Ranger is king for sales, for me the Toyota SR5 use to be the total package and the Amarok use to be the worst overall, but this V6 Amarok is now head and shoulders over every thing else I have driven, the luxury, the power and the handling for me is the one to beat.
