Alright, I watched this video and part 2 and this gentlemen convinced me that I can rebuild my own injectors. I went online to 406 injectors and it sent me to bitterroot diesel. I ordered the deluxe rebuild kit and the tool. I plan on starting the job tomorrow. I’m old and feeble so I never try to work too quick. I take my time so, it might be a minute, but I’ll let y’all know how it goes.

@@jacewinfrey3045 like a charm. I can’t say enough about the rebuild kit from Bitterroot Diesel. I bought the tool that they fabricated for use on the 7.3 injectors and it worked great. I watched the video many times and consulted it many times, but I have no doubt, I could do a set tomorrow. Well, I’m old and slow, it may take 2 or 3 days, but I’m ready. If you’ve got mechanical ability, this is a cakewalk and the results are phenomenal. Highly recommend these videos as a guide and the rebuild kit he uses in the video. You’ll be happy to did.

@@philipbrown6500 I just went on Bitterroot diesel's website and there isn't any picture of the bracket that's used to hold the injector in the vise or the adapter for the socket wrench (3:17min in the video) : are both included when you "add the injector rebuild tool" to the rebuild kit ? Thank you !

@@unboxedtravels From the Bitterroot Diesel homepage, when you pass your cursor over the word "products". You will get a dropdown menu. From that dropdown menu, choose the type of engine you're dealing with. When you move the cursor over your choice of engine, you'll either get another dropdown menu seperating your choice further or you won't get anything. If you get nothjng, click on the choice you've made. If you get the drop down menu, choose the appropriate catagory. Whichever you choose will show all of the products available that meet the criteria. The specialty tools should show up on that screen. If not, when you choose the appropriate DIY rebuild kit, any specialty tools available to work on that product will be listed along with all of the parts included. I noticed also, their prices have gone up, but I would still choose this route without a doubt.

Look at 2:20 on the video, as you’re taking it apart the hold down bracket is different than the you reassembled it. The big U shape is opposite of the small U on the injector. Does it make a difference? I ask because I used this video and one other that used this video to rebuild mine and now mine runs worse than before I rebuilt them.

Putting them back together during your second video I'm thinking I must have been mistaken, but you take them apart in this video and put them back together oriented differently in the second. At 3min in, the notch in that body is facing away from you, and the connector is facing towards you. But you put it back together with the notch and everything facing towards you.... Should I pull my first one back out and switch it or keep doing it the same?

I have never rebuilt nor am I the most versed on these, but typically the poppet valve gets stiction, also solenoids can go out, factory tolerances wear down. You can check your armature plate for that rather easily with a feeler gauge. I believe issues really show when the clearance is less than .002, fresh should be able to clear .004. That is what I learned with the shim kit, but I’ve heard good and bad about that. It did give me some feelers gauges tho, and it did let me identify some very out of spec injectors.

Where do you get parts? I've searched far and wide for a supplier of injector parts- no luck. Redat SPI, an Italian company with an office in Florida, offers a complete line of injector parts, but they will not even respond to contact attempts. Apparently, they will only deal with high-volume shops, not one-off home repair guys like me. So, as much as I hate this word, powerstroke injector rebuilding is being gatekept. These look like they're a piece of cake to rebuild & there are tons of how-to videos on RUclips, but literally nobody will sell parts. I'm about to replace the injector seals and would like to do a rebuild on my injectors, but without parts, I just can't. I don't want to drop $1500 on rebuilt injectors when mine are working just fine and I could, in theory, just do a disassemble, & rebuild them myself. It's a very frustrating situation.
