    After reading the "how to build big injectors yourself DIY guide", and the STOUT recommendations (hazing) to "leave it to the pros" (by big money pros), it was REFRESHING to see such a well-done and competent, no-bullshit, guide to 7.3 injectors: A comprehensive series.

    Clint, thank you so much for showing us the "proper way" to do the rebuild. IMO, after seeing this, I would not want to do it Inverted, as I have seen way too many videos of it taking 5 or 6 cranking sessions to get the Injectors primed and the engine started. this makes it plain, why the labor costs are so expensive for Injector rebuilds.

    Easy way to put orings on when the injector is together is get a zip tie or cable tie slide it behind the oring and with the smooth side facing the oring and pull the oring down and around and use your thumb to get it in the right location

    Hello Clint;
    First off I want to give you a BIG THANKS FOR ALL YOU'RE VIDEO'S.
    I am tackling rebuilding all injectors and replacing all cups.
    Question #1
    Would I do the same persedure as described in removal of injectors knowingly I'm pulling out the cups. I'm thinking yes
    Question #2
    On the new cups ,,, would you rough up ---- using scotch bite pad --- just where the locte 620 sealant is ??? Or just install the new cups,,, after removal how would you clean the head out using whatever, I've seen kits and cleaning brushes, would you use Part's cleaner after the brushes then sucking it out and immediately after roll the motor over to clean out the cylinder out from any or all debre that might have fell into the cyclender???
    QUESTION #3
    Would you have an extra holding brackets for the vice while I'm tearing down and reassembly of the injectors...???
    Question #4
    I'm looking for the injector rebuild kit that you recommend but no luck, could you help me out on that kit numbers and where to get it at or can you just send me a kit and go from there.
    Build date for the truck is 06/98

      Cups and or Injectors follow the same procedure , YES scuff the cups up lightly , when cleaning the head for cups put a coin on the bottom till the last cleaning of the bottom of head to cup surface and just clean with a brake clean on rag don't spray any into cylinder follow the clean and start procedure in the video nothing extra
      The extra bracket ? just do what I show in video // injector rebuild kit riff raff diesel always has the freshest parts

    Clint- thank you for all your videos and support here in the comments. Just did my cups this weekend using your method for taking the injectors out. Planning to use your method to clear the cylinders and fire up the truck once they’re back in. I am just doing a rebuild of the seals on my injectors. I plan to double up the metal o-ring like you did here with the openings at a 180. My question for you is to confirm once I degrease the injectors themselves, put the new o-rings on dry. Before putting them in the head you recommend coating with a permatex ultra slick or O-Ring lubricant?

    hey man, sorry for asking an unrelated question but I put Rotella ELC into my early 7.3 and i had no idea there were apparent consequences for this. I just randomly stumbled upon some forum posts saying that ELC with OAT will eat at the sealing agent used in the injector cups of the e99 7.3. Well I did this about a year ago and so far I dont think I notice any diesel in the coolant as its still pretty red looking. Also I checked the box I bought the ELC and it says it uses NOAT instead of OAT. What do you think about this? Wives tale? Should I flush it even with no affects after 1 year? Is OAT different than NOAT? Do you think Im safe because i'm using NOAT ELC? yeah I could probably flush it but i figured damage has been done already after a year of use if that's the case

    • @CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD
      @CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD  Год назад +4

      to be certain you need to find your engine serial number any number that is 940613 and below can only take IOT no ELC of any kind, production date February 99 and older any thing after 99.5 post February 18th 1999 engine serial 896812 and up or 940614 and up is ELC compatible with out the acid2 additive, Colors gold yellow green ELC good The red has the acid and will mess up the seals and cups. Also it is required on pre Feb 99's to add motor craft VC8 and VC9 and doesn't hurt to add to 99.5 through 2001 The engine serial number is located by the oil cooler by the oil filter to the back of the oil cooler attachment and the production date is on the cab door sticker. The biggest issue changing from IOT to ELC is that the complete system has to be flushed with distilled water any left over old coolant or contaminated water will wreck seals and cups

    Clint, after rebuilding the injectors, is there anything mechanically that would transfer electrically to cause one of the P1271-P1278 to trigger after rebuild & replacement?

    • @CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD
      @CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD  6 месяцев назад +1

      "Most" times these can be drilled down to an electrical anomaly somewhere in the circuit. More than likely a short between the IDM and the Injectors. Suspect would be the UVCH connectors or wiring. You'll have to -run some troubleshooting to determine which one

    Hi Clint, I have a question about the measurement of the armature, you say .0035 but everything that I have found says it should be between..020 and .040 which is 20 thousands to 40 thousands. Your number would be I believe 35 ten thousands..is that the number that you meant to say? Thank you for a clarification and thank you for the great videos!

    Why don't you ever mention the difference in them such as numbers 1 -7 being the same, BUT #8 Imjector is different?
    I followed every word if your video and pro Rebuilt my own injectors. But had to surf the web to learn why #8 is a different part number etc.etc.
    The biggest differance I noticed that I recall right now, was the plunger is different. The bottom of the shaft has a number of holes in it, and I belive the top of the plunger is more heavy duty vs a lock ring and a washer.
    OR AM I GOING CRAZY ? LMAO 😅😅😅
